Yikes, the Michigan team forgot they are representing a country and a state, and decides to be a scum in a Solar Car race... Big uuff
Very self centered mode of thought. The one place to make sure not to act like scum is on a global stage.. smh
Thats the course for Xichigan forever it seems. They have always had low moral standards.
Hope that driver was punched in the face
That was a sneaky move by their driver really disgraceful
Yeah. Climate change loses to consumerism every day. That's apparent in everything. Why are there strategists and teams? Why is this a race? Why do all these educated people believe technology can reconcile us to nature? We believe these fallacies because myths are presented as realities. The myth of currency; the myth of the race. In a perfect world, humanity abandons technology and our current economic structure; the cost just too massive to calculate.
The Michigan team is just a disgraced. Zero sportsmanship n no remorse. Pretty sure they'll think the penalty they got is unfair
@@un1tyNL Whoa, not cool! Hundreds of millions of Americans care very deeply about sportsmanship in all forms. Don't let a few bad apples tarnish an entire country.
The Michigan guy in the end after one hour of penalty was like ‘that did not change the outcome’. They are not ashamed.
@@IamtheDill Don't let it bother you friend. There are bigots in every country if you look hard enough. Anyone who thinks an individual (or several individuals) reflects the attitude of an entire society or country isn't worth listening to or engaging in the first place.
Hilarious, all the comments trashing Michigan, most likely from Americans like me, and yet idiots will still try to pretend that this is an “American culture” issue.
@@IamtheDill As you've noticed in 2020, America is 50% bad apples!
I hate everything about the michigan team.
ohhh yes!!!
They're following their school's other sports methods.
As an American, I'm glad to let you know Tokai won over Michigan as this race took place last year (AKA 2019). Tokai got 2nd place overall with Agoria winning.
@@DiegoGomez-pk5tg that's a relief thank you for informing us
And they don't wave either!
Kudos to team Tokai University for keeping their cool and not punching those Michigan a-holes.
i felt he was going to beat them
We only watch it from video perspective. Tokai did not want to look at MI perhaps at that moment. Imagine the cameraman that seeing that face from MI team that look so proud. Did the cameraman hold the urge to punch?

@@DiegoGomez-pk5tg thanks for letting us know the ending, though I wanna enjoy the tension within the race more.
I do appreciate Tokai's courage for not giving up so easily, though they deserved more within day 2 of the race, especially when Michigan team did the dirty play.
Pardon my English though.
@@DiegoGomez-pk5tg you're doing this on multiple comments. You bitter bro
I was exciting to see a US team but now I’m not. Screw Michigan.
I completely agree.
Ya im sitting here like " ummm im not with them" haha
As someone from the US I would rather be represented by Stanford's early failure than Michigan's horrible sportsmanship
I felt so bad for them
I didn't expect a series about solar cars to have super villains in it, but alas, Michigan is here
lol i almost died with this comment
Lol frfr 😂😂😂
Michigan also participates in many other competitions, like baja sae. I’ve been to several baja competitions before. Michigan is one of the top teams here too. They also act like assholes here too. You get yelled at for taking a picture. All the other top teams are very friendly
what more do u expect from americans?
Environmentalists can be jerks too. Surprised? Their just as down and dirty as the rest of humanity.

First the Michigan teams plays unfair and then they brag about it.....worst display of spirit ever
Damm Michigan such a shame, just shows how badly you are representing yourselves, sure its a race but remember this is all for science, for future tech/analysis green energy, forget the stupid trophy we want to see how far solar has become
And not a race for solar against gas cars. Something they forgot.
Not just solar but the battery, motor, and everything else
@@thecwwshow8036.... What?
Actually if they are trying to show how efficient that solar energy is, I believe they have taken the wrong approach. Currently they're just wasting time and money fiddling around with consumer components when they should trying to increase the efficiency of converting solar energy to electrical energy.
@@noisyboy971 but that's not what they are trying to prove with that race..wait... You seriously think that because they do these races.. They gave up trying to improve solar panels.. 😂😂😂👏👏🤣😂😂😂🤣😂😂😂 Seriously.. How did you come up with that logic.. Of course they're still and always trying to get better performance from solar panels.. Them having a solar car race in no way means they've given up on making solar panels better 😂😂
I don't care who wins at this point, i just want Michigan lose.
In next episode they say, they are looking to make their country proud.
I'd go with my own car, brake check Michigan's solar car, and say, oh sorry, an animal just crossed. I'm pretty sure with those tiny wheels those cars can't even brake. Out of the race. Now seriously, for once this race is being recorded, don't you have a better moment to make shame of yourself?

That's messed up Michigan acting like that. I would disqualify them. Boo on them and their terrible sportsmanship!

I feel kinda sorry for the electro-driver, the weather people and most of the team, but MICHIGAN needs to get DISQUALIFIED
they can talk to their truck driver later
I can't believe that Michigan solar team did that!
I can. As an American, I can say that, in the last 6 years, I have been astounded, embarrassed, ashamed, even horrified, and, finally, brought to the sad realization that America is no longer the shining representative in the world of honor and fair play. That perception may only have been just that, but a large part of our society, and even the world, did make efforts toward that ideal - until we, ourselves, showed our asses.
I mean, Michigan team, come on. That's just low
At this point, I don't know what penalty Michigan had to pay, but given the violation interfered with the very nature of the race, I would have accessed a one hour penalty for the first violation and disqualified them for the second. Basically zero tolerance for cheating!
Who knew that Michigan and Cheating was a thing

Michigan should be disqualified! That was an extremely unfair behavior and should not be tolerated.
Only a few comments and there's all anti michigan
I'm glad there is one thing that beings us all together, is that we all want Michigan to lose.
It all began when they didn't wave
Eh, you could tell there were some bad vibes as early as the first episode.
@@jzhu623 Those vibes were so easy to pick up on. They reminded me of the types of kids that were bullied at school, the social rejects that thought they were better than everyone else. That personality type was perfectly embodied by the Michigan team.
The Netherlands dominating vs all those big countries, yeaaah
That sounds like a Michigan driver.
Every comment is just ripping into Michigan, fair enough lol
The Japanese team support car should have just forced the Michigan team car to the side.
Next time there should be race officials on convoy cars.
Every team has an official observer in their rear escort vehicle.
Ooooh Murica buddy, playing dirty as per usual 😂🤦🏻♂️
The Michigan team have been pretty bad in the last two episodes but they took it too far this time.
Michigan Team should be banned and ashamed of their actions
USA Cheats, congratulations you bunch of babies. Ban them for all future competitions.
The hardest problems are power management and efficiency which includes battery management systems, and power distribution between the solar panel, battery, and motor, and the second problem is aerodynamics which is another efficiency problem.
You'll also need to know what wind (direction and strength) , sunshine energy level/clouds for the next few days are to expect on every part of the road before you. Which means that you can predict the generation of energy by the solar panel.
Sometimes you'll reach the finsih faster when slowing down a period for harvesting more energy in the battery...important when the next stage is covered with clouds. (Yes, you could call that also "power management I know....but it differs form electronical power management in the car itselfs).
Also need to know what energy use the car has at every speed...including wether effects...before the start..of coarse during the race aerodynamics of your car is a given...that was important at least one year earlier during developing the car.
(My comments are based on the story of my child, participating a few races before this in building one of those cars and responsible for race strategy)
I feel so horrible for Tokai... even if Michigan got penalised they wasted so much of their battery stores to try and overtake them repeatedly.
Now I am just watching hoping Michigan to loose
What sucks is that the only other American team couldn’t continue and then Michigan just embarrasses themselves
There we two more US teams, Minnesota and Berkeley. Minnesota came in fifth in the Cruiser Class.
glad these episodes are slowly coming off youtube premium. Excited about the 2021 race.
Lmao Michigan's strat is like double pitting during a virtual safety car in f1
I like to see how Michigan represents typically American behaviour.

I would have wound up with assault charges if I was on the Tokai team after Michigan's crap.

Do the cars have energy regeneration from coasting or braking? Or isn't it allowed by the rules?
They do so little breaking so I don't know if it's worth the weight. And coasting the do regeneration through their solar panels.
@@mofynn i mean in addition to the solar panels since they sound anxious that the sun isn't enough to charge the battery if they drain it. At least some regeneration that would go into a capacitor for overtaking, that could also be used to charge the battery.
There ought to be. Regen braking doesn't have a weight penalty if they use AC motors. There could be sufficient altitude changes in the terrain that could have descents from hills that could be useful if the cars had regen.
Yep, every solar car has regen braking as well as regular brakes
Yes, every solar car has regenerative braking in addition to their regular braking system. We try to minimize unwanted accelerating and decelerating and therefore mostly use regen braking before control stops and the stops in the evening.
One day, everyone will drive cars powered by moonlight. 🌝
