QUICK SPECS: 1/25 Scale, 85+ Parts, built size: 8.25 x 3 inches. Parts molded in red and clear with black vinyl tires. Some parts chrome plated. Plastic model kit paint and cement required.
C/K is a series of trucks that were manufactured by General Motors from the 1960 to 2002 model years. Marketed by both the Chevrolet and GMC divisions, the C/K series encompassed a wide range of vehicles. While most commonly associated with pickup trucks, the model line also included chassis-cab trucks and medium-duty trucks and served as the basis for GM full-size SUVs. Through its entire production, the model line competed directly against the Ford F-Series and the Dodge D series (later the Dodge Ram pickup).
Used for both the model branding and the internal model code, "C" denoted two-wheel drive; "K" denoted four-wheel drive. Four generations of the model line were produced, including the second-generation "Action Line" and third-generation "Rounded Line" vehicles. GMC marketed its version of the fourth-generation C/K pickup truck under a singular GMC Sierra nameplate. The C/K was manufactured for South America by General Motors Brazil, who produced variants of the model line for Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
For 1990, GM ended production of medium-duty C/K trucks, replacing them with the Chevrolet Kodiak/GMC TopKick. For 1999, the C/K was replaced with the Chevrolet Silverado; in line with the GMC Sierra, Chevrolet consolidated its full-size pickup trucks under a singular nameplate. Initially marketed with its successor, the final C/K pickup trucks were produced after the 2000 model year. From 2001 to 2002, the final vehicles of the C/K model line were heavy-duty chassis cab trucks.
This generation marks the debut of the Chevrolet Cheyenne and GMC Sierra nameplates; introduced in 1971 and 1972, respectively, General Motors still uses both nameplates for full-size pickups in current production. The Action-Line pickup also served as the basis of ancestors of modern full-size SUVs, including the Chevrolet K5 Blazer, an open-body off-road vehicle, and the Chevrolet Suburban truck-based station wagon.
Coca-Cola, or Coke, is a carbonated soft drink manufactured by The Coca-Cola Company. Originally marketed as a temperance drink and intended as a patent medicine, it was invented in the late 19th century by John Stith Pemberton and was bought out by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coca-Cola to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century.[1] The drink's name refers to two of its original ingredients: coca leaves, and kola nuts (a source of caffeine). The current formula of Coca-Cola remains a trade secret; however, a variety of reported recipes and experimental recreations have been published.
The Coca-Cola Company produces concentrate, which is then sold to licensed Coca-Cola bottlers throughout the world. The bottlers, who hold exclusive territory contracts with the company, produce the finished product in cans and bottles from the concentrate, in combination with filtered water and sweeteners. A typical 12-US-fluid-ounce (350 ml) can contains 38 grams (1.3 oz) of sugar (usually in the form of high-fructose corn syrup). The bottlers then sell, distribute, and merchandise Coca-Cola to retail stores, restaurants, and vending machines throughout the world. The Coca-Cola Company also sells concentrate for soda fountains of major restaurants and foodservice distributors.
The Coca-Cola Company has on occasion introduced other cola drinks under the Coke name. The most common of these is Diet Coke, along with others including Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola, Diet Coke Caffeine-Free, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola Vanilla, and special versions with lemon, lime, and coffee. I spent a lot of time and effort trying to get my models to be "perfect" in all ways. From a flawless paint job to making sure every piece was in its proper place. Naturally, my models came out like a disaster. But since watching your videos, I've learned that it's okay to be less than perfect. To grab a paintbrush instead of the airbrush to lay down a simple coat of paint and not to obsess over every single detail. I recently finished a 34 Ford Pickup and when I attached the window frame to the cab I ended up with a huge gap. I looked at it and rather than panicking I grabbed some plastic filler, did some filing, painted on a few coats of paint, added some rust effects and it looked like a worn truck that had some repair work done to some body damage. I've gotten much praise for the entire model and no one cared about the original gap in the window frame. So thanks a lot for the encouragement and please keep up the fantastic work.

Man oh man, I have to get one of these. About thirty years ago I bought a 70 Chevy C model from a used car dealer- it had been Frankesteined with a bigger motor, transmission, and radiator, the wrong rear end (with street slicks!) and so forth. It was a hell of a great work truck once I figured out how to keep my foot out of the Holley 4 bbl someone had stuck on it.
Chevy didn't change much on their trucks between 70 and 72 so I can make a replica of that truck. I really miss it. Thanks for the memory.

I can’t imagine building two models a week. Right now I’m building the International Payhauler dump truck and that model is massive and somewhat difficult and I made my front axle so it would steer and what a joy that was, not.

Watching your video here gave me the idea of getting this truck, or two, the racers wedge truck, and the Coke Charger and have the racers wedge done up as a Coke truck and have the Coke Charger on it. If I get two of these pickups, possibly have the pickup on the back of the racers wedge as well.

That was pretty cool the way you got the faded and rust look. I didn’t know about all those things so on my last old looking vehicle that I made I used black primer under the red paint and then when I sand it off the red it mixed with the black and came out, looking like rust and faded red.

I'm currently doing this very kit, but not with all the Coke logos...I'm making a scale model of my 1969 C10, the only real exterior difference is the grille & the front turn signals are in the bumper...other than that, it's the same...just finished painting & assembling the engine yesterday...I want more detail in the engine though...I want to add plug wires & heater hoses & wiring harness & such...I think I'll put some led headlights & taillights in it too...I'm gonna make the Coke machine though...it's there, so why not? Lol!

Such a sweet build. I literally cringed when you started adding that craft paint for fading the red because you had already finished the chrome trim, I was amazed at your technique. I have a Coca-Cola sign and selector pads from a 70s Coke machine hanging in my storage building. Nice one!!!

I'd love one too but I don't think there ever was a model of a long bed. It sure would make things easier trying to replicate my real ones. So far, I've replicated 2 of them by buying 4 short beds and cutting the chassis and bed from one (for each replica) and a whole lot of work to put everything back together. What I'd REALLY like to see is a square body dually!
Aside from long-bed and "Racer's Wedge" this kit came with a wrecker body - later reissued as "Cooter's" from TV "Dukes" and probably best on-frame RV/camper - Would be awesome to see both these re-relaesed too - especially if at all possible to "knock it out of the park" with a better too/rendering of wrecker boom + associated gear - especially with realistic 1-ton wheels & duallies! Pretty pleeese R2!
I would love to see Cooters Tow Truck again, and anything else they want to base off this cab. Totally agree.

What kind of paint booth do you have?
Beautiful, I would love to get one of this AMT kits, but they are veeery rare in Germany. And importing is not an option because the custom and shipping fees wuld be morexpensive then the kit itself. So your videos are like a substitute to me. Keep up the good work. Christoph :-)

What kind of tape do you use to mask off models? Painters tape ok?
I like Washi tape from craft stores.
Do you display all your models and if so do you cover them in some kind of protective covering?
I do not have the room to display them all, no.
How long is the drying time between the layers from primer to finished varnish?
I dry everything off with a dehydrator. I can go from wet to dry in 20 minutes
How do you paint the chrome trim pieces? I have never painted a model doing my first now same truck. The trim is making me the most nervous.
You can watch more recent videos from the past couple years where I do much more on camera like trim, glass, etc.

Quick question for you: how would you go about detailing the molded-in raised scripts on model car/truck bodies without getting paint all over the place, assuming no script decals came with the kit, such as older kits? Sharp silver pencil works.
Bare metal foil first, then painted, then lightly scuffed to remove just the paint on the letters
Silver gel pen lightly dragged across the surface points
Those are a few i've used depending on the kit.

You mentioned using using Rust Ole-um primer, doesn't that soften, craze, melt the plastic? Which primer is it? Does it have a number?
If you watch the video, especially the painting sections, I show every single can I use lined up so that there is no mistake in what I'm using.

I can't seem to keep my Sharpe "wet" so to speak to go over the painted surface. It seems to want to hit or miss and I have to keep going over that surface. Product error or operator error? I've bought 2 or 3 of these trying to get it right.
I store them tip down for one.
Also, pressing on them makes the ink stop. Takes a very light pressure to get them to lay down a nice coat.
Also make sure that the paint is fully cured.

Impossible to tell by a comment. Strip it and start over to see if it happens again.
They did a great job except the tail lights. They don't look accurate at all. (The model mold itself) Great job! I had a '72, My brother in law said those trucks must have come with primer spots! Mine was several colors for quite a while until I painted it white.

It pretty much just presses in, and sandwiches between the chassis and the box. Use some super glue to hold it in.
