    Best CZcams roll-on demo of two hard hitting V-twins I've ever seen. At 74 years old I've done this sort of thing since the late 1950's and I take my hat off to you guys. Road looked a little crowded to be turning up the wick on those things but hey, you got to remember I was doing this sort of thing back when there wasn't much traffic anywhere ! Wish I could have been able to read your tachs while you ran them thru the gears. Once again, great demonstration of two strong motors. Makes me wish I was young again!

    • @seanbutler2291
      @seanbutler2291 Před 6 lety +6

      The m8 doesnt really have much more power, harley says the 107 has 10% more torque than the 103, id hope so with a higher ci engine, the 114 has 8% more torque than the 110, they put out what an additional 5-8hp compared to the old engine, the 4 valves are really just smoothening the bike out, with a lil extra power added. Im not surprised the twin cam held its own at all, we also dont know how much the two riders weigh in comparison to each other, it makes a world of difference.

    • @therealDYL93
      @therealDYL93 Před 6 lety +1

      10% more torque? Are you Sure? If so then 10% more torque must be a big deal from 0-60. Because I raced my brothers 103 vs my 107 and I burned him hard. And he's been riding way longer than me.... so I think the 107 is alot more powerful than the 103. The torque is nice.

    Nice work as usual. Thank you for putting out videos with the things people really want and need to know about these bikes good or bad as you see it, and not just trying to sell paint, chrome and bullshit. As much as I'd like to have seen bikes on a dyno initially, but also understanding the cost and time it would take... the factory performance specs in your usual format with some seat of the pants dyno, same solid commentary and more aggressive riding noise make the video informative, helpful towards making a purchase, and even more enjoyable. Kill confirmed on the twin cam. Lol. That M8 sounds SO good through those mufflers. If Harley Davidson hadn't began to update anything in the last few years I'd STILL be openly trashing them for mushy suspension and coat hanger frames wrapped in plastic that stink of poor tuning and leak oil.

    I've been thinking of buying the tire shredder kit for my 12 street Glide that my wife and I take vacation on every year. So were always riding 2 up so more HP and torque would be nice but I'm not sure what can to go with. I already have a true dual head pipe CFR mufflers and performance air breather. I don't care about top speed and I want a cam that will start building power around 1,000 to 1,500 RPMs so the 259 cam is out and I'm thinking of SE 585 but not sure. Any suggestions? We do have a trunk on it also and are gonna get a trailer.

    Great! Salivating just by watching this One on One! Maybe a different cam on the M8 would help? Matt please tell me the secret to your video camera not having wind noise compared to the green bike. Please!

    Matt:
    Thank you for the great videos and insights not to mention responding to all the questions. You don't have to but you do. For those that disagree or have other opinions share them as they are valuable as well. Just do so with respect and some class it you want to be taken seriously. there is a bike, upgrade and good and bad experiences. If you can't go to the another site and waste your time there.

    Matt, with this kit Stage 4 does the Milwaukee 8 do better if you get stuck in traffic in terms of overheating compared to previous power upgrade kits for the twin cam?
    By overheating I mean the engine shutting off .
    This situation of not moving unfortunately occures more and more often even on highways. Unfortunately where I live we can' t split lanes and every other car is a cop car so it ain't an option..
    Thanks!

    Matt, my 16 SGS is currently at the dealer, having a Tire Shredder kit installed. I'm currently in Afghanistan, and set to come home in about 10 days. I cannot wait. Watching this video makes me even more excited to get my bike back. I'm throwing some color matched AdvanBlack extended bags and a Cobra 2-1 pipe on it too. Awesome vid, sir. Looked like an absolute blast. As Blockhead would say..."This one time in Mexico..." LOLOL Shiny side up!

    Real nice ride, love paint too! If mine wasn't 100 anniv I'd do paint job like this, but I want to keep this bike stock paint! I found an amazing horsepower in a bottle way back in 1989, I taught math, so I've been researching bike performance numbers, very interesting subject!

    Matt ...great job again...appreciate your passion and expertise.
    My question is that I am hearing that with the rollout with Milwaukee 8 engine on the New Softails Harley Davidson dealers are enforcing the warranty on third party exhaust systems. Meaning “Slip-Ons” are the only pipes allowed...anything else will void your warranty. I have always replaced stock HD exhaust head pipes with a complete exhaust system ....typically Rineheart or Vance & Hines with a tuner and Dyno.
    Could you talk about this in a future video ...... and what options we have...of slip-On’s ... impact to engine if I did replace header pipes...performance differences looking for options. What I do know is I don’t like the stock sound but I love the new 114 Heritage ride and performance. Obviously the stock exhaust does not sound as good...very tame...not sure if slip ons make any difference....Sorry to ramble on..,
    Thanks

    Does it matter if you keep the same stock tire versus a tire that handles high speed? Does the tires make a difference at high speed (i.e vibrations,death wobble.)

    • @MattLaidlaw

      These tires are just fine. The bike tracked great. Some times of freeway joints of bumps it can shimmy a little.

    I’m finding a lot of information that with the right cam, screaming eagle injectors, and a power vision tune I can turn some really decent numbers out of my stage 3 M8. Even more if I do heads port and polish but that’s another $1800.

    glad I found this video, my 18 limited is coming in soon and have been anxious as to how this m8 will compare with my 16 limited. Seems that the twin cams make more power at lower rpm than the m8. So the stage iv is out seems like it would be a waste of money. Matt what are your thoughts on the m8 with stage 2 and a good tune. The twin cam I have now has 98.75 hwpr and 121 tourque with 585 cams, fuelsac headpipe ,super tuner and screaming eagle springs and lifters. Can't seem to find any numbers like this on m8. Yes numbers are numbers, but what are your thoughts.

    • @MattLaidlaw
      @MattLaidlaw  Před 6 lety +1

      The stage 4 needs to be run at a higher RPM to get the max benefit out of the build and cam. Your build you mentioned is a nice low end torque build. This is more for the guy that like to run their Harley at a higher RPM. The 585 cam is a low end torque power delivery. So it just comes down to your riding style
