So, I made one of these guys after watching this and just made the cuts with a bandsaw but didn’t pay extremely close attention to how centered and perfect the cuts were. If you’re going to make the cuts, keep that in mind because the four pieces get spread unevenly causing the ring to rotate unevenly.
The cuts must be exactly in the middle
Great job
Just made one outta Ipe wood. Saving lots. Props to you!!!
Amazing job Jed!!! You just save me 50 $!!!
Thank you!!! Got a subscriber for that!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank You 😉
That just made my day cuz The part where you carve the wood was very satisfying
Thanks ;-)
Always learning something good from you!
Obviously you are a metal guy and not wood guy. No matter what you did good working that mandrel. I will try it too.
Love your builds, keep up the great videos!!

What are the two bits you use on either side of the rectangle block on the lathe to hold it while the turning bit turns it into a cylinder?? It would help me tremendously!

Can I buy one of these mandrels for use in a power drill ? I don't have a lath but I want to make wooden rings.
Thanks but not for sale
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
Great Video!!! I was wondering what is the machine called that is rotating? I looked at the lathe set but I need the machine as well i think ?

Is there any way to make a tool for holding ring on the outside so i can sand and finish the inside? I dont have a lathe, only use dremel
I have not seen such a tool.
I tried making one of these recently. The problem is as soon as I put any oil on the metal ring so that it would lathe cleanly, the wood basically disintegrated. It got soft, the pressure of the ring compressed it, and the ring spun freely.
Any idea how to resolve that? "Just don't use oil" is I suppose an answer, but may not work so well for getting clean cuts on the outside of the ring.
Make it out of very hard wood. I used beech. And I didn't use any oil. What do you use the oil for?
Toma meu lique q vc merece 🖒🖒🖒
Дельная вещь!
"Как сделать оправку для изготовления колец" так будет точнее)

Спасибо
dude i’ve been watching you for almost a month i think and i just want to say what you do it’s really cool i think it would be dope if u made a giant table or something with the resin and wood
Maybe I'll do one day
jedrek29t coolio!
Watch out with the wood dust/shavings!
If they reach your motor your motor can catch on fire, and in the best case scenario it will stop working.
Watch out! I use a compressor with every minute.
You're right
My maid object is to cut channels in coin rings in order to inlay various materials. I have spent serious dollars in various metal mandrels all of which loosen with the ring vibrating down the shaft. I have also tried using this “wood technique” with various wood types…poplar, pine, oak etc….I have superglued and epoxied them in place in an attempt for stability…all loosened…. My last attempt is waiting for a “Unimandrel” which i have paid big bucks to arrive….FRUSTRATING
Teach meeee
looooooll
Czemu masz w nazwie 29t ?
Can you please tell me what kind of wood you used? I just tried to copy this with hard maple and it split. Thank you!!
Great vid
Haha disregard, I just realized you wrote it s OAK at the beginning of the video. I missed that
;-)
It's actually beechwood

jedrek29t No właśnie nie zrozumiałem dlatego pytam
Chodzi o rozmiar do pierścionków ?
Rozmiaru nie znaczyłem. Ma jedynie za cel unieruchomienie pierścionka
Проще говоря - ригель!

@@jedrek29t I'm lathing down the outer diameter of the ring(s). The metal on metal scraping is better with oil to reduce friction, no?
