    I bought a second-hand Mini cooper s R56 and it never felt very fast. After a remap an error message came up; we nailed it down to the diverter valve and replaced it. What a difference!! It was like the whole car came alive. And there was no way of telling it was faulty unless you know what a quick mini should be like. Good advice.

    This sounds promising. Before the timing chain was re placed you use to hear the dv go pretty much every dab of the accelerator. Now it only does it whilst Revving. Wonder if this is the cause as the power fees good, I had thought it was a boost leak

    This part has oil going through it? Im finidng oil after changing the turbo. I changed the seals behind the oil filter housing and cooler. But it seems like it could actually be the diverter valve thats leaking. Cause there is oil dripping from the circular part below it that has the hose attached to it. Thay doesnt have oil in it so im suspecting the diverter valve. I havent got into it again yet but am going to. Does that oart indeed have oil running through it and could be leaking?

    Is it a problem of the spring? Should I come back to the normal one, or the pressure converter is faulty?? Thanks.

    Hi BImmer Dude. My 2009 Mini Cooper S had a faulty HPFP,which cause rough start in the morning and several codes like multiple cylinders misfire.I did replace HPFP and fuel filter in the tank,because of the oil leak I also install new valve cover.Not far away I replaced spark plugs and 2 ignition coils,because they were faulty. Then car starts fine no check engine light on the dash,but have loss of power. Scanner shows P115D, wich is related to MAF sensor.So I did replace intake hose between turbo and MAF (found crack in the turbo side ) and MAF sensor as well. Still have P115D and loss of power. Do you think the cause of this can be Diverter valve? Or your any advice will be highly appreciated.Thanks.

      I am guessing that the old spring was in very good if not perfect condition. From looking at it in the video the spring does look pretty freaking good. He also said all of the dealer shops were closed and from personal experience I know that the spring is a part that can only be bought from either a dealer or you can order one on Amazon. I believe that the guy wanted to get his Mini rollin ASAP and since the spring was in good condition he decided to go ahead and use it. That is just my opinion. He may have a completely different reason.

    Hey Man,
    I have a 2011 Mini Cooper S Clubman.
    50/50 of the time when i crank up I get a cloud of white smoke. I can't tell if it is coming out when I drive, but when I'm idling, its pretty clear.
    I can confirm my antifreeze level is maintaining. I don't see any other fluid leaks other than the AC. My oil seems burn through fast though. I changed my oil last week and I am still getting the smoke on startup. Performance doesn't appears to be lacking that much.
    Do you think this could be head gasket or PCV Valve related? Or any other ideas? I have a new set of spark plugs coming soon and a compression tester.

    • @BimmerDude
      @BimmerDude  Před 6 lety +1

      Bobby hey man thanks for watching the video If I had to make an educated guess I would say that the white smoke is condensation since your coolant levels have not changed. Going through lots of oil is typically indicative of a PCV issue of some kind that doesn't mean necessarily your PCV system is not functioning it could merely mean you have quite a bit of coking on your valves which leads me to my next educated guest the plumes of smoke that you do see on Startup. The oil consumption that you are seeing could most likely mean your valves are coated enough to where it is retaining more oil Blow by and will likely cause a misfire very soon. I would not suspect a head gasket that would be a last resort but a worst-case scenario could be a leaky valve seal but that would be dependent on your mileage I would start with a valve decoking service before I went that route. Hope that helps good luck!

      Dylan I'm not exactly sure what that particular code is for it could be related to the high pressure fuel pump the only way to truly know is to have a mini specific code reader. I use a creator c-110. Before you begin to diagnose for other issues you'll want to measure the fuel pressure at the rail it needs to be over 500 psi anything lower than that your pump is failing. Hope that helps thanks for watching

    • @BimmerDude
      @BimmerDude  Před 6 lety +2

      Weak fuel pumps tend to exhibit erratic fuel pressure that will fluctuate below 500 if you don't have access to a code reader you can have this done at most European Automotive Shops and they should do it for a diagnostic fee

      Mazda Rx7 FD 1993 awesome man! Yeah that sound is pretty normal I believe we do hearing is the mechanical vacuum pump it is driven by the camshaft closest to you if you're standing in front of the car. It's pretty common and it shouldn't be too much cause for alarm how many miles is there Cooper have on it?

      Mini coopers cpu's run constantly when the engine is off. you have fans for the cpu, along with a fan in the glove box. I travel a lot and have noticed different fans and other (computer) items turning on and off thru out the night when I sleep n her. One of the main reasons if your Mini sits for a while, or you only drive a couple miles a day you need a battery tender.

      Jerald Haddox I’ve been having this problem for so long. I heard that little kazoo noise ever since I got my r56 a year ago and I just assumed it was just a Mini thing, as I’d never owned one before and I couldn’t find anything online. Now it seems like I’m permanently in limp mode and when I got the code checked at autozone nothing came up. This comment just solved a months long search for an answer!

    I have a 2885 code and have just recently done a lot of basic maintenance (plugs, coils, air filter, oil and filter change), along with replacing the 3 vacuum lines (the two that come off near the turbo and the third small one by the end of those two); the code only happens when driven hard (shifting above 4k) or if I accelerate and decelerate in quick succession. Do you think my diverter valve might need to be replaced or adjusted? Your videos are awesome btw

    • @BimmerDude
      @BimmerDude  Před 6 lety +10

      Great question sir
      a diverter valve, is a manifold vacuum-actuated valve designed to release pressure in the intake system of a turbocharged vehicle when the throttle is lifted or closed. when your valve isnt functioning properly it will not release the pressure your turbo charger has built up which could result in some pretty server issues. (check engine lights and damage to the turbo) hope that helps! and thanks for watching! hope your a subscriber!

      Iv fitted one of them bov adapter made the mini cooper s r56 run very rough. Put back to normal all ok. The car has a maf sensor instead of the mass air flow near the filter wonder if that made any difference.

    • @BimmerDude
      @BimmerDude  Před 6 lety +2

      honestly I would check it with every other Oil Change since your literally right in that area. I dont really think its an item that has a standard shelf life. My car had 70k miles on it when it failed, but thats low mileage for a 2007. Some people are just now changing theirs at 120k +. Definitely dont wait until you have a check engine light though since its only a 50$ part

      What symptoms do I need to know when this part is suspect or needs replacement right away? How do you check it if it’s in good working condition? Do I have to open it up?

    • @BimmerDude
      @BimmerDude  Před 6 lety

      The most obvious one would be
      -Car is running rougher than usual. Among the most noticeable signs that the air diverter valve is damaged is your car running sluggishly.
      -Gas mileage is suffering
      These would be the signs that dont necessarily cause a check engine light.
      Hope that helps
