    It's not just that the form is beautiful. But the fact that it's porcelain makes this all the more remarkable. Your work is an inspiration

    I’m so into throwing bottles, right now. Thank you for the inspiration, and for making me wanna use a blow torch!!!!!!

    So beautiful proportions it makes me think, for the shape, of some pieces of Georges Jouve (french potter, 40's/60's) What kind of glaze will you use ?😍I've been on your insta and I've seen your outstanding crystallizations and so elegant bottle's shapes !

    Oh gosh, that lower neck is getting so narrow. I keep thinking it will just tip over or twist off. That is stunning!

    Very nice how much clay did you start out with? Fantastic shape.

      About 2 or 3lbs... I never really weigh my clay, so that's an estimate :)

    Absolutely beautiful. I am so glad to see you back making these videos. Just love to watch you work. Might I ask what your objective is in using the torch, and will it work as well on stoneware? Thanks

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 2 lety

      The torch is to dry the clay out to help it hold its shape and not collapse. It would work exactly the same for stoneware.

    my god that is an amazing form.
    Can you explain when you choose to heat gun/blowtorch the piece? I notice you continue throwing/wetting the area that you just dried, so I'm curious about that

    • @triciac1019
      @triciac1019 Před 25 dny

      It's to dry it out some so it stiffens it up a bit. It may try to collapse otherwise.

    Thank you for your videos🙏 Do you only used the torch? Or after finish you used oven? Thanks 🙏

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 10 měsíci +1

      The torch is just to dry the clay while i'm throwing, all of my pieces are fired in the kiln :)

    So beautiful! Can you tell us how many pounds of clay you used for this?

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I would guess about 2-3lbs, I don't always weigh my clay first :)

    Can I ask how thick the clay is around 2:00?

    • @Matthornepottery

      I would estimate approx 5mm, possibly thicker towards the base.

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Upside down in a thrown chuck on the wheel. I make a variety of different size chucks depending on the size of pieces I'm working on :)
