- You can take your Twin Cam 96 to a 110, it doesn't have to be a 103 to get the big inches. More torque comes with bigger inches and paired with the right cam setup you can get horsepower into the upper ends of the dyno charts. There is a kit for every setup out there, basic kits are perfect if you already have a cam upgrade. If your bike is stock there are complete kits to cover the camshaft and big bore parts your need to make a complete conversion to a 110.

What kit do you need? A basic bolt on with your existing cam or a complete kit with cam and supporting parts?
First off, great video. GixxerGoo, you always break it down for the masses. Bravo!
I'm conflicted when it comes to mods like this. I think people need to think about cost, pound-for-pound value, and timing. Big bore kits are expensive, and in my view, you need to go for the kit with the most value. In my view, this has always been Fuel Moto. When you factor in timing (i.e. putting in a kit in the infancy of a motor) then S&S is the way to go given the camchest upgrades. Here's the challenge: where does it end? If you do one of these kits, you are certainly going to have replace your clutch and compensator. Many of these kits will also need head porting and perhaps even a bigger throttle body. My point is that no one should be looking at these kits as a final solution. The hidden costs of buying are significant.
I've chatted with my wrench about these kits from time to time, and his answer is always the same: cams and a free-flowing exhaust are the most cost-effective way to go. "Spice" things up later down the road (after some big miles on the bike) with an aftermarket big bore kit. When I asked my wrench what drives the sales of these kits if camchest upgrades are all you need. He said money/greed and ego. Food for thought...
Oh he's very correct about the big bore kits, the cams will net you in the high 90's for horsepower. Very cost effective option. Big bore kits are great but you really do need ported heads to take full advantage of the setup. There are some decently priced clutch options and compensator eliminators are a great solution. But honestly it just keeps going, it's best to be all in if you're going to do it. I really appreciate you watching, the support means a lot to us on the channel.
@@GixxerFoo Curious as to how you rank the Screamin’ Eagle Tire Shredder Kit versus the options that you put out in the video. If you were starting with a 103ci, which kit would you go with? Forget warranty considerations.
Without warranty concerns l would be calling up FuelMoto up. Those kits paired with a Wood cam will make more power for less money. FuelMoto will send you a tune to get you rolling and excellent support after the sale.
The video did not compare a tw-222 to tw-7H
That poor shelf is still hanging on for dear life... LOL
🤣
Was thinking the same thing😂
Complete s&s kit with ported heads...once and done. I’m pasted 35k miles on this set up with no issues (minus a few clutches) I did all the work myself and it was my first time in a motorcycle engine. I’ve built 100’s car engine in my days, so if your a handyman do not be fearful of this project. Do your research, get your parts and tools you need, get your tune and put the breeze on the knees.
It's really not that hard and a factory Harley manual is very comprehensive, I don't think I've ever seen a better manual. That's the beauty of a Harley is the simplicity and ease of working on them.
Did you do anything with the bottom end? timken converstion? Crank work? THanks
@@qmac10 no, I didn’t touch it. The engine lasted with the S&S kit for 42(ish)k miles. It was time for a big over hauling, so I did the right thing, I squeezed a 131cu in that bike. That bike was an 09 fat Bob, fun bike, a bit different and I wanted a little more of everything. Now keep in mind, all HD’s are chunky boys, if you really like to push the bike by all means do the bottom end. I had my show off moments, but most of my flex was the 11:1 compression and a choppy cam, for me it was all about the noise. I didn’t get the kit this host is referring to, I called S&S and had a good conversation with the customer service. Those guys know there shit, and sent me the kit we agreed on. Like I said this was my first time rebuilding a bike, I had the tools and a long winter to figure it out. Honestly only took me a few days, then to the tuner I went.
Love this!!! So what the man is saying is grab your balls build your own bike and there will reward will be untouchable
I got the s&s kit with the 585 cams, ported heads with bigger valves, 2 into 1 rush racing exhaust, trask air cleaner, dyno tuned made 126.4 hp 132tq. Put 25k on it so far no issues and i love it.
I no longer wait until the end of the video to "drop a like"...always great content sir!!!
I really appreciate that. Thank you so much for supporting us!
Thanks for mentioning the runnout. Too many people think the gear driven is the way to go and never consider the runnout.
Not a problem! It's a big deal for installing the gear driven cams. Too many order parts then find out about it later 😬
I love all your harley videos! Thank you so much. You’ve helped me choose my cams, cam plate and more. I’m extremely happy w my bike now.
Thank you, I really appreciate it! That's awesome to hear, it's hard to get a straight answer since everyone wants to sell you what they deal in.
Dude, I've learned so much from your videos, man I appreciate you...
Definetly got my subscription. Keep up the good work
Exactly the explanation I was looking for, thanks !
Great video real helpful ive been thinking of a 110 kit but if you're not going up compression with the 110 you're going backwards. The 103 with good cams and head work will make more power.
This was definitely the video I needed for my Road King. I’m planning to go from 96ci to 110ci.
It's gonna be like a whole a ride! Better get your brother up to speed first though! Enjoyed the video on getting the exhaust on the 750 👍.
Always clear & correct content! Thank you bro!
Appreciate it! There's a lot of great products out there beyond the Screamin Eagle catalog.
@@GixxerFoo Yes definitely!
Brother really puts thoughts on my mind about power in the same mindset. Pine barrens NJ. Via the PINEY
Thanx 4 upgrades n Technology, i.e. after market quality parts.😎
Fuel Moto sounds KooL,,,Barells cams and HeadWork
I hear so much good stuff about Fuelmoto.
Customer service, pricing etc.
In New Zealand we get screwed over with shipping and import costs
FuelMoto is awesome but it is expensive for over seas shipping, especially now with the supply chain issues.
As for myself I have a 96 2011 road king pretty much stock have stage ll exhaust and intake plus a tunner, getting ready to consult with my mechanic but I'm thinking of going with the S&S kit I've heard good things about the 585 came. If course with any upgrade as it's already been mentioned adding more power is going to put more stress on whatever you don't upgrade for that reason I feel it's best to have everything checked out before and if you have to spend a little extra money it's best to take care of it while getting your bike upgraded and not when you going down the road somewhere.
I started by buying a set of second hand cases had them sent to Holden brother’s in Wisconsin had them put in one of their Dark horse crankshafts with timken bearing conversion..
Purchased a second hand heads and had them ported larger valves high lift springs enlarged cylinder chamber to keep the compression to ten to one as recommended by S&S for the cam I chose
Then purchased a 100 cu in (the bike is an 03 88) big bore kit from S&S with easy start gear drive 583 cams including roller rockers, quickie push rods super e carburettor and a Morris magneto
So now I have the engine I want now I am starting on the primary and the transmission otherwise I would probably shred the standard parts
Now that's doing it right! That's the way to do it with second hand parts, you did one hell of a build from the crank up. Yeah, fair to say you would of shredded the stock components ok that build 👍.
I’d definitely buy the S&S kit
Thx on the info for my 96 build
Great video and thank you !
- I've got a 2014 SG with a fairly stock 103. I got rid of the stock headers and went with Fullsac & S&S intake then tuned it with a power commander because it was still under an extended warranty . . . then, while still under warranty I screwed up and spent the money on SE585 cams, SE lifters and adjustable pushrods and as a result I lost a ton of low to mid range power and TQ.
So I'm looking to increase my compression and that's how I found my way here...
I know I need to check my runout, I don't know about my cam plate or oil cooler and I think I'll be getting rid of the power commander and going with a powervision flash.
There seems to be a conflict between tuning shops of keeping the 02 sensors - Here's the options I've heard:
Powercommander - Eliminate 02 sensors
Powervision Flash - Swap out narrow-band 02 sensors for wide-band only for the dyno/mapping and then once the readings are done, turn off 02 sensors in the map and put back the narrow-band sensors since they're not part of the equation anymore and running the 02 sensors risks running too lean and burning it up.
Powervision Flash - Using the wide-band sensors so the ECM can do it's thing and improve fuel economy.
I realize this subject of tuning is a different rabbit hole . . .
Just leave your 02 sensors and get it flashed and tuned with the Power Vision with a map that matches your current setup. You could just get a ThunderMax with wide band 02 sensors and be done with it.
Excellent Video!! ✊🏿
Would love to upgrade my bone, stock 2010 Road Glide with the 96 cu inch. Just crossed 50 K miles, so now might be a good time. As you said, the complete
SS kit, may be the best option. It does seem to runs strong with the Screaming Eagle stage 1 and V & H 2-1 Pro pipe. Great video!
The S&S kits are a great way to refresh the top end and gain some power, I love S&S for the amount of R&D that goes into their products.
Been using S&S stuff since the 70's, ...you know what I'm putting into my 103.
S&S makes some solid products, they know how to make a Harley run!

Very welcome! Thank you for supporting us!
Really good info. Harley should just work with these companies and offer these kits factory installed.
Interesting and good video thanks for sharing
We appreciate your support and thank you for watching! I really hope it was helpful and informative.
Fueling has very reliable and reputable parts and there plate and oil pumps are the best out there no joke
I prefer Feuling myself, you can't beat their OE cam plate and pump for a swap on a stock crank bike. It has looser tolerances than the race plate and oil pump to handle some crank run out.
I get the attraction to drop on kits but I still say discussing modifications to your own cylinders, heads, and your riding style with a well-known company with a great reputation is the best way to go. They will make sure you get what you need versus what you think you need. So many riders make costly mistakes with mismatched builds and spend the same dollar twice or worse three times before they achieve their goal.
Hammer Performance has some really cost effective options for boring your existing cylinders out. You lose your overbore later on since they take them to the max, but twin cam cylinders can be bought relatively cheap. Hammer will also port your heads and make sure everything matches before they send it all back to you.
@@GixxerFoo Those are great prices. Have you mentioned them in past videos?
I haven't talked about the shops out there that will do cylinder bores yet, just the bolt on kits so far.
Mine is completely bone stock, I'm getting a full custom engine built this winter. Going to a 110. Getting the gear driven cams, ported heads, welded cam, flywheel is being sent out to dark horse to be made perfect tolerance. When my mechanic emails me my list of parts I'll post it here. Motor before the pro-charger is 7100
Damn I would say you're getting it done right! It doesn't get any better than that!
Hello! can you make a video about upgrading the breaking system? And talk about the different options avaliable. Keep on with the great content
That's not a bad idea at all, there's a lot of great options out there for brake upgrades.
K so I got the big shots on, tune done (fp3 can)
My sleeve nut is working very well, had to use the screaming eagle gasket though, they seem insufficient but no leaks
Have to say though I'm super dissapointed in the power for $2500
From s&s 3" slip ons no baffles I thought I'd see a decent gain
2007 Street Bob 96
I need more power
Been through most of your vids a few times
Really torn on my next step
I’ve got a twin cam 96 on my flhtcui im thinking my choice will be midrange woods cams and fuel moto modified screaming eagle heads. For my performance wants and $ this is my sweet spot. The fuel moto pistons and thick jugs are tempting but again on my particular engine for my wants of above average midrange power and road-trip reliability this is the special salsa.
Another option is the SE 103 to 110" conversion kit (includes heads). Not high compression, but with the right cam and tune, big fun. I've got this kit on my 2014 Slim with a CycleRama 570-2 cam along with a Power vision which puts me right around 100hp/116tq. And another shout out to Fuel Moto. Keep up the great vids, GixxerFoo!
Thank you! So you did the Screamin Eagle kit and just changed to an aftermarket cam?
Correct-selling the 255 cam. I had the CR570 installed a short time before, then got great deal on the SE kit. Still needs a tune but works pretty good as-is! I've got a Jagg fan/oil cooler to install over the winter because these motors generate a lot of heat.
They do put out some heat when you start building them up, great for winter riding though 👍. Can't beat a deal on a SE kit, they aren't bad kits they just need what you did with the cam. What tuner are running on your setup?
True about winter riding! Cylinder temp got to 290' this summer with oil about 230'. I understand this is pretty normal for these but I'd like to get it bit lower. I'm using a Power vision. It's just a reliable torquey little bike. Real snappy response, 3rd and 4th gears provide the thrill factor-all good!
That oil cooler with a fan assist will help with cooling it own quite a bit. CycleRama makes some nice cams, l believe FuelMoto carries them too. Where did you get your cam from?
All out with the gear driven cams.
Gear driven cams keep the timing in line for sure!
I have a 2016 FLHTK Ultra Limited 103HO
I bought this bike new and changed a few things myself.
Fuel Moto 2-1-2 head pipe no catalytic converters stainless steel ceramic coated inside and out,
4” Rinehart mufflers, Roland Sands Black Ops Hi Flow Air Filter, Zippers ThunderMax ECM which comes with the Wide Band Sensors. Now I’am thinking of making it a 110” motor with Cylinders and Pistons, Cam, Cam Chest and Oil Pump. Possibly a new Compensator. Just waiting for some free money! 😳
Thanks for the great videos.
😎👍🍻
Thank you for the support! The 110 kit would really add some spice to that bike! Sounds like you got a nice solid setup already but that 110 would really make you smile for some highway roll ons. Honestly building a 110 yourself is going to be a lot better motor than the 110 right out of the factory.
@@GixxerFoo Thanks for the quick response back. It might be a while before I can afford to do the upgrade but that’s what I’am wanting to do at least a different cam and cam chest & oil pump for now. Thanks have a great day I know I will as today is my 70th birthday it’s hard for me to believe it. Lol 😂
Been looking around myself and the zippers 107 muscle kit looks promising as well.....cant decide.....lol
There's a lot of options out there to pick from, Zippers kits are no joke. Those kits make some serious power.
I guess I would need to get my heads done and the S&S
Gear driven cams do require a crank pinion shaft runout of less than .0003in. If it's more than that, then go with the chain driven cams. Balancing a H-D crank is pricey. Just my $.02. I am going to upgrade my 103 ci 2012 Tri Glide with the S&S 110 kit over the winter and have it ready for next year.
I think I’m going with FM and get the heads ported. I prefer chain driven cams.
I have Andrews cams on my 103 plus screaming Eagle intake and reamed out Vance and Hines. ID go 110 kit but. ID have RandR do it so labor added
Fuel Moto is the best bang for the buck. Because it is a complete kit seals and gaskets.
FuelMoto really puts together a nice kit, they are also dyno tuners over there too. So when they send you a map for a kit it's been thoroughly run and dialed in on they dyno.
@@GixxerFoo I will be using them for my big bore kit on my 2006 Road King 88 to 100.
100 inch with a good cam is gonna run hard!
You just sold me on the fuel moto 110 kit for next year.
It's a hard kit to beat and they have excellent service after the sale. I bought a Power Vision from them and they are awesome to work with, very sharp minds over there.
Think s&s is more $$ but its has cam chest oil pump. Plus really hard to beat s&s quality. Shit even fuel Moto uses s&s
Might as well do it right they first time. Just my 2 cents
I'm thinking about just get a lower compression pistons "8:1" for my 96 twin cam, port the heads get a good cam and turbocharge it. It will have more horsepower and get roughly the same gas mileage. Run it on E85 and up the boost to 15 psi you would out run the majority of the107-110ci big bore bikes no problem.
Yeah but how much that turbo going to run ya?
I’m thinking about doing a complete S&S 110 kit on my stage one 2014
103 street glide.
From a 103 to 110 SE tire shredder kit the stage 5 has my 15 RGS at 123tq and 123+ hp
That tire shredder kit is bad, guy at my dealer has one in his Road King and it's insane!
I'm looking into a similar upgrade.
It's one of the best upgrades out there, and it's very good horsepower per dollar.
I'd go all out with the S&S
S&S parts are stout and they have a great warranty!
Great vid man, do I need to upgrade the crankshaft as well with big bore and head ported?
You may want to put another support bracket under that shelf behind you!😊
We finally got that old shelf replaced!
@@GixxerFoo gr8! Have a good one friend!!
Love the comparison and explainations. However there are some very overlooked improvements needed to run this much HP. Nobody ever thinks about the compensator, primary chain, and the primary chain tensioner.
Go ahead and add all that power and still leave weak points untouched...
Problem is once you upgrade you are always chasing the next thing.
Don't get me wrong, I highly recommend these upgrades, but there are other things to consider as well.
Agreed. Also the clutch.
I already upgraded the CAM with the s&s 551 with gear driven cams conversion. But i think i would have gone with the s&s big bore with 585 CAM and gear drive if i could redo it.
Adding a big bore kit with your current cam will make for a big torque increase and some top end as well!
If I wanted to increase the inches on my 103 I would go Fuel Moto, let them know that I have a woods 555 cam and send my heads to them at the same time so they could make sure the headwork matches the pistons. Or even better I would get a hold of Hammer Performance and see what they could do. I know they do Performance headwork on the Twin cams and may have a big bore kit too.
Hammer will actually bore your existing cylinders and port your heads. Not sure at what price that would fall in compared with the FuelMoto basic kit. Since you have the Wood Cams already you're ahead of the game.
@@GixxerFoo
I have enough power right now with 555 cams, power vision, target time and Bassani pipes.
Honestly a set of cams, air cleaner, exhaust and tune is more than enough to have a good time!
have 108k on my 08 ultra classic. time for build lol. i love the way you lay out your info! want to slap that revolution 107 jugs and pistons on with that wood ah ??6-6.... want new heads and everything else but i just aint sure what the best matchup would be for those jugs and cam. i know you know what i should do regarding my heads. would you mind pointing me in a good direction ... i do enjoy riding my 1100 virago but i wanna get my boat back to climbing them mountains lol ... im sure you probably covered it already, but apparently i didnt click! Thank you for all the GREAT content!
Thank you, I appreciate it! A great build on a touring bike with a 107 kit you could get your compression up to 10:1 which isn't too bad at all and very reliable. A Wood TW-222 would be a great cam with some mild head porting from Hammer Performance or Fuel Moto. That would put you well over 100 horsepower and Torque with a good tune and full exhaust.
@@GixxerFoo Thank you! You Rock!
Before you go with gear driven, you better school up on why this isn't a good option on an HD unless you have a solid crank and upgraded bearings. You will wear out those gears pretty quick because of the crank run-out.
Could you do a video on Leineweber cams? I bought an L5 for my 67 shovel. Quite impressive.
That's not a bad idea, I can dive into some of the other lesser known cams out there. Not a lot of people know about them!
Can you please make a video on turning an 88 into a 110? Im looking at stroker, and boring out the engine for 103. So ill have a stroker and 103. If i put it to 103 then will have to do heads? If i try and take the 103 to 110 what all will be needed?
it's simple. A piston engine is basically an air pump. So if you get it to pump more air, it will produce more power.
You can only suck so much air with stock cams and head
@@victorestrada7115 True that!
I'm wondering if the 777 cam would work good with the s&s setup and some ported heads
My question is with doing any power kit upgrade, do they make more engine heat?
What's the difference in a 103 motor from the 2008 (police model) to the 2014 ?
Can the factory crank and bearings take this 50% punishment on the lower end?
What would the best cams I could go with on a 96 with a se 103 kit
Thanks for the amazing videos and content. I have a 2008 softail custom stock 96, what do you think if the s&s 106 big bore kit? I am not looking for crazy power and numbers, just a bit bump in the displacement and reliablility. I have the s&s 551 cams already. Appreciate your kind feedback! thanks
That's a very reliable kit for a 96 and it will perform really well with your cams. You'll notice a big difference in your bike! Thank you for the support!
Dude you read my mind. I have a 2015 Dyna with twin cam 103. I recently had an S&S cam and kit installed. Torque about 110 ft/lbs now. After seeing this super informative vid I think I wanna go with the Fuel Moro head kit. That would make my bike scream for sure. Any idea approx labor cost to have the Fuel Moto kit installed and ready to go out the door??
Fuel Moto does some damn good head porting, depending what your after l believe their Level B porting is about 900 bucks. Not cheap but worth it.
S & S for my Street Bob 96ci year 2014 - would you recommend
there is replacement for displacement. its called dual over head cams.
Thanks for all your great videos. I am in the process of building my 2008 street glide and I am on the fence on the Fuel moto 107 kit 555 cams with level B head work, or the 110 kit 777 cams with level B head work. Either kit will also include Dyno Jets PV3 and S&S cam plate and pump. I just am struggling on which kit.
I just completely replaced everything in my primary.
V-Twin Manufacturing Clutch Drum with Sprocket and Bearing , V-Twin Manufacturing OEM-Style Clutch Hub, Twin Power Compensator Sprocket Kit ,
S&S Cycle Inner Primary Mainshaft Bearing Race , Hayden Enterprises Inc Primary Chain Tensioner and primary chain. Now deciding on what to do with my 60,000 mile 96 motor.
Im putting in the S&S 110 kit with S&S 89cc ported heads and Fueling 574 cam and oil pump...question is. What size head gasket should I use for optimal performance?
Any place you would recommend to do performance upgrades ?
I just want to if I can put 96in jugs and pistons from a twin cam on my 1998 evo single cam motor??? Thanks DN
I have a 2011 Softail Deluxe with the 96" Twin cam. I am converting it to a trike with Frankenstein's kit, because of a bad knee and hip. I'm running 295 x 50 x 15 on the rear. I'm worried about being underpowered and am considering the S&S kit. I will be riding daily and also doing some touring while pulling a small lightweight teardrop camper. I'm new to the world of bikes and am wondering, is this a good kit for my needs?
Hi Gixxer,
We installed S&S 110 kit, TTS 150 cam & tuner, Fuel moto cam plate and oil pump, ported and polished heads but still it does not feel much different than 96CI softail. We are still breaking in the new kit. It hasn't been fine tuned yet.
Do you think it will change after fine tuned or I should change something else?
Please advice.
Thanks.
What’s the base 110 do without head work?
You might want gear-driven cams but if your twin cam is like most your crankshaft end play is more than the required 3 thousandths. Harley has capitulated on this and said that 12 thoussndths is ok... But in the end the entire cam plate would get trashed along with the gears.
My 96 came alive so much after just a camshaft oil pump and cam plate that I lost interest in a big bore kit.
That's a really good point, converting to a gear drive is likely only going to happen on a crank up rebuild. But some do get lucky and find their crank within spec, doesn't happen often though.
Yeah but can I get 100hp with stock heads or no? Serious question.
Shortly will order 107 extreme duty kit with 10.5:1 piston and level B head from Fuel moto. My condenser for this kit is avoid ticking noice and high torque. Which is best cam for this setup which give more torque and less ticking noice? I have 3 options which I believe will be fit: TW777 or TW 555 or S&S 585 or CR 570-2. Please advice
Hi, I have a 2016 twin cooled 103 which has the HP cams @ 10.0:1 compression. I want to do a 110 big bore kit. My riding is 80% commuting & 20% touring. In your opinion do you think I need to change the cams or do you think the stock HP cams are fine for my type of riding? Thanks for your advice.
Here’s a question for you
I am putting a 110 big bore kit in my 103. If I take the parts I remove from the 103 , piston, cylinder and cam and install it in my 96 , will that bring it up to a 103 or are there more I need to do ? I love your channel and your advice. Thank you for your help
It will actually fit right on the 96, not a bad bad idea since you have 96 sitting there. Thank you, we appreciate your support!
Can I run s&s 4” big bore kit with 551 cam for low RPM? Or you recommend 585 cam for big bore kit?
Thanks for this video. Very helpful. BTW what is your name? It cannot be Gixerfoo. If you don't mind sharing.
Have you done a vid on the woods 777 in a 96 twin cam?
I haven't covered the 777 in the 96 , that's a really good Dyna cam, comparable to 555 but with some extra punch.
with higher compression, is it cam lift we need to focus on due to higher volumes of intake and exhaust needed/expelled?
Yes, with higher compression you'll need a higher lift cam. The lower lift of stock cams won't handle high compression.
So where would you suggest to get my run out checked? I have an almost stock bike. I would want the S&S kit. Head work and gear timing would be great
A good independent shop would save you a lot over a dealer. Dealers charge two three times what a good indy will.
Would you have to go with a new cam plate if you go to after market cams?
You wouldn't have to but it's not a bad idea. I have a video dropping tomorrow all about camplates actually. Be out at 11 AM central time.
Are there bolt in cams for the 95 cubic inch?? I have a anniversary edition 05 fatboy with stage one upgrade including high flow air filter and two into one exhaust. It’s got decent low end torque that I don’t wish to sacrifice but is missing something twisting the throttle at 40-50 mph. After viewing your video a cam upgrade seems like the next logical step.
A nice bolt in a cam upgrade really wakes a motor up, especially with a 95 inch big bore. I like the Wood cams personally since they pull so hard across the RPM range. Some will say they are bit noisy, which they are but they have some serious over lap to hold the valves open longer to produce that power. Here's some direct bolt in cams that will work with your 95 czcams.com/video/tV5LcDXx3xA/video.html.
If you did the s+s kit. Which would be best for performance heads? Buy s+s heads or have yours ported? Seems 110 jugs and pistons should all be close performance wise. Just wondering were zippers are getting the bigger numbers.
You can always have your heads ported on your own, but when it comes to buying a kit I personally prefer to have the company match it to their kit. Zippers gets a lot of power from their cams, cams make a huge difference in the power delivery.
Changing the cylinders how bout the heads? For carb bike
You can run the stock heads, it really depends on the amount on the compression ratio you are looking at running on how far you want to go with the heads. A mild port job goes a long way on a set of heads.
I put a Wood TW-7H cams in my 103” Dyna the other day. It’s a big improvement. But I want something like the Fuel Moto in a 110” kit. I wanna keep chain driven cams. I don’t like gear drive. I’ve had them. I haven’t put it on a dyno yet. I think after I do the dyno I may be 100% pleased. If I get Fuel Moto, I don’t think I’ll want the head port kid. I don’t ride in upper RPMs much. I want to keep low and mid range torque. I wanna keep my cams. I’m thinking Fuel Moto, minus cams and a dyno tune. What do you think?
FuelMoto is an excellent kit, it's important to keep your compression in the ratio your cam is designed for so you're not having to buy a new cam. A Wood Cam and a big bore kit with lower compression will make some excellent power in the low and mid.
ive got a bone stock 103. but i have fixed all the inherent harley f$%k ups. so cam plat, oil pump, oil cooler, compensator, ect. when i want to go fast i just get on my r 1 and for the 10k your going to put in your Harley to make it fast....its not fast when your done!!! take that money and buy yourself a fast bike. youll like it a lot better. i know caz.....
That's a valid point, a Harley will never be a sport bike. Harleys do make some serious torque though down low, that can be a lot of fun getting 100 ft lbs of torque at 3k rpms.
@@GixxerFoo dont get me wrong ive had some monster harleys. i had a 70 that was 235 horse but thats back when that bike could kill anything on the road. harley hasn't kept up with technology and now..... i love my roadking i put 32k on it this year with my dog, which you cant do on almost anything eles but im not disillusioned about its race capabilities and would never pay the money to be louder and slightly faster.
As much as I love s&s that fuel Moto that brings the torque up to 140 will definitely be the way I go! That'll turn my little 2010 super glide into a hot rod!! Can anybody tell me if that's too much torque for a stock transmission and clutch?
The transmission will handle it, but you'll for sure need a clutch upgrade! One of the best ways to go about it is the variable pressure clutch add on fuel moto has. It goes right on top of the stock clutch and it will handle the torque with no problem.
s/s is s&s they rock
I have a 2009 FLHTCU that I did a 103 High Compression stage IV big bore on with a Thunderheader, Screamin eagle cam plate, and oil pump upgrade, and a Screamin Eagle Race Tuner... Dyno dialed in, Not bad performance... But, I'm thinking 110. What's your thoughts and if you were me, How would you go about it? What kit would you go with? TY
Dang the setup you have now is really hard to beat... man with the high compression that's the way to go. If you went with a 110 I'd go with the high compression option for sure, that compression is where it's at on the Twin Cam.
Great video, very informative. I have a few questions.
I upgraded my cams to the fueling reaper 543. Will they be sufficient for the 107 or 110 kit with head work.
Also I was wondering if I would need to upgrade my throttle body and injectors? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I am subscribing now. Thanks
YEs. Those will be sufficient. You may even want to go bigger on the cams since this kit is high compression. Whereas you dont NEED to upgrade the TB and injectors, it's never a bad idea not to. Make sure you have a good tuner or have someone who can tune it well after you're all done.
You would be better off going to a higher lift cam. I use the Feuling 574's. The S&S 585's are good, too

I have a 2010 FLHTK with 103. Its just a Bagger cruiser. Have K&N filter, Screamin' Eagle exhaust, Have you compared the wood TW-222 vs TW-7H?
I actually have, here is the cam video on the 103 czcams.com/video/ixeV1wRzsoY/video.html
Do I need any kind of bottom end work done? I'm installing the fuel motto 107 outlaw kit on my 2007 96 inch.
It's a good idea to have it done if you can. Timken conversion and have the crank worked over and trued up. Not totally necessary though, you will for sure want to check your run out on the pinion just to see what shape it's in. But if you're just cruising and making a a quick hit on the power you'll be alright. I wouldn't be going to the strip and hammering on it with the stock crank.
Do you have any specs for feul moto with thundermax
FuelMoto kit tined with a ThunderMax ecm wideband?
