2024 CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE) Review and Test Ride
The 2024 CVO Street Glide is back again. Just last year we saw a MAJOR revamp of the CVO Street Glide that included a new body style that has trickled down into the non-CVO lineup this year. So we are talking about a bunch of changes that are still relatively new for the CVO's this year. Since the changes and with the introduction of CVO Road Glide ST, this positions the FLHXSE differently. You have two CVO Road Glide variations to consider and shop against the Street Glide this year. Although the FLHXSE has the VVT 121 Milwaukee-Eight there is a slightly different performing engine in the Road Glide ST. We got some new paint this year including the ultra premium Legendary Orange. Nick and I go over all the fine details.

Suspension in the Harley-Davidson world is always a hot topic and heavily debated one. Since the frame change on the Softail family motorcycles in 2018, many of the major suspension companies have developed a rear mono shock and a drop-in solution for the front forks. We were lucky enough to have an inside man (Stefan) to get us the first ever Wilber's suspension for the softail that we install...

I’m a professional detailer and it’s fine. The only time it really matters is with brand new paint just to be safe. I will be picking up some hog spit to add to my products, cool stuff.

I heard a rumor that because of the limited availability of good steel cylinder liners that factory bikes were going to a coated aluminum cylinder rather than steel liners. Custom builders have had a really hard time getting quality steel because of the limited material availability since covid.. ( I know this because the builder that is blueprinting my 128 engine has told me how hard it is to get cylinder material he can use without compromising the build) Has anyone heard anything about this or can anyone confirm this? Typically Harley has factored in their knowledge that most folks trade in their bikes after putting only 3500 miles on their bikes (Being that the majority put less than 1000 miles per year on their bikes) and that dealers have tons of slightly used bikes in inventory. Also because the bikes are tuned lean and run hot the wear and tear on bikes because of excess heat limit the life of the engines. Where the evo motor would typically last up to 100,000 miles without a rebuild, the M8's of today are having to be torn down because of the heat they generate at the 30,000 to 50,000 mile mark (which is why it's a good idea to get extended warranty coverage for a used bike). All of this is mostly due to the lean tune required by the EPA and the catalytic converters in the exhaust which drive the heat of the cylinder heads up so high they had to go to liquid cooled heads to compensate for the heat and the wear and tear due to excessive heat cycles when the motor is in traffic. Any feed back other than yer an asshole for talking shit about harley would be appreciated.

HD has found and exploited the most effective way of making a profit, that being to have up to 40% of the parts made overseas. I recognize that dealerships must recover the costs of merchandising, and that includes having a stock of motorcycles on display. However, in recent years many dealerships have built out facilities which are too large, have massive apparel displays, and some even have restaurants, coffee shops, and areas for live bands to perform. All of this overhead has to be passed on to customers. In my area, all of the local HD outlets are under the same ownership and operated as a single business, thus the costs of the overhead of the largest and fanciest facility are passed on across all locations.

A ballast/weight was used to correct the death wobbles which in turn eliminated the advertised lower bike weight. There's also another RECALL pertaining to the infotainment system/shuts off on average every 15 mns.; an along with that you have difficulty changing ride modes.Let's not forget some of us R having periodically starter issues.
