Makes the Woodmizer look like it's on a walking frame.
Love your work boys. Love your work.
I love the work ethic of the Amish.
Strong man turned that log easy can tell hes not afraid of work
Interesting point , the fact the log turns were called niggers at first is due to the fact the mill would use it's biggest, strongest man to turn the logs and in most cases that was a black man
Ni e little mill, quite labour intensive by some standards but looks very well maintained. I'd love to see what they've got in the saw shop, thats the real heart of any sawmill.
Sure is and I've seen MANY a day an old Frick circle mill powered by a GM/Detroit 4-71 keep 6 people hopping. HOPPING!
What a great design for a bandsaw mill
An old Frick circle mill with edger will run circles around most small band mills. Ran the edger behind a Frick circle mill when younger and you knew you put in a day's work after 8 or 10 hours.
I have a old frick mill I prefer my woodmizer that frick will work the crap out of you
A circle saw is ALWAYS faster than than bandsaw
Brings back memories of my uncles circular mill with edger. Ran by small diesel and belts. Efficient.
Very nice mill , it cuts a little slower than a circle mill but well makes up for it with the thin kurf..
but seriously did it after the sawn product was on the ground for a month? How much checking, now and yaw was still in timber.. yup nice to see the mill but we dont see anything apart from the green off saw after drying and ready for pressure treating? Im thinking through my pressure treatment plant id have rejected the lot. Not enough care, not enough attention to the log and just a small spit it out skunk fight..
Can watch this all day ! It’s a lot better than doing it. At least I couldn’t now 30 years ago did it. Love it.
Impressive piece of kit!
Nice work, never be afraid of work. Roll up your sleeves and do your work. Nice clean work area as I like it.
Comparing apples to oranges, or maybe bananas. Good video of the Amish sawing logs on a large band with a hand set carriage.
That's how it's done God Bless y'all 😁😁😁
Great millwork
Just subscribe to your channel I like your Mill That's a nice setup I'll be watching more of your videos so stay safe and have a good day
Nice sawmill setup
Thanks!
👏 fantastic. Big money maker!
that's a funny sounding saw motor
Nice I like it better than a wood miser
That's way cool!!!
hi there nice mill john
Very impressive setup where is this sawmill located at?
I would love to own a band mill like this but powered by a large steel overshot water wheel along side a small river.
I enjoy that this Amish mill is so quiet compared to other sawmill videos I have watched with large circular saws.
A clean tidy sawmill that is a first
Amazing 🙏👍
What is the name of this sawmill and where is it located? Thank you
Now that's my idea of a nice small mill. Love the band saw . Being Amish means you don't need safety equipment like gloves ?
Our new super mill in Rotorua NZ puts a log through every 8 seconds
wood mizer's are home owners type mill. you are right the amish guys have the real deal commercial mills. this slow mill in the vid is super slow. our local amish mill is 4x faster. they have a crazy lil 10 yr old who is way better with a forklift than i am LOL. good ppl the amish.
What kind of engine dose it have?
Let's see the front of the saw blade going into the log on the operator side
Perdón diámetro de Sierra de corte entre 80 y 120 Cms de diámetro.
Back when I had to walk 10 miles to school and back I I worked at a sawmill like this but the mill was powered by a water wheel. lol
It would have been nice if the camera had been on the frontside so we could see the cutting action.
way cool
Nice sawmill amazingly clean. What brand sawmill ?
It's Amish made, It doesn't have a brand that I am aware of.
It looks like it was built from parts of different sawmills, but I'm not sure about it. But it's a good job and a nice sawmill.
Where is this at
Aonde fica esse lugar?
What do they do with the sawdust, the slab boards and the slab boards that need edging?
Sawdust is used for horse bedding. Slab wood is used for firewood. Boards are edged either on the mill or the edger that is run on the same belt system.
@@BarnGeek I looked up an old sawyer when I was putting my circular saw together. He was in his 90's and his saw was idle . He told me that his first job as a boy was to buck up the slabs on a buzzsaw, load it in a cart, and deliver it with a horse to every house in the village. People got a weekly supply for their cookstoves. Softwood slabs dry really fast and make a very hot fire. It's great in the summertime because the fire dies quickly when it's not being fed so it doesn't heat up the house, and even little kids can split it.
it may be "faster" but it cannot cut a 34" wide slab.
What you building a canoe lol
@@kennetheugene6402first time hearing of wood slabs?
I work in a mill
Like that..one
Very small capacity good for dimensional lumber
Why is the tailer walking back and forth the conveyer is running so the board comes to you
Nice mill, quality lumber ! What runs it ? … and why music?
I can't hear the saw and I can't see the band. Why?
Must be two inch or wider band
Faster isn't always better...
Implying a comparison between a stationary mill and a portable mill is a bit unfair isn't it?
Do they use electricity ??
When the feel like it. Do you use it ?
Interesting. Almost entirely fabricated from tube and bar stock. Only castings I see are the gears and bearing housings. With no foundries left, the only way to get one now.
Yes, I was surprised to see this style mill still being built.
Nice machine, operating it without gloves or eye protection let alone hearing protection ain't where it's at. No guards around drive system and open gears is also very dangerous.
A sawmill is dangerous, even with every guard your mind could imagine.
LEAVE THE AMISH ALONE. EXCELLENT MUSIC 👍🤠🇺🇸
Not in the Amish tradition of no gas or electric ! Whats up with that ?
Yes, they don't use electricity, but they do use stationary internal combustion engines. This sawmill is run by a stationary engine, driven by belts.
Very nice set up.
Amish come with a variety of traditions. They're not all the same. I visited an Amish sawmill that wouldn't allow photography.
Generators produce electricity they are off grid… get it straight
I thought that the Amish were against using any modern equipment
Well, now you know better.
It’s not even close to my circular mill
Is that genuine Amish music ? I am guessing no.
What? Didn't the Amish have to do everything with horses and grub hoes and corn cobs?
Thought they didn't believe in using technology 🤔 lol 😆 guess they changed there beliefs
Nope, they have been using this kind of tech, as long as the rest of us have.
You don't know anything about them.
My Belsaw is faster than a standard LT40 manual mill, yeah.
All day long and there’s no wavy wood.
I don't think a, WoodMizer was every noted as being fast , they are noted for good sizes, smooth cuts, and thin kerf
How do you think this Amish sawmill does compared to a Woodmizer on those aspects?
@@BarnGeek so let’s talk about circle saw mills take ten log of the same size and compare board footage Between a band mill then figure out dollars in the extra lumber you get from a band mill
@@rickdunn7585 Yes, that is true, however the mill in the video IS a band saw mill. So my comparison is with two different styles of Band Sawmill. We can talk about circle mills if you want, but that isn't the subject of this video.
@@BarnGeek The amish rig is making comparable lumber twice as fast. Maybe more.
This might not be faster than a woodmizer, but that mill with a 56” circular saw will out cut a woodmizer all day long
You got that right!
A circular will make 3x the sawdust. And not as accurate end to end.
@@sociallyunaceptable981 depends on the Sawyer and how good he can set the guides
100% agreed
I have a woodmizer LT40 super hyd. and a 48" headrig mill with a 6-71 theres no comparison
@@sociallyunaceptable981 Not hardly my #2 meadows would made very tight toleranced lumber. Way more accurate than 99% of band mills. Not to mention that it was scary fast compared to this mill or and small scale bandmill that exists. Plus with a good blade and j the right setup 1/4 inch kerf was very attainable with a quality circle mill and most band saw mills are right at half of that..
Surely using diesel power to cut wood means you can also use diesel power to travel around too.
But you can use horses for that
Bit hard to use horses to cut lumber, not that I'm familiar with such things
Ever since the 1st time I saw one of these Amish critters, their facial get up has always left me laughing so hard.
There should be a law requiring that a mustache be worn with a beard!
They remind me of that ''KADEROFF'' Russian dude what is fighting against Ukraine.@@bouffant-girl
10:00 should not keep cutting it like this..grains are running different directions. Should keep turning it over to cut a a new piece to keep grains same direction. And leave that center (pith) to the end cause it's mainly useless.
strange, I did not think the Amish used diesel engines
Common myth
If they are Amish they are new order Amish because there’s no way any old order Amish would allow themselves to be filmed like this.
100% Unvaccinated lions! God bless their mistrust of the “world”
I really love how the Amish and bretheren are really trying justify their commercial capacity.. like your mill a woodmizer has its position within the market are you selling this set up commercially to paddock operators or just hiding behind religion to highlight old gear that you have built yourself to hang crap on others?
God be with you.. Lets all work in harmony
Wow, dude! I'm just a guy that likes sawmills. Maybe Chill a little bit. Have a nice day buddy. Good Bless.
I had one too but the wheels fell off.
Whoaa. This dude is wayyyy too serious.
Very slow
Only if you're in a hurry.
With ten times the horsepower it should be ten times as fast! The reality is this IS cheating for Amish. If it were steam powered like my grandfathers back in the 40s and 50s it would be more in line with Amish values. BTW: We are not Amish.
You said you aren't Amish so... What makes you think you have the right to determine whether or not they are cheating at being Amish?
@@BarnGeek It's run off a Diesel engine! That's modern technology even if the engine is 60 years old!!
@@mobeydick37 Where do you get the idea that they can't use tech unless it's years old? Dude, they have fiberglass buggies, and cell phones! Of course they are going to use a Diesel engine. But all of that is besides the point, my question to you is this. Why do you feel you have any kind of say in the matter anyway? You obviously have no idea what it means to be Amish, and you aren't one. Nobody cares what you think about this.
The guy is just making observations, nothing wrong with that
Even if they where cheating , they're no bother to anyone , let them be . Very nice setup btw !
Cortar madera blanda como es el pino es facil y rapido !!!
Impressive piece of kit!
