Agreed
@John Smith Did they get a penalty?
@@Deedz_Indeed I hope they do because they deserve it
@@Deedz_Indeed yes, 1 hour at the end
I've literally pause the video at that point to write the same post. " look at us, we are American, we can only win by cheating." Way to suck Michigan.
We can disagree what the best team is, but we all know the worst team.
Enrollment rates will take a dip lol.

As an American, I'm glad to let you know Tokai won over Michigan as this race took place last year (AKA 2019). Tokai got 2nd place overall with Agoria winning.

@@DiegoGomez-pk5tg Well thanks, I haven't finished the series yet

Absolutely. Michigan sucks
FWIW, they are not liked at the University, either. They make it hard for all of the other engineering teams....

I was looking for someone to comment something about the Agoria couple

A very small percentage of the global population understand Fahrenheit, either give us both or stick with the majority please
Really impressed by Sidd Bikkannavar. Really calm and level headed guy. He'd made an excellent CEO or Astronaut.
Why would he make an excellent CEO? He doesn't seem like a hateful psychopath.
did Michigan end up getting penalized?
Yes but the judge didn't give them much as he didn't see the footage at the time apparently. This is from 2015 I guess. umsolar25.tumblr.com/post/131740790113/long-time-michigan-solar-car-team-mentor-chito

The race is from 2019, as evidenced by 4:50 . Michigan just got penalized that year too.
I know for sure i wouldnt be sending my kids to Michigan University
Michigan is a shame for everyone in the US.
Why did it have to be U of M? Why couldn’t it have been MSU that had a solar car team to represent out state? So disappointed in this teams cockiness and lack of sportsmanship , what a shame.
As an American, I'm glad to let you know Tokai won over Michigan as this race took place last year (AKA 2019). Tokai got 2nd place overall with Agoria winning.
Bert has been on at least the last three races, I was told he's a professional race driver, I suspect any other driver would have lost it and their car totaled. That seems to be the weak spot of many teams, they cover everything except driver skills/training. Go Bert, go Agora, go plucky Belgium!
Sidd from team Tokai has raced solar cars plenty of times too! He isn't from the Japanese team specifically but often races their car in competitions.
13:29 someone give this guy a hug
In the Netherlands, there's a sport to cycle against insane wind speeds.

I think it would be fun to see a solar cannonball type race. Like forget speed limits or laws and just go for it
Still mad at Michigan
Forget football, forget soccer, forget basketball, NASCAR, Formula 1, and everything else. This is the most exciting and interesting college competition I've ever seen!!!
Ok, just watched the Michigan lead car obstruct Tokai's solar car. Not cool! Given the difficulty of passing, Michigan may have also affected the chances for the car following Tokai to win. That was a dishonorable move that should have gotten Michigan kicked out of the race!
What a absolute brilliant competition,i love the messages coming from these brilliant engineers

I think they need rules for % of fresh air that needs to enter the cabin.
Yeah. They need a vent with a minimum size limit. They should allow the teams to chage the shape to maximize efficiency aswell as airflow.
@@northtexasskies3243 This sounds much easier to scrutineer. I agree

Again, Michigan showing the most american things for us asians. Kuddos for tokai japan🇯🇵🎌
They all need to wear goggles against those wind dust like that.
Michigan must have missed all the Americans who just want #DecentHumanBeing2020... #NotMyTeam #DQMichigan
10:18 Using bi-metals you CAN create a control surface with downward force increase,
at a minimum of power expenditure.
When the wind pick's up, the one end of the bimetal can increase a curvature
to increase downforce, to keep the vehicle from gaining lift, and thus
stay controllable.
Ofc, it will need a part of the cooling to stay temperature neutral during non-usage.
When it's required, the cooling is halted, the surface will curve a little, and create the
extra downforce to prevent the lift.
For this to work, the carbon fibre surface must be able to bend just a little,
to create the control surface.
As an American and a person from Ohio I already hated Michigan and wanted them to get last but damn, they really gave us reason for it without my prior hatred
5:02 that was very American
I don't think so. I think he's a douche bag. Im american and im appalled by Michigan's actions.
Just so everyone knows, the Michigan team leader's name is literally "Andrew Dickinson". Very VERY fitting 😂😂😂
I don't think it was very fitting for the son...
How many episodes until we find out who wins?!? I keep thinking it's got to be the next one. 😂
Loved watching every episode of this series. Very well made by the Seeker channel
"we're representing our country"
Sry I don't think they wanna be represented by you
I just realised how bumpy it must be in those cars. Those tiny wheels, I doubt they've got much suspension.
At this point, we all know that team we should warily watch out for in the next solar car race.
The Tokai driver is really cool
I'm ashamed to be from the same continent as Michigan, our bad. - North American resident
3 racers in the first are all flat types and the 2nd 3 racers are bullet types what a coincidence this matches perfectly
17:27 Park the big truck rig in front of the solar car when there's a sandstorm.
Make sure it has a wind shield underneath, so it can shield the solar car.
This prevents sands going into the solar car and it's components, but also prevent the solar
car from being blown away by the wind.
We Dutchies are nailing it
As an American I’m embarrassed and disappointed at how Michigan is portraying us
they should've made it the Australian sailer challenge with winds like these ^^
Phil piping his red he'd missus in the tent, legend
Tokai with the drop-in high torque motor should make up some major time on the next day.
Vow soo beautiful, when we public can use in our daily lives
nothing would make me happier than some hillbilly mechanic from some godforsaken nowhere town to make an electric car that beats all these people.
At 15:14 I was surprised to see the dehydrated driver being given cola instead of water
As an ohio state grad this series’ comment section makes me happy
Michigan representing their county. No wonder they did that thing a while ago on team japan.
Andrew Dickinson... respresenting all those without "-inson"
Life is about winning at all costs, always do what ever it takes
Everyone’s hating on Michigan, I’m hating on Bert for getting out of his Solar Car and going straight for a Coke to hydrate. 15:12
Am I the only one who notices when that guy gets out after the race being completely dehydrated he drinks coke instead of water or something that would actually help hydrate him better
This race is better than F1...
There's something magical about little solar powered carts being supported by a team of people following them in trucks and SUVs burning fossil fuels
how i feel every day in summer lol
If everyone would just drive a smaller car or motorcycle, we'd greatly reduce the fuel demands.. I can't count how many 6+ seat, two ton vehicles I see moving one person every day. Meanwhile, I'm getting 70-80mpg and spending $5 per week on gas.
"Representing not only our university but our country" Michigan
I think there is a loophole in driver size.
The competition should stipulate a specific constrained internal volume they all have to have , and a payload of say 120kg that includes the driver.
They way using small drivers would not offer any benefit.
There's already a minimum of 80 kg limit set in the competition.
Michigan be like: the best weve ever achieved was in 2017, we achieved 2nd place. Bro, they should be last, hope they break down
2 takeaways
1. The Michigan team is equivalent to dong water.
2. I'm forever calling dust devils whirly whirlies!
You mean “willy willy”
14:12 yo 😂
whoever wins she got the price 😂🙈
I feel sorry for the drivers in that heat. Inside a tiny bubble.
Ironic that this is held in Australia, with how dependent their economy is on mining coal.
I watched the whole thing not gonna stun but i was expecting sum saaaniiccc faaastt whips uk
I can't believe we were represented that poorly. 🥲
It's f1 fanboy here with another dumb question.can they use ground effect? it doesn't produce that much drag.
Fellow F1 fanboy here.
Creating a platform supporting ground effect is actually banned from several forms of motorsports including the solar championship.
Also considering the additional surface area it would result in more weight for the cars, thereby slowing them down. Considering the cap on specifications for battery capacity and motor power output, the difference would be impossible to make up.
The current setup does seem to hold the best prospects for the team considering they are designed to run solely on clean air, even the slightest hint of dirty air can toss them off.
Looks to me like they need to add some control surfaces to these light vehicles for wind gust like a tail rudder. If the wind is moving you use the wind to get back control
Batten fall is getting closer!
After watching this series i know that i should getting german car because i convinced that my car will survive car crash
I am 45 seconds in, and all my thought is that the michigan team better have some big issues this episode...
Drinking a coke when you’re dehydrated is one of the worst decisions you could make.
