Your Twin Cam 88 Can Be Much More Than A 95 Cubic Inch

- The solution for more power on a Twin Cam 88 has long been a 95ci bolt on big bore kit. But why settle for a 95 incher when the aftermarket offers bolt on kits all the way up to 100 cubic inches! You've got some serious options with bolt on kits that require no case boring. Fuel Moto, S&S and Revolution Performance offer competitive kits that make more reliable power than the Screamin Eagle 95 bolt on big bore.

Would you stay with a 95 inch kit or go with the 97, 98 or even the 100 inch Sidewinder bolt on?
As I’ve posted before I did do the SE 95 set up on my 2002 FXDL. I did add an oil cooler. The power is decent and the motor has been unbelievably reliable. I think if I was going to upgrade again that S&S 100 Sidewinder Kit looks mean and super easy. Also fairly cheap.
96" Twin Cam plus Sidewinder kit equals 110"?
The price of the S&S isn't too bad, it's not as good of a deal as the SE kit but it makes some serious power.
You are correct, they make one for the 96 and you can bolt on 110 inches.
I'll run my 88" against any displacement Harley heads/jugs
We're living in a horsepower upgrade age that 20 or 30 years ago we couldn't have even dreamed of.
Also, your channel focuses on the older motors and we get info here that is extremely important.
Thank you.
Right on! We're seeing horsepower numbers out of this 45 degree design we never thought possible now, well reliably anyway lol.
As many older bikers have always told me, I'm 66yrs old. The higher you go, the faster it blows. I'm plenty satisfied with 2002 deuce twin cam 88 gear drive 61,000 miles and still running strong!
Have you had to replace cam tensioner?
Everyone’s done that by 60k no doubt
Actually by 30 if your being safe

Excellent comment!👍
So I just did the s&s 100” sidewinder kit with 89cc super stock heads and Andrew’s tw55 cams, dynojet power commander 6 tuner with s&s 2-1 sidewinder exhaust. I’m at 7,000 feet above sea leave. I got 101 hp and 107 torque. One of the guys at work has a 2022 limited with a stock 114, I walk away form him.
What was the total cost on doing all that
Enjoy this video. Glad to see that us 88ci people weren’t forgotten about.
Thank you, the 88 is the last of later design engines that you can still get a carburetor on.
This guy is great. But the viewers commenting on all these videos are so valuable. So much knowledge and experience I feel like I know more about Harley’s than most Harley salesmen these days btw I went to Harley the other day and I talked to 2 kids who didn’t know know what a twin cam was 😂
You gotta be kidding me? I mean I am not shocked, but still they are selling Harleys and didn't even know what a Twin Cam was? We share a lot of information back and forth in the comments here!
I’ve been riding a used 88 I purchased four years ago. Last two years been pulling a trailer loaded with camping gear. No problems. Been to n west montana. Utah Arizona Colorado Illinois. Iowa. Wisconsin If struggled in high gear on steep climb. Just downshifted to fourth. No problems.

I like the fact that you put the pricing in with these upgrades. Thanks again for another great video.
Thank you! The prices vary quite a bit depending on where you decide to buy it from though too.
@@GixxerFoo I agree with you, I've been doing this for a number of years and I have less than 6 vendors that are extremely reputable in the aftermarket world.
(It fits like it should and everything I need is included in the package) so I've learned I don't mind paying the couple extra bucks for quality and service. HD upgrades can be expensive and I can't tell you how many times I talk to people that have ordered stuff that didn't give you everything you need. Point being that's how some vendors can offer it at a less price.
(That's been my experience)
As far as I'm concerned you rank right up there with doc Harley.
Thanks again for the great material you produce. I've enjoyed your channel for years now.
@@GixxerFoo S & S has a 100" Power Package Kit that in addition to the bolt in cylinders and pistons comes with TC3 oil pump, cam plate, pushrods with tubes, tappets and 585 gear drive cams for around $3,000. I'm not confident to do all of the mechanical work that requires. Would turn key labor for all this be around $1,000? Guess I need to find out from my local independant shop.
Watching your channel has caused me to spend a little bit of money. I have 2000 Heritage Soft-tail (carbureted) which started out pretty much stock. First I upgraded the cam plate with a Screamin Eagle setup and an S&S 509 cam set. To get it to start and idle a little better I re-jetted the carb and exposed the air/fuel mixture adjustment screw and adjusted that. I was somewhat happy with the results but like most Harley riders I thought I could get more out of the old girl. I then saw this video and purchased the S&S 100 kit. I had this installed by a credible Harley mechanic, he also sent the heads off for refurbishment and some porting. He also suggested installing Twin Tec ignition module and oil cooler which I have also done as well as a better air cleaner. It wasn't loud enough so put a set of Vance and Hines 2 into 2 pipes on it. With all that I'm still not very impressed with the performance. I haven't had it dyno tested, so I can't give any specifics. It starts good but I can tell a cam with a compression release would nice. Other than buying a bigger bike I'm sure what else I can do, plus my wife would kill me. I've also considered a Mikuni carb but can't handle anymore disappointment. Any Ideas?
That bike well tuned should be around 100 horsepower and torque, you might go with a little more cam if you're wanting more out of it.
This is a great channel, and your delivery is almost like listening to a good podcast. Rare. Subscribed.
Welcome aboard! I just try to get the information out there all in one place!
Yep I put Gixxer on at work ! I've listened threw his vids a few times over now . Always excited for new content
I have 02 Hertage softtail with Kerner two into one muffler! I got it at 26'000 now has 70'000 new starter and battery plugs wires all every done it it runs Great! Think am gonna go with SS 100 kit!
Hmmm
I have stock jugs with a 95" bore, ported heads, Andrew's midrange cams and a MasterTune pro tune and I'm pushing 100HP and 110 ft lbs...
I just recently found this channel and find the information very helpful and straight forward.
Thank you, l really appreciate it! Welcome to the channel, let me know if you have any video suggestions you would like to see.
My friend I would like to thank you, you have save me money dealing with my 2006 Road King 88 engine. I have owned four HD from 2006 RK, Electric Guilds to two Harleys Trikes 2016 and 2018. I still have my 06 Road King and of all the bikes I stated a second ago I love my 88 more then the others. I still have the 06 RK because I still LOVE the American Dream, about a month ago I traded my 2018 trike for a Honda Goldwing DCT, and my reason for the trade is because I was so tired of investment of my money into two bikes with the problem being the M8 not the 88 RK. I want to travel Long distance without the worry of a HD brake down. The RK is for small short trips around town and the GW is for long distance trips. In short and again thank you for your information that is power to customers owners of HD products, other upgrades products and last I STILL LOVE HARLEY-DAVISON MOTORCYCLES
The Gold Wings are no doubt reliable, those things run forever. The Twin Cam 88 is a very reliable motor, Harleys really aren't all that bad if you just keep with them and make sure they are gone over really well.
@@GixxerFoo Thank you, may God alway keep you and your family safe and God Blessing ALWAYS 🙂
This is the exact video I was looking for. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! I hope you found the information you were after!
If you only want to do the big bore kit with fuel moto sending in your cylinders runs you about 700 bucks. That's them boring out your factory cylinders selling you the piston head and base gaskets and then return shipping.
That's the best way to do it honestly, Hammer Performance does that too. Hammer's thoughts are they bore your cylinder out to the max, ride it till it's wore out, and buy some new twin cam cylinders for about $280 each. It's a huge savings over the kits just boring your factory cylinders.
It’s like your reading my mind... I’ve been meaning to ask you this exact question...thanks for the info...I’ll keep you posted on my build
That's awesome! Please do, keep me updated on your progress.
Only if you would enjoy it but you would do a killer podcast imo. I drive a semi and would enjoy listening for sure. Keep up the good work !
Thank you, l appreciate that. I'll have to look into doing a podcast, l really hadn't thought about that before 🤔.
Your have become a new go to. I really love your videos brother
Love your channel brother.
Facts in a fast, furious format frees up fools from fruitlessly fumbling around trying to find answers on the friggin net!!! I love this... right to the point... channel!!!!
I just sent my 2002 Softail 88" cylinders and heads to Hammer Performance for a 98" bore and porting with a new carb ignition module and cometic gaskets. They do a great job and are a leader in sportster line work. Super stoked to get the parts back.
Hammer does a great job on big twins too, a lot of people don't even realize they do work on big twins. They are reasonable to compared to these kits.
Here in central Japan I found a place that might do this (now that I am FINALLY got all the problems in my 2002 88 sorted) but its pricey. Im curious how much that's going to run you Harley Dave. It's a matter of whether the high cost here is worth it or not.
You'll notice a huge difference, it will be like a new bike.
@@shizuokaBLUES I do really like Sportsters, but, man, TCs do rock! For me, though no bike is an "investment", every penny spent on maintaining, upgrading or restoring any H-D motor is worth it. Sure, they're not the best engines out there, but unmistakably they have some sort of soul, like if they were alive.
👍 that's exactly what is so much fun about working on and riding Harleys.
I enjoyed you video on the 88".
I went with S&S Sidewinder 100" with screaming eagle 254E cams, at the time of the build the fly wheels were bad . They were sent out to Dark Horse crank works . They repaired them lighten& trued them .I put the 254E cams in myself .At the time of cams I had it on the Dyno, It tuned out at 79.7 hp & 80.5 ft lb of torq . It also had Fuel injectors upgraded to the 29 degree also fueling cam plate & high volume oil pump. I also put in the screaming eagle Sprocket compensator , the Harley variable pressure plate in the clutch in prep for the 100" . I don't know the what the out put is right now as I also upgraded the ECM to the thunder Max. I scared the hell out of a 117cu road glide one night would have smoked him but broke my clutch cable . I did this build on a 2006 Dyna Streetbob . my build is about a year old .
You've got that bike done right with all the parts you got supporting the build! You got a lot left in there if you want a huge power bump by swapping over to an aftermarket cam from the SE you got.
Gixxerfoo you have a great channel with the best information available 💪🐐👍🔥 Thank you for sharing your knowledge bro

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the support! We've had a major ice storm here in Oklahoma and I wasn't able to get another video this week. We'll be back next Friday for sure, but I a am hoping to get power back and get 2 videos for next week.
Excellent info - was looking for insight on the S&S 98 kit. Thanks!
I like the Twin Cam B engines. They are pretty smooth-running; and beside a little parasitic power loss due to the counterbalancers; it can still become a reliable and powerful engine. I have a pal who has a Deuce. He had head work performed (Zippers) and cams (Zippers) and H-D's 95 cu. in. kit. A hydraulic cam tensioner was added. A SuperTrapp exhaust was installed. He and his wife have ridden the bike from Ohio to CA and it's a daily rider -- no problems whatsoever.
Those B engines are awesome, the balancer system actually worked too well and caused issues with the transmission to fall between gears. They had to give it some vibration to help complete shifts. The loss is only maybe 2 horsepower at wide open throttle with balancer.
Thanks I just started investigating these kit s&s all the way
S&S is very high quality and they make the power, pricey. But there is is a good reason for it.
Hey Gixxerfoo, My ride is a ‘01 RoadKing Classic. Cams, pushrods, true dual exhaust, and I believe cam chain was swapped out and if my memory was better it probably includes some other items. Liked this video quite a bit, and it will go into my library. Although age is becoming a factor.
Love the channel brother, great videos!
Thank you! I appreciate the support, l will keep the videos rolling.
Last summer I upgraded to the S&S 100" and love it.
But, in 2018 I went with the Fueling 525 cams. Thinking about upgrading to the 543.
I am glad I saw this video very informative. I am going with the S&S big bore sidewinder gear dive kit😎 wake up my old 88 twin cam.
Did you do it yet how is it ? I'm in the market chain tensioner just started rattling today !
Hey Man! Thanks for the information on fuel Moto!. I just realized they are 14 mi away from my house. I have a 2005 deluxe and I'm stopping there tomorrow to have them put their 98 in big bore kit new cam plates with wood cams and do a dyno tune for me. I'm ecstatic about having a place I feel I can trust take my 88" to the next level.
Right on! That is awesome! You're very fortunate to be that close to those guys, they have a stupid amount of dyno tuning and experimentation to perfection on their kits. You're going to have one bad 88 when they get finished there!
Great videos with great information! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great source of information. Thanks!
Thank you, l appreciate your support!
Thanks for video, will probably go Fuel Moto cause I need tensioners upgraded as well. Cheers
I have an 02 Fatboy. And this has really opened my eyes And probably my pocket book to the idea of more horsepower. Seems like a good idea for me.
You've got the Timken bottom end on that bike too! It's way cheaper than a new one and you have something special when you're done. Not just another new bone stock stage 1 bike like you see everywhere.
@@GixxerFoo you're getting me excited about this bike again
You should really investigate the Fuel Moto kit. Everything you need to do it right. I’m torn between boring my cylinders vs buying cylinders
The FuelMoto kits are really nice, they cost more but you get everything you need in one place. Boring cylinders with the right parts works very well too!
I love my 88 v-twin,even running motor with great balancing and also decent power but seeing this vid makes me want to jump to the 97,I’ve got 25,000 on my Heritage Classic(03),100 year anniversary

Glad to hear it! That's why I like making these videos and putting all the information out in one place.
Another great video. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for watching!
I have a 2003 FXD Superglide. Put the S&S 100 kit in along with Screaming Eagle heads and 50 mm carb. It has been ten years now, and the bike still rips with absolutely no problem. It is a solid combination.
Generally you would think bolting on a kit like that is going to decrease reliability. My opinion has always been just the opposite, if you keep it reasonable. Now if you put a monster cam and insane compression that's where it gets iffy.
@@GixxerFoo it has a 625 cam kit, and Darkhorse flywheels. Lots of work. I don’t go crazy with it, but enjoy the power.
Whew... damn. It's definently got some work, more than enough to get in trouble!

That's pretty amazing hp for either kit, thanks for sharing this with us Brother, much appreciated 💯🤜🏼🤛🏼
It is pretty impressive, aftermarket kits makes some real power compared to Screamin Eagle.
@@GixxerFoo yeah that's one reason I was thinking about a Zipper kit on my 2017 with the 107ci , give me your honest opinion on what route you would go with the 107, I would appreciate it 💯👍🏼
I'm not really familiar with the Zippers Kit for the M8, but l would go with a bolt on 124 and a nice torque cam on the 107. The 4 valve head really opens a world of possibilities on those.
@@GixxerFoo thanks brother, I appreciate your input 💯🤜🏼🤛🏼
No problem, just watch the power numbers and the price. Especially with aftermarket kits, the right combination can really make some power even if it's smaller displacement.

Dang that's a hell of a setup right there, that's gotta be a handful if you get out of shape.
Have that Zipper 95 kit with the 577 cam (ThunderJet equipped S&S G carb version) on my '99 Super Glide Sport, dyno 106.1 hp and 104.0 ft-lbs with S&S slip on mufflers. I haven't had it on a dyno yet with the Vance & Hines 2 into 1 exhaust set up on it now.
2001 FLHTCUI, I went with the Dave Mackie 95" with DM590 cam, 20° JM domed piston's, Heads and Cylinders done by DM, 51mm ThunderMax EFI, V&H 2n1 chrome pro pipe... I wanted to jump the HP and TQ but still maintain reliability for touring, I am 64 yo not looking to enter the Senior National Bagger Championships lol I am at about 105HP and 104TQ.. still get great fuel mileage unless I twist to go...
That's the best way to go about it right there, good solid power and still reliable.
Had Kevin Baxter build my 88 to a 117 on my trike conversion. It runs great down the interstate at 70 & 75.
Kevin Baxter builds a damn good motor, I would trust that guy all day every day. I bet that trike flys now!
GREAT info!

Anytime! I appreciate you watching!
Fuelmoto worked for me .right on on their support..
Those guys are awesome there! Best support out there I have found.
Dollar for dollar I went with Hammer Performance. 98 in. mild cam, mild porting, 9 1/2 to 1. V&H Shorties, Dyno Jet tune. HP and torque just over 100hp. 05 Softail very quick.
That's the way to do it, not a lot of people know Hammer does work on big twins. They are really known for their Sportster exploits, it's a huge savings having them bore your cylinders like that. I like that they are up front about boring to a 98 being a one time deal, a lot of places won't tell you that.
@@GixxerFoo Why not just bore to a 96", leaving headroom for the next rebuild? 'Course, I'm financially strapped and ride a LOT.
That's actually very cost effective and Hammer Performance has a really good deal on bore jobs for Twin Cams.
My 2002 Dyna has the 97ci kit with the 510 cams and ported heads and runs like a MoFo. I’m currently doing my 2004 softail with the 98ci kit with 510 cams and head work. I can’t wait to see the difference between the two kits. Both bikes are carb bikes.
You throw some head work in there like you've done and they will easily break 100hp. That's better than the average on any of the 103's out there.
I just bought a 98" kit from Zippers. I'm going with 9:5-1 compression and head work. I was concerned with how thin the skirts are. Will I still have good reliability going from an 88 to 98 inches? I've got a new SE cam chest and high flow oil pump, Jagg cooler, Mikuni 42 mm carb, K&N, Supertrapp 2:1, SE .510 cams and gear drive on my 01 FXDX
@@paulfiore7083 I think you’ll love it

Happy to help! I love to get the information out there for everyone!
I have the sidewinder 100 inch jugs and pistons. Also running ported super stock heads 10.5.1 cpr and 575 lift cam set and i just got 125 hp at the tire and 115 lbft . This is a 05 fatboy i built and boy it runs
Making them M8 guys that spent the big bucks mad!!
Im glad for this video.
Im going to be having the 100 s&s kit installed and my local shop explained the difference much as you did. The bigger cc seems to pay on dyno. Im running a stock 88 now and will let you know how it changes.
The 60ish hp it has now is pretty slow and disappointing. I did pipes and power commander then finally cams and its still needs more to be up to speed bike only 5 years newer.
The increase in bore is going to pay dividends in torque! A good cam with a compression bump is going to give you a serious horsepower boost! Best part is all that is a lot less expensive than a new bike you have something special when you're done.
What cams did you use ?
So how did the build turn out?
Great info
i like big inch, BUT, i want tall gearing, for maximum range. i love using big motors, running lazily, giving crazy range. so far my best was a 58mpg chopper, set up for touring, 6 gallon tanks. i want to see 65-70mpg. someday. so light weight bike, with suspension, but big motor, tall gears, and ride, i was once a 40k mile a year rider.
40K a year?! That's more than most cars see in 3 years!
good explanation, I have an 89 fxr .. and I planned to put an 88tc on it .. and I see the advantage of reaching 98 in the future .. greetings ..
Why do you want to swap the Evo out of your FXR?
I've got the fuel moto 98ci kit, I even went with the ported heads they offered. Everything bolted up great and the bike was running great. I just need to get a starter now and a 2 into 1 pipe to help with the power. The 6-6 cams do fall on their face after 3500 or 4000rpms. I feel like I should have went with the other cams but I'll run with these for now.
FuelMoto has some mean kits, that 98 kit runs very strong!
How much did everything cost?

That kit will transform your 88, the short stroke of the 88 makes for one hell of a motor once you get them worked over!
@@GixxerFoo what’s a better cam for my 88? The 509 or 510?

Awesome content man. I have a ‘06 Dyna Lowrider with 88 TC engine. I’ve done full pipes, aftermarket air cleaner, and custom tune (Powervision Dynojet). With winter coming and having 36k miles on it, I’m gonna pull the cam cover off and see what’s going on in there. I’m leaning towards a 509 cam mid-low end cam since this is my “bitch around town bike.”
I am Low Rider guy myself, l love those bikes. You've got a good setup going on your bike. The front tensioner is easy to see but the back is a real pain. It's a good thing you're looking in on it with 36k.

1600 miles on an 03? The cam chain tensioner system is really the only draw back on the 88. Once you get a hydraulic in there you're golden. I appreciate you're support on the channel!

@@shizuokaBLUES As for the stator, no problem. As for the overheating, it is an issue if the bike is driven in a traffic jam, but anyway, an air cooled motor likes continuous riding, so overheating is not even a concern if air flow is constant.
Omar Salgado well my stator melted this summer because of the insane heat and humidity (and exactly as you said -being caught in a traffic jam). But it was 18 years old and this is central Japan
🥵 so what do I expect eh?
I’ve never had an oil cooled engine before because my bikes have always been Yamahas or Suzuki’s built for these brutal summers. Live and learn.
Thanks for your comment.
As for bike as a non-investment I agree. My investments and savings are there to pay for things like this and that’s part of the joy of life if you are blessed enough to afford it.
But I will say that ....selling a made-in-Shizuoka Yamaha SR400 (single /40 year old design) for an older dyna with built-in issues WAS one of the stupider things I’ve ever done. I’ve gone from loving riding in the mountains to quietly dreading it. Will it break down YET AGAIN? Will it cost me another 1K or another 2K? What’s next -the starter? The main bearing ? The transmission bearing ?
I’ve realized that riding an older Harley is a hobby and should be your second or third bike. The first one or two being Japanese or newer harleys (and you have a serious garage and tools)
So I half agree with you and half can’t quite see due to the mistake I’ve made of listening to Harley fans
Who won’t objectively look at their bikes (out of loyalty and ego) and only encourage others to be more like them. But live and learn and be grateful for even having a beautiful old motorcycle , a luxury in and of itself. This I Know
Happy riding and cheers 🍻
@@shizuokaBLUES Such a sad thing, really. I think you bought a seriously trashed bike. I say this because I own two H-Ds, one since very brand new 2007 Sportster and a used 2005 Softail, which both have needed maintenance, one from abuse and the other from being stored almost seven years, but not tragic failures. Indeed, I can state that the abused one, the Sportster, has stood all the beating like a champ. I remember one day that I rode it for 14 continuous hours and it never hesitated. Indeed, the stator broke years later due to maintenance negligence. That's why I say you bought a very abused bike in the interior. But overall, if proper maintenance is done in time and form, the bikes are bulletproof, and though I own a couple, I'm not that of a fan, because I like other brands, including the Japanese sport bikes. I have to tell you that any bike will have its issues if abused and not maintained, including the Japanese ones, which I've seen broken down on the road.
Greetings.
There are several deals available doing the big bore kit, as of June 2022, that seem appealing. I have done the S&S 509G upgrade and am now considering whether to go with new cylinder heads or doing the bore. 97" is under $1,000 and 100" is just wee bit over that. My bike is a 2003 FLHTCI with 26,000 miles on it. I am willing to put another couple of thousand dollars into it just to increase reliability for a cross country trip. It has plenty of power and torque, for an old guy! I can do all of my own work. What do you think, new cylinder heads or the big bore kit?
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Question. I thought I heard you say the Fuel Moto cylinders had more cooling surface/fins early in your video, and then at the end you said S&S.
So did you misspeak? Do they both have that feature? Am I a poor listener? Lol
Thanks for the breakdown and information!
What changes would need to be made on a carbureted model being upgraded? Additionally, what oil cooling system do you recommend and can you do an explanation on the install? Love the vids bro!
Thank you! Each manufacturer will recommend a starting point for carb settings. Definently a jet kit and going richer, they are gonna need some fuel for sure. Harley oil coolers are really good, Jagg would be my choice in an aftermarket cooler. Jagg has coolers with thermostats and fans, those are really awesome setups.
Jag makes the Harley Coolers!!
I'm thankful for you and your channel. I've owned a couple HD, s. Cut my teeth on the iron head, then I had a 93 Fatboy, EVO, s are fabulous little engines. I recently purchased a 06 Flhpi. Your channel has taught me about the TC and the options I have to choose from. Thanks brother
Harley stock heads can't breathe for nothing ported heads will bring more life to your engine than you can ever imagine
That's been a serious draw back on the twin cam for sure. Also the low stock compression doesn't help either.
Thank you for a very valuable information 👍👍
Would it be possible to make a video about big bore kits for the 88” that DO require case machining and crankshaft work ?
Or , maybe even kits that offer new crankshaft, if there are any 🤔 ?!
How expensive would it get ?
Do you have to find a shop to do your machining locally or can you send your cases or even complete engine to those who offer the kits for a complete big bore overhaul?
Thanks
👌👍✌️
Not a bad idea, S&S and Zippers make serious kits with stroker cranks that you get to do a full case machining with. I believe with S&S they have a program where you can send your cases in, l know they do that with your heads.
You should do a 100 inch sputhe evo build. Evo cases with twin cam jugs. Alot of guys use them in fxr builds
I have a 03 FXD with 95in., Joe Mondello Heads, DarkHorse crank, Wood TW8G cams, Runs great but whenever I want to rebuild I'm going 100in. 4in stroke 4in bore
I have a 2000 heritage. 95ci darkhorse crank 4in stroke 10.25.1 compression pistons. Screaming eagle ported heads and intake mikuni 45mm vance and Hines pro pipe tw60a Andrews cams. 560 lift screaming eagle lifters and adjustable pushrods and screaming eagle cam support plate and oil pump and throttle hungry appetite
Your bike sounds like a blast to ride! It's for sure built right 👍.
@@GixxerFoo think I might switch to the 100ci now but dyno tuned I'm at 120hp and 105ft pounds torque
@@GixxerFoo the only problem I have with my bike is the dang speedometer isn't big enough I hit 120 and plenty more left.
Damn those are strong numbers! A 100ci kit would definently bump that, you'd be getting even more massive torque.
😆😂👍, at that point you may not want to know how fast you're going.
How do you feel about fueling horsepower plus kits with a high volume oil pump and the 543 reaper cams? That's what I put on my two thousand do and it boosted the horsepower a lot
Wish I would have seen this video before I built my heritage with a custom 98" kit
A 98 can really produce some power, did you build that out of an 88 with the short stroke crank?
@@GixxerFoo I had it bored to its limit with port and polished heads, with bigger valves, cam carb. Diamond cut heads and jugs then powder coated. The only thing I didmy was change the stock crank. Hind sight I should have just bought a bigger motor, I have like 6k in the motor and it putting out 102hp with fishtails on it. Dont get me wrong it's quick as he'll but probably won't touch a built 107
I think I'll cancel all of my other CZcams subscriptions. You have got my attention.
😆😂👍 that's awesome! I still watch a lot of videos myself too, I like to compare opinions and see what others are doing as well too. Some I agree with and others I wanna know the who, what, when, why and how.
I have stock heads, power commander and s&s 509 gear drive cams in my 88. Would the 509 cams be good for the s&s 98 and 100 kits? Great info.
I'd stay with the 95"... I like to leave room for improvement and rebuildability. Longevity is also a concern. Cost is another. At some point a S&S crate motor is better.
Not a bad idea, you can't beat that S&S motor. Those motors already have all the defects engineered out.
Those are some the coolest motors ever! They are literally true pan and shovels but with modern updates that you would never know are actually there.
Thanks for the reply. I don’t trust the Harley guys and I really want to do this myself.
I don't blame you, l don't really like using shops either. I do everything myself unless it requires machining lol.
I have a Early production 04 Road King custom converted to a stripped Classic.
Carb motor CV 44 woods needle. SE manifold. S&S air cleaner back plate kit.
203 cams with Upgraded cam tensioner and cam plate & pump & bearings. I wanted to do heads however all the heads had too much running compression. SE ignition for cams and big bore kit. Now Harley has Factory ported heads that keep compression stock as 203 cams need to stay under 9.5 static .
I feel this is a good upgrade for 88 or 95 milled motors. I really comes on around 60 mph. However t don't do much hyw driving. I don't want to have to upgrade my starter as it is sensitive to hot starts sometimes. I'm running a oil filter billet cooler which looks cool lol. Any thoughts 💬💭
Yup; that’s way I’m go’n - 🤠✊👍🏻👌 hd has the 4”cyls with steel liners that fit in the case spigots - they are for the 96 so you will have to hunt for pistons 4” stoke and rings for steel liners .
It's really not a bad deal at all, if you shop around you can get those kits a lot cheaper than advertised. RevZilla has S&S products a lot cheaper.
GixxerFoo czcams.com/video/A1j1gQ5iaVM/video.html
These will fit the 88 spigots and you can buy cyls together without pistons and rings $400
GixxerFoo right on ; I’ll check price ; but S&s @ $1500 is out my price range -
Yeah they aren't that much shopping around, retail price is high on S&S.
GixxerFoo I got a price on the pair of 4” cyls at Harley dealer for around . $450 . Add weisco pistons and rings another $300 I believe.
Lol 11 degrees the other day... I think that's about my limit. Ty
11 degrees?! Yeah l think l am out on that too, bike will run cool though.
I did the SS 97 inch and Delkron heads with Feuling camchest 90 hp 95 tq
Those are some pretty good numbers! What compression ratio did you go with?
@@GixxerFoo should be 10.1
Nice info, Thanks. Question: I just bought a 2003 FXST Carbed w/ hooker headers, want more power so what about this plan. I'm thinking of the S & S 100 ci kit, S & S super E carb, 585 cams ? and entire cam chest upgrade, head work also. Do you feel this a viable plan or am i missing something. I want power but still have a daily cruiser without having to wrench on it constantly. Thanks for your help in advance and Take Care Brother..
I already encountered my first issue n the break in...may have a lil too much torque id like to believe...but honestly idk what happened..my pulley broke..all 5 screws..so ima drill n tap or "ez out" ....this thing is a monster...i ran down a stock m8 114 breakout ..i need a tune now. My ecm is locked with tts master pro...what can i donto start fresh get a new ecm..btw im the guy with the screaming eagle 103 with mild worked heads 543 reaper cams domed pistons fueling oil pump amd camplate...im unsure what to do next. I may be thinking too small...why not 124 if im have to crack the cases anyway..
would you have any suggestions on a higher lift cams for a "06 FLHXI with the Harley 95" big bore kit installed, I run the Bassani true dual power curve exhaust with 4" Road Shark mufflers.
GixerFoo, you mentioned easier starting regarding cams with the S&S kit. Would you review the S&S Easy Start cams that they have available that are supposed to make large cube, high compression engines easier to start and easier on the starter?
I love your videos! But I am not mechanically inclined at all. I would love to beef up my 2006 88 V-Twin. Are there any places that you could recommend out in California that could do this for me? Thank you
No sure about specifically about California but I do know there are a lot of excellent independent shops out there. There's a huge market out there since you can ride all year round.
Got a 14 vmax . 225 hp to rear wheel with pipe and tune
They took an already insane bike and made it even crazier when they redid it.
