This episode had me the most. For me was emotional in hard to describe way. It's like the innocence of experiencing that level of bliss that will forever have them questioning "what is it - that thing out there?", while not knowing that thing is a cold horrible reality where they are forever downpressed - but knowing it's a step closer to the truth and freedom. Crazy how the most dream-like experiences are sometimes the most vivid, conscious and real.
*Beyond* is certainly one of my favorites. It just hits different. Playing off of the Oracle's explanation of glitches in the Matrix, without using vampires, werewolves, or aliens, was brilliant.
@@Neomatrixology Just on that a thing I didn't fully get, was why programs hack programs? E.g. the Frenchman - is it because he's a learning program designed to understand human traits of power, greed and rebellion? Or is he a weird glitched program with bad coding? When the Oracle said "they have their reasons", I didn't get what those reasons were?
@@Madness1299 this is a great question that has a lot of layers to it, and I will absolutely address it in detail with a future video. This subject was already in my notebook.
This is my FAVORIITE episode.
FRANZ! I like them all so much but this one was a nice change of pace.
Its bittersweet. Sad because we know she was special and able to bend the Matrix if she were mentored, and we wanted her to escape, but happy to realize that if she had stepped into that void she would have woken up in a pod then been flushed and drowned.

@foodank_atr817 It kind of makes you wonder that perhaps it was for the better that the Agent and his team of Exterminators kicked Yoko and the kids out of the Haunted House.
IMO I think it would be cool if they expanded upon Yoko a bit further in a spinoff. It could be a new animated short where Yoko keeps returning to the site where the haunted house was after a series of reoccurring dreams give her hints that she could still bend the rules of her reality while going about her daily life until she inadvertently gets the attention of the Agents and an ensuing chase begins while she's at school.

@@Neomatrixology OK I've seen your film Beyond The Glitch. Honestly, it kinda looks a bit like how I imagined "Beyond" from Animatrix would continue. The dreams, the signs, and the new Agent. It's a bit confusing at first, but after a few more times watching it, I might catch on.

I liked this episode, it's the bizarre nature of the matrix. It also shows no matter how much the architect perfected the matrix still has flaws or glitches, particularly in this episode. And it's something that shouldn't happen, but as if impossible.
Thank you for watching and commenting! One thing I like about this episode, is that they don't specify exactly what did cause the glitch. The artistic detail of the glitches become it's own character in the episode.
great content, this is my favorite animatrix episode for sure. I was aware of that song but not of the reference. It was still used in the early 2000s in Kyôto

but back on topic, while the matrix trilogy movies are certainly fine and deep in their own rights, I've always felt that the animatrix did take the concept quite a step deeper.

Just imagine how many other glitches could happen in the simulation. It will be interesting to see some in Matrix 4. Maybe because of a glitch Neo would become aware that something is wrong with the reality.
STARGAZER! I just hope the Matrix 4 does well because I believe it will open up an expanded universe of content. "Glitch in the Matrix" stories have become popular and if there isn't a reference in Matrix 4, there would very likely be expansions on the idea in other forms of Matrix media.

I can still remember cutting my finger on the tin can at the end. When you leave your body, Even precognitive dreams are exceptionally real. You do know what the cut finger represents? no? Her entry into the metaphysical realm. Energetic healing is a gateway to abilities some consider to be un-natural.
My theory on ‘the void’ is that it represents another glitch in the way the headjack data probe (for want of a better term) interacts with the plugged in human’s memories and experiences, I think the system glitch is playing her experiences back to her. Her earlier experiences had become locked in the part of our brains the headjack probe can reach in clarity but we ordinarily cannot, hence her being stunned. In this sense I don’t think it’s to do with time travel, why would such code even have been written?! The glitches all bend what’s remotely possible and what should have been. It’s always been the part of the episode that fascinated me the most as it’s such a meta-glitch idea and helps you understand all other kinds of possibilities. I must admit I’ve never considered the idea of what would of happened had she stepped into the void, not sure how to reconcile that possibility with my theory here. Perhaps she would have woken up?! The World Record episode offers some theories as to how this is possible under one’s own unconscious volition, not sure if this event would fit that theory. It’s telling I think that it’s at this precise moment she’s on the edge of the void she gets stopped in her tracks and we don’t find out..
Hmm, I always thought the girl was Trinity. The watch in her room reads 2:05, (5-2=3), she drops precisely 3 blood droplets after she cuts herself with the can, her cat too must be a nod, and I guess I always thought this whole story was how she became more questioning about her reality and decided to became a hacker. I thought she chose the hacker name Trinity in rememberence of this precise episode and the three drops of blood she bled.
Also the way she jumps with hands extended and one foot higher than the other is like of of Trinity's jump attacks and also she has bluish green eyes just like Trinity. She also looks a bit as if she's mixed ethnicity just like Trinity.

Ain't that the same creator of "Dimension Bomb" from "Genius Party Beyond"? I liked this film, it's either a haunted house, or a house of glitches.
