all i know is my Grandma and Great Grandma lived into late their late 90’s. this was there menu…. boiled water kept in a glass pitcher in fridge, broiled chicken and beef patties. with salt n pepper, (they didn’t use buns) steamed broccoli, carrots, potatoes, basic shredded lettuce salad with carrots and tomatoes the salad using mayo and ketchup for dressing, skim milk, breakfast was shredded wheat the big squares with cut up banana, or fried egg on top of buttered toast, cut up cantaloupe, grapefruit and oranges and every night a shot of wine or sherry before bed, and always said their prayers upon waking and then again before they went to bed. God had everything to do with their decision’s including food and habits. my husbands folks are now in their 90’s and follow a similar but different menu.

Yes, but avoiding foods with lots of pesticides, hormones, etc… is key. Coffee, corn and soy are just a few of the worst crops in the US. Organic is best.
The body is designed to burn fat.... meat, butter, avocados, nuts.

Caffeine is not good for us, it depletes electrolytes, vitamins and minerals and simply blocks the neurotransmitters of fatigue so it’s a false feeling of energy and increases adrenaline etc. Hence why it can deplete our nutrients instead of giving true energy with nutrients. My mother had been on a diet of “ mushed food” for choking risk. Horrible to look at. Switched to home made blueberry yogurt- gained weight, increased cognitive abilities in dementia and recovered from her “ death bed”.

Great to hear!!!
I wish I could have done this for my mother. Do you know anything about SIBO? I think she had this and her friend who died a couple of years before her. Mom died of failure to thrive, could only eat a little bit, nausea, no appetite, diarrhea . She was 89 pounds or less. She survived Covid only to get RSV a few weeks later. If I had lived near her and made yogurt for her, which she loved, she might still be with us. Thanks, I will spread the word about home-made yogurt! Q: Do you advise a plant-based diet? I'm just blown away with Dr. Li's approach to sharing statistical data. He keeps the focus on good health and very simple things we can do to change things TODAY to make a difference. This man is on a mission to help people be healthier.

The health message of the SDA is indeed God’s health plan for the end times. Secular Science is finally catching up, somewhat.
I learned SO much about eating for health in this hour-long podcast. Eat one pear daily to get 6 grams of dietary fiber every day. True health isn't visible in the mirror or in the number on the scale. I appreciate the science he shared very much and also appreciate Dr. Li's ability to advocate moderation amid all the extreme diets touted now. Doug, you asked some great questions as well. I'm a 71-year young female, and I'm always interested in how to be more healthy and live longer. You have a new follower!
You're eating sugar every time you eat a pear. If you want to stay healthy fruits should be LOW on your list. Berries are the best, but all fruit should be eaten IN season and it will cause weight gain! Fruit signals the body to put on fat for the winter.
@@TheresaGraf Although fruits are high in fructose, but it digests faster and follows a different pathway and does not make you gain weight. It can however give you a fatty liver long term
@@geraldineoha9433 Scientists at the University of California studied the effect of fructose and found that it caused more belly fat and raised cholesterol. All sugar, including the fructose in fresh fruit, raises your body blood sugar, PERIOD. If you have cancer you should AVOID fruit.

Don’t you still get teeth cleanings though and check ups to make sure your gums are healthy (since you can’t tell on your own)? And because plaque does eventually turn into tartar?
I was one who could go years in between cleanings. I got a SoniCare, flossed daily and thought I could go even longer… turns out I went just in time, because unbeknownst to me, I was developing gum pockets!
I started using grapefruit seed extract with a Pik Pocket (tip) WaterPik for 5 minutes daily, and they started reversing.
Anyway, testing and checkups can be good, but yeah, for _treatments,_ do your own research for sure!! My hygienist sure isn’t where I learned about using GSE with a WaterPik!!

100%. I have said for years that our bodies are built perfect. It is ourselves who mess it up. Of all the planets out there, we are on Earth for a reason, and that reason is everything we need is already here.
This good experience to keep our bodies healthy
Very educational tips to keep healthy
But doctor I am from urban area where many persons live real old beyond 100 and these are not rich people. However we grew a lot of green foods and they drink the rain water and they go up and down the hills
The oldest person there now is 99 years , he still walks more than half mile to church and he still reasons well. I agree that foods play a part but God is the one who determines and genes and care.
Blessings!
Wow, where this place? Would love this kind of Godly, living environment !!
To Dr. Li's intro summary I would add 'attending to portion size' to carbo foods. We grow up eating double to quintuple portions of carbo - and one serving a meal is all we need in most cases. One slice of bread, 1/4 cup of pasta or rice is a serving.
Double or triple the veg - and lower the carbo portion unless your life is very physically active.
I've shared Dr. William Li's CZcams lectures with all my friends who have sadly developed cancer (many in their mid-70s). I have learned so much from him! Dr. Li is such a blessing!! Thank you!!

I suffer from a great deal of inflammation and immune system issues. When I do a 16/8 intermittent fasting schedule, I feel so much better. I eat mostly plant based foods, and work hard to avoid simple carbs. I would like to work up to occasionally doing a 48 hour fast. It is a tool for cleansing me of the stuff that inflames me. It's all about how I feel, not about my weight.
I did 18 hr fasting everyday..Hellps loose weight but mainly for my health overall.

You can't go wrong with an alkaline diet and omega 3 oil. Ginger and tumeric help a great deal

i saw Dr. Li with Dr.Mark Hyman a couple of weeks ago and bought his new book. I love his delivery in both writing and on this podcast. He is so definite about his beliefs and what food does in the body, but he leans heavily on people making their own judicious choices, given the scientific facts to elicit a healthy outcome. I live in Berlin where great organic food is on the corner, and there's nothing in his books that is inaccessible here. I'm 78. and was diagnosed with diabetes six years ago. I'm fortunate enough to have a doctor who believes that I am in tune with my own body, and knows I want to reduce the amount of metformin I take. My Alc is now 5.7, a drop from 6.1 in the last six months, but I've also lost 14 pounds in that time. I appreciate Dr. Li's trust in patients to lose weight, have a healthy metabolism and blood sugar and gut without drugs. He makes it feel so possible with a the most excellent reason to do so--overall good health through healthy food.
Try incorporating intermittent fasting and you'll be even better!

Carnivore gave her problems or took her problems away?
Carnivore can act like a bandaid for certain gut issues, such as SIBO, because a carnivore diet doesn’t feed bad bacteria. For many, fixing the gut issue is the key fix. She can then eat normally again.
Dr Li is a terrific teacher, a great communicator! Thank you for this.

Thank you for this fantastic program and asking all the right questions to get us started back onto the road to better and best health. A PEAR! And, yes, I've been talked out of eating more fruit -- which is pathetic -- but I love pears and tomatoes and am now inspired to eat better! God bless you BOTH. Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!
Don’t go hog wild on fruit though. You need to pay attention to smaller or moderate amounts relevant to your particular metabolism and needs. I am a diabetic on keto with IF and it serves me very well. But I feel best when I eat A LITTLE fruit. I eat 1/4 of large grapefruit with stevia on it every day after the 2nd meal of my 2 meals a day. If I ate it at breakfast it would tend to make my blood sugar go up too much and affect my blood sugars all day to be somewhat higher than otherwise. So I never eat fruit at breakfast. I eat it as my dessert after my only other meal of the day ( only 2 meals a day, rarely ever a snack). When I eat it after the meal which is protein & low carb vegetables then the sugar rise from it small. When I eat berries in my goat yogurt I can only tolerate 4 cherries at a time, 5-6 blueberries at a time and two strawberries. In fall I gather free unsprayed crabapples mid July thru early August before they seeeten and the same with wild pears. I gather red September apples unsprayed from the public venue and I eat the high polyphenol skins with a potato peeler and and eat those in my salad and give my friend the peeled apples to make apple sauce with ‘but the apple itself has too much sugar for me. Check your glucose levels when you eat fruit though to know what’s happening to your blood sugar. I figure I can tolerate 1/2 of a kiwi a day. I’m 70.
Im 46 and man i never knew some of the things i know today. I grew up eating vegetables and fruits but eating out became a way of life for me as a teen, my 20s and 30s. I ate pretty healthy in my mid 20s and 30s but fried chicken from Popeyes, pizza and everything didn't help. One thing i can say that helped me a bit was always working out. I started working out at 14 and present. I got real serious with my health at about 38-40. I watched videos on CZcams and learned things i never knew. I add a. Salad to my meals everyday now. I eat twice a day. Nobody is perfect but everything i buy is natural. No canned foods. I cook everything from stratch. I eat fish twice a week. Salmon. I tried vegan and i felt great but im anemic and i think i have to eat a little meat. Im just trying to eat mostly plant based foods. I love avocado, spinach, kale, quinoa, black beans, sweet potatoes, walnuts, raisins, almond butter( fresh almond butter from a machine that grinds them up in front of you. Not the almond butter with that palm oil in it. Pears, apples, kiwi, strawberries, dates, mango, watermelon. So many good natural foods you can enjoy without the added stuff you get in the freezer, or a restaurant. Thanks for the video doc. These videos are always much needed. Especially in this day and age. 🙏
Dr. Li is so informed and presents his message in a simple, clear manner. Thank you Dr. Li and Doug Bopst!
Thank you for this information. I think that if we are honest with ourselves, the majority of us are unhealthy due to our diet and it's important to focus on variety, natural foods and of course the quantity we eat. As he says, a treat now and then is fine 😊
Thank ❤
Food is medicine. But the majority are dying because of the lack of knowledge.
I eat 4 times a week. On monday I eat a 16oz ribeye with all the fat, just the steak. Wednesday I eat 8 ounces of beef liver and two cans of sardines. For a snack I will eat a cup of berries or a hand-full of raw pecans. Friday I eat another 16oz ribeye. On Saturday I eat 2 eggs scrambled w/cheese, 2 eggs over medium, 6 strips of bacon and a sausage patty. Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday if I get hungry I drink a cup of coffee with 2 spoons of butter and 2 spoons of mct oil and about six ounces of heavy cream. I think we calculated the coffee to be close to 1000 calories. I'm not on a calorie cutting diet, I'm on a carb cutting diet. I've never felt better and all my blood work is perfect.
😅

Chronic stress is the key factor for developing all kinds of mental n physical problems
Ok, you asked for my opinion so I'll give it to you.
In America we need to rename "Health" insurance to specifically "Medical " insurance. Hospitals and most doctors do not provide healthcare, but provide medical care.
Healthcare is what you do at the grocery store, on the heart trail and sleeping upon nightfall.
A lot of people have the misconception that the health insurance card they carry in their wallet is just that, insurance for them to keep living unhealthy.
They only find out to late the hospital when they come to see me. 😢.
Medical care and Health care are two different things.
So true
Thank you good advice

I did plant based and felt horrible physically. Joint pain - stomach pain and bloating. I’ve been a carnivore for 2 months now and haven’t felt this good in years. I can exercise more. Without pain! I have abs. Mental acuity.
Also- my gut biome has changed. No more bloating. And I can eat/drink dairy where I used to be fairly intolerant
Dairy causes inflammation which turns into immune dysfunction and cancer eventually
@@happinessispresentwrong , farmers lived much longer than we do now. Most of them drank milk everyday. My uncle was 95 when he died
@@kimjones2056 he was an exception to the rule, generally dairy products contain casin that causes inflammation and cancer if you drink milk every day like your uncle
Overtime, it won’t. Just being plant based isn’t helpful. What you eat is what matters. You have to have balanced when plant based. It requires research & strategy. Dairy is harmful! It might have been alright in the past. And there are exceptions to the rule but they are doing too much to it in processing & to the animals to be good for us to drink every day. There are so many plant based foods that can give your body what milk does & more. Increase your research.
The doctor is right, yall better listen. Too much protein destroys organs. I’m on dialysis as result. No one ever said that even when I was spilling protein through my urine before dialysis. And they still advise me to eat even more protein, crazy! I changed to a plant based & I am seeing significant changes!

Honestly, there is so much different opinions and advice out there. I simply cannot wrap my brain around the carnivore diet, yet there are many individuals, even doctors on CZcams promoting it. I’m no scientist, but in the tiny amount of research I’ve done, the best diet is the Mediterranean! I love listening to Dr. Li, he seems to explain scientific ideas in a way that's easy for us to understand, plus giving examples. Giving the examples or evidence based results, helps me in understanding and remembering the key ideas. Plus he speaks clearly and at a good temp to take in what he's saying.
