This is so fantastic to see!! My whole life I was a car fan and I dreamed of building and repairing cars. Sadly I was not cut out to be one and I turned another way. Seeing you guys work on a project like that is just amazing!! I owned a civic and it was not fast enough to witness the birth of my second daughter from the moment when I got the call when being on duty and me " racing" back home sadly I wasn't fast enough. If I would have had this beauty, things would have turned different. Anyway, enough of the sentimental part the bottom line is I always loved Honda and had special love for the Civic. So thank you for sharing this, being the owner of that car must sure be freaking awesome!! (bit jealous here lol) Warm greetings from there Netherlands !! keep them rolling ;)

@saltybmxer6977 you'd be surprised how much is left on thebtable without proper driver support. I had a Lexus is and I was fighting that car on the track because I couldn't stay on my seat. With proper support comes more focus and confidence. I could see at least 2 seconds from a seat.

I mean if you think about it, it kinda is. You are taking what is essentially a couple hundred pound paper weight and turning it into a thing that can make more power than human can in their entire life in just a matter of seconds.
It is magic, cuz it'd take magic for you getting it up and runnin on the first start, typically you'd go "shit, come on girl not like this"

BTW, to the guys of Donut, this and Real Mechanic Stuff are my two new favorite channels and I want to thank you guys for feeding my inspiration to become a certified mechanic and someday have my own shop too. I started working on motorcycles as a hobby when I was a teenager and had a natural talent for it, but then I joined the Army and spent a lot of years in related fields and my mechanical talents sat on the back burner for a long time. Now I'm 35 and I have finally realized that you don't have to hate your job and break your body to adult properly and my passion for working on mechanical things has come back to life and you guys are feeding that fire in me. You guys are so down to earth and seem like dudes I would love hanging around with turning wrenches all day and I hope I get to work with guys like you when I get that far. So thank you for inspiring me and I hope to keep seeing videos from you guys for a long time to come.

It definitely felt super rushed, but I don't think a whole season. Q 2-parter feels like it would be the perfect sweet spot for something like this. Maybe do a Friday& Saturday special for it?

I love the EG's , have one myself for autocross. Stiffer springs, some chassis bracing , proper track alignment and a Kirkey and there is no doubt you will drop a fair amount of time. Hopefully enough to catch the CTR.

I have a Peugeot 206 with 105 hp. You have no ideahow much i love this antique car. I just wish i could give it to you guys so that you could do your magic on its engine like you did to this civic. Driving it with twice the power would be absolutely legendary.

Nice man hope you enjoy the 8th gen si. I have a 2007 2 door si, owned for 6 years, bought at 60k miles now 120k miles.
Clutch will go around 80k-100k miles. Suspension will need replacement or upgrade around same time. Oil will start buring around 100k miles on average, some say from new but mine was fine out of v-tech till about 100k miles. Radio / Radio Dash lights can be quirky. That's about it I think, oh and a good alignment is needed on these cars as well.

I miss the k20 from 2006 si I've had but the transmission was shit. Kept kicking me out of third gear. Had bad syncros. Other than that was a super fun car
@@jikwag3415 I'm loving how the k20 feels, coming from a 91 civic its a huge improvement over the d16. I'm sorry to hear that about your tranny, mine seems to be in better condition than my old cars was, which is impressive considering it was 5 years newer. No pops, grinds or anything

I owned a Civic Hatchback EG in that same color. Bought it new in 92.
I LOVED that car... everything was manual (manual windows, manual locks, direct gear driven steering, direct brakes etc..)
I think the only wires back of the dashboard were for the brake lights/turn signals.
What an awesome car it was to drive in '92.
Wish I still had that car today.

This is my favorite build so far! I owned 12 civics over the years, all between 92-2000. My fastest was a 96 Si i bought from the scrapyard for $200 as a completely stripped, bare shell. I put $13k into it while in college to become an auto technician (though i was already doing that job before, just went for certifications), and built an all motor, B18a1, that brought that car into the low 13 second quarter mile. It was an absolute beast, and the Acura EL front clip really made it stand out. I miss that thing, and this build reminds me of it a LOT, though I built the whole car in my fathers backyard, with just hand tools, a shitty cheap jack , and a set of homemade ramps. Took me two summers to put it all together, and i drove it maybe 5 times tops before selling it before my first son was born 8 years ago. I miss that car every single day.
ITB's /Headers/Exhaust. Lightened flywheel, Brake upgrade, oversize TB, upgrade cooling and fuel management. Why not some proper swaybars as well and a high quality coilover setup. Get it on the dyno and tune it properly
Brain is a legend in the Honda world. Still have my EF stored away with his Hasport mounts since 98/99.

With some racing seats, and some suspension upgrades, I believe it’ll hang with an FL5 no problem.

@@cosworthTV because racing seats keep you in place rather than just sliding all around. Good seating position and posture will also help you keep better control of the vehicle.

The original EG Civic lap time before suspension and brake upgrades was 1:58. And now with just those two upgrades it's 1:41?! Excellent! That's a 17-second improvement!...and I haven't even gotten to the engine swap portion of this video yet...

Had a buddy of mine way back in 1999 put a v8 w/ racing gear included tranny in a 1991 Honda Prelude. Couldn't fit it in w/ the hood closed so they literally beat the frame out on the sides and changed the timing so they could fit it in at an angle to get the hood closed. I rode in it only once. It was stupid fast but man was it squirrely AF!
Wild that 210wheel HP is able to bust out low 5s 0-60 times. Probably high 4s if he has better prep or tried multiple time. Just nuts.
Give that man a rev counter or at least a shift light and you'll gain time by not hitting the limiter 👌

Really enjoying this EG series you guys are doing! Making me miss my old EG. I had plans of engine swapping mine, but ended up getting rid of the car before I got to that point. I looked at a K series swap, but wasn't a fan of cutting into the EG, flipping the engine and transmission from the original architecture or dealing with the wiring and computer. For me if I had kept the car and done the swap, I would've gone with a B series as it is literally plug n play and can be done in an afternoon. But I completely understand why you went the route you did. Can't wait for the next video and I agree, seats are going to make a huge difference on lap times! Those factory EG seats offer zero lateral support.

@@gammauno I am so glad that on my 12 Civic Si the filter was positioned vertically instead of horizontal, my old D17 had it that way and it was an absolute mess when doing oil changes, also what a screamer that thing is at 8600 RPM!

I think you need to add Recaro race seats and maybe a better set of rims and tires and a better tach w/a shift light to know when to shift to optimize the power to the ground. I love these videos and look forward to seeing them.

Wth! I remember slapping a K20 in my hatchie and man it was insane! I did mine back in 2007 with a 1999 hatch. I reinforced the frame bc at a show one time I saw a front end bend with a K20 swap (his was obviously insane) but just to be sure I still did it anyway and it felt pretty good. Love seeing civic projects especially the 90 civics and accords, those cars are just different. Hardly any weight and the aftermarket is packed full of parts.
