The Ford C series is a range of trucks that was assembled by Ford between 1957 and 1990. The first cab-over engine (COE) truck produced with a tilting cab by Ford, the C-series replaced the C-series COE variant of the F-series, produced since 1948. Produced as both a straight/rigid truck and a tractor, a wide range of versions of C-series was produced, ranging from Class 5 to Class 8 GVWR ratings. The C-series was also used as a basis for fire apparatus production.Produced for 33 years nearly unchanged (with the exception of its powertrain), the C-series was the longest-produced commercial truck in North America at the time of its withdrawal; only the Mack Model R (39 years) and Kenworth W900 (59 years; still in production) have remained in production longer. In 1986, Ford began phasing in the Ford Cargo in North America, serving as its replacement after the 1990 model year.
1973 Ford C-900 fire truck Ford C-series fire truck in action in 2010As Ford started squaring off its vehicles in 1957, they finally gave the cab-overs their own designs separate from the rest of the Ford truck lineup. It featured a small grille near the front bumper, with a four-pointed star emblem on each end, the word "F O R D" spelled out below the windshield, and had a cog-and-lightning bolt crest emblem between the headlights. Variations of this emblem were found on many other Ford trucks during the 1950s and into the 1960s. The C series held onto this logo the longest.Design updates[edit]In a fashion similar to the Checker Marathon or Volkswagen Beetle, changes to the C-series trucks throughout its production were very subtle. If anywhere, many of these changes were identifiable by the changes in the cowl insignias and badging. Between 1958 and 1960, the C series used a quad-headlight fascia. This was helpful for fire departments, which wanted to use the extra headlight bezels for emergency flashers, an option that was offered exclusively to fire, and other emergency vehicles after 1960.[1] In 1961, Ford reverted to the single headlight design; the regular C-series cab closely resembled the 1957 version.[2] A new Super Duty model was added. Another option included a small sleeper cab.1963-1990[edit]For 1963, the C series was updated with the same cowl insignias used by the rest of the medium- and heavy-duty truck line up. The logo had the word FORD on top of a trapezoid with the model number designation. This insignia was used until 1967.[3][4] Also in 1963, Ford introduced diesel versions of the C series, as well as the N series and heavy-duty F series.[5] 1986 Ford C-800 DieselIn 1968, federal regulations required all automotive manufacturers to add side marker reflectors or lights, which Ford was able to add to the new cowl insignia used on the F series since 1967. That same year, Ford decided toadd this insignia on the doors of the C series, as well. Unlike theFord F series, which removed them for 1973, the C series would retain them until the end of production in 1990. After 1972, the Canadian Mercury version of the C series was discontinued, becoming the last Mercury truck until the 1993 Mercury Villager. The year 1974 was the last for the cog-and-lightning bolt crest that graced the front of the trucks from the beginning, and other Ford trucks since the 1950s. In the 1980s, as Ford began adding its blue oval logo to all models; it was added to the C series in 1984.In 1981, the Ford Cargo was introduced by Ford of Britain as its largest truck line. For 1986, Ford began sales of the Cargo in North America, sourcing production from Ford Brasil. While the Cargo was largely intended to replace the C-Series, the popularity of the C-Series in niche applications led to both model lines marketed concurrently through the end of the 1980s.After 33 model years with only minor changes, the final C-Series trucks were built in 1990.

Great sense of humor.
As a veteran mechanic, whom has worked on allot of trucks, can truly appreciate the details. Especially being from Cleveland, which has just as much rust as Wisconsin. Milwaukee, like our sister city. A church and a bar on every corner downtown. Coke machine is fantastic
Thanks Jake!
Chris, My Dad's shop had a 1961 Ford C600 dump truck that I used to ride with my dad to the dump. brings back some memories.
Thank you for all the weathering tips! Can't wait to use them!
" More miles than a prom queen " LOL !
lmao
Wow, jack off much loser.
You've turned a 'i would never buy that' to a 'I gotta have that, maybe 2!' lol. I now consider this my favorite build of yours. And i have to eat a little crow here. I mostly watched your videos for the kit reviews, thinking i wouldn't learn much from a guy who mainly builds box stock. I was wrong! I now have at least 5 new things to try out for my weathering. Plus the bed of this is outstanding! That's even better than some I've done using real wood! For a guy who uses rattle cans, i believe you have world class skills.
I use to drive one of these back in the day with a 3208 caterpillar with a 5 speed trans and a two speed rear axle good build.
Hi Chris, I'm new to your channel and I have to say you have talent building models. I'm 61 and needed a hobby and I haven't found anyone I can learn any better than you and I'm really enjoying this hobby. I really want to build that Coke Cola stake body next. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I'm loving this line of Coca-Cola scales they're doing awesome job Chris
That truck looks so realistic. Nice job
The more of your videos I watch, the more I learn. Your weathering skills are superb. And you explain things clearly and patiently, never assuming we already know how to do something or what tools and products to use; I greatly appreciate that. Your narration and music selection makes for an easy listen and your video angles make for an easy watch. You’re like the Bob Ross of model building, lol.
Glad you like them! Thanks a lot! I'm honored that some folks would compare me to Bob!
I love these "build down" videos. I'm still working on a chevy pickup that I'm building a barn find and put a story behind it. did some dry brushing like you've shown in your previous videos and like how it's turning out.
You've added a lot of realism to this build with the weathering and patina!!
still floored at how great you make these look like the real thing, bravo Chris .
Great job on the weathering look! Looks awesome!
And I thought I was the only one who used craft paints and my fingers. Thanks for the great tips!
Very nice, I always learn something new when you weather your kits. A day with your hands covered with model paint is a day well spent.
I love your weathering technique!
OUTSTANDING build Chris. I love the wear and weathering tips!!!
another Awesome build ,I really all of the extra stuff that comes with it .
I will get one but from my local Ma and Pa hobby store
Nice job on this truck, especially the worn look on it. I always want my truck kits to look this way. I've learned a lot on how to do this watching your videos. Thanks for making the video, I really enjoyed this one!
Like your videos a lot. Been a model builder for well over 50 yrs. Worked in a Coca Cola bottling plant in Presque Isle, ME in 1967. These bottling plants were located around the countryside so that delivery trucks could go out and serve stores within a days drive, 100 mi radius or so. Another fellow and I, and the foreman, would unload empties from 7 trucks and load them for the next day delivery. Started at 4 pm and usually took to midnight or more. Was young then, it was easy. Coca Cola "syrup" (about the consistency of pancake syrup) was delivered to the bottling plants in those 55 gal steel drums. It was thick and not carbonated. The syrup was mixed with water, according to the recipe, and filled into glass bottles right in the plant where we worked. Those barrels were heavy but had heavy steel hoops around them so they rolled on the cement floor easily. Rolled quite a few as they were always in our way. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Now that came out very sweet! Inspired me to think of building a truck🤔. Thank you for the video👍🏻
Now this is a truck! As a kid, being a truck watcher, and getting excited, this C600 was it for me! Still is! Love your builds. You make them right!
Thanks 👍
Excellent work, especially since it was all done in 2 days! I'll definitely be picking up some of the crackle-finish paint for the interior of the IH Emeryville I'm working on now.
Water in the headlight. You didn't miss a thing. NIce job. Would love to see it on a diorama.
You go that extra mile. Seeing that awesome weathering realism is just fantastic. Your touch makes these reviews. More tutorial than review"ish. Reminds me of "Duel" Ford made a decent cab in this era. Thanks
Wow!
I've watched a LOT of Hpiguys videos, but this one has more tips per square centimeter than five others combined. Can't wait to try out some of these techniques.
Thanks!
Another fantastic build. I really enjoy the fact that you take chances and do what you want to do
Great job very inspirational I love these beat up models
Man, each build never ceases to amaze! Masterful skill level! I'm glad I subscribed, and love each video! Thanks Chris!
Also thanks for sharing snd weathering ideas.

That looks amazing. Thank you for your video. It’s helped me tremendously. I started this kit about 3 weeks ago, and man, it’s a tough one. I haven’t built a model since I was a kid. I’m building mine just like the box. Things that gave me issues so far: None of the parts numbers match. None of them. I had to find and assemble parts by the terrible pictures alone. This is where your video really helped. The exhaust system was a nightmare for some reason. Probably from the paint not allowing the parts to bond. The side mirrors. Holy cow these things suck.. All in all, I learned a lot and my kit is almost complete. The next one should be a lot smoother! Thanks again!! 👊🏻
Enjoy getting back into the hobby!
Thanks for keeping the videos going as this world goes through this trying time..
As long as I don't catch it myself I'll keep working!
Another great weathering job. A very interesting take on Coke-Cola series build. Wonderful.
I always build mine as slightly abused but still used. Nice weathering on this truck.
Thanks for stopping by!
Nice work. Great job on weathering details. You make it look so easy.

Great build..i live in Athens, Tennessee and the city of Athens used to an automatic transmission diesel engined version ford c600 garbage truck..when it would go up a hill the front of it looked like it was going to come up off of the ground where it was taking the weight of the truck cab off of the front wheels👍👍👍😊😊😊
Amazing truck

Thank you, and thanks for watching and commenting!
Man Chris you really know how to beat up a truck good work as always 👍👍
Very, very well done. I’m getting one.
Hello Chris, nice junk yard truck. I like that they included the crate, barrels and broom from the stake truck kit. The Coke machines are great. Guess you could call it a 2 in 1 kit. Coke or supply truck. I bought a case of the rack body truck. I think I have 7 or 8 of them in storage. The kits I have include the option for a Ford C Series six wheel tractor. Another 2 in 1 kit. I used the rack body on another truck it was the Ford Ln 8000 box truck with a crane kit. I used the twin axles from the Ford Dump truck to make it a LNT 8000. It fit perfectly on the Short Hauler kit frame with no alterations. The engine is a 534 C.I. Series N Super Duty industrial engine. It is used for trucks, larger boats and industrial applications. My preference is a truck that is driven every day. Your build would be great for a diorama sitting out in a field or in a barn. I really enjoyed this build. Thank you.
Great job !
Nice job adding weathering and patina...
beautiful
That chrome was so nice, I saw three Chris' in it! lol There's a similar Ford truck by where I work, sitting off of the interstate in a field.
Nicely detailed cab..
Wow,so lifelike.
all this models that you make are very good to make a miniature movie set, I hope a movie studio would see this to shot movies or video scenes

Man oh man you do nice work. I like that you don't use a lot of cast resin and photo etch parts on your builds.
Awesome job as Always would love to see you do a diorama for this truck 👍👍

Another amazing build Chris
Thank you, and thanks for watching and commenting!

Thank you, and thanks for watching and commenting!
This is a great build I love it great job
Thanks for coming along for the FUN!
Awesome, man. You're making me want to get back into model building. Love your channel, especially videos like this that cover more detail painting. I wish you'd do that for some of your more basic car builds. Also, if you have a list of what kids of paints, paint-pens, clearcoats, etc you use, that would be helpful.
Paints and such are all listed as I use them in the painting sections, or I mention them during the parts show offs and stuff.
You would think even with a stake bed it would have a lift gate because it’s carrying machines. Oh well, awesome build as always!
We can say the story is about trucks that only go to loading docks. Plenty of those trucks around.
Have to pay extra for lift gate service.
The Hostess version has a lift gate that works, it's cool, built it up on that video.
Hey you changed the filter 😂😂😂 great video 👍👍👍
I just discovered you channel a few days ago. I am in love with the final results of your work. I will be honest, I watch the very beginning where you show what the kit has in it, then I zoom toward the final pre-assembly......after you have the kit painted up.....and then watch through to the end. I skip the entire build process....not because it's boring or uninteresting....I just know that I will not build a model again...most likely. I have two kits....a 66 Chevy II Nova and a 1 of 2500 Testors Panavia Tornado fast attack jet. I bought the 66 Chevy II kit nearly 15 years ago and all I have done to it is to glue the two block halves together. The Tornado jet plane....I opened the box once to check out the parts....and that was probably 12 years ago. Those model boxes have collected nice thick layers of dust over the years.
Anyhow....I love how you weather and age some of the models, making them yours and making them seem like they have been used and run about for decades instead of being show room new and shiny.
Whatever floats your boat, thanks for watching!
Awesome
