Sounds like Sylvester stumbled into a vintage film discussion! 'The Scarlet P-P-Pumpernickel!' would certainly add some comedic charm to 'The Scarlet Pimpernel.

I have seen several versions of this film but this one for all the poor film quality is still the best. Not bad for 90 years old!

I know it's strange, but since I was a kid, I have always enjoyed French revolutionary themed films
I'm not surprised as those were remarkable historical times.

Leslie Howard was killed June 1, 1943 when KLM/BOAC Flight 777 Lisbon - Whitchurch was shot down by the Luftwaffe off the the north coast of Spain. The German fighter pilots were upset that they were not informed that there was airline traffic in the area. If they had been aware, they indicated they could have escorted the aircraft to Bourdeaux as a captured aircraft. They took photos of the wreckage and after the war Leslie Howard's family was provided with copies.
Thanks very much, Peter, for the useful and important information about Leslie Howard. Yes, it was a great loss, his tragic demise. the world lost a fabulous actor and a great man. It is good, though that we never have forgotten him.
Thanks for your kind visit and comment, which is very much appreciated❤️
I devoured these books when I was 9 or 10....
You have great literary taste. I enjoyed them too when I was a young girl. Thanks vor your nice visit which is much appreciated. Have a wonderful time. ❤
Ditto. And have reread them many times
Le Mouron Rouge en traduction française, j'ai dévoré aussi ! Avant de connaître ce film, un bijou !
They certainly don't make them like that anymore . Pity !
No, they not. Those were pure jewels❤
When did the French come out of their barbaric stage, same as the English?
Good question, Robert, good question.❤️
