  • Peter made the trip from Chicago out to Paragon Performance to get his Honda K24 swapped BRZ tuned with Graham from Boosted Performance Tuning. He's running the K Power Industries swap kit so everything was pretty much plug and play as far as the install. We also threw some E85 into the engine to ensure we get the most performance out of the engine! This thing is going to be a beast out on the track! Going to try to run him down in ClubTR!

    i'm sure some of the powers missing due to transmission loss, RWD tend to suck up more power than FWD, if im not mistaken is 5% - 10% more than FWD, some bolt ons and you will be in the 250 wheel territory though. but still, N/A build and specially turbo is where this car out performs most 4 bangers.

    • @andyblanks8337
      @andyblanks8337 Před rokem +1

      Very true but think about the reliability though. The motor can take so much more bolt on performance than the FA20. I have a BRZ and lemme tell you, the FA20 really sucks when it's got a little power added to it. I've heard of FA20's with stock internals blowing up with 7-10psi of boost after as little as a month or two. The K24 can definitely handle that kind of boost and not sacrifice nearly as much of the reliability. Plus the extra engine bay space and ~120lbs of weight removed from the front end. And of course you get to say "Yeah I got a K swapped BRZ at home" lmao
      Edit: After checking the KPower FAQ section trying to find if I was correct about the weight savings it turns out my number of 120 wasn't light enough. True weight saving with a K swapped 86 is around 140lbs.

    isn't that a bit low hp for a K24?

    • @liamc8085
      @liamc8085 Před rokem +1

      its NA and WHP not BHP. WHP is always less. It's only 2.4 L so ur probably only making 180ish ftlbs of torque without forced induction. Throw in some upgraded internals from Manley, BC, or diamond and you can make a reliable 9k rpm easy so probably 300+ hp. You will lose a little torque but it's still NA. Throw in Forced induction and you can truly see some crazy numbers. You could also just put a k20 head on the k24 block (cheaper) but you would still need to upgrade internals to add forced induction anyways and the cheap power is less reliable.

    • @liamc8085
      @liamc8085 Před rokem

      what I meant by the k20 head swap is ur pushing the internals to near limit so you can't continue to add a turbo without upgrading the internals anyway so might as well just upgrade the internals in the first place (if you have the money).

    Engine swap to just make 218hp and little torque? Wouldn't a an aluminum LS2 or LS3 make more sense? They're lighter than a K24 and make much more power and torque. My husband swapped LS3 in to his RX-7 and it made 430hp and 422lb torque. Aluminum LS3 weighs in at 403 lbs and K24 weighs in at 413 lbs.

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  Před 2 lety +25

      Can you buy an LS3 for $600? Plus, that engine doesn't work in the class that he's competing in. It needs to be 2.5L or less.

    • @mariagus805
      @mariagus805 Před 2 lety +7

      @@KevinVo my husband and I picked up the LS for $450, it only had 55k miles but that didn't matter we were rebuilding it anyways, probably could have found it cheaper but we were impatient. Had no idea those LS2/LS3 were in MANY MANY MANY MANY GM cars, everything from sedans, to trucks, to even plain SUVs. But I understand now because of your ClubTR very restricted class rules, if it's built specifically for that it makes sense. My buddy Qartoumy runs in the unlimited class with his C6 Corvette, not as restricted.
