With how physical the refs have allowed teams to play, the mavs may have an edge. Dallas have become a fantastically balanced team in all facets. The used to rely on the 3 but seem to be attacking far more.

If Luka starts shooting at least average again, Id say mavs in 5. If luka keeps struggling its gonna be a very close series
knee injury might fuck the mavs this playoffs. hopefully luka can do something (💉) to get it into good enough shape quick. his shooting is completely related to his inability to get comfortable on the jump, especially when the knee is key for setting a good position for the body, like the 3.

Don't forget DJJ guarding Shai will be an absolute dogfight, leaving him more tired than usual- and having to pass more. Having gafford and lively to back him up is just icing on the cake.
PJs length will be great at the perimeter, and if Kai and Luka continue the defensive steals this looks like Dallas in 5.

@@2boldboman274 yeah we’ve seen it with JV in the last series. But he doesn’t really need to guard them tbh, he just has to disrupt the lobs thrown at him. Gafford and lively aren’t really threats offensively outside of pick & rolls and being lob threats.
@@dtowndtown9232 well they become 1 super center, esentially becoming a huge threat because of the attention Luka and ky draw on the pick and roll. That inside lob is going to be there a lot, if not, ky and Luka will dissect and score

They had stretches in the clippers series where they both couldn’t find their groove and it affected the entire dynamic of the mavs offense. Obviously they picked up the slack in the second half’s but it’s something to keep in mind.

I live in Dallas it’s only a 2.5 hour drive, so many mavs fans were going to go to okc that Ticketmaster won’t let you buy tickets with a Texas zip code. I’m sure they will find a way around it and it’ll be a pretty even crowd

@@domro6583Just imagine DJones shadowing Shai. Usually, Shai has an advantage against other PGs because he is longer but not against DJones. If DJones can be disciplined enough against Harden, who perfected foul baiting, imagine what he can do against Shai. Or the mavs could put a bigger stronger PJ Washington on him. Or a savvy Exum. And the biggest difference will be rebounding. You just can't give too many 2nd or 3rd chances to a team with Luka and Kyrie on offense. The scary part is Luka and Kyrie were below their usual selves and yet were able to take care of the Clippers on which should have won game 4 if PG didn't have that awesomely defended, falling away, time running out 3pointer

And we didnt even have Lively during that game and thats the healthiest lineup we've ever had in the regular season. Luka would exploit OKCs size difference. @@trudat849 Just saying, you've never beaten a healthy Mavs team. And the one we did have Luka and Kai together it's a blowout. Not to mention Gafford and Washington were coming off a fresh trade. Just adding some perspective on the match-up, buddy.
-OKC's favored strategy is force TOs and run, but Mavs is the best team by a mile in limiting overall turnovers and are very good in limiting and defending fastbreaks.
-Mavs favored strategy technically is PnR, but in reality, they can do a lot of different things on the court and they do it very well. That's why Clippers failed to contain their offense in the latter part of their series.
-Mavs offense is way more dynamic by having multiple options (they can efficiently post up, PnR, bully ball, fast pace, and they can also do 5 man spread lineups).
-OKC loves to spam the 5 man spread, kickout and drive, until a shooter becomes free or a driving lane becomes open.
-OKC's defense is very good at man to man particularly with LuDort. Chet is a bonafide rim protector that intimidates a lot of teams that don't have physically imposing bigs.
-Mavs defense is very good at man to man, switch, zone, and they too have bonafide rim protectors in Gafford and Lively.
-Mavs will be the physically imposing team in this series, and OKC struggles against teams that out muscles them particularly Chet.
-Shai will have a hard time getting into the basket and score as DJJ, PJ, Maxi, and Josh Green can match his speed (as they've shown against Harden and PG). He will still get his points but it will be way harder than the Pelican series.
-Luka is a very strong physical guard that should have no trouble against Lu Dort. In their recent matchups, he did very well against him. Not sure whether he will be 100% against OKC, but if he is, no one in that team can ever hope to stop him. And even if he is not 100%, he should still be the best player by far in this series.
-Kyrie will be unstoppable in the 3rd and 4th quarter of this series (as he shown against other teams with similar builds to OKC and even against OKC themselves).
-Mavs has the best offense and defense in the clutch, meaning that any close games near end time should favor the Mavs.
Conclusion: This will be BULLY BALL of epic proportions. Mavericks will clamp and destroy the young Thunder in 4 to 5 games.
Luka is about to show what everyone already knows, even his doubters. He is better than other MVP candidates. I am not saying this as just his fan, I am stating this as a matter of fact. Water is wet, sky is blue and Luke is the best player in the league.

None of the defenders mentioned are a tuffer matchup than Herb Jones. The Mavs won’t be able to stop Jdub and Shai from getting into the paint freely whether the center is Chet or Jwill

I'd LOVE to see a Mavs/Knicks Finals... but the Knicks aren't being the Celts. Knicks went 1-4 im their reg season series with the Celts. OKC is a highly skilled team but the will struggle on the boards and interior defense. Right now they are built more for the regular season than the post season
The NBA postseason is a mountain. Rarely do you see a young team like OKC make it to the top without paying some dues for 2-3 seasons. Mavs in 6 if they stay healthy.
