We were in the same postion as Arsenal, the only difference is when they got to the point where they developed exciting young players like Martenalli , Saka , Saliba , Ordegarrd and etc then rather spend 150 million on six players they spent big on oner player, we are close , we still need carry on getting the Micky Vans and Vicarios then once we got players to play the Ange way then splash out on one big signing like what Arsenal did when they got Rice.

Spurs are on the right track but yeah, they have been there a few times. Arteta signed Leno, Ramsdale then Raya. Partey then Rice. Similar story on a few positions if you look closely. Will Levy back Ange in that way?

@SamEdwards-qy5im all well and good In theory. But there's no proof that we'll get to that point. Just had to look at the side poch has. Reason we didn't win anything was levys refusal to spend on the squad. Our XI was the best itl but beyond that was poor. Just have to look at not signing a single player for 18 months which was the downfall of that squad. Ageing players meant it went stale.

He does not want to settle for 4th like it’s winning a trophy. The pressers it’s as much as msg for the fans and levy and also players don’t settle I am here to win. As a Tottenham fan, I remember it all looked good for us right before the Chelsea game. Then injuries began to occur on our best players and it showed how thin our squad depth was. But considering we lost Harry Kane last summer, finishing 8th last season completely missing out on Europe, uncertainty of what would a new manager will be, I’m sure majority of our fanbase are thrilled with finishing in champions league spot. And hopefully next season, we can properly compete for league title with Arsenal, City, and Liverpool.

      @AK47_. Před měsícem +5

Agree, the only part I worry about is competing with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and City. If we get Champions league, it will only be due to the fact we are in no other competitions, like the other 3, also, the likes of Aston Villa, and Manchester United are currently in cups, still competing. Aston Villa in Europe and United in the FA Cup. I think Levy won't help expand the squad too much, infact i can pretty much guarantee it. Hence the reason Big Ange said, he wants the club to be competitive and "we are more than a club, just aiming to finish in the Top 4" This statement in my opinion was a slight hint to Levy, saying we need to get a few more players on board. If we want Silverware.

I think it will be very difficult next season for spurs, Im a newcastle fan and I'm sure we will invest heavily next season with a big departure and hopefully less injuries, Chelsea will eventually get better with a striker, Man united with ten hag gone and radcliffe potentially buying good players and villa playing well under unai emery. I think getting to 4/5 next season will be very difficult and I don't think spurs are as close as some believe. I think spurs are about on the same level as villa and newcastle atm and you will need to invest hard just to keep your position which isn't really the Tottenham way.

Souness talks about the Cl and that was the time for Spurs to kick on. What he has hasn't picked up is that the Team that made the CL was on its last legs. Spurs Should have one the league when it was between them and LC. They made it to cup finales and Semi Finales. They then Finish 2nd. Spurs had one of the best teams in the PL during that time. The issue was Poch didn't know how to win the big games. The Games that mattered. Chairman's don't win titles mangers do. Levy has made Spurs one of the biggest club in the world with the best Stadium all with a Club that has only one 2 titles in 20 years.

  • @kevinferguson530

I agree with Simon, Spurs are one or two good recruitments away from challenging for the title. The elephant in the room is how with Liverpool fair once Klopp leaves and what, if any, impact be for Man City once the ruling on FFP comes down. If I were to guess Liverpool will need a season or two to come to terms with a new managers style of play, Man City are going to receive substantial penalties which could see Pep spit the dummy and move on. This leaves Arsenal and Spurs in prime positions unless Chelsea and Man Utd somehow pull a rabbit out the hat and become competitive once again.

You can have as much money as you like but the playing field has been leveled in financial terms, in recent years. Whilst the other top sides were always spending for fun, we were building and paying for a stadium, just the same as Arsenal did in the past and no matter what anyone says about Levy (myself included) the costs of that majorly play a part in what's available to spend on the pitch. Now, we're reaching a stage where we can actually spend more on the pitch (I personally still doubt Levy ever will) we do however have to abide by the rules, just the same as everyone else. The top, top sides have had a huge head-start in squad build, Spurs and others are now playing catch-up and it'll take time to get even close to achieving the status of regular title and cup trophy contenders. In the last 4 years or so, I've even found myself at times questioning if we need that sugar daddy owner who can throw the cash about willy-nilly and the simple answer has become no, have a look at Newcastle to see what I mean there, one of the worlds richest clubs and their hands are tied.

@@Lolly8863 Depends how you look at it, with Eriksen we finished where we did season after season, that is more revenue than we paid for them all (he himself costing just £11M). When he wasn't playing we felt it, which showed how important he was in his finishing in the top 4. Realistically the ones that actually cost money were Soldado and Lamela, but we paid £25M for Lamela and that's semi stayed at a break even level. So,
      £100M
      -£11M (Eriksen)
      £89M
      -£30M Soldado
      £59M
      -£25M - Lamela
      £34M
I'd say Eriksen was worth every penny of that £34M deficit no? Ones like nacer chadli and chiriches only cost us £8M.

I think that with Mr Levy should step down and let someone elase take the helm.. steady levy is noit the game anymore we need people with staminia, too many times this season as a Spurs fan we have been let down, can you imagine no Cups no champions leageue one game every 7 days and you telling me they are a goood side rubbish...spurs are a push over , Romeor is a liability the flatters to decieve son unless he has room not very good, maddison too weak as a players not strong enough, Hojberg needs to leave same as Le celceo and a few others waste of time..

For all the Daniel Levy haters out there I personally wouldn't want anyone else running my club. Yes 2 league cups in 26 years is failure but with Ange and financial fair play Spurs are in a brilliant position of building something special, stadium, training ground, coach, squad, feel good factor, playing style, it's all building nicely. Would you rather have a soulless American hedge fund running our club or a Middle East Prince who's 300th in line to the thrown who has zero morals?. All Levy cultists genuinely believe he's done a marvellous job. He is a real estate businessman and he's very good one at that with an ever expanding portfolio. However, when it comes to running a football club he micromanages everything, meddles in footballing matters, generally appoints wrong managers, then when he did get one to fit, in Poch, he failed to back him in 2 crucial transfer windows literally at the point the club were going to win things, spending nothing, and the decline was rapid. Souness is right, the fans want trophies, not hotels. As a ST holder of 35 years, I'm old enough to have seen success, but it's becoming very distant in my memory. Levy will be judged in trophies by me and nothing more.I'm not greedy, one will do thanks, I fancy that is what all fans of all clubs want. To win a pot occasionally.
