Pre-Orders for the Lian Li Uni P28 fans will be available starting 5/12!
Thanks Jay :)
For our European audience- it begins on the 12th of May
Just to clarify some fan terminology: angle of attack refers to the angle between the incoming air and the mean camber line (imaginary line from lead edge to trailing edge), the curvature of the blade is referred to as the camber, chord length is the length of the blade cross-section from leading edge to trailing edge in a straight line, and pitch is the overall angle of the blade relative to rotation. When you refer to the angle of attack changing due to the deeper fan, it really is the chord length and pitch that are changing and not the angle of attack. Sorry for the rant, but as an aerospace engineer, just thought I would clarify. Love the videos! You are one of my favorite tech CZcamsrs.
Is this the twelfth of May, or the fifth of December? :D
The blade "swoop" is the "Pitch"
Did Jay really make a video with moving fans and not get his finger stuck in it? I am impressed.
was thinking the same
Same! 😂 I’ve seen enough videos of Jay hurting himself and thought this would be a for sure way for him to hurt himself
They also didn't do the carrot test or use a tissue to indicate flow 😂
i thought the same
Ah man, spoilers…. Haha
It's quite impressive what LianLi has been doing to their fan products, it is expensive but it is damn well thought and designed. I have the AL120 and some other generic fans, and it's NOTICABLE the difference between both. Also they are always innovating into giving people options and options that are really well executed.
i got 9 SL fans when they first came available. (i personally dont like the AL version lighting) I will never buy another fan unless they have a similar connection style like the Lian Li Unifans. Reduced cables and just a solid system over all.
My only complaint with Lian Li's fans are the software. I wish L-Connect had more lighting customization and didn't require admin permission every time you boot your computer. If there was a way to use iCue with these fan's I'd call them perfect.
@@LeOneToyota i wished my SL120 can get controlled by L-Connect...since i got them, the Software never changed the Speed whatever i do :D
@@LeOneToyota you can turn the software initialization on windows startup off and it will still keep working just fine, that was annoying me as well.
wish the same could be said about their AIO because the galahad long term is complete garbage. Already had to get a replacement from Lian Li not barely a year after using it...and yes it was positioned 'correctly'. IMO Lian Li makes ok products but if you want real temperature improvements you go with Noctua.
i am SO ungodly happy for these. RGB is cool but i prefer not having lighting. TOTALLY picking these guys up when they come out
I've got some Seasonic Magflow fans for this reason. Similar in that they're modular but with no LEDs, only 120mm though.
I'm thinking of getting these pretty soon. Been impressed with what Lian Li has done with their fans so far.
I really want Lian-Li to release a reverse flow fan. If you want a good fan layout in their own case, you'll be seeing a lot of the backs of fans. While they did make some of them nice, like the infinity fan, the front is still considerably nicer looking. This alone has me considering Phanteks or Thermaltake, even though I prefer the look of the unifan.
Thermaltake has the SwaFan. If you haven't check that out.
@@benjaminthorpe3380 Yeah, I know about those which is why I said I was considering it, especially since they now have the single cable design too. Thing is I really like the look of the infinity mirror unifan
@@benjaminthorpe3380 Thermaltake is garbage.
Yeah same here. I'd like to use Lian LI fans, but then I gotta look at fan backs all day and who the hell likes fan backs!? So D30's it is.
Phanteks D30s are awesome
JY just wanted to thank you. At 52 years old I built my first ever computer and it booted up on the first power on. Went so smooth and I owe it all to you and your amazing videos. Thank you
Lian li never fails to impress me! I'm using the 011d xl case with 10 of the SL120's and the V2 strimers and the look n performance is fantastic! Thank's for the updates n info Jay!!!!
I’m using the Lian Li SL120 3pk - they are absolutely incredible! The lighting is very bright, but they don’t irritate your eyes as if you’re seeing a plain l.e.d.
this is awesome. i was actually just asking about non-rgb uni fans on the Lian Li subreddit a few months ago.
I've always liked Lian-Li products. All the way back to my first full custom build in 2002 with the brushed aluminum case. I think I still have it sitting in storage somewhere with a dual core Athlon sitting in it.
Also, airflow restriction on a fan actually decreases the workload and fan RPM increases to keep the amp draw roughly the same. For example you'll notice this when using a vacuum cleaner and you block the hose. Airflow throughput = work.
However, since these are smarter PWM controlled fans, they probably have some combination of Static Pressure and sound control based on RPM & Amps and that's why they slowed down.
Correct.
I suspect those fans will move 92.0 CFM flow at Zero mm H20 pressure.
And will produce 4.79 mm H20 pressure at Zero CFM flow.
Or very close to these numbers....
FINALY!!!!! Ive been waiting for P28's since they were announced! Cant wait to get some.
Nice for people who want to have the option to choose with or without rgb. Personally I'll go with either the SL 120 or Infinity. Both are my favorite.
All the CFM in this video reminded me of a video you did a while back saying we still use CFM everywhere even in metric countries. In metric countries (that's everywhere outside of the US by the way lol) they use m3 per min, but CFM is popular in the same way that display sizes are still advertised in inches pretty much everywhere too.
I also enjoyed the seamless mixture of units of measure being used with the CFM and mmH2O lol.
Damn, I remember drooling over Lian Li full aluminum cases back in the day when I was a cage stocker at Frys. This was in the early 2000's They, and computing in general, have come a long, long way since then. Good for them. They make great truly innovative products.
As someone who doesn't like RGB o my cases, I really appreciate seeing unlit options!
Them some dope fans. Love the options.
Thanks for your content. I Always appreciate your work.
I've got 10 SLinfinity fans in my rig right now. They don't perform the best for water cooling but I decided to make that trade off of higher water Temps for the best looking fans possible.
That said the performance on these is very compelling. I'm tempted to swap over.
I really love everything LianLi is doing right now. I have the 011 dynamic XL plus 7 of their SL120s I love them both. However I'd like to note that in the 1 year I've had them running the LEDs on the SL120s have got duller and duller to the point that one of them has no LED at all.
that was an interresting and very informative subject, thx Jay! i definitly learned something new, which is always awesome ^^
I bought some Corsair maglev fans, haven't arrived yet but I'm excited, even though they are rated at 30dbs. Upgrading from Dell case fans from 2005.
I've been an NZXT guy for a while, but for my next full build (which I am planning for next year), I am going all in on Lian Li!
They look awesome.
i bought one yesterday from what i saw it is one of the best airflow fans that looks good
Wow Jay! I'm really impressed! I'll buy Lian-Li fans for my next bld!
To me, that air passing through the Rad is a beautiful sound.
Nice for people who want to have the option to choose with or without rgb. They look awesome.
I'm most definitely getting these as my radiator fans.
I forgot how good your content is.
Got 15 Infinitys in my 7000D. Just love the Lian Li fans.
Sounds good 😁I was looking for some new fans too ! Cool stuff.
The way everything just slots in is sooo satisfying
My dream build includes fans like these. Thanks for the video! Like included!
Interesting Thanx Jay
love lian li fans, i went through so many cheap budget fans, decided to splash out get lian li, never looked back, wasnt going to upgrade my al120s but dam that a lot of cooling power
Awesome, I was looking to change my fans out
those are FANtastic
great options from lian li
great idea! i like it
I'm going to be doing a build in a lian li o11 xl in the fall, I'll probably be using these fans.
I love my Lian Li Uni Infinity fans! Replaced my Corsair fans with them and haven't looked back. They look amazing in the case, lighting is clean, they perform very well and the minimalist cable management is truly priceless to me. As an example, I have a Lian Li O11D Evo with 10 Infinity fans. I basically replaced the 10 Corsair fans that had 20 individual cables (2 per fan) and the two controllers they were connected to, down to only 4 total cables (4 groups with one cable per group) and one controller. Cable management was a breeze. So I have nothing but good things to say about their fan solutions. These new fans are no exception. A performance fan that appeals to both the non-RGB crowd, as well as giving an option for those that want the performance with RGB. All while staying in the Lian Li eco system. Good stuff. Now, if only Lian Li would start making reverse airflow versions and/or fans you could manually swap the direction of the blades, that would be great. It would clean up seeing the backs of fans in the case.
Reversable fans would be KILLER in some builds
i love jay's videos where he's being himself. i can't stand these videos that are just an ad.
Now THIS is cool. Lian Li is basically leading the fan market at this point, and its super cool to seem them come out with some non rgb fans and bring more innovation to the table at the same time. Goes to show they're really pushing and not resting on what they've already achieved, which is a helluva lot.
I disagree I think it's Thermaltake especially with their swafans that let you swap the fan blade direction so you don't have to worry about how you position your fans. Also the Lian Li connectors are just NZXTs design but much improved. Also Thermaltake has fans that just interconnect as well and they came out around the same time as Lian Li. I think Lian Li is just more popular and spend more on marketing.
Phanteks, be quiet, Noctua are the actual narket leaders in terms of performance.
@@Chopper153 Unifan P28 beats Noctua NF-A12x25 in every way possible (according to spec sheet). Only the thicker T30 will probably beat this one. Noctua slept for many years after ripping off Nidec Gentle Typhoon and now everyone has surpassed them.
Love their cases, Love their fans, I just hate their fan prices lol Great video! Great review!
A lot of variations, easy to find your fitting. But again, I agree with the Prices on the fans. ❤😅
ever heard of corsair ?
@@sopcannon I hope you don't mean that in a positive way, cause corsair reeeeeally lost their mind regarding prices haha
@@IIShana-chan no definitely sarcasm. i have 5 corsair ql fans which i bought after having other corsair fans.
@@sopcannon beQuiet! has some crazy prices as well. 3:0
I have the original UNI fans and I'm mostly very happy with them. I had to buy some of those adapters so that I could just plug them into my motherboard. I have 13 of them (long story) and only one of them is not working in optimal condition which I appreciate. I'd have preferred 13 for 13 but that's not the worst success rate.
Hey Jay! Another great vid, I was wondering if you could do a video about your filming setup! I’d love to see a little bit of the behind the scenes action with Phil and the cameras
Whoa!!! A video where Jay did NOT stick his fingers in the blades!
Impressive!!!! 😂😂😂
would love to see how these stack up to Noctua A12x25 and F12x25; those are pretty much my gold standard for high airflow and low noise
Thanks!
Been using the AL 120 for a couple years and still love them, in the future i will probably consider a non-rgb build to update to so its a hard pick between these and those thicc phanteks ones.
The hub and the further simplification of the wiring makes this pretty attractive imo.
Yeah love the accent lighting on the frames the AL have.
I'm looking forward towards the solid-state coolers.
I really can't wait to see what corsair is coming up with for fan cable managing. The teasers are killing me lol.
Probably something exactly like the Lian-Li or another USB2 based fan that will need proprietary software and adapters.
@@pedro4205 if it means less cables I'm all for it honestly. Yeah proprietary connectors and software suck, but I've always loved the Corsair fans, just hated the cable spaghetti that comes with them. Who knows maybe they'll convert over to the JST plug at least?
I love Lian li fans and cases
Still think the Uni SL fans are the best looking of the bunch can't wait to upgrade to the 2.0 version
I like that a person can set their own spd on the fans as I don't really care for auto mode. Auto normally doesn't kick in until things get hot and then ramps up way too high. I hate that up/down ramping. I think I'd opt for med just to be on the safe side under normal PC use and high when gaming. I usually wouldn't pay attention to extra noise then especially if I'm wearing a headset. This offers a smooth transition without the ramp and IMO, keeps your PC much cooler.
Not generally a fan of crazy colors, but these are so cool. My build is pretty minimal in terms of color. It's just all black, cooler master HAF. But I could definitely utilize something like this.
I`ve recently spent over £200 on 6 sl120 v2 fans to replace my v1`s and Im happy with them but these do look pretty good
14:25 The radiator is also empty, acting as a resonance box. But yes, fans will be more whinny as they get close to objects, it is a "vacuum" effect (not enough air entering) and that's why they spin faster too when they get fully choked (less wind drag).
They keep releasing solid fans!
i was gonna go with Lian LI fans but i went with the new Phanteks D30-120 as my case is open design and you can see all 9 fans and i liked how they have covers for the screws and i think it looks cleaner for my build.
Yooooo Jay. Gonna be a good one!
Love them
These fans are definitely amazing. I can't speak for these specifically but i have the AL 120's, and 2 of them in a push config on my 240 aio cooling my 10700kf at 5.0GHZ all core. Pretty chill man, pretty chill. NTM i just sync the RGB to the mobo and its all literally perfect. no colors are different at all its so fluid.
Lian Li for the win! 👏🏽
Wow ive waited for this fans damn it!!!
Hey j try adding spacers between the fan and radiator like u showed when the fan is too close its less effective so the screws that go throu the fan into the radiator add a quarter inch spacers u will see it will make it work better and cooler!!
I have recently build a lian li mini build with 7 120mm uni v2 fans and 2 uni v2 140mm. They perform so well and the noise on full speed is noticeable but with a headset on i dont even hear them. They dont even hit full speed with everything i trow at it. For now ive played mostly gta 5,league of legends and last of us part 1 with all titels my temps dont go higher than 65c with fan speed of 1150rpm when temps are over 60c. (Ryzen 7 7700x).
Im really happy so far with the build and would definitely recommend the lian li fans and components in general
A nice stealth but still using RGB build would be those fans (black) 3x on the front top and bottom with the rgb on the inside, so it just lights up some parts but creates nice shadows over the mobo
The fans are fantastic, have them on a 7000x and a push pull configuration for a arctic freezer 3.
I like em. Thinking on using them someday in the future. Untill then I'm happy with my cheap RGB Artic boys.
I remember a few years ago having 6 scythe jumani fans in my pc case that were inti-outi for a total of nearly 340 cfm - it sounded like a frikin jet taking off but kept the pc really cool. also it was in an enclosure so very quiet.
Thanks
The customization possibilities with these fans are really great, thanks for sharing!
i love how lian li basically corrected you twice in this video while you were unpackaging lol! the cables aren't long enough....oh but the inline switch when connected gives you a nice long combined cable. but that's not gonna help when you have a single fan somewhere such as an exhaust fan....oh but this little extension works if you have fans mounted and need to drop one down as its own little exhaust fan or something. all problems solved.
thanks for breaking these down for us.
I like that! That’s sweet
These are so freakin' cool. Am happy with my T30s from Phanteks tho. My build was never intended to be particularly pretty
"noise be dammed we need to cool it down now mode". I like that. You should trademark that. lol
Hot damn, I'm in the process of prepping a build transition from my DK-04F(desk case WC builds are a pain in the ass to maintain) to a Thermaltake WP100(Inb4 ThermalFake).
Might actually wait for these fans to come out for my build as they would make cable management and fan control for my 480 rads much easier.
I literally could not hear the fan noise when you were demonstrating it because of my own fans! I desperately need this lol
lol adjust your fan curve
but honestly i like hearing my fans full blast 24/7
i paid good money for those shits
i want them cranked
more great fans from lian-li!
I like the snap together fans. I wish I could use my 1st gen with the newer gen fans. I like the lighting on the first gen 140s I have, but need to upgrade and add another rad to my system. Waiting for that to be a thing, or have it work with anther plug at least so I can just change over and reduce my wire management greatly lol.
Looks nice would like to see corsair come out with something similar
AL v2 140 HYPE!
This honestly tempts me to remove the front panel of my case and get some grills instead since I am having clearance issues.
3 more months watching Jay, and I can have a youtube channel. A lot of I don't knows, like usual.
Im just gonna wait for this for my h9 build,
So instead of clicking some slider with a mouse in settings, you can just open your case now, locate and adjust some mechanical fan control on cables at the back?
Awesome...
Darn it!! There goes my birthday money!!!
Awesomesauce video Jay/Nic/Phil!!
I'm a big fan of this
Watching a video about fans, just because it's Jay.
Hey Jay, new sub here. Just built my latest PC to be able to play some of the newer titles a bit better and came across your channel while looking for good tech channels. Loving all the content so far. As a person that just built a new computer prices on some components (especially gpus) are out of control right now. I have seen a couple episodes like the reasonably priced pc build but something I know I would be interested in would be maybe a quarterly best bang for the buck type episode where you might put some thought into your hardware recommendations for best gpu/processor/mb and other components. Maybe 2 tiers, reasonable and high end, that would be the best pick for the money? Again, loving the content, keep up the great work and thank your team as well for me :).
It's like the old Antec Tricool Case Fans but much much better
a long necessary concept of quick connect. I do like the fans that are connected at the radius edge also more stable at higher rpm. It's actually used with some vehicle radiator manufacturers, even though a vehicles cooling system works with a vectoring push and pull method... In theory of certain setups, it may be beneficial pulling air when in the long run its easier to clean when a radiators fins are similar to a filter effect, and whether a fans existing bearing subtype. Thus dust, heat & oxidation in electronics is inevitable of its degradation.
Nice competition for the bequiet! silent wings pro 4 fans
Is this a sponsored review ? It would be nice to see how they compare against other fans in real scenarios . Kudos for Noctua for focusing on what really matters (noise and efficiency) the idea of stacking fans reducing needed cables is really great though. I wish they come up with universal fan headers interface that support rgb signal as well. That will reduce the amount of cables and get rid of RGB headers.
i have 2 rads, 480mm each, and i decided to put push pull fans on them, so 16 fans total, usually i dont run them very high rpms but when my system updates they go full tilt and it sounds like a WW2 airplane doing a dive haha.
I hope that Lian Li introduces a SL120 Infinity fan range in both push and pull variants rather than just push. I have them in my Dynamic Evo case and lose most of the infinity effect. Also if the discs variant with the new fan design in this video I would change them straight away
As a itx pc lover, short cables are a huge thumbs up for me 👍👍👍
