    Matt. I'm in the USA. I believe I saw some clips with you over h ere. What companies porcelain did you use over here? Thanks

      It was a blend of porcelain and stoneware supplied by Highwater clays for the workshop :)

    I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Skutt wheels. I know they’ve got a pretty massive capacity, are there bigger vases in your future or just going for a smoother motor?

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 4 lety

      A bit of both really. Huge motor so I'll never have to worry about it keeping up with bigger lumps of clay. It's also very smooth, which makes it perfect for throwing my thin necks 😊

  • @deathruddlesdeathruddles5438

    Nice throwing dude! Wish I could do that! I'm a complete noob... does it have to be porcelain, ie, could you throw that with standard white body clay?

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 4 lety

      Thanks mate, yes of course. It should be a little easier with a stoneware clay, porcelain isn't as forgiving

    Love watching you do pottery. The music is wonderful and calming too. Makes me want to try it. Is there a reason most of your pottery has such a skinny mouth?

    If I may ask, what is the purpose of the blow torch? To dry out the clay? I haven't seen that before

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes exactly that, it helps dry the porcelain as I work, making it sturdier and less likely to collapse :)

      @@Matthornepottery hi Matt, how do you know when to stop heating them? Both the white 27 and b mix I was using got cracks quickly with heat gun

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 2 lety +1

      Try not to heat past the leather hard stage to avoid cracks :)
