THE LUKA ERA - From Missing the Play-In to the NBA Finals
In April 2023, the Dallas Mavericks concluded their 2022-2023 season with back-to-back losses, missing the playoffs for the first time in four seasons and drawing national attention for the wrong reasons. The Mavericks finished the regular season with a record of 38-44, missing the postseason for the first time since Luka Doncic’s rookie year.
However, a year later, the Mavs have been dominant in the playoffs. Luka and Kyrie are firing on all cylinders. And maybe most unexpectedly, the team is thriving on defense.

Its either the mavs squeezing out clutch wins, or celtics blowout lol I don't think Luka can dominate Tatum and Brown the way he did game 5 vs the wolves, but I also don't think Celtics can contain kyrie and luka either. The wolves struggle with on ball pressure and the Mavs ranked one in defense in the last 15 games. Gobert and KAT are also liability’s. The Celtics actually match up nicely against the Mavs. Luka is great you can’t take anything away from him, but the Celtics do a lot of match-up hunting. JB is going to be a problem for the Mavs.

IMHO, Mavs having the more challenging path towards the championship might actually be an advantage for them. Compared to beating injury stricken teams. With respect to boston and their players, i think that if they played tougher match it would've shown how much greater they are as a team further solidating them as a better team, and not being in the state where it's 50/50 who will wim between the 2. But, we'll see...

Thank you for mentioning that Luka played hurt against the Clippers and OKC. And that he still isnt at 100% right now. Though he looks way better then he did earlier in the PO. But he still plays with a sprained right knee and a left achilles tendinitis. And yet he still averages 29/9.5/9... with 1.6 steals!
