    Once you get over $2k you might as well go to $3k and get away from polymer anything! Plus you can tell that Wilson went high-end on all materials and detailing. Great comparison video. THANK YOU!

    The EDC X9 is bulletproof - no pun intended :) From my experience and tons of research the WC seems like it will be more consistent long term. My oh so awesome Fiancée picked me up an all black X9 for my birthday and have put 10,000+ rounds with no jams from cheap to great Ammo. A real testament to Wilson’s quality.

    This Wilson X9 should really be compared to the Staccato C2. I would love to see that comparison. Also, you can add a mag well to the C2, making it a very tight holding gun, depending on your hand size.

    I purchased my X9 today and put 200 rounds through it and I have fallen in love with it. Mine must have the medium grip as I would not want it smaller and I chose the one without the rail as I do not put a light on a gun that I might carry. Another plus for me with the X9 is that I don't care for grip safeties. Thanks for another great review.

    I've owned numerous STI's and Wilson Combat pistols. Both are quality manufacturers and you will do well with either. I've not shot a Staccato, but I have to assume their grip profile is the same as all other 2011's. In my opinion they are a little chunky for CCW work. I've carried professionally for 20 years and for a carry pistol, the ergonomics, weight, reliability, and accuracy of the WC EDCX9 can't be beat. Sure there are pistols which can compete in any single category, but not as a whole package. I picked mine up pre-loved for 2k which negates the price difference. WC's customer service is top notch. Apples to Apples, if I could only have one, it would be the EDC X9.

    • @HighGear39
      @HighGear39 Před 2 lety +2

      Update...I just picked up a Staccato C2 Duo limited with the threaded barrel. Shot it today and here are my observarions.
      It is super accurate. I prefer the grip of the wilson, and wish the Staccato would offer a bobbed frame. Both are very accurate, but the abilito to add a RDS is a huge advantage for the Staccato. I've also been waiting for a threaded barrel option for the edc X9, but Wilson has not come through.
      I shot the Staccato unsuppressed and suppressed and it was 99.9% reliable (one hiccup while suppressed). I love both guns, but if I had to pick one for the rest of my life, I think I'd lean toward the Staccato. The ergos of the EDC are superrior, but the ability to run a suppressor and RDS pushes the Staccato over the edge.

    Honestly, the X9 is probably the best factory 2011 out there. Not because it’s the softest shooting but because it’s actually a signifikant redesign compared to the 1911. Most 2011s are just thick 1911s while the X9 took a more sophisticated approach.

    Superb video and presentation “as always!”
    I love the Staccato P. If I did not already own an X9 I would certainly purchase one because they are a great firearm as well!
    To respond to a few things you mentioned in the video: that IS the smallest grip WC makes for the X9, and it was equipped with the long aluminum trigger. Of course you can get a medium and small trigger, but there is only a LARGE backstrap (easily swappable) available in addition to the small one which you had installed.
    Also, though it was not on the model you had (nor mine), the X9 is now available with a magwell which does increase the purchase on the grip even more. $85 option from WC.
    I look forward to your next video “as always!”

      @KSGunGuy01  Před 5 lety

      Thank you Jason! Good to hear more about the customization. You’re correct on the grip and trigger reach. I’d still prefer it to be just a bit smaller but I shoot a lot of single stack and subcompacts so there may be a bias. That’s awesome about the Magwell and I’d love to see that add on at some point. Cheers!

    Just once I wish someone would do a full IDPA Match with both guns in parallel and THEN tell me which one they like better. Way too many of these videos are just unboxings or range plinking. What i want to see is how well you can wear it comfortably under clothing, get it out from concealment, acquire a grip on a fast draw, shoot at different distances, drop mags, reload, etc. and still shoot accurately and quickly while under some stress. Also good to do it outside, as the lighting conditions vary (sun reflecting off the slides or sights, etc.)

      I'm an IDPA master class shooter and I've run both. They are both really fine pistols and I ran the STI faster, the heavier weight helps a lot with recoil control and i prefer a larger grip when running a gun fast.. That said the real thing is the size of these two. If you want just a competition gun its the STI. If you want a carry gun its the WC. If you want one to do both its the WC. Me personally i didn't like the sites on either, i would swap them but i'm picky with that so dont take that to heart. I just felt the STI was too bulky for concealed carry, and the grip itself would hang up on shirts while the WC didn't. To me the choice between these two simply comes down to your use needs. If youre rich get both ;)

      @@hillbilly_delux78 Very detailed report. Thank you very much for posting that comparison. Have you tried the two newer pistols from both Wilson and STI? The Wilson Combat EDC X9S looks perfect for carry but would probably be a little hard to run fast due to the grip size. Then you have the newest from STI which is the Staccato C2 pistol. It is smaller than the Staccato P, more like the size of the EDC X9, and they have changed the grip texture so as not to snag. They call it the Gen 2 grip. I agree with you that if you can you should get both. I have the Staccato C2, and I just ordered the EDC X9 but haven't received it yet. I am looking forward to comparing the two. I think I should probably get the EDC X9S for carry though.

      @Daniel Brice The only part that is polymer is the grip and trigger. I thought about this too. After side by side comparisons, for the money, I still chose STI. And I am a very picky OCD person when it comes to things like this. Just go try it out, and shoot it. I think you may change your mind. Also, this is the same grip they use on higher-priced race guns such as Atlas guns which run $5k - $6k. This grip is also incredible in that you can replace it with aluminum or metal grip if you want to spend an extra $600 and another $100 or so for the aluminum trigger. That is what Nighthawk and other companies have on their guns. An Aluminum grip. But I still think in this particular case, the Polymer is very well done and strong and probably won't see chip marks over time and the exposed metal from scratches like the NightHawk and other guns that use aluminum or metal handles.

About six months ago I was in a gun store that sells the EDC X9 I couldn't wait to hold it I"m so glad I did it was terrible, fat grip, very uncomfortable for my small hands, Both are quality guns but the STI wins in my book.

I was shocked, and who can say no to this. Anyway, when all said and done, I walked out with the Staccato P Duo (Red Dot, Rail, MagWell), The MagWell changes this gun in a big way, whereas with the Wilson, it didn't make much difference. Both awesome guns, they shoot awesome, but if you are presented with all of them to choose, it is a hard choice. Can't go wrong with any of these guns.

    @sethrockwood Před 4 lety +5

    I appreciate your videos. Always seem to be informative and fun. I think on this one though, you kinda skipped over one very important factor, and that is concealability. The sti is designed as a low cost(relative to other options) 2011 race gun (slightly shorter than the typical 3gun types but point still stands). The edc x9 is designed specifically as a concealed carry gun....thus, no mag well, rounded portion on back lower end of grip for less print, and designed to be stone cold reliable (like...glock reliable but without all the downsides of a glock). If your looking for a range or competition gun, the sti is a clear winner. If your looking for a daily concealed carry gun, the edc x9 is arguably the best gun on the market. Comparing the 2 without making this point is a bit like a comparison between a 1wood, and a 3 iron with the conclusion that the 1wood is better because the ball flew further 🤣. I think it’s a testament to the x9 that it can simultaneously hang with the sti in the sti’s wheelhouse, wile still being stone cold reliable, and concealable. Thanks for posting the vid. Looking forward to the next.
    Edit: x9 mags can be had for 35 bucks(18 round extended), and 31 for 15 rounders @bigdaddyunlimited, sti mags are almost 3 times as much. Worth considering when comparing prices and your intended use ( you’ll need about 6 21 round mags for practical shooting/3 gun)

    I have the X9; it's an awesome pistol. It is essentially the size of the Glock 19 and a lot of time and research went into making it just as reliable. Hence, a 1911 style option for ccw for those who can afford it. This size pistol is the largest I personally will carry. The STI being both larger and heavier would relegate it to home defense for me. If it had been available when I purchased the X9 I may have decided on it, and went back to my G19 for carry, simply because of the price difference. Still one could get the X9 and use it for every purchase. FYI. not one issue with mine so far and find it to be a great shooter.

    Hi KSGG, not many videos on the Staccato P. I have the funds for the Staccato P 4.4 or the Staccato C2. I have the Wilson EDC X9S and Bul Viper and the C2 would be a bit bigger and the P would be more in size with my Shadow2 and Stock3. I have Sneaky Pete holsters that will mount to my wheelchair, so weight isn't an issue. With that background, which way would you go?

    Bought the X9, lots of stove pipes and failure to go into battery. Sent it back to Wilson to get fixed.... wondering if I should have picked up the Staccato P instead? :”(
    X9 is finicky with ammo. Wilson recommends higher grain ammo so it will cycle. Mine won’t even take 115gr. It cough’s and chokes on it. 126gr is even iffy.
    FYI I was using Winchester 126gr.
    When I tried 115gr., It was Sig’s 365 ammo

    EDC X9 is much better! You get what you pay for with Wilson Combat. I shot the Staccato P quite a bit but went with the Wilson. Very easy decision for me. I just ordered my second Wilson, I'll see it in about 4 months since it's a custom build. Also, with a 1911 and the EDC X9, you are supposed to use your support hand thumb to release the slide not your strong hand thumb.

    Well, I did it, I think I've changed my mind. I picked up a Staccato C2 DPO Limited and man is it a shooter! I prefer the grip on the EDCX9, but honestly the Staccato is sweet. I'm going to have to do a head to head range day, but ultimately the ability to add a dot, light (the EDC is non-rail) and ability to have a threaded barrel is what wins for the Staccato.

  • @OpIndependence

    Great review. I have not had a chance to shoot the Staccato P yet but I love my EDC X9. I do think comparing the X9 to the Staccato C would be more of an apples to apples comparison given the fact that the C is marketed as their carry gun like the X9 (I think most people would agree that the P is just a little big for everyday carry). The back straps are offered in a small or a large size and it looks like you have the small one on that pistol. It also looks like you have the large trigger so you could go down to a medium or a small. As an FYI - Wilson just came out with 18 round magazines (for the EDC X9L 5" version) that works in this pistol. Also, you can get the magwell that come on the EDC X9L retro fitted to this pistol. In addition, you can now get an RMR slide cut for this pistol which Wilson calls their True Zero Optic System. Keep up the good work.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 5 lety

      Although I agree that the Wilson is more carryable, Ive seen the Staccato P successfully carried appendix, though it’s not for me. As for the newer changes to the Wilson, I’d love to see the magwell. Good to hear about the 18 rounders, though I think Harry has plenty, lol. Thank you and cheers!

    The Wilson Combat EDC X9 in this video has Sterling Silver grip medallions, not Pewter as stated. Also, The EDC X9 does not come in different frames sizes. There's only one frame, but the back strap is changeable, you can get a small or large back strap. The back strap in the video is size small.

    I’ve never shot an STI, but they seem to be great guns. I own a WC EDC X9 and really like it. (Before that was my EDC, I carried a Glock 26 for about eight years.)
    After I purchased the X9, I special ordered a WC EDC 9 Compact in SS. I’ve never shot a gun like it. It fits my smaller hand perfectly, is amazingly accurate (even more so than the X9), and has never had a problem with any ammo.
    Once I received it and shot a couple thousand rounds through it, it replaced the X9 as my EDC gun. My EDC X9 is now in my nightstand with a Streamlight TRL-1 HL on it. It makes a great home defense gun with the light on it.
    Yes, I know I went from 15+1 to 9+1, but because of how well I can shoot the EDC 9 Compact, I feel it is the best gun for me to carry daily, plus I always carry two spare 10-round mags on my belt.
