i dont want gameplay over most videos, those reels n stuff where its just someone telling a story and it has gta or fall guys gameplay in the background is such a show of this generations attention spans that you need something else happening to not lose interest

Babylon's Fall also deserves the Nr.1 Spot for TERRIBLE Game Ethics. Wonder why the game was so bad? Because executives essentialy forced the developers to change the ENTIRE concept of the game, that has been worked on for years, in a desperate abusive crunch to cash in on LiVe sErViCe gAmEs. There were actually talented people who worked on this game for it to be good, only to have their work scrapped and get pressured into dumping out a different shitty game last minute. Basically the developers just wanted this thing done and finally move on.

Platinum wanted to make a live service game. They still want to make them.
Stop pretending Platinum can do no wrong. It's really aggravating. I know they made a ton of bangers, but I would say their better days are behind them.
Sounds like SqueEnix, all right. They've been trying to put everything into LiVe sErViCe gAmEs, whether it be major platforms and consoles or mobile games. Yet in the past few years, they've shut down several live-service games, with some shutting down within the year like Babylon's Fall. They alone should've been a BIG warning sign for SqueEnix that LSG's are falling out of favor. Then again, they've gained a reputation of as Japan's EA for a reason.

the fact that babylon's fall is a 2022 game. that shit must have come out like january first cause i completely forgot about it. i saw a few clips where when actually learned, the combat or at least the combos in the game could match at least nier automata levels, but the game was never good enough to care that much

As far as I know they worked on a different game under the name Babylon's Fall for YEARS and actually wanted it to be good. But then shitty executives came along, basically forced them to scrap years of work and create an entirely different concept, essentialy having to start over under extreme time pressure. So they had no choice other than dump this thing out and be done with it. Abuse and crunch culture of the gaming industry.

I know others already commented on it being announced years ago, but another big reason is because it actually caused controversy all those years ago, too. Like, long before the horrible monetization.
It was unveiled live at Blizzcon and got trashed pretty badly by the audience there.

@@bigballz2521 scarlet and violet were only bad because of performance issues which have been mostly patched. Models still go into a really ugly frame rate when you're not right next to them but it isn't unplayable anymore

Babylon’s Fall is a lesson in why you contractually make sure publishers can’t mess with your game’s development
I'm not even sure you could do that. Like, what publisher would tale that deal? I know timybuild did at one point but they're an indie publisher
No publisher would sign that contract, and your game wouldn't be made.

All I know about Gungrave is it was a surprising revival of a series that started on the PS2. I played it briefly on Xbox Series X since it’s part of GamePass and as someone nostalgic for early 00s games I found its design somewhat charming as it certainly feels like something I would have rented back in 2003.
Gun Grave is a cult classic. If you didn't already love it, you weren't going to love the new game

I played the original way back when, it wasn’t that different, worth a buy? Nope but is a great weekend rental from blockbuster to breeze through. New one isn’t worth a buy either but it being on game pass is perfect.

It’s sad that The Devil in Me released so poorly, as I played it a couple days ago and had no issues with bugs at all - it’s such a good story and I really enjoyed how quick it got into the scares this time. Just a shame :(

Babylon's Fall broke my heart. It looked like such an interesting game and I was really looking forward to it. At least I didn't even buy it but I'm still disappointed.
The Live Service made the game Dead on Arrival, because I played the beta/demo, and honestly, if it was a single player game, the game would be bad, mediocre at best, but at least it could be a cult classic down the road. Now, it's just an embarassment.

I played Babylons fall. I enjoyed it somewhat but the lack of people made it miserable and certain combat features only showed up after finishing the main story

Played the first level of Gungrave GORE at PAX West. When I was done with the level I told the developer that it's an interesting DMC style game, cant wait to see the beta/final game and he told me that that WAS the final game. Walked away in total confusion

I don't know about the new game or even the old one, but I SEVERELY recommend you and anyone else reading this check out the Gungrave anime. It's the only video game adaption I've seen done well in anime and doesn't feel at all like one - it's fucking great. Also the opening goes hard

I watched the Penguinz0 video and it was mainly due to glitches in co-op mode (it was so glitchy they couldn't even finish the game). I liked the game aswell.

Very very sad he didn't roll with Gungrave. It works like an arcade shooter, just with dodging and third person movement. The devs have been updating the game a ton to make it better, I literally thought that thing went from a 3 to a 7 after the updates they've done. It's so jank, but if you've played the PS2 gungrave games, it's so clear how much love and soul was pumped into that thing.
Interesting, what changes exactly were made to give it such a jump in quality? I played it at PAX last year.

More effective AOE attacks
Faster fire rate
That's not even 1/4th of the changes, and they've promised to keep bringing more updates to the game.

Personally I'd add Overwatch 2. It can be fun, but hell is it so incredibly boring, toxic, greedy game. Sure, it's not actually pay2win, but the fact that they made a system worse than the loot boxes is such an eyesore.
This new format of having the video play next to you like commentary on ESPN is pretty nice
