- We went to Stockley Bridge near Seathwaite Farm to pay our respects to Helen's wonderful mother.
We ended up hiking Scafell Pike via the corridor route. We loved it but were suffering for days after!!

Hay-up, thank you for doing that walk for my Wife and I because there's no bloody way I could do what you two have just done. Love to you both. Xx

I feel exhausted just watching that video..
Big hugs Helen..losing your mum is so painful.. ❤..xx

My son gets e climbing up hills. It absolutely crazes me! I'm a year off 70 and he has not a clue how it jiggers my back up! Hats off to you two fitties! Thank you for your lovely videos.
Thank you 😊
Brought a tear to my eye Helen ❤ lost me gran 2019 dad last year n me mum last month. Took dads and my grandmas ashes to the great orm in Llandudno to be with me grandad and uncle. Lots of love Helen xxx James kudos to you, you looked chuffed at the summit ok the pike! Absolutely fantastic. Dont wanna interfere but it might be any idea to carry afew more tactical items doing the more higher terrains ❤ id hate for you to fall or miss judge footing etc. X
We are so sorry to hear that. Hope you are okay ❤
Your both bloody fantastic well done I don’t it 42 years ago with a 56 pound backpack never again 😂😂
Since I've had my half-time orange and a tad more, there's no way I could do that. It's beautiful. Thank you hugely for taking us all with you. Well done lovely people. 🍺🍷😊
You are so welcome!
Brought back many fond memories, I was a regular hiker in that area some 40 years ago and have camped in the Borrowdale valley so many times. Ill health stops me now , so you two have been my eyes , apart from some of the tracks been built up with stones its same as it ever was . Cheers
You're welcome, we love it there
Wow what a great walk! Respect to Helen doing that, then getting up for work the next morning. These days if I do a long, hard walk like that It impacts my next couple of days (my hangovers are the same!) I'm totally knackered!, must be a sign of getting older. Hats off to the both of you. I had some of those sticks James, used em once then ended up just stored in the boot of my car, I also found they made things harder than a help.👣👣
It's extra weight to carry an a total waste of time
If we needed things like STICKS we would of evolved them on to our wrists
Absolutely!
My eyes light up every time I see your notification. Another great video but by the end I felt your pain. I’ve done it myself in the past up Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons. cracking video as always guys!! …. Smithy
Thanks Smithy
What can I say, James this channel is working you really connected with the audience, Helen lot of loving thoughts were with you at the bridge ❤.
Be proud you both are lovely people.
Thank you 😊
Made me laugh when you said the "chit chat stops towads the end of the walk", spot on is that 😆
Another fantastic video, thank you! I am a Yorkshireman in my 50's and have been living in Cornwall for 27 years, but the lakes are my favourite place. I hiked up Helvellyn alone in the winter of 2002 when all the mountains were snow covered. It was amazing. I have taken my Cornish partner and kids there a few times and they love it too. I went on several school trips in the 80's and always stayed at Patterdale YHA. These were the best times of my life. I also used to ride up there many times in the summer on my motorbike with friends in the 90's.
Happy days 😊
Glad you are doing the Lakes. Incredible we have that amazing place. If your joints and blisters trouble you, just tell yourself you are taking one for the team...
Ahh bless you Helen, your mum would and is proud of you x great vid guys thnx for sharing x
I'm sort of house bound ish, due to heart disease and a cardiac arrest not long ago, but I do enjoy hiking vlogs, reminds me of what I used to be capable of, I'm only 58 lol , thank you for the upload 👍😀
Hi guys, yes I love to watch u both hiking. But I can’t do it anymore as I’ve got arthritis in most of my joints. I never go out the house these days. But u did amazing James well done to both of ya xx ❤
Same 😢
OMG Helen is like a mountain goat she makes it look so easy but its bloody hard been up there when I was about 30 years old amazing views as I am 60 today was lovely you sharing this video I am in Cumbria at the moment at Cockermouth but my climbing days are over at the moment at Gin distillery doing some Gin testing near Keswick you did so well James getting up there well done..
My son got me lost up a welsh mountain. I slid down to the river in the valley on my bum through the ferns. I was drenched to the skin. We were lost with the mountain ponies. My foot went into a rut on ground level and jarred my old knee. I hobbled back to the car about a mile or so away. Never again will I trust his guidance along routes!
Blimey that looked steep in parts! If I did that I'd never recover well done you two that's an achievment❤
Thank you
Brilliant video guys, keep it up and good health to you two,Helen's mum will be watching xx

I so admire you both for hiking like this. I'm fubarred sadly. Damaged spine and knees so I could never hope to do this or view there so your videos are brilliant. You and Helen are so good together on video and your interaction is infectious. Thanks for bringing some proper enjoyment to youtube. Bessy regs- Kenny
Thanks Kenny
Thanks for posting this video, it brought back memories of when my wife and I did the same route some years ago. I remember feeling the same when we finished the hike. Probably not able to do it now so thanks again for the memories.

Fantastic vid guys ,the views are absolutely breathtaking ,it's like you both taking us all for a an adventerous hike ,love the vids ,you both have shining personalities 👍👍
Our pleasure!
I did the same route, though some years ago now. Well done guys, excellent hike and video.
Thank you
The mist shrouded mountains, the hills, the waterfalls, stunning doesn't do it justice, I would describe this amazing part of Britain as 'savagely beautiful' it's as if the area has its own consciousness which must be respected by us mere humans at all times as we are granted access to it. Thank you for taking us with you, and thank you Helen for sharing such a personal moment with us as you refelcted on your Mum, my heart goes out to you, I, and many others I suspect, have lost a parent or both parents, and life is never the same again....I'm looking forward to sharing many more adventures with you both, take care and all the best!
Thank you so much. Such a lovely comment 🙂❤
You just reminded me of my lovely Dad .
He always used to say
"It's really black ova Bill's muvas "
Helen was a mountain goat in a previous life.
Thanks for sharing this adventure. I'm physically challenged these days, so I have trouble climbing stairs !!
The more you vlog, the more I wish you could do travel vlogs.( At the risk of repeating myself )
Helen is full of info, and your banter is infectious.
Love it, and you both.
Janice 👵 xxx
Be proud James - wow what a finish!
So very glad you found each other x
Thanks Janice 😊
Well done guys. I love hiking but I’ve only done Scafell Pike once as I really didn’t enjoy it. It was a proper mental/frustrating challenge for me. Did it as the 2nd peak of national 3 peaks challenge many moons ago! Keep up the good vids guys 👍🏻
Thank you both for another great video xx
Our pleasure!
Wow what a video guys awesome scenery... just googled it .. think ill head for there soon....... respects to helen s mum ❤
Aww what a lovely place . Well said about Helen always so happy and pleasant to be around. Well done both of you for the lovely blog ❤❤
Loved this one. Well done both.
Wow guys that was brilliant. I did the same walk a few years ago & didn’t make it to the top, I got to Sprinkling Tarn & then back down Grains Gill. That downhill is a killer on the legs. I remember well the feeling of desperation to be back at my car haha. Done a few “thank god I’m still alive” hikes 😅
Thanks. It's hard to explain how hard that route back is. My legs were stiff for days after
Thanks for a brilliant video of a brilliant walk - well done both of you!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Well done on your hike...Can't beat it...Makes u feel alive..
It really does 😊
Fab video , thank you 🥰 love watching you two. Real decent people, funny too 😁❤️❤️xx

"it's not getting any nearer Helen" that comment did it for me 😂

Thank you 🙂
Really enjoyable video James. Your camera work is Excellent. Thank you both
Thank you
I walked up Scafell pike 50 years ago when i was fifteen and as fit as a butchers dog and my legs are still aching, good on you both for getting to the end of the walk without giving up.
😂😂
Hi Big Man i loved this one , i am nearly 70 now and have been waiting on two knee replacements for a few years now and would love to do this walk , i think i may make it up but think it would be too much strain on my knees getting back down , I always think my own country of Scotland is beautiful but this was also worth seeing , Thank you to you and Helen once again , loved this so much thank you both ....
Great vlog guys, ì done most of the walks in the lakes it's easy in your youth but it certainly gets a lot harder as you get older.i didn't fancy the drive back though.
What an achievement, You should be proud, That's not just a walk in the park (excuse the pun) Perfect choice of word in the title, Mentalist, Well done the pair of you 😉👌
Thank you 😊
Hi James & Helen, I'm very late to the 'By The Curb' party but getting a bit obsessed with your brilliant Vlogs 😃...
Going through some old ones and this one touched my heart, it was very emotional to watch but so very well done.
I lost my mum 20 years ago my son was only 4 months old as you can imagine it was hell on earth and to this day I feel so sad at times but a few words of comfort.
I know if I'm smiling my mum is too, she'll be looking down on me enjoy life to the fullest with amazing people that make a positive difference to me.
Just like you Helen 🕊️
Keep smiling and enjoy every single moment ❤️ ☺️
Sorry a bit deep but it really touched me and I know grieving is a painful process.
Also I absolutely LOVE the Lakes been going for 25 years, to Ambleside and surrounding areas, stunninggggg views everywhere, it's a place that takes my breath away.
Love & hugs Claire 🤗 🍻
Thank you so much Claire, such a lovely comment, I've just sent a screenshot to Helen as she will really appreciate it. She misses her mum so much xx
🤗❤
Thank you for taking us with you over the fells loved it take care God bless Tom and Rosie in Westmoreland.
Our pleasure!
Loved it glad i never had to do it though thanks for bringing us along 👌👌👌👌👌 Well done 👏👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it
What an amazing woman Helen is and you did really well to reach your van alive! Lol. I’ve just subscribed.
Ay up. Another great video. I go hiking all the time but still love watching others do it too. The monsal trail is a nice walk for miles on the flat mainly, unless you go up to monsal head. Even then its a 'stroll to the corner shop' up to scafell pike. You two are great. I watch all your videos 😊❤
Thank you, glad you like
Areeet peeps, thanks for this one, just had a nightmare bike ride over Pennines and totally forgot how to do extreme stuff. This vid has helped my recovery❤
Nice one!
Great video brings back memories of the walks me and my late gf did in the lakes😊
Love all your videos!
Wow what a climb, well done to both of you. Helen you are an absolute machine, must be so fit and can't believe you can do all of that with a dodgy hip... what a star! I love the mix of hikes and social on your videos. You need to do a hiking gear review, I love all Helen's coats/waterproofs etc and rucksack plus cover.
Blimey what a fantastic view ❤❤ great vid as always guys xx
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely to see your video - we did it the day after you (assuming it was last Monday). Great achievement but my god it’s a killer. Done it twice now and that’s it - never again
Yes it was last Monday
When you go down hill try planting your heel first this helps with the pain. I’ve been on that walk in 2004 this was so incredible I felt like I was there again. Loved this video.
Epic hike. Loved this and hearing the deep breathing made me feel like I was there! Helen is of course amazing. I would have worried about the dark clouds, worried about my legs, worried about work the next day.....this video says just go out there and bloomin' Do It! Thanks
Thanks, glad you liked it. Definitely just get out there and do it!!
Fair play. I'd need air-lifted to the pub after that!!
What a lovely Stroll through the mountains 😂 , absolutely beautiful… if I was only listening I’d wonder what you pair are up too 😂
😂😂
Hay-up, did Scafell Pike back in June 1996 with my dad. We stayed at The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in Langdale, we did a different route to you. The weather was a lot better. For us it was 4 hours up and 3 hours down, a great hike. Great video of you both. God bless and keep well. Xx
Enjoyed the walk guys thanks, beautiful views. Helen has some stamina hardly out of puff unlike some😮💨, probably give a mountain goat a damn good race. Just like you say James some can't do these walks and climbs myself included so it's good to see the countryside, the views and of course listen to your banter. Very enjoyable👌
Thanks, I always think of my parents who love the outdoors and nature but unfortunately can't do the walks
Great vid , amazing views . Brought a tear to my eye on Stockley Bridge . The chemistry between you two is amazing . You should do a chat show 😂
Thanks Jason 😊
Brilliant you made my back hurt more just watching you xx
Well done guys. Great video, warts n all. It's a beautiful hike which I havent done for quite a few years , now you've made me want to revisit. I'm 73 but think I'm 23 and whilst the spirits willing I'm trying hard not to admit that the old bones ain't what they used to be. Went up Ben Lawyer a Scottish Munro, couple of years before the covid thing, thought my legs were going to fall off by time I'd scrambled back down.
As for the waterproofs, mine stay in the bag until it's too late so by time I put them on I'm usually drenched. Any way, thanks for the video, great fun (from my armchair)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
James. Get up the mountain and get down again, any way you see fit. You both did it - that’s what matters and it’s more than most do. I hope the PlayStation generation are inspired to get out there. Although FIFA 23 has its place for sure 😊
I hope so
Really enjoyed watching this! Well done guys
Great video, looked hard work, id struggle with that but you did it! well done, lovely place
Thank you
Aw Helen, bless you. Sending you a hug. 🤗 Oh James, better than Southend any day eh? I can't believe you tackled this. Filming, walking with the poles, trying to keep up with Helen (no chance). There wasn't really time for whinging was there, too out of breath. Hats off to you both. Looked proper dangerous. YOU DID IT! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
😂😂Thank you
Great vlog as always so wish I could do the walks I can't walk very far at all knees don't work so it's a pleasure to watch stay safe.
Terrific video! Really enjoyed it.
James, regarding the walking poles.....I climbed up Snowdon with them and they were a bloody nuisance. Didn't stop me sliding down on my bottom as we began the descent.. And one of the poles nearly had my eye out as I tried to stop the slide. At the same time, my favourite Ian Poulter baseball cap flew off and floated away down to a field of grazing sheep. I like to think one of them might have took to wearing it. Thanks both for another great video!
Ayeup ,FairPlay you two good video, rip Helen’s mam❤️
