Shock result? Newcastle have beaten arsenal, city, PSG, Man Utd, Villa, Chelsea and Spurs, at st James this season alone. How is it a shock result?😂😂

    • @garyc2630

      A) Spurs haven't lost this bad all season that's why it's a shock result
      B) This season Newcastle have lost 12 games
      C) New castle didn't beat City in the league home or away
      D) Chelsea and Utd can't be in the same bracket as Arsenal Villa or Spurs
      E) Beating PSG was a group stage match and you still were knocked out
      F) You can't include 'spurs' in the shock result rationale because it is the shock result? You're being circular and it makes no sense
      G) Therefore your phrase should be, Newcastle have beaten Arsenal, PSG in the EFL Cup, PSG (Although we still got knocked out), Villa, and somehow we've still lost 12 games this season.

    • @HolloMollo8

@@garyc2630 1) Newcastle have beaten City in the cup this season at home, Newcastle played their B team in that game. I never stated they beat city in the league, I just said they have beaten them
      2) PSG was a group stage match? And what?? Still champions league and they got hammered at St James. Newcastle we’re also beating them 1-0 away until the 98th minute when PSG were awarded a penalty that should not of stood, the ref has also admitted it was a mistake - this means Newcastle should of went through in the CL if it wasn’t for this VAR decision.
      3) it’s not a shock result to put 4 past Spurs, Newcastle are one of the highest scorers in the league.
      4) Chelsea and Man Utd are both still classed as the big teams in the league with the most expensive squads so of course they are in the same bracket.
      5) Newcastle have lost 12 games with the worst injury record since the premier league began (according to the stat Sky put out) but can still finish above Spurs, what does that say about Spurs?
      6) By the next time Spurs play, Newcastle could be 4 points away from them even with all the injuries. This is another reason it isn’t a shock result.

@@HolloMollo8 1) Yes but comparing an EFL game to the prem is not a good comparison. I just looked at the lineup and there are 7 non-starter players in Man City's lineup too in that game. They were clearly not taking it seriously. They also beat newcastle in the FA Cup. So in total, Newcaslte have lost 3 times to city, twice at home. They beat them once in the EFL cup when both teams were not taking it seriously.
      2) Teams lose in the group stage and then win the champion's league. That's why it's inconsequential. This points to the theme I'm running with. Newcastle beat PSG hard, and got knocked out. That's why it's a 'shock' they beat them to begin with. Newcastle are 10 points behind Spurs. That's why it's a fair surprise they won at all, then a 'shock' they won 4-0.
      3) Yes it is a shock result to put 4 past Spurs. This has happened one time this season. Newcastle have conceded 4 goals 3 times this season and lost 12 compared to Tottenham's 8 games.
      4) It doesn't take a genius to realise that this season the top 3 have set themselves apart from the rest. And to that point, Villa and Spurs have put themselves above the rest. Those are just the facts.
      5) Every team has had injury problems. Spurs lost 6 players from one match (2 from reds) and lost the player with the highest G+A in the league for the first 12 games, in fact one of the highest G+A in Europe. They then lost the best peforming CB in the league stats wise for 3 months. This is an even playing field. Finally, what are you on about could finish above Spurs? In the top 6 table Spurs are tied first on points. They are performing exceedingly well against Arsenal (2-2), Villa (W/L), City (3-3), United (W/D), Liverpool (2-1) and Newcastle (W/L 4-1 and 4-0).
      6) This is a dumb comment. Every game can only cause a deficit of 3 points of the teams don't play against each other. Newcastle aren't playing Spurs again. The 'next time' doesn't matter, all that matters is results against matches played. You really think Newcastle will get a +10 over Spurs with 6 games remaining? There's only 18 points up for grabs.

Spurs were on 53 points after 32 games last season and finished the season on 60 pts, which is the amount Spurs have now. Secondly, Conte was sacked after the 28th game last season, so wasn't even manager at the 32nd game, and they were on 49 pts when he left.

"Brilliance and creativity" - Newcastle are highest rank team in terms of winning 4-0 with the least possession.
I can't say I know 100% why Tottenham conceded 4 against Newcastle. But from what I saw it really boiled down to two poor defensive errors in VDV who slipped twice within 2 minutes. The third was a high line beaten by a single overhead ball. And the fourth was from a corner than Spurs have been victim to all season.
Considering Newcastle are still 10 points or so behind Tottenham, which this late in the season isn't a matter of circumstance but more a matter of patterns of play. And also considering Fulham beat Spurs 3-0 doing the exact same tactic (the matches were almost mirrors of each other), I really wouldn't put it down to "brilliance and creativity". This comes down to individual errors, and some teams willing to play against Tottenham in a certain way that does not work against other teams. So that is what adaptability and tactical prowess is.
The reality is, without the two VDV slips (and I mean individual errors happen - it doesn't make a player bad. Steven Gerrard comes to mind. As well as mistakes Ederson has made. Look at the goals Liverpool conceded against UTD as well - they just shot themselves in the foot due to individual errors). Then drawing analysis from the game is difficult.
What can you really take away from Newcastle's performance this game? Well in short-term, they beat Spurs. They countered them perfectly. They pressured when the ball was not in their half, man to man, and then when they did not have the ball in their half, they put 11 men behind the ball and waited.
The reality is, without the two individual errors, Newcastle would have probably won 1-0, 2-0, or it would have been 0-0. The issue with individual errors is that it kind of ruins games from a tactical standpoint. This is evident when it is only a single goal, and sometimes can be brushed off. But when it is two, from the same player, the entire game gets washed. Just look at the champions league final and Karius. That entire game was effectively ruined. That's because when a CB or a GK makes an error, it's really game over.
Long-term, something isn't right at Newcastle still. And that's why they're 10 points behind Spurs. This game was clearly a one-off considering Newcastle are quite behind Spurs in the league, and on top of that, Tottenham haven't lost this bad all season, combined with Newcastle's astonishingly low possession.
In total, this is why this is more about Spurs than Newcastle. Newcastle weren't 'amazing'. Isaak was clinical. And above that, Spurs made 3-4 errors leading directly to goals.

Tottenham probably wouldn't even be in a champions league race if Newcastle didnt have the worst injury list I've ever seen since I started watching football. Apparently the injury list works out to be on avarage 14 players a game have been missing through injury so far this season. They both prefer to coach their teams on their own style of play and have the opposition worry about them and not focus to much on the other team. This worked for Keegan when it was going well but he was lacking when it was going against him and he only had one style of play with no plan B and I see exactly the same with The big Aussie

One Newcastle didn’t get enough credit for being the way they were tactically too, and two spurs didn’t sort things out prior to the game tactically. That’s asking for trouble. Newcastle have beaten city, Man U twice, Chelsea, spurs, Paris etc and only marginally lost to Milan Dortmund and city again. Ofc they know what to do but they prepare. If they don’t have the energy to they drop points. When they have the energy they leather ya. Spurs should have learnt at this stage of the Season when they’ve worked hard and have players fit they needed to tweak things and they didn’t.
Also, this video. Pointless. No one answered the question, Martin takes a year to get a sentence out and doesn’t answer the question it’s like having Steve Bruce on.

Don’t care if we don’t make champions league, it is this squad that are looking like some new transfers haven’t done well consistently! Player like Maddison I was expecting a 10/10 goals assist season,Kulu has had major issues shooting or setup passes to the FC and should be scoring a lot more,Pape Sarr struggling as what position is he playing needs more assists and his spacing going forward in the box,Johnson a young talented player needs to back himself for shooting and prefer him play RW, Bissiuma not taking on players not running the ball into the opp half quick enough on counter and should shoot more, most guys need to take the ball forward by foot and lay off to me the football is there but the players still fearing losing the ball or mistake!! As a Fan I like to see players moving the ball quicker and get Udogie driving into box wanna see good shooters taking chance shots at goal, but with players we have taking on players through middle of the park and chip pass over the line for son and company.?
