They wouldn’t give her a mortgage, so she’s like “Ok watch this. I’ll spend all the money you didn’t want from me (probably 1/3 of what they would have taken from her in fees, principal, etc) and own my own home in less than a year.”
Mic drop!
😂
I know. It's time lending institutions start recognizing alternate forms of dwelling as permanent homes! Hats off to this young lady for not letting it stop her!

I've been studying this in Britain, New Zealand and Australia, it's a good lifestyle, will get into it when the lease (noose) run-out and partner walks the other way. Thank you for posting❤❤❤❤❤ 6:47
She is such a delightful person with her constant little bits of laughter, standing and jumping on her bed, and giving a tour that also includes jumping and reaching to show the height of the boat! Her children must find it magical to have their very own bunks on a boat! I am very impressed by the life she chose and the cost she was able to build it with. A wonderful video!
Quite expensive to run. There's plenty of space for more solar panels. Just get more battery capacity. A large power station would be a good investment instead of spending money on diesel

What a wonderful and refreshing young lady. Congratulations for creating a soulful environment for you and your children. Good for you Jen. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Lovely lady and a lovely life. We did this for 4 years. Narrowboat and widebeam. The best 4 years of our lives....Magical.

She seems like such a kind and humble person who appreciates her lovely home on the water. Looks so amazing on the inside! Awesome job! Love her.....
The husband must have been a fool to let her get away.
She got a stunning home for under £100,000! Fair play. It’s gorgeous.
you could buy a farm in Lincolnshire for that.
She's pretty gorgeous too.❤❤😍
@@newton18311unfortunately I find that difficult to believe, This summer i was talking to a gentleman from Yorkshire on holiday with inlaws at their "retirement cottage" which was transported there on the back of a lorry complete and in my eyes a "portacabin" with painted on brickwork all for £300,000! He got in Yorkshire for the same money 3 bedroom 3 garage and many acres of land and was horrified that they couldn't see it was a PORTACABIN
@@newton18311 wow could u
Down south can't even get a flat for that price. I had to live on boat or be homeless
No. She bought a boat.
This is not a narrow boat, this is a house in the water....what a lovely boat...!!!!
Indeed, it's not a narrowboat. It's too wide to fit in most of the canals in the UK. Worth the trade off though. Wider boats are more stable in the water. Narrowboats rock from side to side easily.
@@tonyhawk123I like the rocking motion 😁
"Widebeam" would be the correct terminology, as opposed to narrowboat.

That's impressive, you should do a bus conversion, seen a tiny house bus before looked ao cool

You should post videos!
@@yukayarnori I get lost in the work, and forget about filming. I've tried before, but all I got was some timelapse footage.
A box fan blowing the hot air from the stove down the hallway towards the bedrooms would solve the cold issue, plus you need ventilation and heat in all areas to prevent mold. People would argue the fan is too cold in the winter, but when there’s heat being blown from the hot stove it isn’t cold. I found that out when I had baseboard heating, my box fan was running and the heat circulated around my apartment very quickly. Another tip is to use slow cookers in the winter as they kick out an amazing amount of heat into a small area when you’re making homemade soups and stews etc.
Would this work? czcams.com/video/KyiUpFjwtlU/video.html
Sorry but your comment is null and avoid as you are MANSPLAINING..................
Get another stove for the bedroom.
Don’t forget that anything that runs down the generator or other fuel very quickly is a no, unless you’re paying for a residential mooring ( rare and expensive) with a hook up.
You can make a generator really quiet on the water run the exhaust down in the water like the others
You mean you can still burn coal somewhere in the world😮😮😮 shes pretty 😍

She is just delightful. Lovely lass. Much appreciate the video! Best wishes to her on her travels.
I love everything about her and her houseboat! What a simple, debt free, stress free life…
I love this boat. Much larger than a tiny house and fully equipped. The kitchen is huge. Congrats!!!
Agreed
I love it as well but the location gives me the heebies. I don't know anything about the area she is living in but something equivalent in the U.S. would have roving bands of homeless and miscreants camping around. I wouldn't feel safe without multiple guard dogs, weapons, and perhaps a locked dock area separate from the road.
@@teesmith501 I’ve moored on the Grand Union many, many times. Yes, you’re right, it can be risky. There are some strange characters on the canal. I wouldn’t want to be moored up alone. Rubbish can be an issue, as can vandalism. You have to approach getting a narrow boat very carefully. Much better as weekend retreats out of town, than full time homes. Especially with kids. You’re moored on a public right of way - most people use the towpaths to walk their dogs and go for a stroll, but you need to be on the alert.
Jen is such a lovely, nice and wonderful lady, who is also multi-talented, imaginative and enterprising too. She has made the boat into a lovely, cosy, homely and marvellous place to live. Well done and total credit to her. 👏 I wish her and her family, all the very best. 🤞❤️😊
How beautiful! The boat is certainly a reflection of her tranquility and serene beauty. I admire her courage and determination to make this dream come to life for her and her children. It’s certainly a childhood experience that they will cherish. A positive attitude is a must when forging a very different lifestyle and she has that in spades! Thank you for sharing! ♥️
What a glorious young lady, I wish her all the best in life.
Modern independent woman , bringing up 2 young children , on a beautiful houseboat, no TV , PERFECT, love it
she said "we" so i believe she has a boyfriend or husband so nothing modern or independent about her ....those are liberal words ...she is a wonderful mother and wife or girlfriend with help from a man ..they work together as they should for the kids....and that is awesome
Whilst charming, she actually said 'when the kids are with me', indicating that she is a single mother with shared access.
Maybe the money used to build/convert the boat was part of a divorce settlement.
Maybe just another sad relationship breakup story for the children, due to the lies of Feminism. Maybe...

She’s living the dream off grid! Taking it to the greedy energy suppliers. Really nice decor and the stove is so cool. Hardwood flooring too! So creative with the space as well making it feel more spacious. Bet it’s super cozy during the winter.
Everything is gorgeous. When we lived in England, we spent as much time as possible renting longboats. There's such a beautiful camaraderie on the rivers. I adored it. You've designed and built the perfect vessel. That you enjoy it is so obvious.

Very stunning canal boat. It's very well decorated and you can definitely see that it has a woman's touch to the home. This is a really nice boat that has a well thought out floorplan. I really like the openness of the boat. Thanks for the tour.
What a great canal boat you built, Jen, she is gorgeous!! I've lived on a 43 ft. Viking aft cabin for 13 years now, and it's amazing how little you need to live aboard. Good on ya Jen, for discovering this lifestyle!!

Yes I got totally distracted cause she’s not only beautiful in the traditional sense but more importantly she’s extremely attractive. Next time best to get an ugly male guide like me so people concentrate on your video 😂😂
What a fab home, well done . It isn't as cheap as some people think living the boat life .
I sold my 3 bed house 18 months ago (only me all alone lol ) and was going to buy a (used) boat . anything I have ever bought i always thoroughly research first, running cost of a boat are a lot more than the 2 bed apartment I eventually opted for, even though it was very dated being a handyman/painter and decorator I fully refurbished it , using expensive fixtures and spent £10k including all new furniture (kitchen is only 5 cabinets but was over £3k with everything else ) . my apartment is 35 years old and part of an over 55`s complex of 25 units it was up for £30k+, I offered £35k cash it was much much cheaper than a boat lol
The lady is wonderful. Knowledgeable and enjoying her home.
Good luck, lady.
That’s a nice cosy and comfortable looking home. It was a breath of fresh air with this lovely lady telling us all about her boat and showing us around it.
Except it's too cold in the winter. Better heating system required
in the summer it looks like paradise, but through the winter the boat is cold and condensation is a constant worry, i lived on a canal boat on the grand union for two years, and waking up in winter with the outside temperature at --10C / 14F, and the inside temperature was --5C / 23F, with as she said ice on the inside of the windows, is not so much fun. and yes, it was fully insulated, but with half the boat sitting in cold water you find the insulation doesn't help.
Yes, books, clothes and soft furnishings can get damp.
And mooring is becoming increasingly impossible - much more bureaucratic on the canals than it used to be… we continually cruised, too. Wardens used to turn a blind eye to you staying in one place for a while, but now they’re hot on your trail.
Beautiful in the Summer, but cold overnight in the Winter, and moorings near shops and facilities are increasingly hard to find.
Barney used to be our coal man on the Grand Union - dropping off our coal as he came through on his traditional working barge.
You have to be pretty reliant on having some knowledge of boat mechanics, and be prepared to cycle or walk everywhere.
Most canal boats are FAR narrower than this wide beam!
A beautiful looking boat. So well thought out.
I wonder how she manages to continuously cruise and get the kids to the same school - that must be a big issue…
I think she said 32km a year, roughly 20 miles would be a challenge
What a beautiful lady❤

She's a lovely person and her boat is gorgeous! Good for her. I think I'd have had underfloor heating if that was an option. I know from mates who've lived on boats for periods they can get very cold in winter!

What an interesting lady and very courageous. It reminds me of seeing the boat on the Norfolk Broads. Those boats on the broads are mainly used for touring
Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful boat. I have lived aboard a semi trad narrowboat for fourteen years , but feel I'm getting too old now, finding things hard work. A fantastic job you are doing Jen.
My narrowboat build lists includes a heating coil around the chimney of the stove that would pump water around underfloor heating. Heat the entire boat with the stove.
Why am I not surprised that Jen is a massage therapist and Yoga teacher..??
She is a total radiation of peace and joy with such a calming soul and aura..can literally feel it through the screen here 😊
Ice on the inside of the windows. That takes me back. What a delightful lady. I wonder what will happen when the children get a little older. Their bedrooms seem a trifle small for teenagers.
you have a very nice craft. i have an ocean-going trawler taught myself and am very happy with my life also, I just feel living on a boat is simply another way of life you either hate it or love it

With such a big roof space you could have a gutter to collect rainwater, pass it through a simple filter and use it for the washing machine. Maybe a small everhot heater for your bedroom too. We have one, its great. Lovely boat.
How much does it cost for your everhot i would like one but with the cost of electricity
Gutters would effect the width in the locks I would think.

Fantastic boat! I would suggest attaching a water tank to the burner which is hooked up to the radiators, that way the boat will get some heat when the burner is going. It probably won't be a huge amount of heat but it would certainly keep the chill off in the winter.

My first time seeing these boats. What an amazing way to live life.. just amazing ❤
This is amazing. I would love to live this way. Beautiful home.
You're much better off running a small generator in winter to reduce the hours you're putting on your engine.
Engines are designed to run - they need to be run to keep the lubrication moving through the seals and gaskets and parts. Leaving engines sitting for long periods actually does more damage than running them and keeping them well maintained with regular fluid and filter changes.
Awww, Jen comes across as a fun charming person! Boat is lovely too. :)
