For some strange reason it reminds me of my old battered and bruised outdoor Tonka car I had as a kid. Great weathering! Nice update Greetz DutchDave 🇳🇱
I really like how thicks the layers of paint around the rust spots show years of layered paint jobs.Overall you are doing a fantastic job on this build Bryan! I look forward to seeing your next video showing your progress. Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing.
Love it! Watched part 1, 2 and 3 in one go! I need one of these (or if I can find the -900), already have a Dodge L700, but what we all need and you know it, is the Chevrolet/GMC tilt cab! Come on Round2, if you read this....get to it!
Great update awesome job on the weathering. The over spray and them little natchez makes it stand out more. It is really looking awesome. Have a great weekend BG👊👊👊👍👍😎
Looks great Bryan. The engine looks awesome. Chassis is great. Body looks like it’s 100 years old! 😆. Looking forward to seeing your next update. Thanks for sharing. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦
I think your weathering looks Great Bryan!!! I love you showing us what your doing. I don't have this kit. I only have 2 rigs. The one I just won from D Factory Rat. A Dodge D-700 and a Revell of Germany Ferrari Tractor / Trailer set. Because of Tim / Throttle Powers Big Rig show videos I've really been getting into them. I've wanted to build something weathered for years now just haven't done it.😔 So many projects, So little time. I'll be watching
BG I was going to point out the Ying/Yang right before you mentioned it. I can't believe how well you duplicated the tetanus on the bumper. Awesome work on this truck.
Pick up some of humbrol enamel rust it's the best most relistic rust you'll use! I sware by it and can also be thinned to apply through airbrush! When it dries the tone and texture oh it's so sweet!
Outstanding Brian!! I love where you’re going with this one. Great techniques and awesome results! look forward to seeing more. Love the two-tone crusty paint job!
Great update Bryan. Some great tips also, even the tip from your niece. lol I like that orange/brown wash. I did not know of this before. I got to get some of that stuff. Forgive me if I might be wrong about a couple of things. I am going off of my old & abused brain cells ( only have 3 or 4 left) I think that the cabs on these trucks were made by the BUDD company which manufactures all sorts of things such as truck wheels & train cars. The same cabs were used by Mack & Pierce fire apparatus co. Maybe other truck companies too. You mentioned about the cow (Bull) on the Elmer's bottle logo. If my busted brain cells are correct (possibly NOT!) I recall that Elmer's glue was produced by the Borden's company (a dairy company) Their logo was Elsie the cow. According to my family elder's, Elmer was Elsie's husband. Maybe this is a fact or maybe they were just messing with my head. lol. Anyway, your truck is looking great.
Hi Rick, thank you! As it turn out, i had been doing some reading about the cabs and it seems ford designed and created all the tooling for the cabs and had BUDD stamp them. so they are genuine ford, BUDD had the machines that could handle that larger sheet metal needed. I must say, this right here is one of the reasons i love model building! the research and the conversations that grow from it. 😊
@@BGsModelWorkshop Thanks Brian. More cool info being shared.. I find it interesting. Is it only model builders , who would care about Elmer the bull on a glue bottle? lol Have a nice day.
I've just found the original book for the short cab c600 the air tanks are one 1 of each side of the middle inside frame brace just back from whare you have put your one! I wish CZcams could let us sent images in these comments to help other modellers out with parts they need to know whare they go! But hope this helps somewhat!
Looks good like the way your going with the kit looking forward to the next video but now well 🍪🍪🍪🍪 time killer job well done.... Update was at work and looked a few trucks we have and it seams the gas caps both are on the either front are the back even look on a few of the trucks that came in same thing I know you could have just google it ,but it had e thinking after you said something about it anyway 🍪🍪🍪🍪 for me too now LOL
Have you tried AK interactives worn effects and heavey chipping fluids? Tresemee number 3 is also perfect for getting fine in scale chip's but has to be this type! Masking fluid on a sponge dabbed off like you would do with sponge chipping also works well for bigger scaled vehicles
Excellent work. That truck is looking well used. Great techniques. I had always you used something besides water to get the salt to stick. Also, the white glue technique is simple as well. Thank you for shedding the light on a couple of techniques I was in the dark on. You should check out Flourento (spelling is probably wrong) Rebuilding’s videos. He is doing a very detailed series on building a Ford C 900. There is some great stuff in his videos. You may be able to get a couple of ideas from him. Are you going to use the photoetched set of stuff on this build? Thanks for sharing.
@@BGsModelWorkshop He builds models. Mostly the big trucks. It looks like you are going to basically build it box stock, which is perfectly ok. Every model I’ve built this year, except for one, has been box stock.
I absolutely love your weathering technique- it looks like it's been sitting at the bottom of a lake for years . Would all rust spots have a trail of rust drifting off of it? ( like smoke )
Hi Robert! Thank you so much! That's a very good point, as i look at the cab i feel that perhaps only a few would have rust trails. good call! glad i paused on it for a bit lol. thanks for the question. it got me thinking.😊
That's a nice build what are you going to put in the bed? I build this kit a few months ago but the Hostess variant with Trailmobile trailer it was pretty damn hard to assemble
Hi Justin, I am not putting anything on the back except the fifth wheel. this truck is the short frame so the flat bed won't fit anymore. we're just going to leave it. Thanks for watching!
so how does the white glue idea work? Do let the parts set for a day with glue and than when you are ready to take the parts apart., they just come apart?
Because the glue is water soluble. When it is dry, you can paint over it - the second layer of paint sticks to everything but when water gets under the second coat of paint, it dissolves the glue, and the paint that is on top of the glue washes away. It is the same idea with the salt. After being painted over - the salt is wetted down with water and dissolves. The paint stays where it has adhered to the first coat of paint but washes away where the salt prevented it from adhering.

To active it just wet ot or pick it woth tweezers or a toothpick if you want hard edged flaked chips and wet it for finer worn effects

Why is a bull on the Elmer's glue label ? Back in the late 40's and early 50's - Borden's mascot was Elsie the cow (the whole cow/milk connection). In many advertisements - at the time - often Elsie would be dispensing motherly advise about the benefits of milk to the youngsters (little cows). Elmer (the pseudo father) would sometimes be in the advertisement as the foil or butt of the joke, whatever the topic of the cartoon happened to be. So, Elsie was busy touting the benefits of milk, Elmer - as a "strong" bull - could tout the benefits of a strong glue.
Oh wow!! Makes total sense, thank you for sharing that. I would never have guessed. The only connection I could make was the old horse and glue factory one. So the bull didn't make sense there.

Who makes the cordless airbrush you talk about? Like where did you get it from
I picked mine up from Spraygunner.com they have a few versions there now believe. Mine was about $90.00
add a little vasoline " grease" to the top of the fifth wheel
Perhaps. But I have an idea to make it look nasty. 😊
so how does the white glue idea work? Do let the parts set for a day with glue and than when you are ready to take the parts apart., they just come apart?
Exactly! sometimes you may have to soak the parts in water to help them come away easier.
Because the glue is water soluble. When it is dry, you can paint over it - the second layer of paint sticks to everything but when water gets under the second
coat of paint, it dissolves the glue, and the paint that is on top of the glue washes away. It is the same idea with the salt. After being painted over - the salt is
