- My VLOG series from Tibet continues and this time I'm in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet. I hit the streets of the city centre en route to the breathtaking Potala Palace. The centre of Tibet is rather built-up but it's very compact, meaning you can walk around it rather easily. My goal on my first day was to recreate the scene commonly found on the back of a 50 yuan note, and just soak in the amazing backdrop that the Potala Palace provides. (This was filmed in September, 2021)

As glorious as the Forbidden City in Beijing is, this palace is just as magnificent! What an architectural feat in such a picturesque location that even a cat approves by rubbing against it!
If half of the world's gold is at the Potala Palace, then clearly the other half is at El Dorado 😉
Potala is on the hill and has the advantage of the landscape. Limited by the technology then, it actually has many fatal architectural flaws and is extremely costly to fix.
Looks amazing, can't wait to see more and learn more about this place.

Yunan, Tibet, Xinjiang have many stunning landscapes, places. Also Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Hunan, etc. just so many beautiful landscapes I doubt I will able to visit all.

The colors of the video is sooo beautiful. This makes me miss China so much. But its not yet open to foreign tourist? Tibet required permits, so I didnt get to visit. Such a beautiful video. Less moments with the mask, because it makes the video look less classy.
You can visit Tibet if you're already in China, but you still need the special paper that allows you to enter. But that's taken care of by the tour group you'll travel with.

You need to go with a travel group. And the group will sort the permit out for you.
How's the covid situation there Stu? Really wanna visit Tibet while I'm still in China... but applying to enter Tibet seems to be a challenge on its own.
When I was in Tibet, it was fine. Strict tests upon departure and arrival etc...

Is every part of it opened to the public? There must be some parts closed right? Especially the rooftop
There is a section at the top which is closed off. It's a room with a lot of gold I believe.

In Lhasa I was fine. I needed oxygen when I got to Shigatse.
