    The Model 1 is Dust Moto’s first electric dirt bike and this is the first generation, or alpha build, of the Model 1.
    Whats unique about Dust, is that they are being very public about their process developing this motorcycle.
    These current Alpha specs will most definitely change as this bike develops, but we’re sure you’re interested to know exactly how the Alpha build is currently set up:
    It’s got a custom 72 volt nominal, 39 amp hour battery that is juicing a Silixcon SL controller running 200 nominal and 350 peak phase amps to a QS 165 v3 motor - which is resulting in 25 kW of peak power and roughly 15 kW of nominal power.
    The bike has a WP 43mm fork mated to KTM Freeride EXC triple clamps and an Ohlins Shock for a Yamaha YZ 85.
    It’s got a 21” front and 19” rear wheel.
    All of this is bolted to a custom steel frame with an aluminum sub frame and swing arm, and the bike is covered in custom machined ABS plastics.

    Interested in a Dust Moto but missed the cutoff on the Founders 50 Program? Fear not. The team at Dust has now opened another program called “Next 100” - which is what it sounds, an opportunity to reserve one of the next 100 bikes. So, if you want early access and missed the F50, check out the details on: bit.ly/DustMoto

      Getting closer .. off the shelf, well known & tunable suspension is a big step forward !
      Now if they can just get a 30-35 mile range & keep it comparatively light - they'll really have something.

    • @jameshatton4405
      @jameshatton4405 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@mattmatt591 I love 2 strokes, but there's things that you just can't get away with riding a 2 stroke compared to an electric? If electric means the difference between riding and not riding, then I'm going to choose an electric over a 2 stroke just because I need to drive 3 fking hours away and hundreds of kilometres just to ride a 2 stroke FFS! So 2 stroke as much as I love the sound and power, is dropping down my list because it's becoming an unridable machine these days! Not because of the limitations of fear vs balls of steal.....but because you put a target on you by authorities!
      The one thing that used to terrified me was the thought of being on my Husky CR250 being chased through the bush by police on trail bikes and my bike just snap eating a spark plug on the spot! FFS 2 modern strokes literally destroy spark plugs more than any combustion motor I know of?
      Oh did I mention I'm a turbo rotary owner as well? Yeah my Husky put my fking 13B to shame on plug eating contest! And I don't mean "fowling a plug" (that would suggest I rode it out of power band and like 18:1 oil ratio or some shit?) nope this animal would fry the spark plug completely dead never ever gonna revive no matter what you do to the plug. I literally had to carry 2 spare spark plugs with me if I went on a trail ride that put me more than 5kms from car and trailer? Fk that haha
      I started to hate my 2 stroke merely because of how many spark plugs it would munch and consume!
      It went like a bat out of hell, and I'd flap of the handle bars like a national flag.... .but fk no not again, not a Husky anyway! I was told the amount of plugs it was consuming was normal expect behaviour for a modern day 2 stroke? I told who ever said that that they are Ludacris thinking that's acceptable just because of the power output the bike was making?
      Also going hotter or colder plugs made no difference other than the length of time between plugs being shorter or longer? The bike would literally melt the connection inside the ceramic/porcelain and no more spark what so ever!

    Electric bikes have been proven to be able to be ridden like ICE bikes. For example, the suspension, handling, etc. Where the innovation really needs to lie is in the battery technology, or charge storage and recharge rate. Everything else is just basically the same iteration of what is out there already, but with minor tweaks and really doesn't move the ball forward, so to speak.

      Nah, bro. Once you get used to using your left hand for the rear brake, it's superior. I swap between ICE and electric (w/ rear hand brake) all the time. It's really not that jarring.
      But I also ride mountain bikes, so I'm used to hand braking for the rear.... BUT in North America, the brakes are flipped, so my front brake is left, and rear brake is right. But even then I find that going back and forth between ICE, electric moto, and MTB is fine. Your brain adapts pretty quickly to each bike... at least mine does, lol

    The one thing I really hate about my Freeride… the triple clamps! Please, please, please, Dust! Don’t use that POS single pinch top triple clamp. It’s not stout enough for the extra weight of the ebikes. It’s meant for an 85!

It won't repalce gas for awhile but eventually it will/ But, the big thing is the possibility of opening riding areas closer to civilization. Although in certian state shitty states like CA that will never happen. Insurance will be th issue. So time will tell. Heck, with e-bikes only Saddleback could re-open:-) Dream.

      This will be a high quality version or competition to the Surron Ultra Bee. I have a Segway X-260 (Surron Lite Bee). I have spent more money on it than buying the Alpha Stark Varg. That doesn't count the over 100 hours of wrenching to get it where it is today. Anyone wanting an Ultra Bee should seriously consider buying this instead save the wrench time for ride time.

    72 v / 39amp battery/ 25kw motor , umm , really ?
    200v/ 40ish amp would be worth the effort cause the first set of numbers in the kWh dept are not promising ; unless electricity is bigger and better in the USA ...

      Looking at the website, they say the target specification are for a full size moto, with 26KW/35HP peak power, with a 3.2kWh minimum battery, with a 10K$ MSRP. If you need more, go with Varg. Honestly, this is likely the sweet spot for many existing and new riders out there, the ones not racing-focused who just like to have fun. Can't wait to see the production model. I just wish they can squeeze as much battery as they can.

      @@realkidcarter I think this will eat a SurRon's lunch. I've spent time riding with the e bike guys on the ultra bee and it would get hosed by an 85 supermini. The ultra bee is cool, but I actually had a chance to talk to Colin at dust and this video confirms the kw output of the alpha shame's everything out there (except the varg) at this point - especially since the bike looks light and small still!

    • @realkidcarter
      @realkidcarter Před 5 měsíci

      yeah but thats not the point, its going to cost 10k a varg being way better for 2 or 3k more, and it being more expensive than a 2024 250, its not practical what so ever. it has an 85 rear shock .... and by comparing to surron i was wondering if people could use them the same was as a surron if they were similar price but they are not and i think its over priced and not worth it. get a brand new 250 or a varg for that price@@smithrod63

  • @eg4760

    Why go with an 85cc chassis and 20hp ? They should aim at matching a 250f or 150 2T at minimum. There is already a lot of offering for bike/moto e-toys, why make another one when the market is all over the Stark which is left with no competition at the moment ? Definitely more market shares to get on full size bike than this.

    I feel like the Electric Bike is the pit bike bandwagon of the early 2000s.😂. But it’s encouraging they are having riders test the prototype as most the ones I’ve ridden, I don’t think anybody rode them before they went to production. Or at least anybody that knows how a dirtbike should feel and handle. Most of them have a stink bug feel and the ergonomics are all wrong. Hopefully this bike doesn’t follow that trend but it doesn’t look like it is.
