This duel is weird, because it basically has 3 different opponents, depending on what version you experience it through.
-In the Manga Yugi duels a ventriloquist who has a Kaiba doll and constantly mocks Kaiba.
-In the original dub the opponent is just a master of disguise, who can copy anyones appearance and voice (he even copies Pegasus for a bit after he is revealed).
-And in the 4Kids dub he is Kaiba's evil side brought back as a ghost.
Also another difference in the manga is that there is no "Kaiba hacks into the mainframe to put a virus into Blue Eyes" stuff. Instead that second Blue Eyes just randomly decides not to obey the ventriloquist and self-destructs.
Things you never knew on childhood in the early 2000s that's trippin out now.
Every version of the duel is weird in its own way.
Explains the activation of yugis eye. Activating in response to the monsters ideals. Later realizing it’s kaibas spirit monster… also in the past if everything parallels with the present did kaiba kill a 4th blue eyes because it wouldn’t join his monster line-up? 🤔
Well the blue eyes that didn't attack makes sense in its own way later in the series as you realise what blue eyes is to kaiba
Blue-Eyes not obeying the ventriloquist might be a reference to Kaiba's first use of Blue-Eyes in the pre-Duelist Kingdom manga, where it refused to follow Kaiba's demands since it was Solomon Muto's copy that he stole.
I like the complete lack of context in this behind why the second Blue-Eyes suddenly melts and gets destroyed.
Ah yes, the episode in which Kaiba commits an act of cyber terrorism in order to help Yugi win a card game.

In the manga there is no hacking, the blue eyes voluntarily refuse to attack and self-destruct after Kaiba wakes up from his Coma.
It's interesting how more stuff actually happened in this duel compared to previous ones, there was some back and forth. I would expect them to become longer as we get nearer the end of each season, but then some duels just have a lot more talking/padding. Some of the facial expressions are quite amusing when that's all you're given, no lines.

The lack of talking makes that last little clip that much more poignant, since you still know what Yugi says.

@@TheBloccobill I never tried the actual card game, can you not do that? Because, I mean, the manga writer is the one who decides the rules. If you can't do that in the real game, the game is the one who got it incorrect, not the anime.
@@theoverseer1775 Mirror Force is a Counter Trap, normal traps like Negate Attack cannot be used after them until the current sequence of cards is resolved.
Mirror Force is a Normal Trap, but as it already negates attacks I'm not sure you could chain Negate Attack to it
...ignoring the fact that you cannot use Negate Attack to negate your own attack, as it must be triggered when an opponent monster attacks
though, Negate Attack is a Counter Trap
@@mistashadow Mirror Force doesn't negate attacks. However, on top of not being allowed to chain Negate Attack to your own attack, I'm pretty sure that the activation of Mirror Force goes outside Negate Attack's timing so it couldn't be activated.
Interesting to see it from this POV and how Yami really has no clue what's going on with the duel arena being hacked. That shot at 2:55 was really wow in that context

-No, he still would have won. After Feral Imp is destroyed, the clown wouldn't have needed to summon the lizard thing, so he ends his turn. On Yugi's turn, he puts Celtic Guardian in defense, the Blue-Eyes destroys it, next turn he plays Mystical Elf, Magic Formula, and Mirror Force, the clown summons the second Blue-Eyes and attacks Mystic Elf, Yugi plays Mirror Force, Negate Attack blocks it and ends the Battle Phase. Next turn, Yugi uses Monster Reborn, summons Blue-Eyes, and uses Mystical Elf's effect to boost its ATK and attack for game.-

The slow reveal of blue-eyes at 0:45 is cold af with no talking
Just like at real card game events in Japan, no one talks, everyone is on their phone, you play one card and the person your playing with gets up and moved to another table and vice versa.
Besides the weird powerup from the mystical elf that was actually a pretty straight up duel.
In the first season the book equip card has additional hidden effects , like when plays it again Joey and says " now that the dark magician has the book , can trigger his most secret powers " and this let him become the dark sage after joey uses the time magician
Duelist of the Roses decided to give Mystical Elf that power in that game based on this, I think. Except she buffs up all Light monsters, herself included. Works great with any Light focused deck, and it’s great for powering up a Blue Eyes too.
Also in reshef of destruction, but that card is too much costly to be used for real
Somehow, this is even funnier than the abridged series.

Ok. Did the duel arena platform Yugi was standing on just get blown back by Blue-eyes attack? I know the duelists sometimes get thrown backwards by "holograms", but this? It'd actually be kinda cool if that was a feature in the arena itself, but I don't remember seeing it before

looking back it really so much stuff in the anime that cant be used in the real card game, like summoning blue eyes without tribute, some spell card was a trap card in the anime and vice versa, and using negate attack to negate mirror force. If u say u wanna play the actual game by watching the anime especially the first season its gonna be rough

I always loved how broken Kaibas Deck was with the Duelist Kingdom ruleset. If you dont Cheat (like being Yami Yugi with the "i draw the card i need" Stuff, Pegasus with the Milllenium Eye or Kaiba hacking the servers so Blue Eyes attack fails) or have an instant win like Exodia there is 0 chance you win :P

@@SacredBlazeXxX Yes, the fact that he is so much bigger than the Kaiba disguise is probably the reason 4kids changed it.
I don't even know why the anime did this, because in the manga Yugi duels against a Ventriloquist who has a Kaiba doll instead.
@@JackOfenThey changed it because it's implied he murders him after the duel, and they found no way to add "I can see his parachute, he's okay" to the end of the episode so they made him okay to kill instead.
The doll was dumb because it's weird Yami even believed it was actually Kaiba, so I prefer the sub version over the manga.
It still very much annoys me that Kaiba is able to slap down a Blue Eyes White Dragon without ANY tributes... still great work though im loving this series
At least in anime canon, the tribute rule was established as a Battle City rule by Kaiba, so it does make sense why it's not a thing in Duelist Kingdom.
