There are New World and Old World species, Fossorial, Terrestrial and Arboreal tarantulas, and Colorful and Dull specimens. If you don't have these tarantulas, you really NEED to consider adding them at some point. They are amazing spiders and I never get tired of observing them. Some are beginner species, others or more for experienced keepers, but no collection is complete without these BIG spiders!

Was gonna recommend the Xenesthis but found out it was first on the list!! I have the immanis, and it is probably my favorite T out of my collection. Seriously, get one.
Sorry but I gotta disagree with your top 3 picks
1: OBT
2: GBB
3: CarVers
But that is my opinion and you know what they say about opinions . Love your content your one of the best and keep it coming .
hey brotha. I'm a big dude. and picky about shirts. I only wear 2x tall shirts because I hate the way regular shirts fit after one wash. you ever think about doing a 2x Tall shirt run ide be all over that sh**
@@whatsupchris I don't think that any tarantula that always takes a defensive posture or neurotically kicks hair often should make any recommended species list. I like the website Mike's tarantulas. Biting the hand that feeds you every chance it gets is not a positive trait for a pet. Then it becomes just a display creature.
Having to subscribe just to get feedback advice or a short answer is like a dating website app that want you to pay just to view a girl's profile.
Instructions unclear; house is now filled with incredible tarantulas and I have nowhere to sleep.
priorities set right
just jump into the enclosure of a Brachypelma or Grammostola. You'll be fine. lol
I can feel ya...
Almslslssle
... I'd be happy to help you with this problem. I have plenty of room and I'm sure we could figure something out.
Richard: you need these tarantulas!
Me: Mom Richard says I need these 10 tarantulas.
Mom: tell Richard I said no
Me: sad invertebrate noises
XD
I love this comment so much lol this is me talking to my husband LOL
@@marjoriesinverts lol same
Man I had a pink toe for about 4 years, his name was Oscar. He recently died a couple weeks ago, he was a dear friend of mine even tho he was just a spider. He wasn't just a spider. He was with me when I was in some really hard times in life and some really good times as well. He would also keep certain people away from my home because they were afraid of him lol I love and miss you little dude! And to the collective creator, thank you for making these videos 🤘🏼
Crazy how something that barely even recognizes what you are can make such a huge difference in life! Can't wait to get mine.
MR. Bad Finger Prod.
I concur, re: pinktoes,.
I briefly had a Craig's list adult, adoption,. She was old used up, She lasted 2 years
90percent Always out on
Display,. I would first thing come home off the road,. Stroke her from Carpace, all way down abdomen, never reacted negatively. Made me feel welcomed home to my T's and snakes.
My first t was a pink toe. Sorry for your loss, my reptilians and arachnids are my babies, it crushes me to lose one. I hope you get another friend :)
My Phidippus regius boy Ezio was a friend to me as well. He loved to explore his spider world, always watching me back with that adorable little head tilt. When I came home and found him dead one day, I instantly knew. His eyes were so blank and dull. I loved that tiny weirdo.
I’m not a huge fan of spiders but a great tribute to your friend. Most people think they’re just animals but nothing could be farther from the truth. Big and small and in between animals are best friends.
The Brazilian Black beauty is definitely on my list of tarantulas I need. Need, not want haha. Excellent video
Was my first T, and like Richard said, they never flick hair, never throw a threat pose but they have a great feeding response. Mine is 3 inches long (toe to toe) but doesn't seem to grow very much with each molt like some of my other species. She is in her third pre molt since I got her at the moment, but I am not expecting too much size increase, but I have had tiny slings of other species that are catching her up in size, and I have bought them after her. Also the first 6 months after I got her I never saw her, she just sealed off her burrow and never ate until she finally molted, but now she has stayed out all the time. Even her last molt she did on the surface.
I got mine yesterday :)
@@walkthroughthestorm39 great! They are really pretty aren't they? Especially after a fresh molt. A real deep black that looks like velvet. Definitely one of my favourites of my fairly small collection. (11 in total) hopefully we will both have many years of pleasure keeping this species, because the lifespan is said to be as much as 30+ years in some cases. Mine may even outlive me lol! I was also lucky to have been supplied with a female which I have confirmed myself when I sex'ed the molt. It was the first and only time I have successfully confirmed the sex of an unknown T using the discarded exuvium, because my other T's are either too small, was confirmed female when I bought them or the molt gets destroyed before I can get to it.
I need one too, seen them at expos a few times but they’re so expensive://
That was my first T as well.. now I have 9 different NW species and I would get another G. pulchra in a second! Gorgeous and so calm. My favourite T.
A Ginger spider. LOL! I'll never forget that!
that cracked me up! I'll never see it the same way again
"Dropping a like really helps the channel", say no more! This channel helped me to get rid of my fear of spiders and i actually have 2 T:s of my own now and i have learned so much from this channel! thank you sir for ur hard work. Sending love from Finland!
That shot of the stirmi grabbing the cricket followed by the hornworm is so great hahaha
Richard: „You need these BIG Spiders”
Also Richard: shows Cyriocosmus spp.
🤣
They're big in my heart 🤓
@@veledwin1 yaas, I Love them so much!
Cyriocosmus need love too!
To be fair, they are small only in comparison with other tarantulas. I know a ton of people, that would suffer a heart attack, if they found a common house spider the size of fully grown C. elegans.
@@prasedomaci9264 I showed my Grandmother my collection for the first time yesterday. She does not approve.
The pulchras literally are the most beautiful to me over all of the bright colored ones. Something about that velvety black is just incredible
Number 2 was my Logo ...
The Caribena versicolor is actually one of the ones I was mailed by mistake it's so nice to know they're so docile
...mailed?
@@jakegraham7265 yeah you can order spiders, fish, feeders, lizards, snakes, chickens and I’m sure much more through the mail
@@jakegraham7265 yeah …? Most of them are mailed. It’s very common and totally safe. There are special animal couriers or couriers with special animal services
I have a feeling that there is going to be a part 2 for this video. So many beautiful species to choose from. Great job Richard.
Up
Love my Brazilian black. I call it black dynamite
I have two, with a third coming next week 🥰 I love them so much!
Damn, it's like he was eyeing my shelf for his list roflmao my favorite, again after seeing her for the first time in nearly 2 months and nearly forgetting about her, is my "plain brown" stirmi! She discarded a molt for me since I last seen her, hence why I'm calling her a her, but boy oh boy has she grown. 4" legs, 2" wide carapace. She's ginormous! And boy was she finally hungry. Hence why she's my favorite again. Feeding response on a different level!
Every time you make a top 10 list I end up with 10 more tarantulas!
Every tarantula is a must have tarantula. gotta catch em all
You’re telling me there are tarantula collectors?
pterinochilus murinus was actually the first T I ever got against all the warnings. never had an issue. absolutley loved it
Ugh I want a Poecilotheria Metallica, but I haven't even gotten my first T yet...
I got a buddy looking for me a list of stuff this weekend at a show hes vending at. that is on the list no doubt. I got out of the hobby all together about 4 years back. I'm finally back in it with better job and a new house so the rebuild is in full effect
p murinus was also my first and i've had more threat postures out of my boehmei. p metallica was my second and that one also never gave me a threat posture.
@@anazolnierczyk5459 I think you've convinced me to get a P. Metallica as the second one. I also want a Goliath beetle, tho, so I'm not sure about the order. First is Lasiodora Parahybana; has a special place in my heart.
@@JayTee95 Hey, I got my P metallica as a 3/4" sling in late 2019, but it ended up being a male. Never had a threat posture out of him, not once, just a cutepie and great tarantula. He's in a 1 gallon plastic wal mart jug and close to death, would have loved to breed him. although individuals do vary but metallica is one of the tamest pokies... i think only ornata is the troublesome one.
Great choices! I personally would have P. irminia up there somewhere tho. No psalmos is a shame they’re a fantastic genus.
That's what I thought.
I thought the Nirvana shirt was wicked, but now you're rocking a RATM T? Hell yes 🤙✊
what shirt? i'm new here
@@anjanadilshan7057 in a previous video Richard was wearing a Nirvana T shirt and in this one he's wearing a Rage Against the Machine T shirt.
@@filmcameras4evr45 oh NIRVANA band? i like their songs.
@@anjanadilshan7057 both of them are bands yeah :D
I’ve been keeping tarantulas for a little over a year now and my first Ts were phormingochilus sp Rufus, an LP, and harpactira pulchripes. I’ve added some more to the collection and I’m addicted. My recent ones are p Metallica, p irminia, aphonopelma hentzi, and a H. Maculata. Some of them end up on the same molt schedule haha
I started my hobby with the OBT. Got A LOT OF WARNING. But since I only display and treat it like a fine art piece. No touching and behind acrylic panes, it marvels me every time I look at it.
Damn ! Never knew that the tarantula family had such strikingly beautiful spiders
10:30 awwww look at those sad eyes
P. Metallica are gorgeous but I've always wanted a p. Rufliata, those acid greens are stunning
I definitely agree with your choices on this list, Richard! Another home run video!
Glad to see Cyriocosmus on here, I have four species and it's definitely my favorite genus. I'm glad I collect dwarf species. If I didn't have a theme to stick to, I'd definitely have too many!
I do have a theme to stick, but I have too many anyways (If such a thing is possible) But since that theme is 'arboreals' it includes, well, lots...
i think the Psalmopeous genus should have made your list, but then again there's too much tarantulas to must have and every T is a must have...😁
legendary youtuber
OMG the OBT has blue eyes! How cute!
The Cuban bronze, the green bottle blue and the Caribbean Versacolor are my two favorites based on temperment, behavior, coloring, hunting and web styles. If I ever venture beyond jumping spiders, I'll try to find one of those 😊
My T. blondi is the easiest to care for T I own. Almost never gives a threat pose, calm when handling, very good breed ambassador.
Your top 10 videos, are always the best!!! Is today, Tuesday?
Since going full time as a youtuber i have started uploading on Tuesday and Fridays!
I have a P. Metallica and IT IS A MUST HAVE!!!! ITS STUNNING! She does hide a lot... Mine has been defensive and she's super aggressive when feeding. Also how fast they are.... they're amazing!
Missing a pokie and obt, pokie is next on the list!
I immediately fell in love with the Colombian Lesserblack, went to look up how much a sling costs, then immediately resigned myself to maybe having a picture of one at best lol
I have this Chilobrachys sp, Electric blue and I wish it would get a species name already. It has become "used" to my presence and is less skittish but still has the ability to teleport. Not counting the color it is an amazing species. Maybe it should be called the Chilobrachys teleportousus. I've seen quick movements, but this thing is beyond observation.
My heart pumped out when I heard the 1st is versi. I love that T the most
Very nice video I have arachnophobia but I still think to get a tarantula I think they are very nice animals and they are very beautifull
I have wanted to get into the hobby. But im stuck between 3 tarantulas. The grammostola pulchra, grammostolla rosea, or aphonopelma chalcodes
I've got 7 out of 10... This was een awesome video and good choice you picked... Greetings from Wales
Hello great video information Richard
I have a GBB and it is a gift anytime I can see it out of its hide. Such a beautiful animal and a great webber! Definitely want a cyriocosmus in the future. Great list!
Can you do a care video on the Thai Zebra?
I would've added Chilobrachys fimbriatus and Psalmopoeus irminia to the list. but awesome list! rocking the Tarantula Collective shirt today!
I think the irminia is arguably my favorite of the Psalmopeus species. Mine is still a sling but it loves to eat and very docile so far surprisingly.
@Stycks one of mine is docile and the other is a maniac haha
@@EightDeadlySins It's a gamble it would seem 😄
That Cuban Bronze one looks pretty cool! Never heard of it before
This video started as a shopping list for me. I have finally succeeded in gathering every T on this list. And I love all of them!!!
I really enjoy your videos.. I now have 6 T"s ( 2 small old worlds) and Asian forest scorpion. & Enjoy being around them.
Mr. Richard, I'm about 75 percent thru your blogs via, 'Tune In App's'. I feel you have a handle on them now, your more relaxed ,. The guest format is a good move..for you,

So glad a Chilobrachys sp. made it on the list! For me this genus is just the best. Close to that is S.crassipes and then OBT (all the color forms).
Hi Richard
Whe are going to the South Africa 🇿🇦 Reptile expo
The SOS one and I'm buying alot of tarantulas

In my collection I’ve got a Brazilian Black and a GBB, so nice to see some of mine make the list 😁😁
Great video. Even as a someone just researching for a few months, I was able to anticipate a few of these being on the list! Can't wait to get my first T!
sent my buddy to a show this weekend with a list. he came back with
caribena versicolor
lasiodora parahybana
c. cyaneopibescens
aphonopelma chalcodes
acanthoscuria geniculata
and
pterinochilus murinus.
only cost me 180 for all and didnt have to pay for shipping. win. and with what I previously had plus what he just snagged me ide guess I'm full blown back into the hobby!!
I have both the stirmi and the blondi and I love the because of how majestic they are. I have Currently 35 T's
Awesome video 🔥🔥
I just got my first T today and its a Brazilian Black. I somehow managed to make it defensive and it was super chill initially. I guess I have a lot of learning to do!
I seem to always come back and watch your videos. I have to say thank you, I have 17 tarantulas now. And zero losses knock on wood. My slings are all eating and doing well, and attribute that to your videos helping me overcome my fear of spiders and providing the tools I needed to be successful. My versicolor crawled on me when I was trying to re house it. And it was a cool experience to see they are just misunderstood. Super chill, unless it mistakes the paint brush for food then it’s all about bitey time lol.
This is such an awesome video. I like the way you do your videos and these T’s are definitely on my list.
I have all but 3 of them. #10 is way out of my price range here in Canada.
As. Always great video with amazing footage
love this content! One of the best channels for anything period. Great work!
C. versicolor and T. albopilosus are my favorite T’s. G. pulchripes is up there too
What an awesome idea to have such a list! To me, I'd prefer the Bornean "neo blue" over the Thai "electric blue" for its hue, but the cobalt blue remains my absolute favorite fossorial species for its shades of blue & violet, as well as the attitude!
The pink-foot Goliath is perhaps my second favorite terrestrial species, only after the classic Goliath birdeater. Those pink hues on the feet are ornamental.
Thank you for making these videos! So good!!!! I love tarantulas
I love watching your videos dude they're informative and entertaining. Been out of the hobby for a few years now but watching your videos is really giving me the itch to get back in the game again
Absolutely love your channel.. beautiful tarantulas.. so excited to see what you have each week.. keep up the great work because your teaching those of us about spiders we'd never see anywhere else.. thank you 😉
Just the video I needed! Perfect timing :) great work sir 👍🏽 really enjoyed this
I really love how you take photos and videos of your tarantula. Best cinematography so far
btw just got my orange baboon 10 minutes ago!
Awesome video Richard!! 🤟 I found that most of these species are already on my list hahah!
Love this. Getting a Caribeanus Versicolor this week. Thank you so much for all the amazing content. I'll be sporting a shirt from you as well this week!
Great video Richard, I couldn't argue with those choices, well done again Richard.
I SO appreciate your videos, esp the species specific ones.Keep going back to them to learn more.😊 Fab 10 spooders 🕷😍
Totally agree with your choice for the number one spot! Awesome video dude 🤘🏼
They are all sooo beautiful, awesome list! See you next Tuesday :)
Great video mate brilliant selection there and yes the OBT is a STUNNER one of my faves
Great list! Someday I'll will have most of these.
Another awesome list man, love it, I've been looking at that electric blue lately, however I recently got a Singapore blue and a Cyriopagapus hati hati, but youre awesome video quality really caught the beauty of that Electric blue man! incredible editing and footage man love it!
I love them calm fluffy and dark ...
My Wishlist .... Grammostola, Avicularia, Grammostola, Avicularia 😅 , Grammostola.....
Good choice!
Your videos are always dope🙌🏼
Wow! Love them all.
I'm in love with Obt's as well. I have 2 Bunny & Cheeto xx
I've been binging your videos for a little while now, and got my 1st T, a C versicolor just over a week ago. Really helped to get over my fear. Awesome videos 🙂
dude! I have 6 thriving, happy tarantulas now thanks to your channel and Tarantula Kat! Thank you for all the great info!!
So, I only have two out of ten must have Ts. Hm, guess I need to get some more. If I only had more space.
bet you ain't got any in the bathroom yet... plenty more room lol
“Idk I am not a scientist” sick channel man !
the theraphosa stirmi is definitely for experienced keepers.
man i really admire your passion and love for those animals. wish you all the best
Thank you very much!
Such a stonking list! We're only just starting our collection and this video featured 8 on the want list. Not a bad result!
I want all of them
But i dont have the experience or a mom that even remotely likes spiders, so the fact that she let me get a single one is a miracle to me
Great video Richard! Your top 3 were spot on and my favourite 3 species 🤣 i wouldn’t be able to choose which is in position 3, 2 or 1 🤣
Excellent list and great shirt!
Great, just the video I needed when I just bought four new T's and was already wanting more. My s.o is not enthused lol.
Awesome list, I'm glad some Fossorials still got some love!
The green blue bottle was just called BBT(blue bottled tarantula) in my area.
Woah im so glad i have a sling of top 1 and top 2 of this list w my 8 slings/juvies at the moment, and 15 more colorful slings arriving next week 😄
My OBT was my first old world and I just love when I catch a glimpse of her! Gingers for the win!💜💚
I'm a new keeper and my second lit of ts I got a obt and it's not as bad as people say I've made my set up similar to yours and it loves it home and started making wed tunnels strate away
Perfect selection 👍
