Hiking BLENCATHRA from Mungrisdale - Amazing Lake District Walks

- Hiking the incredible Blencathra on a 11 mile hike, starting from Mungrisdale! We want to complete all 214 Wainwright Fells, so our plan today was also to complete four other fells on this route, including Souther Fell, Mungrisdale Common, Bannerdale Crags and Bowscale Fell!

We set off up Blencathera at 06.30 last Saturday in perfect weather using Halls Fell - what a brilliant climb up that is. I was supposed to be doing Sharp Edge for a 5th time but it was packed with people going over, so we left it till the kids go back to school and the holidays are over. Good to see you got a clear summit (we didn't), as the views are amazing from there, which it is one of my favourite Fells, especially with some many different routes to the summit. Long walk but well deserved treat at the end, cheers Alan

That was some hike! Where do you get your energy from? Like you we rejected Sharp edge though I think if we were guided we would have a go. Scales Tarn is a special place too and worth a visit. Those rolling hills look a little challenging to hike!!! But the view is amazing
This was a lovely hike with beautiful views from the mountain tops. There are 214 in all in this area for you to hike? That is quite the task to undertake. But I am sure it will be worth it for views like this! Thanks for taking us along.
