  • A common problem to Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler 42RE transmissions. A broken 3-4 Accumulator Spring cracked and then breaks into two pieces causing the lose of 4th gear. This happens due to long term heat where. This issue has been mended by aftermarket parts that have better heat characteristics. Results: Worked like a charm.

That was great video for me. I didn’t realize the piston fell out and didn’t know where to re-install it until I saw your video. Thanks for information ✅🇺🇸

I’m so happy people around the world are finding this fix massively helpful 🙏🏻. If your Jeep starts in second gear, replace the O2 sensors.. I know it doesn’t make much sense but believe it or not the system shares the same ground as the transmission solenoid🤔. So if it’s shot. The jeep will start on second even after changing governed solenoids and transducer

My jeep takes about 30 minutes before the overdrive off light to kick on. If I stay under 65mph, it won't happen at all. If I got past 70 mph, it does. I've gone to the transmission shops, 2 of them in town.. and they drive it and scan it, and say they can't find anything wrong

@@majedbadghaish Man, I did the shift solenoid and the pressure transducer, along with clean fluid & a new filter, and it's still shifting funky.
Got a new speed sensor today, so I'll be trying to add it to the list of replaced parts soon. *sigh*

@@revolutionday1 Ouch.. that is not what I meant by new driving experience. 😳.
Now if your talking about the car start on second gear when driving from a full stop, I will tell you something that does not make any common since at all, replacing the O2 sensors fixed my funny second gear start.. this problem was in my 2003 Durango with the 46RE, and 2004 Grand Cherokee 42RE. I’t never made any logic in my brain but worked for my Durango by coincidence, then I applied it to my Jeep and it worked. I just walked away scratching my head. And praying to god to burn those engineers on a BBQ Made for MOPAR electrical designers. Turns out transmission & O2 share the same ground Circuit in some way😡😡😡😡

@@revolutionday1 make sure they are original O2 sensors (MOPAR-NTK)

Yesterday I changed that resource, it was broken into 3 pieces, along with that, I changed the governor, pressure sensor, filter and everything else without removing the valve body... the only thing I noticed abnormal was the broken spring... Today it was driving very well, the changes felt smooth and it had super strength when starting... but after about 20 miles it went back to how it was before... again going from P to D hard hit, from 0 to 100 very slow and it already ran out of power again... I would like to know what would happen? If the resource broke again?

42RE Accumulator Spring can be found on eBay-amazon, performance transmission shops. when removing the old spring, make sure to file any scratches inside the spring housing. Change the Trany Filter & Oil with ATF+4.
