- Join me as my Tibet VLOG series from late 2021 continues, this time through the streets of Lhasa.
Not far from the Potala Palace is the Barkhor Ancient Town, the heart of Lhasa. It's an interesting place where you can find restaurants, bars, markets, alongside temples and holy sites. I paid a visit to the beautiful Jokhang Temple, which is surrounded by Barkhor Street. Locals will walk the length of Barkhor Street sometimes up to ten times a day to show their strength of belief. Once was enough for me, because I still hadn't quite adjusted to the altitude. However, sampling some of the Tibetan local snacks definitely helped me on my way around.

Stu's videos are valuable because he is just showing what life in China is like. If people can draw political.lessons from them, so much the better.

I visited there three years ago, the symptoms of Altitude Sickness really made me suffer and I didn't enjoy my trip fully. I'll definitely go there again.

4:28 all of those Tibetan jackets and robes look awesome~ I know in Australia you can get cowboy hats made out of kangaroo leather. I wonder if the Tibetan version of cowboy hats and boots are made of the leather from something cool like a yak or the Himalayan tahr~

What's the etiquette for filming in general Stu? Do you usually ask before you film everything? like when on trains or when you eat at restaurants? Or is it freer / more flexible that that where you can just start filming? Can't wait for more videos!
If I speak to others I would ask if they mind. But if someone comes up to me whilst I'm filming, I assume they don't mind. On a train, for instance, I'll ask if I can chat and film. Some people don't want to and that's absolutely fine.

The food is so pure and simple. Hope the Tibetans never change their diet to Western burgers, domino's pizzas, Pizza Hut and all that rubbish.
Lhasa has a pizza hut (you can see it in this video) and a McDonald's, and all of the fast food restaurants that other cities have. But don't worry, there are many more Tibetan restaurants. It's all about choice though.
