Does the diesel leave a smell on the wood after the drying process?
Also wood you use the diesel process on Oak or Maple etc?
Wood dust floating in the air will settle in the vent hole and allow leakage. A small cotton pad secure on top will delay failure
Your video is the most clear of all the websits i watch.
That is some very nice pine you cut there on the mill today Nathan after your quick fix on the diesel pump. Good visual of the effect the diesel has on the saw blade too. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
Had to go back and watch your first videos on the LT 70
She is a beauty. And fast. You couldn't have picked any better music, it just brought out all the beauty in that wood.
Impressive LT70. Smooth, uniform laser cuts. Happy for you. Now you can produce higher quality lumber, especially with the kiln.
Going to be an interesting year.
It is just so interesting to see the different grains in all the lumber. Thanks for sharing.
I know nothing about sawmills and even I am impressed with this monster!
Thanks for sharing with us Nathan, good job fixing to leak and showing how good the diesel does cleaning the blades and rollers. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Even though the cap is plastic applying Teflon tape will not hurt. When you tighten the plug use just enough torque to make a good seal, you can always give it a little more if it leaks. Say hi to Mike & Melissa Morgan when you are at the Paul Bunion event. Now we be cuttin wood! Great video Nathan, thumbs up.
Ok, that new mill is smooth!
Enjoy the new mill you have a lot of sawing adventures ahead of you.
@ 0:20... That was a beautiful spot with the ramblin creek in the woods. Additionally... Your sawmill is awesome
Great you got the leak stopped. When in doubt - replace the plug. New mill looks great. Take care - be safe. Have a fun time at the show.
That thing is sweet! You’re filming is getting so damn good! Thank you so much really enjoy it and hope to put a handshake on you someday! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱
That ugly log sure turned out some beautiful boards. My sister and brother-in-law talks about how beautiful it is there in Kingsport where they like also. They love hiking the beautiful woods y'all have around you. Love your new machine.
😂 You got me good with that early “ending “.
haha hang in there buddy,
Great new piece of kit. Looking forward to seeing the new logs being sawn.
The end footage Nathan was stunning
Beautiful place you can call home right there.
❤️
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Thanks 👍
I can tell you are very happy 😊 with your new mill, congratulations 🎉 good job 👍 Dish
Thanks
Oh to be born into a family with a big commercial mill with all the bells and whistles.
That's still some pretty wood.
I work with pine every so often and would love to have a couple thousand B.F of that pretty stuff.
Hope you're liking the new saw mill.
Take care.
Nice machine, very precise operations, you are mastering the LT70 pretty quickly, you need to be proud of your accomplishments, well done, Proud to be a PATREON Sponsor
Glad for a quick fix.
yes sir
That enjoyable intro!---That gorgeous wood is speaking to me...come!---That amazing ending is also softly saying...come.
thanks Alana
Such a smooth cut WOW.....What a fine deal....Thanks Nathan...! PS l like the light laser ...~~~!
Really like the new mill. Nice music also. 🤙🙏
Nathan, the o ring is working as advertised. The reason you have a o ring is the plug is not NPT or National Pipe Thread! Teflon tape is normally only used on NPT stuff. You can use thread tape but it's useless since you have a o ring! Hope this helps Nathan...
Thanks Peter
No tape. That is a straight thread plug. Oring is sealing device.
Right on Pete. But sometimes the o ring don't work or you can't get one and then go to thread tape or rtv silicone or electrical tape or toilet paper or beef jerky or tree bark or whatever you can find to make it stop leaking diesel.
@@tannercayenne - if the o ring leaks then someone likely over tightened it. General rule with o-rings are snug it and then 1/2 turn otherwise you tear up the ring and it won’t seal. They used an o-ring on this pump likely because the plug is plastic, and if they tried thread sealant with that, it can get into the pump if you remove the plug and don’t clean it well, and inevitably with thread sealant / tape, people don’t wrap it correctly and they get leakage, and then overtighten it, and strip it out or crack the plug.
@@tannercayenne
Man, I love your substitution suggestions! Suprised you didn't mention three of my favorites: duct tape, bread ties, and bubblegum!
May I suggest another T-Shirt design? A Sawyer pattern on the back and the Mrs. Quilting on the front? Get more of the families passions involved. Just a thought.
That’s some fancy cutting. Looks like spy. Enjoying your channel, thank you so much. God be with you.
Thank you! You too!
Wow Nathan that new sawmill was worth waiting for. That’s really nice. That diesel really does the trick too. 👍👍👍❤️
That has to be some of the best grained board as for beauty. So pretty makes my day just to see them.
Nathan, When you sold your LT40 wide diesel for a new mill I knew it was going to get serious! Congratulations You Have the boss of saw mills!
So happy to see some one who knows the right way to use Water pump pliers. Good Job.
thank you Phil,
The one fleeting moment when the inner beauty of that piece of wood is revealed is the only reason I watch this channel. I'm happy for you with all your recent success and all your toys ( and don't think we all haven't seen you grow ) .......nothing like a pandemic and a lockdown to make a channel on the Tube grow like weeds. Please try to show more shots of the finished product.
Thanks for watching
Great to see you sawing again. I watch every video in hopes of learning how to saw lumber...and I do...the blade chatter tip on last video was something I foresee helping me in the future...keep up the great vudeos
Thanks for watching
That machine is really great and efficient. Congrats
Thanks!
Beautiful sawing, video and music
Beautiful cuts
Thanks
thanks. Seems you are getting comfortable with the new saw quickly. No doubt your years of experience help.
Very cool! And I love your taste in music.
Thank you!
As usual both saw and blade are working well with no distortion or blade float.
WOW THAT IS SUPER NICE CUTTING < WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOME OF THOSE BOARDS < KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK YOU DO 👍👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦MANITOBA
You have really gotten good at putting together these videos. The music is wonderful, the drone shots are great, and the content is both educational and entertaining (not an easy task to accomplish). Keep up the good work!
Thanks 👍👍👍
Hey there Nathan. You got a bunch of cartoon faces out of that log.
That new mill cuts awesome.
Indeed need to speed her up
Nice video Nathan, loving the new mill.Graham🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
Thanks buddy
Love the Lazer
Thanks
that new mill looks like it cuts through like butter!
The new mill sure runs slick.
I love your new introduction, it reminds me of the woods I used to play in, in Canada. To seal liquid leaks seal the threads with flexable sealant from a reputable brand like Permatex. Teflon does not seal air leaks blue locktite does seal air leaks. Doesn't diesel create a fire hazzard when used as a lubricant. When all else fails read the instruction manual supplied by the manufacturer.
Diesel has a higher flash point and shouldn't catch fire unless it comes in contact with direct flame. Even then it takes some time before it heats up to it's fire point.
Beautiful outtro montage!
Thanks 👍👍
Ahhhh….something mystical about fresh cut wood.
When I mill pine, I find the knots look like Sid off of Ice Age. The new shirts are cool and cant wait to order one up! Thank you for the video of your new thoroughbred!🐎
You are so welcome!
Congrats on the new toy Nathan.
That is a beautiful machine. Best of luck with it!
Thank you very much!
Nice to see you back at it, 🙋🏻♂️
Good to be back
That is an incredible machine.
I need some of that 1x up here. Nice new mill!!
Thanks for watching
That laser is pretty slick!! Im gonna have to rig me one up.
Congratulations on the new sawmill.
Thank you!
13:01
Beautiful shot right there, Mister !
Yes, it is. Where is that? Doesn't look like TN.
Nice Lazer line and the grain is beautiful!
Thanks 👍
Absolutely stunning Intro and outro footage.
-Ben
Thanks buddy
Really nice mill. Bet you are glad to be cutting again!
Thanks
like the laser and the board return
Me2
Love the new sawmill! My dream sawmill is the lt40 wide you had. But seeing this new lt70 has made me rethink my dream. Maybe one day..
I was the same with my 40, it was a good mill but not even close to the 70
Same here. I run diesel but mix it with bar and chain lube. Keeps the pitch off and no rust.
Love your local scenery.
Thanks 👍👍
Wahoo, we’re back in business!
Great looking sawmill
Thanks 👍
You are correct....o-ring = no tape.... It's seems to be a defective vacuum breaker.
I make sure I drain my hose on mine...just because I'm OCD... It's a "Fil-Rite" hand crank....
I have a cart with castor's so I can move it around...and it's a 150 gal...that's the min delivery quanity from the distributor.
I love the new LT70 Wide...makes me so jellous.
Best Wishes Nathan! 🤠
Impressive new saw mill, a big step up so production should increase also.
Opening and closing, your drone skills produce some amazing footage.
Thanks 👍
Love the new “monster”!!! Whatta machine!!
Thanks 👍👍
looks good
congrads on the 70!
Thanks buddy
Awesome sawmill! Expensive, but worth every penny. I love the laser accessory.
Cambridge is more Central Ohio, on I-77 just north of the insection of I-70 and I-77. About halfway between Columbus, Ohio and Wheeling, WV.
Thanks 👍👍
The best lubricant by far I have ever used is transmission fluid. It really does work!
Hi Nathan very impressive mill. There will be many rewarding hours spent using it to!!! Cheers!
Thanks
Loved the whole video, but the music at the end was awesome.....would love to hear more of it, Nathan. : )
Noted!
Great looking grain
Thanks 👍
Nice mill looks like its going to be very productive for you. 2 observations, that chain log turner leaves some deep marks in the surface of the wood. Second with the sawdust chute you could very easily place a conveyor under the discharge chute and run your sawdust outside directly onto a pile. How are you finding the joystick controls compared to the previous levers?
I am not too far from you, but my brother-in-law down in lower Alabama mainly saws pine on his LT35 and uses a pine sole and water mixture that works good. I have that mill several times and enjoy every minute of it. We sawed a 31 foot pine log last two weekends ago without extensions. That took most of the day but we had a nice straight 6”x12”x31’ beam when we finished.
Thought the intro looked familiar. I'm down in Maryville and relly do enjoy watching. Keep it up. Jim
Thanks for watching
Nice job O' bearded one.
ty
YES, definitely.
Cambridge is about 45 miles from the Wv. border. See you at the festival.

Too bad your not further down south. Would love to see you mill a rainbow eucalyptus log. Bet that would be beautiful. A rainbow eucalyptus was my dad's favorite tree.
That a cool saw mill. Cuts smooth. I love the top down views.
Is the lt70 the end all be all of bandsaw mills? Is there an upgrade to it? Everything I know about saw Mills is because of your channel. I started following several months before the pandemic. Never thought I'd be the type of guy to watch saw mill videos on the internet yet here I am still. Anyway, thanks for the great vids.
The LT70 is a righteous mill, but the end all be all of band saw mills it is not. It's really just a baby mill compared to the rigs the commercial lumber guys use.
Nathan that machine is Bad to da bone my friend. I just got my LT15START. Keep up the videos coming enjoy watching from down here in Rayne La frog capital of the world
That first woodsy clip looked like Pamelia Creek here in western Oregon, my favorite hiking trail. It is so popular now you need a permit.
Haha a permit to hike. Land of the free!
We ran diesel wicks on our Salem band mill that had 7’ band wheels.
You are a luckier man but where is your lay off man. You know who I'm talking about. Love the mechine.
Cutting like butter…👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸
Looken good, cutten good, worken good!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!!!!
The Morgans will also be there as well. Hope you and Mike can hook up.
The O ring is a soft seal. Therefor you should tighten hand tight and then 1/4 turn , what may be happening is you are crushing O ring.
My thoughts exactly! Too tight is not the way you want to go!
Agree with Mike. When unscrewing the old piece it seemed that Nathan had to use a lot of torque
Nathan Teflon tape and pipe dope is only a lubricant not a thread sealant... NPT threads are tapered and that's what creates the seal as you tighten... Teflon and dope only lubricates so you can tighten enough to seal the threads as the tapers start to lock together.... Main rule with plastic is don't over tighten.... Nice mill...
