      I agree that it's a balance of flow and velocity to match the block and intake manifold but I think Mike is trying to point out that ultimately if you restrict your flow you loose horsepower and if your going for 1000hp you will need the max flow available

    • @Ninjatuuna
      @Ninjatuuna Před 3 lety +9

      @@stutzman999 the stage 4’s have a nice amount of duration so the 90 would be quite ideal imo. The real downside with the 90 is the daily drivability is a bit rough so an 80mm would definitely be nice for a smoother daily driving experience but the 90mm just takes some getting used to. Currently we’re running a much more aggressive Ultra 3 cam on with stock block/ 90mm TB & it’s quite a fun street car!

  • @NoComp600
    @NoComp600 Před 4 lety +32

    My personal tip is when it comes to headers if you’re not going with a compression higher then 12.5:1 then don’t do a big tube 4-1 header. All stock block K’s need a big tube 4-2-1 header preferably like a TRI-Y design header because they flow very well and it keeps carrying the power range up top instead of falling down like 4-1 headers tend to do. Yes 4-1 headers will makes more power but they suffer up top with stock compression K’s and it’s pointless to have a lot of power if you can’t even deliver it right. I’ve come to this realization after seeing the dyno graphs on many many K cars my tuner has messed with and feeling it myself on my personal car when I made the change since I’m on a stock block 24 👍

    You all need to look at the parts you can pull from a RDX K23 engine, the rods in those are bigger than the tsx and can bolt right into the 24 block (keeping the old pistons) you can take the head and turbo that have turbo on them STOCK, and can bolt not to any other K Series. It also has ports to cool the turbo IN the block.
    I'm using my old Honda Element K24a4 block and buying a K23 for with 80k on it for only $600 turbo and all. Because no one messes with K23 they are CHEAP.

    Hey man, firstly I love your videos! I am hoping you might see this and respond. So I just got a k24a2 and own an 8th gen si (06). My plan is to simply put the 24a2 bottom on the z3 head.. I'll be getting a 20a2 pump and the rest necessary parts to put these two pieces together. I wont be doing any major internal work. Possibly getting the head to a machine shop for a look over, hot tanked and milled down. Would you mind taking a moment and giving some advice... How high can I safely rev with stock bottom? Any suggested work I should have done at the machine shop? I can't afford cams right now so should I also throw the tsx cams in the z3 head? Sorry to write so much but I would highly appreciate a response if you see this! Thank you and God bless!! .... If anyone has advice i'd appreciate it too!!

    A K24w9 head you can bolt a turbo directly to the head and have no lag. At least my 2016 CRV AWD CVT. 3768 is more than enough turbo for me. And a hondata flash tune 12.4 air fuel. It's just a fun family car racing it will probably blow it up

    Mike, what a great video man, been looking for this info for a long time, so thank you very much. For all of us 9th gen Civic Si Owners, with the “unhappy” k24z7 engine. It’s the same build that for the k24z1? I mean, relocate oil filter, type s oil pump, block oil jet, change pistons, use k24 head gasket ?. Aaand... for the engine management, is the stock ecu with Hondata Flashpro or Ktuner enough ? I’m thinking our engine comes with intake vtec only (yeah, so sad!)
