Hey ya'll! Today on my channel we are reacting to the latest tiktok drama involving Mikayla Nogueira and a small business owner Matthew Stevens who owns a self tanner brand Illusion Bronze. Matthew recently took to Tiktok to call out Mikayla for being shady and not following through with her promises and there are definitely lessons to learn for all influencers and brands. Enjoy :)

I mean a verbal contract is a thing and legally binding in a lot of places. One thing I was wondering tho is why didn't he mention to her that he was planning on stocking up on a ton of product on her word? It's almost like he figured that either way, not mentioning his plan to her would be a win-win for him anyway because If she stuck to her word, good for business, and if she didn't, well she's a huge public figure whose reputation is already on thin ice for other things, so he'll just call her out, play the victim...then still good for business!

However, later on she admits she hasn’t had a chance to review the product. So to me she lied about even using it. And yes she didn’t tell Matthew to purchase more products, but she also made a video saying small business can’t handle the amount of business that comes there way, so he was just preparing for an onslaught of orders.
Also it seems he went to social media only after he tried to deal with Mikayla on his own.

I used to run an official social media site for a former celebrity. Her manager told me to get fan questions and she would answer them in a video "this week". This week ended up being 9 months. I had fans continuously asking me where the video was. I messaged the manager and he kept saying "tomorrow " finally I was like "I could have conceived and birth a baby in the time Ive been waiting, it's pissing the fans off and Im getting hate messages".
Well I was actually Facebook friends with the celebrity's husband. I never went to him for anything because it wasn't my place but we were at almost a year now with "tomorrow" being the answer I got every day. I messaged the husband and was like "Im sorry to bother you, but on September 6th manager said..."
I got a video call from the celebrity herself apologizing. She said that the manager never even told her about this, and she didn't know why he was stringing her fans along, and that day she had sent me the video answering the fans questions. The manager was so pissed at me for going to her. And I felt really bad and I actually got another message from her apologizing again and saying I did nothing wrong. She was very nice about it.
He actually ended up getting fired from her team a couple of months later.
So yeah I get the anxiety, of waiting for a video, and I didn't even buy any product. I can't imagine if I lost money over this like he did.

If she didn’t like the product or did not have time, she should have said so. Set hard timelines and boundaries. Mathew isn’t in the clear for that huge purchase, but that was also a response to a promise of increased traffic.

Matthew spent $10,000 on product BECAUSE of Mikayla's ability to increase sales for small businesses. Is anyone realising that Mikayla herself said that Indy Brands have sold out due to her review videos and customers had to wait for their orders? Matthew in good faith bought extra product to make sure that didn't happen to him and that his customers got their product. Mikayla is the one totally in the wrong. She strung Matthew along promising a review video and not delivering said video. Sorry but Mikayla made a promise to Matthew and failed to keep it. He was making a promise to his expected customers by having enough product that was not wrong of him. Text messages are a contract. Mikayla agreed to deliver sonething and she broke that promise. Sadly it is a harsh lesson for Matthew to learn, that not everyone is to be trusted.

To add to the Mikayla thing- she’s also been known to outright lie about things. Lashgate was a thing. So many long time makeup artists pointed out that she obviously used wispy lashes while “reviewing” a mascara, which is false marketing. She’s been caught in so many things that at some point, you gotta take off the rose colored glasses and really think and see someone for who and what they are behind their persona. Her actions have been speaking louder than her words for a while now
