      Except for Big E being borderline divine? He's more than a demi, that's for sure. The definition of what a deity is isn't something set in stone, especially in a fictional universe. Considering Big E's ability to rival the most powerful deities in the setting, much less within their own "realm", ontop of his immortality and abilities to manifest his will with thought. Is he comparable to the Abrahamic religions' Alpha and Omega, creator of everything? No, but he's above Zeus, Odin, etc. He'd be beneath Ahura Mazda as well. Other fictional pantheons like Tolkien's universe and D&D/FR have far more powerful deities than anything in GW's pantheons, but they also have weaker deities. Big E is a divine conundrum.

    I honestly think the Emperor could have saved Himself a lot of trouble had he been more tactful with Lorgar. If he wanted an absolutely loyal servant who will not disobey Him, Lorgar was the best candidate. I will also be blunt: Lorgar was correct in a way, cause it is human nature to turn to something spiritual for inspiration. Hindsight had also proven that giving mankind something else to worship besides the Ruinous Powers had proven to be a more effective way to depower the forces of Chaos than trying to deny it exists. It's too bad the Emperor was simply too high up His own horse to even consider the viewpoints of His sons, cause again, had the Emperor been more tactful to some of His sons, the Horus Heresy could have been prevented altogether.

    The Emperor was equally religious as Lorgar, if not more. No matter how much the Emperor repeats he's "not a god" he still behaves and demands to be treated like one. If you disagree with him or don't support his vision, you're wrong and you'll either agree or he will use his godly power to kill you. He basically wants "an imperium ruled by man" but that imperium has to follow his vision and his "Commandments" otherwise he will use his godly powers to either remind them that he is a god they have to obey (all the while stating that he's not a god) or if you still disobey he will use his godly powers to destroy you.
    Also he's willfully lying to everyone in saying that there are no Gods, but he actually met the chaos gods to learn how to make the Primarchs. The Emperor basically has an extreme case of paranoid schizophrenia. It would be a lot more honest if he just said "Yes there are gods but they're pretty evil bastards who seek to destroy everything that makes us US and we have to fight them." Instead he goes "You're wrong" to his most loyal son. And everyone is like O.O A dude who lied to everyone and used any means necessary to achieve his ends got betrayed? HoW CoULd tHaT hAAPPEn!!

Because no matter his power no matter his will he would make mistakes just like anyone else. In the end he was but a man. And while he may have killed people or lied to them he did it all to protect humanity. Ignorance against chaos is a genuine protection the only way a mortal could ever truly stay loyal was if they were superhuman like an Astartes (but even that doesn't save you) or if you had absolute faith in another being. As such The Big E chose to lie to humanity and make them atheist rather than reveal the truth or make them worship him.

      I've got a feeling Big E told the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table to the Lion.
      He then showed Fulgrim how to be a fashionista by showing him a bunch of magazines.
      He then read one of R. P. Hunnicutt's books about tank development to either Ferrus Manus or Perty.
      He read to Jaghatai the story of Genghis Khan, and also showed him motorcycle magazines.

    Lorgar isn't misunderstood or had a point. He's legitimately a bad person. The demon Ingethel literally told Lorgar that he/she/it (who the fuck knows) would kill Lorgar's sons that he sent into the Eye of Terror and he still did it. He told Argel Tal that he was willing to sacrifice 13 of his sons if it gave him one Gal Vorbak. Lorgar only gives a shit about Lorgar.

    There’s a theory on Judas that may have inspired Lorgar a bit. It’s said that Jesus was to be a warrior saviour in some circles and that Judas believed this and that he needed to inspire the “wrath of God” so he betrayed Jesus thinking he would then destroy the enemies of God. I am pretty high right no so take that into account.

    • @darthrevan1281
      @darthrevan1281 Před 3 lety

      Honestly, that sounds like religious head-canon. The gospel accounts are pretty straightforward about Judas’ motivation. First of all, was skimming the funds that the other apostles and Jesus were collecting to give to the poor. And later, he infamously betrays Jesus in exchange for 30 pieces of silver. Perhaps its only natural to doubt that one person would betray another for such banal and crass reasons, but it literally happens every day.
