The car that only a renowned mechanicâs wife can own
x1000
Iâd be more afraid of cost of parts than the cost of labor.đ€
"Well, if you can turn a wrench......" There are a lot of cars like that though.
I believe that transmission was known to be crap, and not that good either. I never got into the syling of these, but hey, nice car.
Car is great grand touring car like the 928 but I think nicer looking. The F1 is a 20K life on clutch and like Corvette and XLR whole torque tube and rear end have to come out. I don't like clutch life. Also they have sticky button issues. How Ferrari and Maserati cannot do that right and everyone else can is shocking. But I do think the car is nice.
Tyler leaving his 2 cents in the back seat was so funny to međđđ
And on here, he claims to have no cents...
Wizard earned my respect when on one video he said, "I owe my success to Hoovie." Most people's ego's are so through the roof they forget where they came from. I wish you many more years of success and here's to the road to a million.
The 4200/Coupe is a brilliant car , the last true Maserati ever made. I had 3 of them. You should repaint the black wheels back to silver - Looks cheap with black wheels
"..we don't really get into that...too much." Hedging your bets, there, Mr. Wizard!
he paused just a beat too long on that one lol
The Car Wizards has the coolest walk on CZcams! I'd love to see a continuous loop video of him just waddling around on his stubby little legs with Pantera's WALK as the background music!
He waddles like a lame duckđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
i suspect lumbar pain may have something to do with it
You and Mrs. Wizard are real good folks. Keep up with the good videos!
Love those blue instrument dials !
Did you give Hoovie real money, or just a credit for repair labor?
Iirc, in 2021, Tyler spent 80k at the Car Wizards shop. I imagine 2022 is considerably more. That would be quite an IOU for the Car Wizard if he wanted to run the debt that way ;)
Hoovie is contagious...
Wizard totally undersold that exhaust sound! Wow!
Hey Car Wizard, love that you've gotten into the weird wonderful world of classic Maserati!
I'd really love to get hold of you for a chat. I work a fair bit with these cars, and I can see that your car has a bunch of the typical issues that these have. I'm an owner and I've had to design a bunch of parts to fix the problems and I'd really like to show you and get some of these parts to you!
That exhaust is absolutely aftermarket, the X-pipe has been replaced and so have the mufflers. The headers and cats are original. I've made a video about how the factory exhaust on this car was set up. On my car, I went back to the earliest version of the exhaust which a completely different beast!
We need more of your videos and updates on your gransport.
@@Peter-xq9tz I've been working hard on some of the replacement parts which is why I haven't filmed much recently! Once I fix the control arms, I'll be focusing on the car again!
I always liked what Mazarati made, but was always leary of their strength and parts availability. Didn't want to get into a pit..
Never mind that even high end service computers can't talk to Maseratis.... And the service info easily available, eg not in AllData or other such services.
Endless money pit
was tempted for a while to get one of these, but decided to go out in the garage and shine up my old RX7 instead... the turd you know vs the one you don't know.
They're an exotic but one that's cheap to run - mine has paid for all the service and fuel and all other costs just through appreciation alone.
And service has been very cheap. Clutch changes are expensive, some parts are expensive, but generally speaking, they're not much more than other European makes to service
Wish Wizard would have spend more time giving his input on the car vs just going over the car for "service" items.
1) prior history with these cars
2) any shared parts from manufactures?
3) major service items and estimated costs
4) reliability/expectations
Something I love about Italian made vehicles is they emote passion, whether it is a mechanical symphony, or a physical emotions or driving dynamics. Something the other European car companies have bred out of their vehicles almost to the point they're to clinical for my tastes.
So that settles it then, the Ferrari belongs to the Wizard!!
I have the same car here in uk. Those wheels you now have are standard on the gransport but i think if you refinish them in maserati mercury grey which would be standard on that car it would look much better. Exhaust is not standard, xpipe in unsilenced (aftermarket) and rear silencer tips are not standard so i reckon rear boxes are also non standard. Great car enjoy it vastly underated
US spec cars often have differences. It may be standard here.
I really like these and in the UK Still hood value. Can't afford a third car til next years bonus lol!
That x pipe looked standard but the back boxes are aftermarket, look larini to me
@@bentoole6205 I thought that too at first but upon closer look I think itâs 4200 back boxes probably because it has some Larini or similar that have been sold separately by a previous owner and 4200 boxes are easier to find than the GS ones to replace then with. The x pipe is not standard which hints that the car once had more exhaust bits. Shame itâs still got the US spec cats. Iâve had 3 gransports, love them.
Us cars came standard with an X-pipe, as opposed to all the other worldwide deliveries. The back boxes on this car are not stock, all the rest is stock. On my car I had removed the secondary cats and custom built pipes that were less squashed before where the secondary cats are.
These are definitely a car that deserves more credit, I love my cambiocorsa. Just about every electronic part is from some European economy car theyâre cheap to run as long as you buy parts using the number on the part, but even then I got a brand new MAF from Maserati (same one as a 316i) for ÂŁ28, and a BCM for ÂŁ130
Yeah the rest of the commenters here have no idea - my gransport has made me money on ownership (if I sold it), not lost it. It's a brilliant car and less expensive than an Alfa to run
Maserati Transport is a new one to me đđ New Wizard video though, WOHOOOO!!
Love the maserati sound, just doubt it is the stock system, the gransports have square end tips with vacuum operated valves, not round ones! But with that sound, who cares! Enjoy your diva!!!
is this channel gonna turn into a car buying series now? getting old to watch Wizard getting yelled at and warned about wanting to buy a vehicle, then now see his wife buy one instead!?
Clean looking car! Black wheels donât exactly make it, just sort of ok looking.
Exactly....
Ik would do a metallic grey one or two tones darker than the car itself.
The red brake calipers sets it of real nice
Really beautiful car. I like the original wheels. Not to worry.
Way to go Mrs. Wizard...
The dream team do it again! So well deserved Mrs Wizard, enjoy every mile, keep up the great content đ
Kinda waiting for summer when Mrs. Wizard comes riding in on her new Harley. Turn about is fair play!
Hey Wiz. Did you watch the Car Issues episode? The guy who sold the Maserati to Hoovie put an aftermarket Tubi exhaust on it.
Not everything aftermarket is bad. Just like all tuners like AMG (before Mercedes bought it) or Mugen (started by the Honda family) are bad.
20 MPH and 500 RPM with the engine off. Gives new meaning to 'looks like it's moving while it's sitting still'.
Iâm just picturing Mrs. Wizard rolling up to school in her Maserati, and that exhaust grumbling one more time as she parks. đ±
I love how Mrs. Wizard says and as we scroll down I just giggle like a kid again đ€Ł
Sweet sounding engine! đđ€©đ As long as someone else takes care of maintenance and repairs... đ Not your regular Hooptie.... Love the GranTurismo too...
Happy that the Wizard family can afford to live the high life, they deserve it, hope CZcams helped :)
High life? A 15 year old Italian car đđđđđ
@@ua7pyro591 one of 20 cars :)
You know, when I was watching Car Issues I just couldnât figure out who would be the perfect owner for this car. Of COURSE Mrs. Wizard is the right person, and the students are going to love her dual Maseratis.
Mrs. Wizard must be the coolest teacher at school. Driving around in her Mazerati. Yea boy.
Another great video ! Thanks Mr and Mrs Wizard!
Car Wizard and his wife's acting deserves an oscar!
Tyler left his two cents in the back of the car. They had me laughing
When Mrs. Car Wizard is having fun, Mr. Car Wizard is a happy wizard. đ€Łđ
Happy wife - happy life đ
@@_Jester_ No wife - even happier life đ
A very nice Gransport for Mrs Wizard.
I ran one of these from a similar milage and it went well until it approached 50k miles
then the know issues started, the throttle body is infamous and i am covinced they used carbon
tracked pots so that they wear out, thankfully there is an upgrade the solves the issue forever.
Keep an eye out for subframe corrosion, living in the damp UK is not good for these cars.
I replaced my Gransport with a facelifted 2010 Quattroporte with a ZF auto box
not the trouble prone Duo Select, ensuring that all the know weakspots had been seen to
togeather with underbody protection to the all the metal parts.
I much prefered it to the Gransport, i was lucky to find a special GT-S awards edition in
specially-developed pale gold "Quarzo fuso" pearlescent paint, it looked stunning.
I hope Mrs Wizard enjoys many miles of trouble free driving, i am sure David will be
able to fix any issues that arise.
Mrs Wizard has a good taste,WizardđThe only thing I noticed was that the car is parked with the engine off,but still showing 20mph and 500rpm and this just reminds you :It's an Italian car after allđGood luck with it and enjoy it!đ
I had a FIAT once and the dials never fully went back to zero when turned off, must be an Italian thing. đ€Ł
That's amazing car. Very reliable. I have both coupe and spyder. Last breed of ferrari/maserati era.
I dont know why this car isnt talked about more, it is really gorgeous. Future classic for sure.
Because it's seen as a Poor Man's Ferrari with all the normal Italian problems
Because itâs a good looking piece of junk
Earlier models automatic wasnât the best poor interior quality rising park pricesâŠ
Very expensive parts.
@@630Cars many parts are from other carmakes. Alfa romeo fex so cheaper to get
Go Mrs. Wizard!
Nice sound!
And you say BMW is unreliable.........Bwah-ha-ha-ha.....have fun with the Northstar Caddy, Jag and Maserati.....you'll need it!
Wizard, you realise that Cambiocorsa is the name of the gearbox, and not the model of the car? It translates into English as Race Transmission, i.e., the same as Ferrari's "F1" transmission. But, because Maserati had no involvement in the sport of F1, they gave the transmission a different name when used in the Maserati. Also, the "base" model of the GranSport would be the Coupé.
That car is awesome but the interior console controls seems ancient even to 2005 lol. Sounds amazing tho! I'd drive that thing all day any day
Hey Wizard ,that's a stunning car i like it , the only thing i prefer is if it was a gated manuel , other than that it's perfect
Wow great condition , it seams like there is no problems with sticky buttons, i drove some 4200gt and that sound is just great, and that manual transmission đ€€, but they all feel a bit broken with the rear differentialsđ
The back almost looks like a 2000âs Honda.
Or Volvo 60s 2000-2009 and 2010-2018 đ€
The reason the 4200 ended up with those tail lights was because of US laws on the amount of reflective area in the tail light. The 3200 had way cooler tail lights but were not sold in the USA.
Reminds me of those early car races in the 1900s, when a mechanic would ride in the car next to the driver, because thatâs what youâll need with a Maserati, having your husband the mechanic ride with you at all times.
A "thumbs up" car like this in Wichita goes unnoticed in Fort Lauderdale unfortunately. My next door neighbor has the next generation version of this car.
I'd have the wheels brought back to the original silver.
Great video!
I'm a35+ year tech. I like yor videos and the way you treat customers. Watching the up and comers I've learned that ASE stands for ask somebody else. Nothing like hands on experience.
Very brave buying a hooptie, gl with it,ull definitely need it!đđđđ«đźđ€šđ€đ€đ€
Great deal on those baller wheels; but I wonder what car would look good with them? Maybe a clapped out 2000's civic or something?
it would look fine in any early 00's lexus tbh.
@@cadeira2261 yeah like an old IS or something, that would be perfect
It's awesome that this time, Mrs. Wizard drops the car purchase bombshell on the Car Wizard. Usually it's the other way around. I'm glad to see he is not the only one with access to the bank account.
Beautiful car those wheels definitely look good
loving Car Issues, and this episode was lottsa fun!!
I get all the looks and thumbs up when out driving my 1985 Nissan King Cab 4x4 and what is even cooler is I rarely ever see any other trucks like it they have become so rare now in certain areas of the country. I will trade you Wizard!
Great purchase, I had one.. fantastic dry sump engine, put a Larini race back exhaust with sports cats on it and it sounds Devine if you donât do to much city driving the clutch lasts for ages, ignore the PISS readings just use the old fashion if it slips or you can smell it, itâs goingâŠor jumps out of gear⊠The carbon fibre is real not the BMW looking stuff. That clock moves if you hold the button down.
Congratulations Mrs Wizard!!! đđđ
Some kid in Kansas: "my mom drives a Maserati".. Some school kid in Kansas: " my teacher drives a Maserati".. Some guy named David in Kansas: "YES! I got my Ferrari 308 back!"
Love these. Great design giugaro I think. Dash is classy and seats in gransport are ace. And I really like the single clutches. Still mechanical but new age.
Wizard, you now can take full ownership of that red sports card now that Mrs wizard taken this one. Totally look forward to your videos.
Kaipara, New Zealand.
Agree, that is a beautiful car. A car that is special but not over the top. Understated class.
Helps to have a shop to own one. đ
I would be too worried about mechanic bills on such a beautiful Maserati. I get why you would get one ;)
That's what I'm always thinking about so many cars!!!
Great Carr, great condition, but did I see some distortion on a front cross-member?
Congratulations on Mrs. Wizards new ride â€â„ïžđș
Mrs. Wizard got tired of waiting for the 308 to get finished, so she went and got herself a baby Ferrari
To all the âarmchair pilotsâ who seen to know a lot about Maserati out there: I have owned my Gransport since 2009 and it has travelled everywhere - from Grand Canyon and Death Valley to the Italian Alps, always driven hard, and it has given me ZERO problems except for a clutch replacement. These are fun and yes, RELIABLE cars.
I wish Australia had a mechanic like the wizard you know honest and he knows what he's doingđ
That's awesome you guys have an app. You guys are moving up the entrepreneur ranks. Awesome
Nice looking car, Mrs. Wizard.. Some Maserati look quite dated nowadays but not that one. Classic lines and shape, and with a good colour. Let's hope it's reliable (as much as they can be, at least;)).
I know it's a matter of personal taste, but I still prefer the look of the boomerang taillights of the 3200GT over the revised model. However, yours has the more powerful motor so still a nice choice. Congratulations.
4200 quite a bit cheaper / easier to service also.
@@katywalker8322 maybe is you chose the 4200 with manual gearbox.
@@bjorntaxen , that is a fair point! Much of the gearbox electonics were common to the 156 Selespeed (local Alfa specialist used to supply a fair number of Selespeed units to the local Maserati specialist), but the rapid clutch wear was a bit frightening.
Although the older 3.2 V8 had issues with a manual gearbox. They tended to take out the thrust bearings on the crank - reputedly because on the manual people would start them while holding the clutch down - preloading the thrust bearing before there was any oil to protect it.
The 3.2 had a cam belt that needed regular attention, plus a chain at the other end of the head (driving the 2nd cam from the 1st) which could also wear out.
@@katywalker8322 Thank you for your information, I am in hunt of a 3200GT đ
@@bjorntaxen hope you find a nice one. Enjoy
The Navi system is the same as loads of cars, land rover Freelander for one. They just bought them from Becker. Awesome car for Mrs wizard though, beautiful and surprisingly tough
Weeeezard! You have some interesting metal in there, hope you'll do a video on both the R129 SL and the GX.
Very nice and yeah I still see the JAGELLE sittin up there just waiting
Love the sound it sounds glorious
Good call on the black wheels. I did the same thing on a yellow LT4 Corvette I owned years ago. It makes your Maserati POP! It looks very nice. Mrs. Wizard is definitely a driver. So does this mean you now get the Ferrari once it comes back from the tuner? Or is ownership (drivership) of the Ferrari still up in the air?
You can also catch the episodes now out on Motor Trend TV cable network. That's where I watched mine the other day.
Hi Car Wizard. Your wife will love the Gransport. Go to the the maserati life forum they are a good bunch heaps of great help on there.
Your wheels look correct they should be light grey though. You need to get a. launch mini pro x431 so you can adjust your clutch and fault find issues.
Johnny Sack's car! Jenni had trouble getting in because of her "knees" lol.
The grill, engine and dash just amazing. Two cents just crack me upâŠđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
oh boy... that thing is sooooo cool.
And the sound!
THATS A BEAUTIFUL CAR! GOOD FOR U WIZARD!
Congratulations, that is awesome!
The rear end section of the gransport has some of the best curves of any car ever imo
Another great video from the wizard. Keep it up
While I love much of the styling that back end looks more like the last Gen of prelude
keep in mind with an F1 transmission its best to shift into neutral by pulling both paddles back when your stopped. saves on clutch wear when your at a stop. The dual clutch style is better.
What a beautiful car! Enjoy Mrs Wizard.
Best way to own a Maserati - when you are married to a mechanic!!!
Love Mrs. Wizard. See has good taste đ Love it as she is giving the overview of the interior and once again states "my car." Sorry Wiz, the Queen has spoken.
I ordered a new 2008 GranTurismo which is the longer version of yours. Car reviews stated a larger painted canvas was needed to really show of the sexiness of the cars. Maserati engines are made in the Ferrari factory. Flat plane crank engines 9000 rpm redline. Who needs a radio. I drove mine as a daily driver business car for 4 years. Just oil changes every year no issue. When I ordered the car I received a personal letter from the President of Maseratiâs production line thanking me for the purchase. One of my best cars. I lived in Arizona. Set the cruise on 100 mph all day cross country. Not much plastic all metal or leather. The are coming out with the EV version of the GranTurismo THE FOLGORE 1200 horsepower. Moving art and horsepower. EVâs rapidly surpassing gas car horsepower and its not a million dollar plus car like many high horsepower ICE exotics.
Most American V8âs are low revving burbling cross plane engines. European build high revving small displacement flat plane cranks with less internal initial mass. That is why you see Lambos with 5 liter v10âs or Ferrari 6 liter v12âs. Many Small pistons that rev super fast. More rpm means more horsepower as rpm climb. HORSEPOWER =TORQUE X RPM/5252!
You can easily add an aux in to that Becker radio. For about $15! Line in or Bluetooth!
Generally accepted rule is 5 years for tires, I wouldn't use those tires for fear of the possibility of a blowout and body damage. You can gamble if you want.
So, that car was a way for Wizard to keep the 302 for himself... lol Also, the clock is a feature. It's a time stopper, to keep the driver forever young.
Woooooee. Nice set of wheels Mrs. Wiz. Fancy shmancy. The wife has to ride in style too.đâ€đ€đđđ
I think it would be really cool to do ported heads, a camshaft and intake with a compound turbo setup with a tune set up for daily use, and or track/Fun time.
Itâs already got 400 HP and doesnât need any less reliability
Not sure you understand this is a Maserati. It doesn't need any more help with reliability and parts availability, it already struggles enough.
Very nice Mrs. Wizard you will have a lot of fun in that car. God bless
These are amazing. Congratulations
Noticed there was a piece of the shield missing on drivers side when wizard first went under car
I can see the damage from backing into the pickup truck has been repaired
