Mahomes is absolutely carrying the chiefs. If they didn’t have him they’d be like an 8 win team. Outside of Mahomes (and Kelce, he’s not completely alone) the whole roster is average at best. If the Eagles played the entire year with Minshew they’d still have like 12 wins; their roster is stacked. That’s what mvp means to me, how much better you make your team. Also, it’s a stats award and Mahomes will probably finish first in every major passing category while Hurts won’t even be second in most things. It’s Mahomes no question to me.

I agree with the sentiment, but it is hard to argue that QB isn't the most valuable. I think that OPOTY is really the MVP for other offensive positions, and winning the MVP for them is even more valuable then it is for a QB.

Hurts has 9 fumbles and 2 lost fumbles, Mahomes 5 fumbles and 0 lost fumbles. You should count that too. And Mahomes is playing against the toughest schedule, don't forget that.

Skip's argument about Hurts changing the culture really isn't much of an argument. The team he references having gone 9-8 last season...had Hurts! He's been there 3 seasons. The reason they're winning now isn't because he all of a sudden had some magical effect on the team. It's a combination of improving roster, weak schedule, and yes an improved Jalen. But no question Mahomes is doing more with less against a tougher schedule.

The Chiefs are 11-3 and tied for the 1 Seed in their conference. Not only does Patty have more total tds despite Hurts rush tds (alot of which are gimmes from a yd or 2 out) but Patty also leads the league in passing yds and tds with an elite record, which MUCH less around him and against a MUCH harder schedule

Mahomes lost his #1 WR and is still leading the league in passing stats WITH two of the WORST tackles in the NFL (LT Orlando Brown Jr and RT Andrew Wylie are both leading in pressures given up, they are historically bad). Mahomes is MVP, no question.

Where is the burrow love, this man started 0-2 with half of his offensive starters out for half the season and went 10-4 with 31 tds 2nd in completion % 2nd in touchdowns, and 4th in yards.

Jalen Hurst is an excellent quarterback and the fact that he played with a banged up shoulder is good and I'll give him that. But what skip is failing to realize is the game where Patrick mahomes had just finished with the Titans he played in almost perfect game and he had a wrapped up hand his right hand all the way through the game. Chiefs fan here!

Since it’s already basically sworn to a QB, and trying to be an non biased chiefs fan, imo it’s Mahomes because yes the broncos game was on him, but if it wasn’t for him most of their games wouldn’t be wins due to his ability to make something happen, without him there are several wins that are losses. On the other hand I’ve been an eagles doubter this year so if minshew were to win their game then it wouldn’t help Jalens cause. I do think Jalen has played absolutely phenomenal and miles better than he has before and I’d say he’s also the second best QB this year
There’s really no arguing that mahomes is having a historic season, but this is the Most Valuable Player award. In my opinion Jalen or Justin Jefferson are more valuable to their teams success than mahomes is to his teams success

Mahomes is the MVP. He was supposed to get exposed this year because no tyreek and he’s the best QB in the league. Let’s factor in their schedules and it favors Mahomes more because hurts has had the benefit of playing a soft schedule. He’s also in a soft division. Yeah all NFC East have winning records but they opened the season with the easiest strength of schedules….. all 4 teams. I’m not taking about because of division games either. That’s only 6 of 17 games.
Until the NFL starts to value non quarterbacks again for MVP it doesn't matter who wins. There are some guys in the league whose teams would absolutely be nothing without them, Deebo Samuels comes to mind and Justin Jefferson would fit in that category. Another thing, I would like to see the NFL start giving QBs only credit for passing yards that does not include YAC, then we'll really see who has the most value.

People act like Jalen Hurts wasn’t on the 9-8 team last year. He is playing much better with a stacked deck at every position. They literally have a top 5 positional players all over the place. Mahomes has a bad defense and a really good TE with a bunch of number 3 receivers.

Before I did this research, I thought Mahomes was right behind him in the race, but now I think Mahomes is still pretty well ahead without a doubt. This is Mahomes without a top 30 WR as of right now and Kelce as his main weapon. Hurts has much better weapons and a good RB, good defense and great oline. I don't used the team's rankings in offense and defense as a clutch, just pointing this out for those who want to know. But I got Mahomes as the clear MVP as of this moment. Those "INTs" that cost him the game that Skip mentions are a clutch to debunk his greatness.
