The "detachable to hold the lid up" bit just got better every time
great patter
me: "they can't do it again"
Garbage Time: *does it again*
me: *has to pause the video from laughing*
I kept expecting it to get old but it just doesn't lol
Surely they didn't have to use the seat.
Cowl trim! It's cowl trim! :)
I want more car content like this on youtube. People geeking out over the completely normal (but very interesting) cars that shaped their life instead of gawking at ludicrously over-priced supercars that will only ever be owned by people who have more money than sense. Aussie lower class represent!
Agreed. There's a lot more to the car community than supercars, tuner cars or racing. This is proof of that. Quirky, weird mundane cars are fantastic.
if you want a uk version of that hubnut is a great channel to watch for regular car content
if you haven’t already (which is doubtful) you should watch regular car reviews
Visit TimRock16 youtube channel for garbage Renault Clio driving and junkyard exploration vids
YES
That crashed Mira in there was mine.. sadly a few days after I sold it to the new owner, someone pulled out in front of him and it was wrecked. It actually did have a rebuilt turbo EFI engine - glad someone saved that. RIP to one of the best nuggets i've had.
This is what I love about dankpods, he earns £400,000 a year from patreon alone and yet he's still modest which I find wholesome
dude makes bank just to fund his garbage addiction. gotta respect that at least.
@@YataTheFifteenth exactly bros earning that much and he hasn't changed his attitude
holy shit that's a lot!
cause he doesnt spend his money on brand new stuff, just interesting garbage
Dude's following the Greg Universe model of financial comfort.
As someone who rummages in e-waste bins for computers, seeing this video in my feed made me immeasurably happy.
I should rummage in ewaste bins a lot more, there's gotta be good tech in there that's just a bit manky.
You can make descent retro pcs or low power work station or emulator stations with stuff people throw out ridiculously easy
Big respect for anyone who nabs stuff from the ewaste bins at bunnings
@@DimT670 Also there can be good stuff on ebay, I got a Dell small form factor PC with a low profile GTX 745 running Windows XP and 7 and it just shreds every retro game I throw at it. It's great.
As someone who also rummages in rubbish for working stuff that was thrown away by negligent people, here's my garbage tale. I had a very old pc that also was my first one, and it already didn't work at that moment, I believed that the reason was the graphics card. The thing is that a house I was sometimes visiting had old motherboards and graphics cards on the corridor wall, for decoration (my computer technician friend used to live in there). So I did the most logical thing - scavenged some motherboards for ram and borrowed a card to see if it would launch. And after I tried several cards, it launched! But it was only for a few moments, eventually it completely died and I hung up that original card that was in it on that wall, in honor. Rest in PCI, "#46". You were not the best, but you were the first.
Edit: clarified some things
junkyards, there's something magical about them.
you either spot something rare or something you always see everyday.
Yet almost nothing you actually needed to find
Sadly in the states they want almost new part prices for the items and very hard to find a you pull them junkyards with the way insurance is now. I remember once I needed a door latch assembly for a 2000 Honda Accord coupe and they didn’t want to sell just the latch. They wanted me to buy the whole door. I miss the old junkyards I went to as a kid.
As an American car guy I love seeing all of the ordinary cars we didn't get, not just the high end ones. The fact that it's at a junkyard makes it better because junkyard videos are the best.
all of our junkyards are full of expensive and nice vehicles lol in Australia theirs are full of beaters because they drive beaters out there
As someone who has a pull-apart/u-pull-it in my town, I can fully understand and appreciate your excitement for half destroyed vehicles.
Used to go to one in my area for Saab parts on my 900, same situation as dank here, they only had one, but it was mint and it felt almost sacrilegious to pull parts off of it for my twice crashed boi, course the engine in mine was still in great shape where as I assume that wasn't the case for the scrapyard fellow.
Nugget lucky dip: GONE LARGE
Can someone please explain to me why watching you and James be car nerds for 9 minutes is so entertaining
i too enjoy watching someone be immersed in their passion/hobby, cause when theyre happy, im happy.
it's that old mate vibe
Because it's not another brand new high end latest gen Tesla Model R1S Superleggera GTR
@@ej_tech Or a rebadged Z4
@@AWACSR3D """Toyota""" Supra moment.
YES more of this! No flashy cars, just genuinely enjoying scrap cars and enjoying nugget life
As someone who had a car with Limited on the side of it for 18 years, they really do hold up. Until they realize they should actually be dead and kick the bucket when you least expect it. Which is what mine did. Rip to a real one
I feel more for your dead car than that royal whatsherface that kicked the bucket recently. F to pay respects
Always blows me away finding the same car as mine in the junkyard in better shape than mine. WTF.
Oh, yea. My family sold an Opel Kadett and later an Opel Vectra because they had too much rust, then I go to the junkkyard and there are Kadetts and Vectras without any rust and with perfect interiors. I miss the Kadett, I hope to find and buy one in good shape for cheap.
@@mitko_dsv1999 good luck friend, rust is in their DNA
Last year I tried to pull an alternator from a SAAB that was much nicer than mine, turned out the alternator was the reason it was there.
@@TheUltimateEel Thanks, I know. It won't be easy finding one without rust, but at least one that isn't falling apart would be nice. On the Kadett we had the rear right shock fell out because the mount rusted out, my grandfather fixed it with two plastic pieces and drove the car another 3 years. But it's still a pretty reliable car even if it reliably rusts as well.
@@drewzero1 sad, I went to junkyard for a new radiator for my saab, and the damn thing was 100% intact and perfect, it just had “high miles” which was why it was junked. So sad
I watched this while eating and you would think the problem would be the dirt and grime but no, it was when I choked and nearly died laughing at "detachable front seat to hold up the bonnet"
Seeing a VW Passat B5 Sedan in there (7:46) has not only warmed my heart due to them being your go-to old polish man car but also because I am more than sure a Polish businessman would import it to Poland, change the car meter to 200k km and sell it as almost new
In the Balkans too.
I've got a 2013 diesel passat and I absolutely love it, surprisingly fast and gets a ludicrous 40mpg which is great in these insanely priced times 💪💪
My family had an 04 B5 until 2016 when we got a jetta and now the passat is gone from north america and now I'm sad
This video was absolutely hilarious and you should literally make a series of videos that are exactly like this: you go to a u-pull and look at broken down old cars and make fun of em. That's all. This could totally carry your channel on its own. This video was so hilarious. Just looking at those cars and trying to figure out wtf happened to em is all the fun I need. I was stoked every second of this viddy mate. Please make more. It's super low effort and super lulzy and you could also include some road trip content like, idk, if you stopped at a run-down food joint on the way or something, or if you saw something stupid / funny on the way. You've struck gold here buddy, I know you didn't make the channel with this purpose in mind, but take my advice, make way, way more of those.
As an American who’s never seen most of those cars, it’s still super entertaining. This could easily be a monthly vid, and I’d look forward to every one
@@conaldeugenepeterson2147 fuck dude, i'd watch it every day. i guess after some build up going back to once a week or biweekly would be enough to satiate me rofl
Yes please
So in other words, Cashies Special: U-Pull Edition?
@@BladeBrigade7 i mean the channel name is literally GarbageTime so it's probably less of a special rofl i just hope this happens!!!
Wade and nugget content is the best combo
He's a nugget himself after all, so he's among friends.
They legit thought you were there to drop off the nugget van.
7:35 That "UP" is just the "YEPP" of cars
Glad to see someone else likes the PT Cruiser. Saw a convertible one at the Detroit Auto Show when I was little and it made an impression. Love to see some Holdens too, what an interesting brand.
I’ve literally never seen an indoor junkyard, that’s pretty cool
"This AU Falcon has a detatchable hood to hold it's hood up!"
I love junkyard "exploration" videos and would absolutely watch more of them if you ever felt so inclined
Mr. Pods is a cultured Saab enjoyer. Every time I learn something new about him I love him even more.
Ah yes, the junkyard, the cashies of the automobile world
Underrated comment 😂
Car fanatic(s) nerding out for 9 minutes and 37 seconds, absolutely amazing!
Aw man, this was such a treat. As an American with a love for Ausie stuff, I absolutely loved this seeing all those clapped-out cars. Just normal and unkept garbage in most people's eyes but a true treat for mine. and no context for this but I just wanna say it; god I want a barra to jam in my 03 protege3, I think that that would be sick.
Love seeing these eras of cars as they're exactly what my family had and still have, and what makes up a significant portion of traffic in a tiny northern english town.
My first car was a matiz. I was 17, and I could fit me and 2 mates, a BMX, 3 skateboards and 2 pairs of rollerblades in it, with our bags... perfect for trips to the skatepark. All thanks to the little matiz that could, because thankfully the rear seats could fold down 60/40 split.
Is it odd that I want more videos like this forever?
The Ka is legitimately good, amazing blend of nugget energy and some degree of actual comfort.
we have a place in edmonton alberta just like this called pick n pull. bought my first car (2004 mitsubishi ralliart) there in the "barely road legal" section, great memories. glad to see youre enjoying the junk yard!
oh man, seeing Edmonton pop up on an Aussie channel is the best. the pick n pull yards are awesome
South Australia hits different man
1:51 THE FORESHADOWING
2 grown men giggling their way through a wreckers yard.
This is unironically the best car video on CZcams.
My first car was a pt cruiser, and it was an absolute nugget. The engine kept shutting off when I was going 70+ mph to school, and the power steering died a few weeks before I sold it. I think we spent more repairing it than we spent on buying it. In the end, I managed to sell it for $500 when it was worth less than $250, and I'm pretty sure it went straight to a scrapyard
Sounds almost verbatim to the one my Dad had. The engine would constantly overheat and the power steering failed. Worst car he ever owned along with his Merkur.
Please more of "Junkyard AdventureTime" stuff
Were some good times when i lived in SA a little over a decade ago. Went to the U-Pull-It up in elizabeth with my father now & again, was always good to be seeing whatever old nuggets were kicking around & whatnot. Even ended up seeing a second generation Toyota Soarer for sale at the front of the place in 2010 or so. Being a wreckers, you can guess it would've been a clunker though. And as for my 1997 Magna, still going strong. That wouldn't be ending up in a wreckers for many years yet for sure.
I imagine the staff must have gotten the paperwork half-ready to buy the van when they saw this guy arrive
i dont know anything about cars, but wade's charm makes everything entertaining
The Matiz was also extremely popular in 2000s Romania, and can still be found on the roads
Yay, my favorite side channel of my favorite Aussie nugget review channel ❤
5:16 Bruce??
Jeff the 1995 Ford EF Falcon
R.I.P Bruce the 2003 Ford BA Falcon Ute
I feel more Australian by the second when watching this.
0:20 The red van is literally the exact make and model of G1 ironhide too. Getting hold of them is actually kind of hard, so that van was very loved. My guess is someone said something that pissed somebody else off, so someone took a bat to it, and then someone else left it in a garden saying they'd fix it and never got around to it. I bet the engine's in good nick.
That would explain the Autobot medallion.
Omg yesss a comment on it!!!
Dude for the love of god make more car related videos. Every video you’ve posted including cars made me realize how much of a enthusiast you are, also love your style of editing. Great stuff ❤❤
1:29 Matiz is probably the best name for a nugget because it means drunk in Turkish
This is exactly how I am in pull apart yards. I love gawking at little old nuggets and the things people leave in them
The AU Falcon: The absolute pinnacle of Australian motoring.
This is both hard to watch and hilarious to watch and fascinating to watch at once
Like watching a car crash.
My aunt had a matiz, a beige one
And my mum had an applause in the late 90's before we switched to a use Kia pride 98 for space efficiency
My mom had a PT cruiser. Seller had a restored 1960s chevy which is pretty rare in good ol England and he took good care of the PT, almost in new condition with the chrome left unscratched. Gasket blew up like a few months later
First car was a Matiz (the 0.8 L one), it went on two wheels going downhill. Loved that little green nugget.
I love seeing all of the older Australian cars!
As an american, it's so much fun guessing if Wade is making up names or if that's what they're actually called down under
i didnt pick up on any fake names, was there something that stood out?
@@matthewbrawn2375 theyre wayy different than anything we get up here
This channel consistently provides the best content.
I love this channel so much. PT Cruiser is the ultimate 2000s nugget and you should totally get one. In the States at least there was even a GT turbocharged model.
Man I love the old Mercs, Especially the stationwagon version of the old S-class is super cool. Acutally planning on buying an S-class sedan in the near future.
2:58 "$7000 for this car. BUT it got a SLIGHT dent in the front"
In the United States there is a racing collective known as 24 Hours of Lemons, yes “Lemons”, where you must assemble a car for $500 or less and then run it around a track as long as possible racking up laps in an endurance sprint that lasts 24 hours. It’s bonkers, there’s some wacky cars every time and it’s kind of amazing, people like to dress up their lemon like it’s going to Robot Wars. Anyways I only bring it up because this place looks like a great location to get started on prep for the event.
Oh btw I can’t forget to mention, the winner of the race gets $1500……..in nickels. Last time I checked anyways; I hope they’re still doing it that way heh
This kind of content just fuels my interest and me rewatching it, helps alot. Even if I'm not really a car guy but it's like, just so entertaining.
PT Cruiser, aka the jelly mould car and the Ford Ka, aka the roller skate :D
Aussie cars were always a source of fascination for me, I've never seen one in person due to living in the UK, but they always seemed like Australia's answer to crap American land barges, just with a better accent 😂
5:10 LIMGA TAiNT
LIGMA BA-
Wade, you are the only mate that makes me give a damn about vehicles. Keep the gold flowing.
Your car blends right in! It's a good thing you found it. Looking forward to more car videos, and I hope you find the parts that you need.
Wow, this junkyard really puts a lot of effort into propping the cars up. Most places I've been to just plonk them on the ground or maybe put them on some wheels/rims/tires laid flat on the ground.
Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who goes to a junkyard for parts and spends a significant amount of time just wandering around, marveling at the junk.
We want more junkyard tours...
YEAAAA
These are the most beautiful cars I've ever seen
Used to have a 1998 Daewoo Lanos. Everytime the engine was started up the entire neighbourhood would be engulfed by exhaust fumes
Ah yes aussie cars! Im learning about new cars which i didnt know exsisted and ive been a car guy for a while! So. For us non aussie viewers, keep makin these!
Mate, love your work! Support from the Phillipines!! ❤❤
Same !!!
You need to do this more often. this was a blast. I had a grin on my face the whole time.
I had a PT Cruiser for a bit. It initially belonged to my sister in law’s parents, they then gave it to my parents. My parents used it for a bit, then it went unused for awhile, then they gave it to me. I had it for almost a year before I had to junk it because it wasn’t worth fixing
5:37 I drive a KA. They are awesome little nuggets!
My uncle had one and yeah, it was good
@@opengtaxd It was a fun place to start your life journey.

Absolutely love episodes like this !
I love how in the intro when asked where they are, James, like a small child said in the most happiest I've ever heard someone say anything, "I like U-Pull-It"
1:22 their car probably became victim of the jaws of life so they needed another roof
I wish American junkyard save the owner's manuals and any useful books like you guys Australians know their value of the owner's manual 👌🏻
I thought the same thing, I really wish Pick n Pull saved them.
I love that nothing happened in this video. Just a couple of blokey blokes being blokes. 10/10. Would watch an hour of this quite easily.
Dankpods does exactly what I do when I go to my local junkyards: geek out over completely normal cars and trucks that are hard to find. What a great video!
4:03 holy shit an Austin A35

7:04 Did you actually fall over? I wasn't sure at first but the dingus has me convinced.
I'm not sure why but the idea of him saying dingus whenever he falls over brings me immense joy
Love watching this seeing all Aussie cars and stuff.
the dank man has blessed this world with another amazing video
your talent for ending videos is unmatched
As a 380 owner I love seeing you give love to other aussie Mitsus including the donkey van
U-Pull-It, it's like cashies but with extra rust, dust, and especially crust!
I absolutely love the sense of humor in this video! 🤣
0:16 I like how my first thought was "that look like a van they did for 80's transformers"
0:18 and then the logo appeared lol, poor fella seen better days
A trip to U-pull it is always a special event, the un-bridled optimism about what parts you might find for your nugget and the amazement of the other cars you might see there in various states of decay. Sometimes you wonder how they got into that condition in the first place. I saw a new-ish VW transporter there once that had a fire in the engine bay, enough to melt and strip all the insulation off of all the wires so that the copper strands were just left strung about the place like industrial grade cobwebs.
Just found the channel sounds like dank pods found a junkyard obsession 😆 love it.
The manager of that U-Pull it is a legend. Glad you go there too!
I absolutely adore content like this
"Up (Exclamation mark)"
That's the correct way of reading that nameplate and you can't convince me otherwise.
Magnas were awesome! First car, so comfy! And yes it died when the engine literally ate itself while I was on top of a mountain with a full car of mates. Called RACV, he arrives, then I remembered I was'nt a member. Oh the memories!
