I hated how Kaiba kept doubling down on being a douche even at the very end. In Duelist Kingdom he admitted that the Heart of The Cards was real and that it worked, although he then said he still had to do things the way he knew best, but it was a real piece of character development that they just threw away.

Then he would hear a voice speaking to him, the voice is Ra, it tells him that he is it's masters now and if he so wishes, it will lend it's power to him and help him read the text on the card.

    • @AngelKnightZeo713
      @AngelKnightZeo713 Před 5 měsíci +1

That wouldn't work since Marik, Ishizu, & Atem all stated throughout Battle City that those connected through Egypt and the Millennium Items can use the God cards. Seto Kaiba *thought* he controlled Obelisk due to his skill but it was actually due to his Ancient Egypt heritage. Since Marik died in this hypothetical (wished it would've happened legit but that's for another day), the *only* way for Joey to learn the chant is through Ra itself- b/c Joey fought Ra via a Dark Game and won, Joey earned a bit of Ra's respect. Since the 3 Gods are sentient in their own right (Ishizu & Shadi say as much in the manga while Marik witnesses Ra's anger several times via the fake card copies with Odion being the final straw), it wouldn't surprise anyone if Ra taught Joey the chant while he was in his comatose state simply out of respect for Joey's willpower.

Ra, seeing the defeat of its previous wielder, along with the shear will power to survive an egyption god's wrath, gives Joey its favor; a small piece of its power, allowing him to be reborn, such as a phoenix. Also because Joey would be brought back like this, he could gain the ability to read Ra's card text, or atleast enough to understand the summoning chant.

The way I see the Yugi/Joey duel going down is a fierce back and forth with multiple lead changes. Joey succeeds in summoning Jinzo, Insect Queen, and Legendary Fisherman only to as you said sacrifice them to summon Ra. From here on out Ra is an insurmountable wall for Yugi. Monster after monster are destroyed on Yugis side, yet he manages to get out both Obelisk and Slifer (albeit at different times) through all the plays he used to get Slifer on the field, Yugis hand is pretty depleted and Slifer can’t stand up to Ra. Obelisk is also no match, especially after Joey managed to block Obelisks two tribute nuke attack. Finally Yugi is able to play Ragnarok just like he did in the duel with Marik. Ra goes down and Joey is beaten. Afterward, Joey makes a comment along the lines of “I should’ve known better than to challenge the king of games” he’s friendly as usual but you can tell he’s upset with himself for failing to win, even with an Egyptian God card. To which Atem replies “Joey your journey to where you are now has been nothing short of remarkable. You defeated Marik in a shadow game, You earned the trust and respect of an Egyptian God, and after all that it took every monster in my deck to defeat you. You truly are the most powerful duelist I’ve ever met.” Joey with a resolute look on his face stands up and hands Yugi the Winged Dragon of Ra. “Ya know Yoog when you put it that way, I don’t feel so bad, but what I want now, is to see if I can beat rich boy and his pet Blue Eyes.” He turns to face Kaiba, as his arch nemesis activates his duel disk. Yugi calls out. “Joey you’ll need this.” And throws a card to Joey. He turns it over slowly to reveal the Red Eyes Black Dragon.

Joey was meant to represent us, the viewers of the anime.
This is shown by him being the one character in the anime that had to learn to play the game as opposed to the other characters like Yugi who was familiar with game.
He has more growth in the show compared to any other side character. Marik represented the challenge us as the players would have to face at some point playing the card game. Sometimes we will be outmatched by an opponent (Marik’s god card being his overwealming strength) but Joey winning here against Marik after going so far in the duel would have shown that even when backed against the wall, in Yu-Gi-oh there is always a chance to win with what you have.
Should he have beat Marik he would’ve gone on to face Yugi and likely beat him representing us, the players, taking the game into our own hands as we do today with the many different variations of decks. It would’ve been a great way to end the show.
(Disclaimer: this is not my idea, just one from a very clever CZcamsr who covered the same subject, video title: “why battle city is the peak of Yu-Gi-Oh”)

A shadow game between Aigami and Joey, where life points are also memories (Aigami erases Joey's memories in the movie) then Joey draws his cards and remember his battles and his friends, like drawing Red eyes, Jinzo and such, then with the memory of his battle against Marik he draws Ra and summons it. Then as others said in their comments, Ra obeys Joey out of respect for him, then maybe in the other turn Aigami gets rid out of Ra and makes a board full of monsters ready to finish Joey on the next turn, but with his memory of little Yugi, he draw Time wizard, summons it and after using its effect attacks for game. Maybe like it sends all cards on the field to the GY at a very heavy cost and then summons OG Gearfried from the Hand, Deck or GY, and could allow you to banish it to search for a Phoenix Gearfried and summon it that turn via banishing the OG.
And this could ultimately make it so Phoenix Gearfried makes some sense as an evolution to Gearfried. In his moments before death, he defied the Phoenix God, to then be blessed with its gift of reincarnation. Just like how Joey did in this scenario

I think that, if Joey had won, Yami Marik and the Millennium Rod would have found their way into Joey's possession and hijacked him. Instead of repeating when Joey was brainwashed though, Joey actively fights from within and throws out moves that help Yugi. This leaves an opening for Ra to be summoned properly, and Joey being fully aware of Marik's control this time around would change up the theme compared to when he was brainwashed. Joey's chance cards would even serve as the means to help Yugi, such as using Time Wizard and losing the toss or if Yami Marik sets Graceful Dice and Joey activates it early to throw a wrench in Marik's play.

      @theendersmirk5851 Před 11 měsíci +3

Okay, I've actually thought this through, and I've had an idea for a sequence of events that earns Joey the win. First, context, Joey does a Ra summon as indicated in the original comment, but, he had Owner Seal set facedown, so as per Battle City rules he played it directly after Yugi did the summoning chant to snag it back. He already used Graverobber to snag Red Eyes from Yugi's graveyard. He has one trap that is a reference to him IRL but that I don't think he ever actually played, and he has one cards on the field still: Gearfried.
So, he just got Ra back, but due to one reason or another with all the trading shenanigans, it has 0 attack. Somehow or other, Yugi has the other two god cards on the field already, hence his wanting to snag Ra for the finisher, so Joey plays a single spell card: Polymerization, fusion the Winged Dragon of Ra with Gearfried the iron knight, making a figure which looks a bit like it's wearing a golden version of the Lord of Red armor from the later season. Its effect, in anime tradition, is exactly what Joey needs, somehow allowing him to attack and destroy both Egyptian Gods (although this can leave him at, like, 2100 LP as a cost). But then, after the battle phase due to the god immunity being an effect on this sun god Gearfried, the fusion splits into Ra and Gearfried, with Ra still at 0. Joey comments on this being an issue, but then smirks, and says "guess I'll just have to borrow a page out of Kaiba's book." He then sacrifices god and Gearfried to summon Red Eyes Black Dragon. He then sets one trap card facedown. Yugi's turn, he begins burning through his hand now that Slifer is no longer on the field, and quickly summons out both Dark Magician and Dark Magician girl, planning to go for his signature win now that Joey only has 100 LP, by hitting over Red Eyes using Dark Magician. Everyone is reacting as if Joey has already lost, when suddenly: he reveals the trap card Red Eyes Fang with Chain. He then comments he was planning on using its first effect to whittle down Yugi's remaining life points faster, but then shrugs "good thing its second effect is just right for this occasion. By sending this card equipped to my Red Eyes to the graveyard, I can equip one opposing monster to the monster it is equipped to, and my Red Eyes's attack points become equal to the equipped monster's. And I chose" he points "Your Dark Magician, canceling your attack." (Disclaimer, dunno if the second effect would count as a quick effect IRL, but screw it, this is the anime, it counts since it's badass.) The Dark Magician gets pulled up onto Red Eyes's back, and then Yugi doesn't attack anything else since his Dark Magician Girl is too weak to beat over Dark Magician without a buff, and Dark Magician is on the field rather than in the graveyard. Yugi also lacks any non brick cards by now, so he ends his turn. Joey's turn, he draws one, it doesn't matter what he draws, as he just attacks the Dark Magician Girl using his Red Eyes, dealing exactly enough LP to bring Yugi to 0, winning him the duel.

The best anime Tournaments usually involve crazy stuff going on behind the scenes of the big fights (battle city did have a fair amount of that with the Rare Hunters plots), and Marik having to try and continue his scheme from a position of weakness, out of the bracket AND without his God Card, has a lot of potential. He still has the souls of Good Marik and Mai as hostages, he has the Pharoh's secret tatooed on his back, and he has multiple Millennium items with the potential to acquire more while everyone is occupied with Yugi and Kaiba's duel. With those chips to play I think he could find ways to manipulate the finals, twisting something that should be about friendship into something horrifically antagonistic. I could easily imagine Marik manipulating the boy's duel into a no-win scenario, perhaps where Joey's victory would allow all the trapped souls to go free (he could even hunt down a few more to add into the bargain, like Ishizu, Serenity, Tristan, even Kaiba) but create some terrible consequence for the world at large via the Millennium Items. Joey is left to fight for the lives of the innocent lives in front of him while Atem has to face the temptation of sacrificing those people for the greater good.

Oh you had that idea too heh. Ran this idea a few times in the last couple of years wondering what it would've been like had Evil Marik somehow survived after Joey won and twist the final outcome into as you said, from friendship into something horrifically antagonistic.
Like a part 2/grand finale to the duel at the docks against a possessed Joey, and the only way out of it this time is through some extremely clever maneuvering by Yami Yugi done throughout the span of an episode or two while weathering assaults from Joey's High Risk High Reward playstyle, Jinzo making traps useless, and a powered-up Winged Dragon of Ra on the field. All the while Joey hoping Yugi will find a way but has to keep going less they both lose everything.
Though I am curious to figure out what kind of leverage Yami Marik can use to force Yami Yugi's compliance on the path of 'sacrificing others for the greater good' seeing as he only has two Millennium Items on his being at the time, that being the Rod and the Ring.

Here's a what if idea: What if Bakura won against Yami Marik? In both the manga and the anime, Marik was unaware of the point-to-point transfer effect of Ra, since the Millenium Rod didn't impart this information, thus leading Bakura to send it to the grave for Yami Marik to recover it with Monster Reborn. Had they known, how would it have changed the duel? If not a what if, it could make for a "Could Bakura have Won?" video.
Another: What if Kaiba fell for Ishizu's trap? Had the Millenium Rod not interveined and given Kaiba the vision to tribute Obelisk for Blue-Eyes, how would Ishizu fare for the rest of Battle City? How would the 4 way duel go? Does Ishizu go on to duel Yugi or Marik?

Let's head back to 9:45 , where joey summons the 3 ace monsters he gains from the tournament and got Ra in his hand (or just drew it), I think that everyone would be here to see the duel, and when joey would doubt using it, he will be possessed by Marik using the small part that's still in tea plus the help of the millenium rod, which didn't dissapear like the millenium ring of Yami Bakura.
Marik would tell Joey the secrets of Ra and maybe the secrets of the pharaoh's memory as a token of gratitude for destroying his evil half before faiding away.

I don’t know if Marik & Yami Marik would’ve lost their souls together. We’ve seen on occasion Yugi being trapped. Thing about Yugi & Atem is, they are two separate souls sharing one body despite them looking so similar. Hence why Yugi sacrificing himself to save Atem from getting trapped by the Seal of Orichalcos works.
But IIRC, Yami Marik is merely an alter ego of the real Marik Ishtar, and hence they are really the same soul. However, because the real Marik is considered the "dominant half" by his alter ego, if the real Marik Ishtar dies, so does Yami Marik. But the reverse need not be true.

I can't accept it." And then Joey would say "Don't sweat it. This was the whole reason I entered the tournament to begin with. I have no use for it, but you definitely need it."

I do think if Joey won that duel against Marik and waited to face his friend Yugi(or if you want to use the name Atem if you want) I do think Joey would successfully summon Ra but it would be in its sphere form as a way to test Joey if he is worthy of its powers if he could recite the chant. I think during the duel the millennium rod would activate and help Joey. Imho I think the 3 monsters Joey would use to sacrifice to summon Ra is Panther Warrior, Axe Raider and Gearfried The Iron Knight and Ra would have 5500 atk and 4350 def. If Joey won against Marik and when Yugi beats Kaiba, I bet Kaiba would be really mad and embarrassed Joey gone to the finals in his own tournament and he lost against Yugi in the semifinals.

Interesting point about the God Cards is that they all belong to people with a degree of darkness to them. All 3 God-wielding finalists (Atem, Marik and Kaiba) crave power, sometimes with little regard for the consequences. Joey has none of that. He's a very pure hearted character. He's not nearly as ambitious as the other 3 finalists and that's one more reason why I think Ra would accept him and let him wield the power of a God: Power should be given to those who do not crave it. For that reason it would have also been fun if Joey had used Ra in a very creative way not to destroy, but to protect, heal or restore something during the duel.

With Gx in mind Obelisk does make sense as the strongest dorm and slifer the weakest.
All three egyptian god cards are powerful but they have very specific situations to be powerful.
Slyfer needs cards in the owner's hand. This is something we heavily see in the duelest from that dorm. They often top deck or make arguably simple plays mostly using their hand.
Ra is next and it's strength comes from the board. Monsters tributed for it, and the player's life points are where the majority of it's power comes from. We specifically see this alot with Bastian but also with other Ra yellow characters that more complex strategies using the board state occur.
Obelisk is always 4000 attack points. It honestly doesn’t matter where it is. It is always strong unlike the other two. Throughout the series multiple Obelisk students use their hands, fields and graveyards and in Zane's case even the banish zone.
We also see the progression of these play styles in the cast always in this order. Mind you many Obelisk student's in Jaden's year arguably should have (initially) been in Slyfer or at most Ra... gender and money really weakened that house.

I had this idea myself before, although it went a bit differently to yours. In my version, after Joey wins the duel against Yami Marik, Yami Marik freaks out because he wasn't expecting his plan to fail before he reached the Pharaoh, and this combined with the effects of the shadow game weakens his hold over Marik's body, allowing regular Marik to fight back from the inside. Yugi and Ishizu use their millenium items to seal away Yami Marik forever and rescue regular Marik. The exertion from the duel causes Joey to collapse and he is taken to the medical bay to recover.
The second semi-final duel is Yami Yugi vs Kaiba as in canon. Yami Yugi is a bit more relaxed about the duel because the goal of defeating Marik has already been achieved, but Kaiba is still as driven as ever in his goal to defeat Yugi and become the King of Games, which Kaiba manages to do. Yugi congratulates Kaiba on his victory, hands over Slifer and warns him not to underestimate Joey in the final. Kaiba is a little disappointed to have defeated Yugi early and be facing Joey in the final, but he does welcome the opportunity to humiliate Joey on a global stage and prove once and for all that he is a third rate duelist with a fourth rate deck. Kaiba is confident that he will win, and considers the duel to be nothing more than a formality. Kaiba doesn't try to take the millenium puzzle because he isn't interested in gathering them, which is just as well because that would make things awkward with Yugi and Yami Yugi being separated.
Before the next duel, Marik goes to the medical bay to visit Joey, who is now conscious again and resting to gain his strength back. Marik hands over Ra and the millenium rod to Joey, and Joey briefly pretends to have been taken over by an evil spirit when he touches the rod as a joke. The commotion wakes up Odion, who notices Marik is back to his old self again. Ishizu joins her brothers as Marik tells Odion the story of how Joey defeated him, and the Ishtars have a happy tearful reunion. Joey feels a little awkward and asks if he should step out for a moment to let them have their moment, but Ishizu says that won't be necessary because he rescued Marik and has given the family a chance at a new beginning. The Ishtars thank Joey and tell him they will be forever in his debt.
The third place duel between Yugi and Marik takes place. Because it's just for fun and there are no stakes, Yami Yugi sits this one out and regular Yugi duels instead. Marik uses a variant on Strings' slime deck, but not focused on Slifer and building up the hand size. Yugi wins the duel, but they both have fun and Marik befriends Yugi and his friends for real this time, no Namu disguise.
The final duel takes place between Joey and Kaiba. At the climax of the duel, Kaiba summons both of his Egyptian Gods, expecting Joey to summon Ra so Kaiba can counter it with Slifer's ATK reduction effect, then destroy it with Obelisk. Joey gets his three Battle City monsters on the field and considers summoning Ra, but he realises Kaiba will be expecting that and tributes them to summon Gilford the Lightning instead, destroying the Gods and letting him attack for game, with Joey taking the opportunity to gloat a bit as he finally gets one over on Kaiba, who has spent years mocking and belittling him.
Losing the Battle City final to Joey of all people, after he'd set up this whole tournament to gain powerful cards and stroke his ego is too much for Kaiba and he has a full-on meltdown. He throws Obelisk at Joey's feet and storms off. Kaiba doesn't want anyone seeing him with tears in his eyes, not even Mokuba. Despite winning the tournament, Joey isn't quite as thrilled as he expected to be, and feels guilty for his earlier gloating, worried that he went too far. "I never thought I'd say this, but I feel bad for Kaiba." Joey can't simply give Obelisk back to Kaiba, because he would be far too proud to accept it or be pitied by anyone, so Joey comes up with a plan to give the card back while massaging Kaiba's ego. Later, as the airship is taking everyone home, Joey leaves Obelisk somewhere Kaiba will find it, then goes near Kaiba's quarters, and loudly acts as if he's lost Obelisk. Once Joey has left, Kaiba finds Obelisk and thinks to himself "A reckless fool like Wheeler can't be trusted with something as powerful as this. I'll take it back and defeat him with it! Watch out Wheeler, I will take back my title and my honour!" Afterwards, he smiles as he knows Joey didn't really lose the card, and recognizes deep down what really happened. Kaiba acknowledges that Wheeler isn't totally incompetent as a duelist, and decides to be a little nicer to him from now on - but only a little.

Could make him summoning Ra a pretty intense moment even beyond using Insect Queen, Jinzo, and Legendary Fisherman to summon it. Like have Ishizu before the match warn him against trying to use it, thinking he might end up like Odion did for using the counterfeit version. Make it so he can't actually read it, but he was there when Marik recited the incantation so when pushed back against the wall by Yugi he goes for another gamble and tries to summon it. Maybe even have Yugi trying to convince him to not try summoning it, making it look like Ra's about to strike him down during it mid incantation. You know, lots of lightning, maybe a tornado or two starting up. Then a massive pillar of fire around him that screams, "Yeah, he's dead for trying that". And to everyone's surprise, it fades and you see Ra on Joey's side of the field. With the implication that it wasn't just him beating Marik that made Ra obey him. It was being completely fearless in the face of the threat of Ra smiting him that made Ra decide he was worthy of wielding it.

Joey vs Marik is and will always be my favorite duel of all Yugioh anime. It has everything. The tension, the pacing, the ingenuity. When I watched it for the first time I was so pissed that Marik won (even though by some stroke of luck he even almost lost against Mai... yup, Marik is that overconfident). Kaiba would be so mad, although I think his respect for Joey's dueling skills would increase enormously(and we would get a Ra Riffraff in GX instead of Slifer Slacker :D). The biggest reason I think that Joey deserved to win is that he is the only duelist who fought against Marik that withstood an attack from Ra (as far as I can recall from memory, Yugi evaded attack damage from Ra with spells and traps) and was still standing. But then Yugi would have been in Joey's shadow, cause he defeated the big bad. He would have completed his trial of Red Eyes and be worth of that card again. I wanted to see a Winged baby dragon of Ra evolving into a God by the effect of Time Wizard, or some other comical asspull.
But the biggest reason for it, even though I am speaking from the future, is cause we could have gotten a Brooklyn text version of the original Winged Dragon of Ra in the Legendary Collection 4: Joey's World(the one without the effect that's banned):
    Da Wingd Dwagon O' Raaawh
Da spiritz sing of a powerful creature o'er all thats mystic. Nyeeeah
And we didn't get it, so sad 😢

The way I imagine it is that Joey stays standing just long enough to see Marik's life points hit zero as he's impaled by Gearfried's iron blade. The moment he's confirmed the winner, he collapses. Mokuba notices he isn't breathing, but just before he's taken out to be put in a medbay, Kaiba takes the Winged Dragon of Ra from Marik's duel disk and places it in Joey's hand, saying something along the lines of "A card like this belongs to a true duelist." as he finally acknowledges the person he looked down on most out of the competitors.
Then, as he walks away, a roar is heard. Ra reappears in Immortal Phoenix form and envelops Joey's body in divine flames. After all, what's the phoenix most known for, aside from coming back to life?
When the flames subside, Joey wakes up on his feet, the Egyptian God Card in his hand, and everyone around him staring in shock and relief.
Marik is the one who wakes up during the duel between Yugi and Kaiba, his darker half taken by the shadow game. When he realizes what happened, he thanks Joey for defeating his other self and apologizes profusely for the time he mind-controlled him into dueling his best friend to the death. The little he can offer to make up for it is to tell him all of the Winged Dragon of Ra's effects and the chant so he can actually use his new god card in his duel against Yugi in the finals. He'd also probably try to give him the Millennium Rod but Joey would turn that down very fast, saying to just give it to Yugi after the Tournament. Same with the Ring.

As far as summoning Ra, I can imagine Yami Yugi coaching Joey through the summoning chant, out of the respect and friendship they have for each other. At the same time, Ra could acknowledge that Joey survived the full fury of his attack in addition to winning him from Marik, and respect Joey enough to let him play the card.
But I also wonder how much of Marik would survive the Shadow Game. There was still a fragment of him in Tea; would that have been swallowed by the shadows too. For that matter would the Shadow Game have taken Marik's body just like it did Yami Bakura when they dueled? Would that leave that fragment of Marik in Tea, at best?

The dynamic between Joey and Kaiba IS different in the original after Battle City. Examples include Kaiba taking the call during the Doma arc even knowing it was Joey, catching soulless joey when Tristan drops him when they are attacked by rats (interestingly, this is cut in the dub), and inviting him to the KC grand prix. He still has attitude toward him, sure, but the dynamic is undeniably different.
TBH I think it might be worth the research to do a video showing the evolution of the dynamic between Kaiba and Joey in the original Japanese. Kaiba used to call him "Uma no hone" (bone of a horse // someone not worth anything") then graduated him to "bonkotsu" (ordinary person) after watching him take his duel disk off before jumping to save Yugi in their duel to the death. Joey remains "bonkotsu" for the rest of the series, but internally, as stated in this video, Kaiba finally recognizes him as a true duelist after the duel with Marik.
Also, I think it's implied Joey wins the offscreen duel against Yugi after Battle City because he has Red Eyes back in the Doma arc. Original Japanese Joey wanted to beat Yugi to win it back and I don't think he would have had it other way (it was literally himswhole motivation, aside from Mai, which the dub went out of its way to conceal (relegating him to a sidekick instead). So in this alternate timeline I think Joey wins here too.

  • @joshuaponder1775

I'll be brutally honest, as cool as that would be for Joey to use Ra. I don't think he'd use it mainly because it wouldn't go well with his deck.
My reasoning behind this is that: 1.) To my knowledge, Joey doesn't have a way to bring out the Winged Dragon of Ra, or the three monsters to sacrifice out onto the field fast enough. The only way I could see him bringing out the Winged Dragon of Ra is by discarding it because of an effect, or by using Foolish Burial to send it to the graveyard and using Monster Reborn to bring it back later like Yami Marik always does. I mean Yugi has the magnet warriors and Face Knights, and Kaiba has his XYZ monsters as well as Soul Exchange, but Joey doesn't have any cards that lets summon multiple monsters at a time, and Scapegoat doesn't count in this situation because they can't be tribute summoned. There is that one spell card...I can't recall it's name sorry... that Joey had used during his duel against Yugi's Grandpa at the KC Grand Prix that lets him bring out all the Landstars, but I don't think he has that spell card or any of the other landstars in his deck at the time of battle city, just the swordsman.
2.) Half of Joey's spells and trap cards are gamble cards, and he doesn't have roll of fate in his deck either.
3.) Joey also already has Gilford The Lightning which can destroy all monsters by sacrificing the same number of monsters as the Winged Dragon of Ra does, and he doesn't have to pay life points for gilford's effect to destroy all monsters, but Ra requires him to pay 1000 life points to destroy just one monster. Joey also has a easier chance summon out Gilford than Ra because he has access to cards that support warrior type monsters.
Edit: I'm not saying that he couldn't have it in his deck as a back up plan, but the odds of him getting to be able to use it in a Duel aren't in his favor.

I see a little thing in the duel of the Zaizen´s vs AI. In the way the duel was write; the brothers could win if only:
    - Akira activated "Marincess Decission" before attack with "Tindangle Hound" and summon "Tindangle Accute Cereberus" before any attack declaration.
    - Akira attacked at the first place with both, "Tindangle Hound" or "Tindangle Accute Cerberus" but both on the field, then he has to attack "@Ignister Fire Phoenix" at the first place ussing the secondary effect of "Marincess Decission" (Pandor knew about Achichi and Fire Phoenix's combination of effects after their duel with AI.)
    - Make AI triggers "Achichi @Ignister" effect to make the destruction of "@Ignister Fire phoenix" an effect destruction
    - Use the GY effect of "Marincess Basilalima" to prevent a destruction and boost the monster that not attacked in that momment for 600.
    - Attack AI for 600 more ATK and if not being defeated in that momment, the AI Lp´s would be that low that Blue Maiden could defeat him with burn in the last turn.
Obviously, if that was the case, AI could just pull of some random burn tech and win anyways, and i think if Akira don´t summon Accute Cereberus at first place is because he wanted to give to AI a second chance to stop the duel.

I'm late to the party here, so there's a chance somebody already said this, but a few things I wanted to note regarding Joey being able to Summon Ra:
    - Mai didn't know the chant, but she was the first of the Finalists to attempt to Summon Ra during the finals. And during that same Duel, Joey, Kaiba and Yugi all witnessed Marik saying the chant, and Kaiba began researching the chant the moment Marik revealed it was on the card. Considering Joey's investment in defeating Marik, Yugi and the Pharaoh both discovering their connections to the Gods, and Kaiba's newfound mutual respect for Joey (Kaiba did go out of his way to gift Yugi an extra card despite his resentment for losing Obelisk), I think it's pretty fair to assume Joey would've been able to recite the chant somehow.
    - As a follow-up to the chant bit, though the concept of Duel Spirits wasn't really spelled out until GX, Duel Monsters still planted seeds both before and after the Battle City Finals regarding that the monsters and their spirits are real. Furthermore, in the two seasons of Duel Monsters that follow Battle City, Joey speaks to Duel Spirits directly and indirectly multiple times during Season 4, and in the ancient past of Season 5, they establish that only chosen individuals even know the names of the Egyptian Gods. Now obviously Atem knows the Gods by name due to his time in the "future", but because of how that statement was worded, the implication seems to be that the names of the Gods is unknown EXCEPT to those chosen by the Gods, implying they communicated with these chosen ones somehow, which is how they are able to Summon them. With all of this in mind, Ra itself would also be able to communicate with Joey, informing him of the chant (Blue-Eyes was also able to communicate with Kaiba). Not only that, but this particular method of communication would also allow him to know the updated TRUE chant (the chant differs between Marik and Atem when they Summon Ra).
    - And lastly, though this does require foresight, if Jaden Yuki is worthy enough to wield the Winged Dragon of Ra, then Joey Wheeler DEFINITELY is as well. He's more than familiar with Shadow Magic, he got attacked by Ra twice and lived to tell about it, he defeated Ra's previous wielder in combat, and Joey would later go on to be chosen by one of the Legendary Dragons, which Kaiba famously said were comparable to the Gods. I have no doubts that Joey, despite having no ties to the ancient past, would've been deemed worthy enough to wield a God Card.

    Here's a scenario I would have liked to have seen;
In the final season Yami Marik comes back and teams up with Zorc to stop Yami Yugi, and during a run in with Yugi tried to stop him from learning Yami's name. To buy his friends time and save Tristen, Joey challenges Yami Marika to a rematch to settle the score. This time however Marik doesn't hold back since he knows he was WAY too close before and Joey is more determined than ever to beat Marik (since it was Marik's actions that drove Mai to join Doma). Joey ultimately beats Marik in his most spectacular win in the series.
Meanwhile Kaiba duels Aknadin after Kisara fused her life-force to the former to save Priest Seto, thus redeeming Kaiba's lose to the millennium eye back in Duelist Kingdom.
Ultimately it would have given both Joey and Kaiba fitting final duels for the series since the ones they got were rather lacklustre and the honour of beating Atem has to go to Yugi.

I think Joey posthumously getting Ra would prompt Ra to do something about the whole dying/coma situation. It is, after all, an egyptian god card. Most interesting possible outcome as a result of this, I think would be Ra being able to bring Joey back but only at a great cost of some kind, deal with the devil style. Joey would have to agree to some shady terms that could be resolved later and conveniently prevent revival from becoming an easy plot device going forward. Similarly, part of this deal could include Ra giving Joey the means to summon him, or making the summoning conditions easier for the non-egyptian wielder as a result of having earned the card.
