- Please ignore the typo on the intro - should be 'Scafell' not 'Scarfell'.
Beginning at Seathwaite, Abbie heads out to scale Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, during the heatwave of 2018. They ascend via the Corridor Route and not for the first time finds themselves speechless at the beauty around them. From the summit they form a circuit by venturing into the boulder fields of Broad Crag and along the rocky platform to Great End, before heading north and back down to the car via Grains Gill. Expect vast Lakeland views, sunny skies, parched waterways and a whole lot of adventure on this day walk in the Lake District National Park! Whats not to love?!

Stay WILD!
I completed this walk today. After watching this video in June I felt inspired. It was physically the hardest thing I’ve done. We were in cloud all day and got to the car wet through and exhausted. But what an achievement! Thank you for your inspiration.
Well done! Doing this in September, how long is the walk there and back?
@@shak5006 the corridor route described in the video approx 6hrs to the top. a shorter router is the Wasdale route which apparently is about 3 hrs to the top
@@xElite00 😅
We need more people in the world like you abbie.
Absolutely tremendous.
I’ve smiled along with you - every step of the way. At nearly 80 I’m probably past experiencing this sort of trek , but I still love the wild places and get out among them when I can. Thanks so much for sharing your pleasure - I’m off to research your other videos now!
Absolutely love Abbie's videos, soo enthusiastically upbeat, positive, well edited and always delivered with that beautiful infectious smile. A real tonic for the soul !
Wow, what a complement! Thank you! So glad you enjoy the videos!
Well said Eric I have only just found Abbies channel and can't stop watching her adventures. Especially the Lake District ones, it reminds me of when I was in England and went there.
Thanks again Abbie. Freedom & self-reliance. What an inspiration you are!
Thanks for watching!!
I just happened upon this amazing young lady and she sure is an inspiration to all who love walking the outdoor trails. I’m a beginner at 61 but sure would love to do this. Thanks Abby, and God bless you
Our thanks goes to you Abbie for taking the time to share your thoughts and feelings with us all. Your positivity rubs off on all of us and speaking for myself i feel privileged to watch your videos. Its a thumbs up and a big smilie from me.
Thanks Paul! Thats so great!!
I climbed that route about 6 years ago and all of the places you passed like the pack horse bridge and stuff I remembered vividly. I tracked back through my pics in my phone and sure enough there they were. It’s strange how images of landscape stick in your mind. Great video.
Exactly why I moved to the lakes and lived there for 4 years, doing all 4 rounds of the Wainwright's 852 tops plus other lower ones and many of them multiple times but your reasons to be there echo most hikers... Well done
Thanks Abbie - I watched this while in lockdown and it just reminded me just how beautiful it is up there - it's lovely to see your smile grow bigger and bigger as you travel up the mountain - I know exactly how you feel. I'll definitey do this route next time I'm up that way and the weather is good. You are an inspration.
Love the way your legs talk. Being in the landscape is awesome. Thanks for another great trail.
I did Scarfell back in 2007 and went the route you said your glad you hadn't gone. The false summit and the deep valley before the final climb to the summit was so heartbreaking. But very worthwhile once we got to the summit.
Love your enthusiasm for the great outdoors. Your commentary is outstanding. 👍👍👍😊😊
So glad you enjoy the videos! Great to share the adventure :)
You said those words right its where i belong. We are blessed with so many places to walk whether lowlands and uplands we have some stunning scenery. Thanks for sharing.
Yet another great account of another iconic route - inspirational. Thank-you!
You are like having an injection of inspiration enabling me to try and do things that I thought I couldn't. Absolutely tremendous film. Your thoughts words and even deeds are truley great. What a walk. Never done this one. Enjoyed being along with you. Thanks a million.
Another wonderful video. Having completed the route myself many times in all sort of conditions I can honestly say you sum up the emotions perfectly. I have said before you truly are an inspiration to everyone. Thoroughly enjoy all your videos. Thank you.
Hi. May i know how much time it took u for the whole hike?
Superb video which brought back memories. I did Scafell a couple of years ago and it was one of the toughest things I had done both mentally and physically. I knew I had achieved something but seeing your video has just reminded me of the enormity of my achievement. So glad I watched it. Amazing Abbie!
Simply beautiful and inspirational. 🥰
Abbie i have just started watching you, what can i say. You do not need inspirational quotes! You could clearly see how much you was enjoying the amazing views.
You are inspirational just being you.
It is written all over your face how much you enjoy being Outdoors.
I have to agree the buzz is second to none! You have put me on to the West highland way, thats a route i will be doing. Keep up the good work Abbie 👍 Stay wild
incredible video. thanks for the route idea, and thank you for the enthusiasm. the entirety of the video you had a smile on your face, and that really reflects how the lake district makes me feel!!!!
The crystal waters are an inspiration , thank you Abbie.
We have just started walking in The Lake District, 7 peaks done with plenty more to do. This is the first of your videos that I have watched, such an inspiration to get out there and do much more. Thank you
Thanks Abbie for taking us along on this Beautiful day, you are an Inspiration to so many of us, Take Care, Les.
Thanks for the encouragement! Keeps me going :)
Thank you ABBIE
Abbie you had me hooked!!! i really enjoyed watching your journey, very inspiring,. me and my husband just did Mount Snowdon and Scafel Pike is next. Thank you for sharing your experience. This should be your vocation in life, your a great presenter!
It was great to see the walk done with no mist or low clouds as I have done in the past amazing scenery, I was unlucky last April to get Covid which left me very ill and unable to walk over half mile, however like you say never give up and I can now walk 4miles without feeling dead. I watch your videos and I got to say Abbie they are inspirational to those who struggle to get back on their feet, your information of the walk is interesting and informative. I watch your videos to keep me sane and know that I will be back on those hills again. My aim next year is for the Offa’s Dyke at 174miles I have a bit more training to do yet. Please keep these videos going as you make walking look enjoyable and not an uphill slog cheers to you Abbie.
love it, done a hike in the Lake District. love Abbie, she is so joyful in explaining .
love her, love the hike, beautiful country side.
Thankyou for sharing your journey. You're amazing person. I visit Lakes district with my other half at begin of August 2021 and we love the Lakes the beauty of the landscape it was a amazing. We went up The Great Mell Fell, Hallin Fell and Catbells Fell. I did want to climb scarf Fell Pike but didnot have the nerves to do may be next time , you have gave me courage to try next time I am back up the Lakes. Thankyou again.
That was so satisfying to watch. You do such a great job at your video diaries, and I really felt like I was almost there walking along with you 🙂.
We are planning on Scafell this coming Summer and you have shown us a very helpful insight on routes to take and helpful hints. Thanks Abbie and keep making these walks, they’re breath taking 😀👍🏼
Great post Abbie. Such a stunning area on a truly beautiful day. Many thanks.
Wow, as you say, only by being there can one experience the frankly sacred, giddy euphoria of the Lake District Mountains. Thank you though for evoking that sense of wonder, this exile is already route-planning for a return home soon.
I have only recently discovered your channel and have to say you make great content. You are genuine and a very likeable person, which makes viewing your videos a real pleasure. Thank you
Top, Top quality video, superbly shot. It's not easy, walking on scree and shooting and talking all at the same time, but to also make it look easy, that takes some doing. Wonderful comments about climbing your own mountains, setting yourself a challenge. As for inspiring others to get out and explore, I can totally relate to that. It doesn't matter whether it is a mountain or a hill, if it presents a challenge that you can overcome then it is worth it. And for those that genuinely cannot do it, for whatever reason, well what better than to spend half an hour enjoying the wonderful scenery and suberb commentary that accompanies it. Inspirational in every sense.
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing Abbie.
Like the mountain, Abby is a breath of fresh air.
Amazing and inspiring!!
Those views! So many places to pull the kettle out and have coffee.
Thanks for sharing this amazing walk.
So true! Except I probably wouldnt have made it to the top if I stopped as often as I would have liked for coffee hahaha!
Thanks for taking me to the summit of Scafell Pike.... I've not been up there for some 40 years... 😃👍 it's not changed much.... although perhaps a bit more popular these days. My old dad and me linked up summits to get to Great Gable.. and while at the summit of that the cloud descended in a sudden and we couldn't see our hands in front of our faces. It was almost dark before we worked out how to get down safely.... and we were met by mountain rescue coming up to find us as we were reported missing... 😄 luckily they hadnt come too far as we were almost back at camp. I think this is in my bucket list to do again. So beautiful around there.
Thanks Abbie
Best wishes...... Steve.
Loved it! Just the reminder I needed of what’s awaiting me when we can get back out there 😊
Loved this video. Great energy, loads of good vibes. Thanks for the detailed route up!
Brilliant and well presented Abbie ,as usual. We were with you all the way. Sca fell is next on my list🌄.
Well done Abbie 👏😊🙏
I loved your video! I camped in the Lake District 15 years ago and did several routes, including Scafell. It worked as an anti depressant for me, the walking (alone) and being outdoors all the time. I understood your need to share with loved ones! My legs were killing me after 5 days of climbing but I blame that on being Dutch (flat country😉).
What a stunning landscape! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for coming along!
Awesome inspiring vid Abbie! When I go out in the wild it's always the forest, one day I hope to go somewhere in the mountains, so beautiful and peaceful!
This is already video four I have been watching in the last couple of days, about your adventures in the Lakes.
I do really enjoy them, think the will put a smile on many peoples faces!!!! will be in the Lakes myself late October for a week, hopefully I will have some good weather aswell.
Tomorrow's walk Abbie and watched this video for guidance.
When you pulled out the Kendal mint cake i remembered i had one hidden away😂.
Taking it back to its birthplace to be devoured.
You did well to get conditions like this. Not always this good, stunning views ! I have done this walk, yes it is tough, but rewarding when you get to the summit. Excellent quality of video footage !
Love your videos. Amazing and smiley
Another wonderful video Abbie, you are such an enthusiastic and eloquent ambassador for the great British countryside. I can almost feel the crunch of the stones under my boots and the gentle edge of the breeze on my face in watching this. Well done. A real uplift for the spirit 👍
Hi Abbie, I have climbed this four times with my cat and dog keeping me company. I visit the Lake District every six weeks undertaking 214 Wainwright fells in 36 walks. Loving your videos.
Cat?
Love your videos Abbie, and more importantly my 3 year old daughter loves watching them with me and its giving her a real interest in getting out which is great for me as I love it.
I enjoy your kit reports, Abbie. But this? This captures the essence -- the why. Thank you.
What a lovely comment, thank you Gary!
Excellent video. I work in what can be a fairly stressful work role. Prior to going to work this am this has been a real taste of what I love.
Thanks for bringing this to me today
Looking forward to giving this route a go once the weather gets a little nicer 😊
Loved this video, we climbed this same route (up and down) several years ago for our first ascent of Scafell Pike and the corridor route was so special at every point, but especially the view along the adjacent valley, the views from the top, in all directions and the relief on my knees of finally making it down to the car 🤣
We just used a map an compass and the route from the first tarn isn’t so obvious unless you are looking for if. We also climbed on a gorgeous sunny day, although it did rain as we reached the summit, but it didn’t dampen our spirits.
Hi Abbie! Just started investigating through your channel. I been in the Lake District in 2019 for the first time and I love it! Scafell Pike was only next point on my 3 days rout but yes, amazing place! Effort worth absolutelly! But I have a feeling I had biggest backpack on the way through lol. I done in 3 days just under 60km in the mountains and even planed my rout before-I have to say- little mistakes. First day was obsolutely exhausting. I was so far in the mountains and get back to the car wasn't great idea, so only way was just keep going. Of course couple of wrong turns on the map compare to the reality didn't make me happy lol but in the middle of the wild you need make some decisions. Snapped my walking poles in 90 degrees in first day, scratched my phone, camping in the wild and SPACE! Love this place. Take care, Tom.
Loving your videos Abbie. Really keen to give these walks a go.
Exceptionally good video. Brings back memories for which I thank you.
Super!
Love your videos x a real inspiration . I'm doing this route today and it's because of you . 🤓💪✌
What a tremendous video Abbie, Gradually working my way through your playlists and feeling inspired to do the South Downs Way as a result!
Great and informative video - thank you..
Found your channel yesterday. We did this route in September and boy was it hard work (both aged 56 and fairly fit but it was hard going). We went up and down via the same route which meant negotiating the 'bad step' twice, didn't like that at all but we did it! There and back took us over 7 hours as my toes were absolutely killing on the way down (now bought some new slightly larger boots after that experience!) Will be watching a lot more of your videos for some tips as we are planning on doing the Three Peaks next year - over 2 weeks, though!!
Great video. Lakes are always wonderful, despite the crowds.
What a wonderfully inspiring video Abbie. I know fell walking and happy people go hand in hand and you are certainly no exception. I climbed up your descent from the Pike and yes, not easy at all. Very enjoyable 👍👍
Nice one on your summit! Respect to you tacking on that climb!! Cheers for watching. Stay WILD!
Thank you Ronald
💯👌 no words.🤝♥️
Brilliant Abbie. This brings back memories for me. I did this almost identical walk a few years ago (I visited the summit of Great End, but didn't go past Sprinkling Tarn).

Great video. Inspirational.
Well done Abbie I can’t wait to attempt it myself
Love your videos Abbie , so enthusiastic. I'm going to do the Corridor route from Seathwaite this Summer. Some 50 odd years since I was last up Scafell Pike.

Good clear video. Did Corridor route four days ago, there was cloud around the Pike and it was getting late so had to abort after five hours hiking.
Well done. I loved this video. I done scafell a couple years ago and loved it. I took pics but I wish I had taken video after watching your as it's lovely to remember it all.
