I'm 69 and I just stopped smoking pot in 2018. I got saved, I had a lot of fun back then but I am more satisfied with the LORD. He blesses me beyond measure. I had heart disease (probably) from smoking pot 40 years but HE spoke to me in church and the rest is a miracle. HE healed my heart disease, NOTHING WAS FOUND with the heart cath that numerous X-rays and other tests said I had wrong. Praise GOD, THANK YOU LORD!!!!! GOD BLESS
Leon Russel on the piano. He was also the band director for that tour. Leon had a very successful musical career. Elton John said that Leon was supportive of him when Elton was starting out here in the US. Elton also said that he got his inspiration and ideas performing live from watching Leon in concert.
Oh yes! You are so right! I’m nearly 70 and we most definitely had a LOT OF FUN!! That was Leon Russell on piano, most definitely stoned! Great times. Mad Digs and Englishmen!!
Everything you said is true. I experienced the greatest music era of all time. Experiencing that being a musician was even more special. In my neck of the woods there were several good musicians on every block and sometimes a house just wasn't big enough to hold all of us, so we just played outside. lol
Joe cocker absolutely owned every beatles song he covered, have a listen to She came in through the bathroom window, Something, Let it be and Come together
Leon Russell was the coolest keyboard player ever, and the most stoned. Us white people can't even clap in time, maybe they were high, that's no excuse.
I think I posted on myother account. No, it's not there, I always leave comeents on a song bbut especially those requested my myself. Don't worry about the (my getting antsy), Your rereaaction was spot on, but we all know how much you like Joe Cocker, there are a few other ones I may get to at a later date. Thanks agian, Ty. Much apprecated.
I met Joe a few times he was as cool as ice and could drink like scotch was water and he did like a smoke. But when he was on the speed he was everyone's enemy it ruined his relationship with Leon and others who really got his career moving. Even so he was a talent that only comes once in 50 years. He was underrated as was Leon loved the music the talks and the mexican red.
Joe made a career spanning decades out of singing covers. Yet he also had a tendency to make those songs his own. Later in life he did sober up, yet it didn't dampen that energy you mentioned. Two of my favorites by him were "You can Leave Your Hat On" and "Civilized Man" I couldn't say if either are an original but both are full of that energy.
this is eternally amazing I was part of the peace and free loce movement .... sp much was based on black dingers as beatles ty im dancing Joe Cocker Amazing !!!! what happened music now lacks everything
When i first saw joe cocker on tv in high school, my dad told me he was the perfect example of what the stage can do for a horrible singer, lol. I asked what he meant, he said, "Think about it. If you heard me singing like that anywhere around the house, let alone wiggling my body all over like that, would you encourage me? You'd probably call the cops." 🤔 Good point.
Try Leon's "Out In The Woods". He did the arrangements for this song, organized and rehearsed the band. Part of the Wrecking Crew and was a force of nature. Was also involved with Bangladesh concert. Check out " Jumping Jack Flash/Youngblood" from that show. Thanks for this one!
Yeah we had lots of good sex , great music and average drugs. Woodstock had at least 250.000 people there and not one fight. Maybe drugs aren’t so bad.😊

To each their own, I prefer pot & non fiction. Jim
Been a fan of Joe Cocker since Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Rip Joe.
So the guy playing the piano was Leon Russell, another severely underrated musician. Look into "Asylum Choir 2". I dare you!
And Bobby Keys on sax.
Anything off Leon Live is great! Leon is the master of space and time.
I have both the asylum choir albums also some that were only released in Japan I got when I was stationed there 74&75

First ones to record The Letter was a band called The Boxtops.
The late, great Bobby Keys on sax.

Great song by Joe Cocker, TY!!
If you ever want to get a whole range of music during that time Ty, find the Woodstock documentary.

So, be honest, on first seeing Joe Cocker did anyone thing he was "special?"
Only showing Joe Cockers face is missing half of his performance
Yeah we had lots of good sex , great music and average drugs. Woodstock had at least 250.000 people there and not one fight. Maybe drugs aren’t so bad.😊
