Poland and the Bautite countries were weak, and yet they never surrendered. They have suffered a lot and everyone in these countries will say the same. Never again! Poland warned about Hitler and Russia, but no one listened to us. Poland repelled the Soviet army (barely), and everyone thought there would be peace. However, this did not happen. Fate was not gentle for Poles, but in this way it hardened the spirit of people whom you will probably never meet in the world. Poles already proved this in 2022, when Russia attacked Ukraine. When people opened their homes to refugees. As far as I know, there has never been a case in history where such a large number of people were accepted so quickly by a country without a single refugee camp. And it's not a question of governance. The Polish government only tapped into the initiative of ordinary people. People didn't need to be told, they knew what to do because everyone knew they wouldn't want to be in their position. How Poles were once treated by other nations in similar situations. Poles opened their hearts, homes and wallets. And now they are preparing for something that may never come. Although I am not a supporter of President Duda, but I agree with one thing. Poland will not sell leather cheaply, and we have enough land that anyone who enters its territory will be asked to fertilize its soil with their body.

I wish politicians in Australia would look to Poland for guidance. Our "similar" concern isn't on our doorstep but it is close enough to cripple our economy. And like Poland and its Baltic neighbours we have a duty to the Pacific states around us. Our recent expansion announcement is good but too slow and our politicians have a history of bad decisions. The defence force should be allowed to have a greater say in its equipment.
Good Luck Poland. If you chose the right gear then there's a greater chance you will never need to use it.

Today's Russians like to forget the dirty deeds the Russians did in Poland...but i bet the Poles have not forgotten the Katyn massacre where the Russians tried to blame this bestiality on the Germans. And if you look at the atrocities of today's Russia in Ukraine, you realise that not much has changed in Russia. Human lives continue to play a very subordinate role for the Russian regime but with the difference that today Poland is a member of a very powerful defence alliance.

For ships... Miecznik is armed toally differently from Uk's ships, except CAMM missiles for air defense - that they share.
But armament is to be 2x 35 mm (bow/stern) for close defense, Oto melara 76mm super rapid as main cannon, and RBs-15's in containers for anti-ship duties + mentioned already CAMM missiles in VLS cells. So well rounded, rather small frigates - overall nothing very special but should be able what's expected from modern ship of this class.
As for threatening Kaliningrad from air... Poland does have JASSM already and F-16's to fire them from. Effects on target are quite similar to Taurus/Storm shadow.
As for air defense... Polish Patriot batteries are a bit quirky - they are not equivalent of US Patriot battery. They are set up to operate in 2 half batters basically (fire unit) - so in groups of 4 launchers with 1 radar. Polish battery has two radars and 8 launchers, US battery has six launchers and one radar. Functionally Polish battery covers area of 2 US batteries, at cost of having less launchers/missiles in each - somewhat compensated by the fact that Polish Patriot system only have PAC-3 MSE's which are smaller missiles than PAC-2, so more can be fitted on each launcher. Anyway when it says Poland has 2 batteries think of it as 4 slightly weaker batteries. When talk is about further 8 - it really means further 16 weaker batteries, so functionally around 20 total for both orders taken together. It means 4x20, 80 launchers and 20 radars. Narew, which is to use CAMM missiles is meant to have more than 30 batteries. All in all, numbers are to be quite reasonable provided no problems will appear.

In addition, Poland must buy tanker planes for air refueling and is waiting for Swedish planes Saab AWACS . Nobody wants war and nobody is ready for it. A wise nation is preparing for it, seeing the changes taking place in the world.
To list how much equipment Poland buys, produces and orders - this material would have to take several hours. The entire country is reforming and it is a difficult and expensive process, but freedom is the most precious value for Poles and we are doing everything in our power to never lose it again. I cordially greet our neighbors who support Ukraine's war effort - Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Romania and the new valuable NATO members - Finland and Sweden. Special respect for the decisive state of Denmark - your attitude towards Russia should be a model for all Western European countries. I have deep contempt for the current government of Germany, Hungary and Slovakia (governments, not nations).

I am proud of Poland. I am not Polish but I had a Polish roommate that made me think about them in a positive manner. The Polish have a proud history, they are responsible for their defense (not even true of the dependent state of the UK), they are Catholic and the nation is manly. Unlike almost the entire rest of the West. I don't think they have ever received help from the USA in any way (again unlike the UK who were wholly dependent on the US to get to the Falklands Islands in that war). They have been responsible financially, unlike the US. They stand up to stupid neighbors like the EU. I am proud of Poland.

The Type 31 frigates ordered from Babcock UK are having their hulls constructed in Gdańsk, Poland, for the Royal Navy as well as the Polish Navy. This is to keep costs down. Babcock got the contract because BAe systems, the usual contractor, couldn't deliver a ship for £ 250,000,000 which is the maximum the UK government is prepared to pay. Babcock underestimated the cost of delivery for building the boats in the UK. They could only keep within budget limits by moving hull construction to Poland. Boats for the Polish Navy are being built simultaneously.

Interesting video. Poland boosting military spending and intensively arm military forces.
Nevertheless few things are worthy to notice there.
    1. Poland have not got any M270 MLRS. There are only MLRS on wheeled chassis, as like M142 Himars, Korean K239 on Polish Jelcz chassis with Polish fire control and communication systems and old MLRS WR40 Langusta, R70, and BM21 variants.
    2. Poland have got various MBT now. There are 232 Leopard 2 variants, 69 Abrams M1A1FEP, 48 K2, old 170 PT91 and some old T72M. And over 300 old T72 and PT91 were donated to Ukraine.
    3. Poland also donated to Ukraine many SPAG and armored vehicles. Nevertheless Poland purchase and order more vehicles now e.g. next SPAG Krab, K9, SPM Rak, APC Rosomak with modern turret ZSSW30, MRAP Cougar, MATV. Polish Army are testing IFV Borsuk now.
    4. Polish Army has got only 16 Mi24 attack helicopters, because 12 Mi24 were donated to Ukraine last year. Poland plan to buy some AH64 Apache helicopters in near future. Poland already ordered AW101ASW/CSAR and AW149 multi role helicopters.
    5. Polish Miecznik frigate will be armed with different gun systems than Royal Navy type 31 frigate. There will be one 76 mm Otto Melara gun and two 35 mm Polish OSU guns.
