I love and admire how you centre and stay centred throughout the whole making Matt.
Great video, as usual
Thank you
U are a person with great patience. We all appreciate your hard work . U share videos so that people learn, that's a great initiative MAY GOD BLESS YOU MORE.
The blow torch stiffens the clay because it dries it out. Not too much but just enough. Then the potter can expand the circumference of the bowl outward. It’s one technique that makes that possible.
Like Matt I also use both a hairdryer and the blow torch, don't know what I'd do without them. Allows you to stretch much further with the clay [with practice]. Thanks for the demo Matt., that's one big bowl.
Fantastic work!!
Hi Matt, I am also in the process of stretching far beyond what ever I've done before, very challenging to say the least. Your throwing is excellent MATT and I've picked up some tips from watching your videos. Thank you for sharing :)
great work and video!
like watching a thriller, especially when you see the evil dr. whobble appear
Love the music with the video, and a great lesson, thanks
Nice music. good work. so satisfying to watch :)
Beautiful throwing
This really makes me want to get back into throwing. I haven't done it since I graduated high school 2 years ago. Very pretty!

Hey beautiful work mate! What technique did you use to paint the bowl? Looks amazing
Nice vid. lighting and music. thanks. Total time transpired for this?
Matt, is there a particular reason why you'd open the pot at about the 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock direction? - 5:00 - 5:30 in the video
Wonderfull !
Hey Matt, are you using a plastic rib here? Thanks
i like the musik :) great job
Very nice,
Hi Matt. brilliant throwing. What type of clay do you use?
I mostly use Audrey Blackman Porcelain :) I have experimented with a few different white stonewares, but the porcelain works best with my glazes.
Mesmerizing, and *HOT*! Beautiful work.
Hi Matt,
Inspiring work and thanks for the great videos... wondering how many grams / kilos of clay you would use for a piece this size?
Probably around 8 or 9 but thats just a guess
@@odranfitzgerald7991 4 kilo no more for that size
Nice
Sir what is this material used
how much clay to start?
Any recommendation for firing crystalin glazes? I just bought a few to try.
+Dennis Tatu I would recommend buying the Jon Price book, which has lots of examples of firing schedules.
Research.
How to make your own white clay ?
What is the purpose of using the blowtorch?
It dries out the clay making it stiffer. I can then continue throwing without it collapsing
I am sure it has been asked and with thousands of followers I figure Matt won't be able to answer personally but does anyone know what sort of torch equipment Matt uses here? Just curious.
Hi I've had the torch for years, but pretty sure I got it from Bullfinch Gas bullfinch-gas.co.uk/blowtorches
When did you start making pottery?
You should really keep your videos real speed. I love seeing you work, but it would be nice as far as observing goes to see you do it in real time. If I want I could always speed the video up on youtube itself.
Andrew Kulzer you can also slow it down on CZcams 👍🏻 thanks for the feedback :)
I feel his pain in getting that lip to lay over!
This music reminds me of Shia Lebouf.
quiet, quiet.
If not for this video, I would never have the insight to understand what expertise is required to throw such a big, wide-mouthed bowl.
👏👏👏👏🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖
It's hot
Top view would have helped...
☀☀☀💥🎼
My teacher would throw in reverse once it got to this point try it 8:32...
Music is annoying - spoiling the nice video :)
