    This is a real Rally Sport Z-28. It's a tough muscle car that is very drivable. I took it home and really enjoyed it. It idles great, very responsive, steers straight, rides nice etc. It did everything right. The previous owner recently spent over $17,000 getting this car dialed in.
    EXTERIOR: It has a tough muscle look. It sits real proud with a great stance and good size Cragars. The body is straight and clean. Smooth along the bottoms, no blisters. It has spoilers, a fiberglass L88 hood and sport mirrors. Very desirable Rally Sport which includes the split bumpers with extended grill and redesigned turnsignals. Painted Midnight blue. The metal flake is laid out evenly, the clear coat is polished smooth and glossy. There are some scratches that were touched up. The stripes are painted on. The bumpers have been rechromed. The windshield was replaced. New weather strips and window seals. The tail lights are rewired so the inner lights are not just running lights, they also function as brake and turnsignals. The 15 inch Cragar wheels and BFG tires are new. They are fatter in back.
    INTERIOR: I love the new Retrotech gauges. The instrument panel was also replaced, new dash pad. The wiring was thoroughly gone through. Heater controls were rebuilt. The seats were recushioned and upholstered with more comfortable cloth inserts. 2 electric fans were installed and they make a difference keeping you cool. The roof was lined with sound deadener and the headliner and visors were replaced, dome light works. Door panels are very good original condition. Carpet is excellent, it has embroidered floor mats. It has a console with a new shiny B&M shifter.
    ENGINE COMPARTMENT: That's a crate 502 big block making 461 hp and 568 lbs of torque. It has a new Holley 780, Accel HEI distributor and ceramic coated Hooker headers A lot of miscellaneous work was done recently. Heater hoses, radiator hoses,, thermostat, heater control valve and trans cooler lines were replaced. Valve cover, header, intake and carb gaskets were replaced. New plugs and wires, adjusted kick down cable. New wiper motor and arms, new power brake booster and master. Cossfire ignition.
    TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Solid metal, it was lined with sound deadener.
    UNDERSIDE: Completely rebuilt brakes. In front new Wilwood rotors, pads, wheel bearings. In back new drums, wheel cylinders and shoes. Brake lines and hoses were replaced. All new fuel system including the tank, straps, insulators, filter and electric fuel pump. The steering box and steering coupler was replaced. New shocks and coil springs, has air shocks in back. Bottom of the motor is spotless, has new high torque starter, motor mounts and new flywheel cover. The 700R-4 overdrive automatic trans was just rebuilt and all new related parts. Has 2,200 stall converter, new dipstick tube, crossmember, cables etc. The drive shaft was rebuilt. The 12 bolt rear end was completely gone through. Detroit Tru Track 3.73 posi, ring and pinion, bearings, axles and chrome cover. 3 inch exhaust with crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. New subframe bushings and frame connectors were installed to prevent body twist. The floors are solid.
    I keep saying how it has a tough look. Well it has the muscle to back it up too. A 502 big block and a posi rear will walk the walk!
    I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
    Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
    **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.

      Actually 1973 was *when the auto manufacturers dropped the compression ratio and the horsepower went down.* Look at the difference between the *horsepower ratings of a 1972 Vette vs a 1973 Vette* and you will see what I'm talking about.

    Love the car, color, CRAGARS, tall deck etc.
    I would love to see it sit about two in. lower and spinner caps on the CRAGARS.
    I also like that it isn't perfect and how the exhaust exits vs the longer, factory type that I always felt looked kind of cockeyed.

    • @jefffawcett1626
      @jefffawcett1626 Před 3 lety +1

      The VIN will support any claim that's made regarding its provenance and clearly it's not a matching #s car with a crate 502 motor. The stock engine had been so detuned by that point in the 70s that a big block swap is a true upgrade to this build. All other things being equal the 73s will never carry the price tag of a first year 2nd gen car.
