    Nice review. I picked up both the Staccato C and P when they first came out. All I can say is I ended up keeping both. I like the holster that came with the C and feel it carries very well, but at first, aftermarket holster options were slim, especially if you wanted a light bearing one. I find takedown to be super simple. My very first outing I ran 500 rounds ranging everything from 115 up to 165 gr. This gun is crazy accurate for me and honestly surprised me at how nicely it managed recoil. Long story short, if you want it, just buy it and you wont be upset.

    Love it, grip safety for my right hand must be mindful how its held but left feels more natural. Called them about the sharp trigger guard and the technician said to sand it down or scrap the edge off and use a little oil on the area after doing so. That fixed the uncomfortable grip edge for me. thanks

    Nice review of a top shelf gun. The price puts it way outside our budget but you have viewers who can afford. I do believe the 2011 concept has merit especially as polymer and aluminum are being used. Double stack, 1911 trigger and reduced weight - all positives.

      @@hurt1704 Don't be jealous lol. You'll get your day in the sun to shoot it soon. It's pretty cool with the optic cut out for it too! It's got a great trigger on top of that. A little spendy but buy what you really want. I should say rent at the range first, then decide. All these reviews from KS, 1776, or Big Johnson are all subjective and their own opinions. They are great help in steering you one way or another but at the end of the day its your choice my friend.

      BloodySoup74 luckily I have shot the x carry and think it's a great gun. I loved it , but once I heard they were coming out with a smaller version, I decided to hold off. Yeah their optics cut is a drawback to me due to not making a plate for trijicon. I think sig needs to stick to making guns and quit trying to push their crappy red dots

  • @HighGear39
    @HighGear39 Před 2 lety +1

    I've recently picked up a Staccato C2 DPO, and C DPO. I was a big fan of the Wilson EDCX9, but they lagged behind on the threaded barrel and RMR setup. The Staccato DPO is good to go with RMRCC and their limited edition came with a threaded barrel.
    I shot all three today and quite frankly while the EDC X9 feels the best in the hand, I shoot the Staccato C the best. I want a consistant presentation across my guns now, so I think the C model for concealed and the C2 for range / supprssor work will be the most consistent.
    Unfortunately I think the EDCX9 is going to have to find a new home.

  • @HarleyBRider
    @HarleyBRider Před 5 lety +2

    Nice review. Thanks. I have 600 rounds through my Staccato C so far. It feeds everything, is wonderfully accurate, and the 2.5 pound trigger is as nice as the trigger on my Nighthawk T4. The biggest problem so far is finding a good OWB holster to fit, as the trigger guard shape and the rail present some challenges. It comes with an IWB holster that is good quality, but I prefer OWB leather. George at One In The Chamber Gear made a very nice holster for me, and Lobo Gun Leather is making another one. Great shooting gun, but not quite enough to replace my Dan Wesson ECO for everyday carry.

  • @johnstanton2853
    @johnstanton2853 Před 5 lety +3

    I love my Staccato C. Only a few weeks old, I'm approaching 1000 rounds. Shoots any type of ammo. Can use almost any magazine, though I have read some earlier models didn't like some magazines. Even cheaper Metalform mags work fine. The left side thumb safety does tend to dig into the thumb, but a pair of tactical gloves removes the pain, and maybe moving the thumb off the top of the safety will also help. Field stripping is unique; no tiny hole for the paperclip, and the double recoil springs make extracting and reinstalling the guide rod assembly a chore. But the more you field strip the easier it becomes. The Staccato has replaced by 1911 Officer .45acp as my carry gun. And for a "Commander" size pistol it shoots as well as my 5" 1911s.

    • @KSGunGuy01

      John Stanton are you just using the IWB holster that came with the Staccato C, or have you found another holster that will fit it? The rail and the shape of the trigger guard keep it from fitting in any of my other 1911 holsters.

    Just bought the C. Loved everything about it. If someone wants capacity get the P. This was intended for an EDC not a duty firearm. That being said. The red fiber optic that came with mine is bright. I had not problem rapid firing 20 yards two in the chest one in the head. I carry two extra mags $45 a piece. Adjust the trigger and get a crisper shorter break and reset. Yes the slide release is awkward but I have adjusted to releasing the side with my support hand on the reload. The only thing I would change is the slide release. Dawson Precision will be doing milking for customers that want to have an optic plate. Run a couple boxes of +P to loosen the recoil spring and check out the slide. If you think it’s glass now? Is it a $1500 gun..? You bet. IMHO yes it’s the best carry gun. Of course that is up to the person shooting. If you have $600 more to spend and want more upgrades get the DVC Carry HOST. That’s my review on top of your review

    I agree about the takedown. I own a STI Guardian in 45 and it is absolutely my best shooter, but the take down is a pain - the little plastic piece will fit in both directions and only one direction will work, it is not marked so it becomes confusing, plus trying to install it with the slide off the frame is a lesson in finger strength trying to compress the spring. But, that being said, I am going to pick up this beauty as STI makes a great gun.

    • @Erik-qx6km
      @Erik-qx6km Před 3 lety

      1911 has an all metal lower and came out in 1911. The 2011 is the same design, but has a 2-piece lower where the upper part is metal and the lower part is composite. This lowers the recoil and allows a thinner handle to allow wider magazines and therefore more rounds.

    I don't own a staccato yet. I DO own an STI GUARDIAN 45ACP. Regarding your problem with take down. The "two plastic" pieces are really one, and an extra one. Don't use both at the same time. "If" it takes down like mine, (I'm pretty sure it does) when you fit ONE of the inserts, it comes apart and goes together very easy. If you don't use them, you can field strip easily, but putting it back together is a work out for your fingers as you have to over power the dual recoil springs during reassembly.

    Comments on reviews for any gun over $500 = “It’s overpriced”
    “It’s a tack driver” Ok, 95% of guns are pretty accurate nowadays.
    There’s really only a couple guns that directly compare to this gun (The optic ready duo version) So, $1500+ isn’t too bad for an optic ready 1911 9mm.

  • @meangene4038

    Excellent review, bro! Definitely do a follow-up after you get comfortable with it. I wouldn't worry about the few sharp edges, since it is a carry gun and for the two or three shots you might ever need to defend yourself...who cares. I know you were in a rush to get this out with me and quite a few others, who kept pestering you about it...only cuz, we love your reviews (no one is more detailed)...even STI's own commercial pales by comparison. I know, you don't want to take it down due to CZcams's Nazi's, but perhaps, a snapshot of the insides? As for price, it's still cheaper than my Dan Wesson Valor (9mm Commander-size). Btw, the 25.6 lb model is reserved for John Wick...press a button and a tripod pops out, the chamber rotates and a .50 BMG barrel extends out....

    I’ve been looking for something new to carry and that looks great but for a 2011 I expected higher capacity, considering the size anyways. Not a fan of ambi safeties on 1911s either so the search continues
    You mentioned your struggle while on the range, it’s frickin awesome when you shoot so many different firearms you get to complain about that stuff ain’t it? I buy all the time and even a bad range day with 1 firearm, doesn’t mean it’s bad with all the others. Just make sure to take a shadow 2 along or something else super accurate to get that confidence back

    I won't joke on the weight, same as a B.A.R. rifle! LOL.... From appearance it reminds me of a CZ 2075 Rami BD except the trigger. I don't think capacity is an issue for me, though some guys will whine about it. 8 rounds of 230 gr .45 A.C.P. equals 16 rounds of 9 mm in bullet weight so properly placed shot matters, just guys that need 16 rounds can't properly place their shots and need 16 rounds. If you need more than 2 hits with a .45 a.c.p. then 4 rounds from a 9 mm isn't going to be any better IMHO. Oh yeah! as always.... Great review! Mumble,Mumble capacity.....LOL

  • @swkohnle08

    For me, I think it seems like a nicely made gun that shoots well out of the box, but the price point for a defensive gun is high. A Glock 19, Sig or M&P are priced better for defensive carry guns. $1,400 is pricey to lose in a defensive shooting investigation should that ever happen. I have two identical G19’s with the same sights for defensive purposes so if I had to hand one over to LEO for investigation purposes, I still have one. But that’s just me. For competitive shooting, $1,400 makes more sense. Even spending money on a good 1911, I would not have a problem but just not for purely defensive use. Good review as always
