Dude, I can't believe I never saw this channel before. This is everything I want tuner content to be. No nonsense or fake drama, just a well-spoken, passionate guy sharing his wisdom who actually knows what he's talking about. You sir are a rare breed of creators that we desperately need. Respect.
The old heads have the knowledge but far and few share the information for free.
Same. I just came along this channel a day or 2 before and I quite enjoy it. It's pretty informative and it's nice to see him smiling all the time.😂

@@austinburgess9779Burgess gang and shoutout Zel
My brain 🧠 just melted with the amount of knowledge this dude has
This was amazing!!! I'm an Industrial Engineer and I actually am familiar with almost all of the metal treatment processes (although vaporhoning vs. sandblast finish was new to me!!!). I've got a 2005 Acura RSX Type-S garaged (it was my first "baby") and when I'm ready to get it done right, I'll msg you. I really, really appreciate your team's passion for deep knowledge.
Same here bought my DC5 10 years ago and still won't let it go!
You would seriously invest in all that ?? Your TSX still jn the garage hah ? Waiting ?
@@reed2896bought one about 10 years ago too ago have a dc2 GS-R and a few other cool ones
Mike is such a joy to watch and listen to! He's so knowledgeable and always pleasant
I love this guy and his knowledge; it’s a shame that the average gear head like me can’t afford to do these things
Yeah you can it just takes forever
Take your time, shop around the holidays for massive savings, and gather all your parts before you start. You can do it
Research, look and patience!
Also a bunch of let downs😭
u can tell he loves what he does looks like he can break out into laughter at any moment from the joy of talking about his work
I really enjoy your videos. Especially this one because I'm a backyard engine builder for my self building my own Hondas. Iv watched about 5 of your videos so far and I'm blown away from how detailed you are with your builds and in your videos. Keep it I'm loving this !!
Seriously. If this video was 8 hours long i wouldnt miss a second
I feel ya, I’m rebuilding my old sohc now, I love this dudes willingness to share.
Good teachers are priceless
I would love to hear Mike do a breakdown on MotoIQ's engine break in procedure. There's a lot of different and conflicting information about how to break in a new engine.
Look up mototune breakin secrets. That's the best method... and what car manufacturers use at the factory before the car gets delivered to the dealership... Yes, indeed, a cars engine is already broken in when it gets to the dealer.
People are really overthinking it. If built right, the engine wears itself in.
This guy is so chill.. I can easily understand him really well.. keep it up.
This channel will definitely blow up you are one of the most concise and thorough engine builders I have seen Motoiq would be my first choice for a performance engine build
100 percent!! Iv never seen anyone in my life build engines the way he builds them. Science !!!! 👍👍👍
Agreed. It'll have millions of views eventually
At first I thought you said this engine will definitely blow up. Had my heart going for a second 😅
Really enjoyed watching this guy's presentation, someone that really knows & loves his stuff. Very informative.
M8. I'm a 60 year old looking at K series motor. This video makes me want to travel up to where you are and do a build for daily driver and hill climb. I grew up with this and I can't afford coming from New Zealand. Dreams are free. Love your knowledge.
You guys did one of the best write ups ever on the K24Z7 frank swap running the K20Z3 head. I just got a donor Z7 motor I am planning to head swap and a lot of what I’m doing is based off of those building guidelines. Love the in depth content as always, especially as it pertains to the K series!
I never looked at Honda before my family has always worked for the big 3 living in Michigan. But since I'm about to be an empty nester I've always wanted to build a hot rod / tuner vehicle for fun on a budget compared to domestic cars .
Fantastic. A level of build I could never achieve but certainly enjoy learning about.
Mike thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Your knowledge is inspiring to all of us. I hope to one day know 1/10th of what you do lol. Great video!
This video is awesome. Im having a K24 built for my project car. 12.5:1 Weisco Pistons, Saenz rods, 4Piston CNC machined pistons, all motor valves, supertech springs and retainers, and DC 3.2 cams. im so pumped for for it!
Should run hard!
I really like your videos. I know nothing about engine building or hondas but my main man here described everything with proper acumen and I appreciate that. I learn something everytime he speaks. I have watched most of the subaru content. Thanks moto IQ and most importantly, thank you Mike! 👏🏾🔥✌🏾
Amazing video as always! You and your team deserve everything good in life. I have learned so much watching these videos. The suspension ones blew my mind, with all the knowledge you have on specific model/year vehicles. Keep up the great work!
Awesome video! Just bought a eg hatch & definitely will be doing a k swap 😎 Appreciate all this knowledge since this will be my first build.
This vid came on after I fell asleep lat night...I decided to go ahead and give it a listen today at work, and boy...you guys earned a sub. What this gentleman does for a living...I wanna do the same
Love your shirt dude. Thank you for giving out some of your earned knowledge. Few can properly use terms like quench, your knowledge is scary deep. I explained quench to my wife once and watched her eyes glaze lol. Forget thermal efficiency etc etc.
Man, I was fiending for more MotoIQ and here it is!
I can listen to this guy talk about this stuff all day...
Great video, I could listen to you talk engines and metallurgy all day.
The word of the day “trick” haha such a dope ass speaker/builder..
Really love the format of these videos. Finding engine builders of your company's caliber is tough, and it has me considering shipping my engine across the country. I really hope you get the chance to do a video on the SR. A lot of the builds out there are a bit outdated and I'd really love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for the video and information shared, I'd love to see you put this one together over a video session 💯
Super happy that this channel was recommended to me. A big fan of the K24A - have had dreams of getting something with more ooomph on the super crap CA gasoline (which I can hopefully still get to pass a stricter-than-necessary CA smog test). For eight or so years I have read of the potential from this overengineered-from-the-factory motor, yet hearing Mike Kojima’s high tech/enginNERD breakdown, I am convinced I might have to consult MotoIQ’s expertise for a longblock build.
I was just looking for this video on the channel the other day, and didn’t find anything. Then y’all made one for a k build! Love the video.
we did another one here. czcams.com/video/l58h4POjj54/video.html
This should be mandatory viewing for everyone considering building a k! Thanks Mike!
First time on this channel, and wondering do you work for these companies cause you freaking sold me bro. Dont even know if these are the best brands for me but hearing you explain this stuff and being able to understand it sold me 100% those companies should be paying you and you definitely shouldnt have to pay for stuff from them
This was amazing Mike. I have watched it 3x already.
Perfect, I was just hoping for you guys to put out a video on k series motors yesterday
Oh my god...I hadn't realized that this whole video is just about the pistons. So much to learn. I know absolutely nothing about internal combustion engine
The Man is a fountain of knowledge! Thank you!
All this sounds amazing, but I can only imagine what this costs. The K is king, I have two in my garage awaiting an old school Integra. Mad props from a young Acura technician, cheers guys!
Thousands lol 😢
I like how you are talking.
Building an engine is an art form. You've showed that you are into the art form.
How many K-series engines have you all built? 🤔
So glad I found this channel. Keep doing what y’all are doing, I love how easy it is to understand the concepts presented, while being in depth and teaching me something new.
Welcome aboard!
@@motoiq Hope you can share more detail on using oversized rings, thanks!
We just get oversized rings and hand grind the ends so we can set the ring end gaps exactly for each individual cylinder. This gives good leakdown.
@@motoiq Thanks! Really curious about how you do this, do you use 0.25 oversized ones?
Love me some K motors, but the video has sold me, I want you guys to build my RB!
Really enjoyed the video you show that not only you know a lot you seem to enjoy speaking about it as well keep it up :D
Thank you thank you thank you 🙏, love your videos and the good quality content
Mike and MotoIQ make the best videos on the internet.
Love you brother. Love it!!! I’m a gear head by nature. But a true admirer of the science of this world. And wow I’m blown away how you can give both
Wow, thank you
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
love to build my type r this way! cheers for the video!
Man, your IQ must be pushing 200+, I learn more from you than any trade school I went to. ThankYou. 🔧🔧🔧😎
Yes, would love more content on the cylinder head!
extremely well informed. thee best presentation ever. thanks a million.
Great K content as always Mike! Appreciate the info, will be used in our upcoming k24 build for sure!
The man, the myth, and the legend🙏🏽
Awesome info in here, thank you!
Also great video…your explanations are very informative and easy to follow almost like my dad is explaining something to me if that make sense 🤷🏻♂️😂
the k series is an amazing engine. You can tell how much he loves the platform. youd be a fool not to. i wanna swap one into an s12 lol.
Thankyou for all your motor knowledge..l have or had most of the motors you covered and have learned more in 5 min of your video than my lifetime of owning them...Thankyou 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Glad to help
@@motoiq I currently have a 13B, LS2 which l would like to build similarly to your 650 hp LS3...are all components compatible LS3/ LS2? Also you do cryo treat before or after wpc?
The important part is the heads. The LS2 has a big enough bore to support good square port heads. You always cryo before anything.
@@motoiq Thankyou for your reply... l appreciate your time and expertise🙏🏾
I wanna take full in depth course of auto mechanics theory taught by this guy I feel like he could teach you everything and anything about cars
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO!!
Our pleasure!
I'm thinking about doing a k swap for a 2011 nissan altima but I've never worked with a k series before so this is really helpful
What a legend lol. What great content. This gentleman needs a mic to drop. VTEC!!!!!
Love your Honda videos, more please need more input
Mike's voice sounds like Phil Jackson is giving me a lesson in K motors lol. Love the video. So informative
Dude great info I’m gunna binge watch your channel now 😂😂😂🧘🏼♂️💯💯💯
Please do
Freakin love this channel. Can’t wait to get my hands dirty with my 2023 integra. I’ve been dying to do things with it.
Now this is why I rolled outta bed today. Love the Honda content.
Enjoy the video?
LOVED THE VIDEO
Master Mike! Excellent video!
Great stuff as always! 💪
He’s not lying about wpc treatment. Did it to a sr20det back in to 2012 and the motor is still running.
I’ve been looking at putting a 2jz in my 1964 el Camino , but now I’m really considering a k series. Thanks for the detailed videos
Probably not enough torque.
Wow, I would love to have one of those engines!
That b13 Sentra SE-R in the back though!!!!!😍
I don't know why he has that permanent expression of holding a laugh like he's thinking "Poor neighbours they won't be able to sleep with that power" 😂
Dude please can we be friends 😬😬😬😬 you’re a legend man
You should make a step by step engine rebuild videos for all types of engines. I would definitely invest in your knowledge.
6:55 Dart just released a heavy duty cast 2JZ block, hopefully it catches on and they produce a heavy duty cast K series block.
My man always looks like someone is doing some funny shit in the corner of his eyes😂 love how he’s always smiling
I would really enjoy if you presented how to overcome the difficulties of the hot-V, from a heat management, maintenance, and modification perspective. I conceptually understand that there are downsides to these engines, but I don't understand them all, nor do I understand what is done to resolve them. Thanks.
You should have price breakdown for every motor especially the k series motor lol. Great content.
Loving the corolla in tge background
Great info . The 300zx in the back ground is 🔥🔥 . Still waiting on the vg30dett engine video.
That is coming.
i love the videos, always smiling, looks like hes keeping a big secret, and the secret is the next topic
i love all this information
Appreciate this video thanks
Do another video building the K20C1 fk8 Type R motor. It’s a totally different animal compared to the other K series motors. My head was port and polished by Tom at Portflow in Harbor City, Ca.
We would like to!
Would love to see one on a sr20, any video for the Sentra b13 in the back?
Perfect timing ❤
I can’t stop watching these videos. 😑 do the top end too!
First time viewer. Already subscribed to your you tube and Instagram. Love the detail/information. Putting in a request form on your website. Thank you
Simply the best
Mad Skills.
Love the Drift Alliance inspired t-shirt, where can I get one!?
This guy is just fun to look at.
Awesome videos. You talked me into it. Lol😂. Where do I go to order a motor?
I love this guy
Insideful video ❤
Very good video and inf do you do this but for a b18a
Needed for the Kmiata🙏🏽
When my K needs a tear down, I know where im taking it to
Vaporhoned looks awesome
The fact i wanna run 8.5 or 9.5. Im good for pump gas; this k swap build finna be killer
